      @@cal7434 Not at all. He means there are more than just one option that should be considered rather than just blindly striking out at someone. For instance, setting up a 10 mile buffer zone on each side of the border with video surveillance drones and roving unmarked patrol vehicles with each side responsible for arresting and detaining illegal entries into their own countries would be a reasonable option that could benefit both sides. Also, drug detection dogs used to sniff out contraband in postal services would help. However, cutting off energy supplies can be used as a bargaining chip if a reasonable agreement is not reached just as a tarrif can be used.

    It seems to me that the only tool here is Doug Ford himself. Be wise and do what Alberta and Quebec are doing . Making threats like this will only hurt Canada more then what you gain.
    Clean up the immigration and the drugs then the tariffs go away. This is no time to act like a cocky rooster.

      In the canadian constitution its clear that natural resources are exclusively the domain of the provincial governments. Not the federal gov.

      Well, the problem is that Trump is not bluffing. He is dead serious. Canada thinks this is a game but Trump sees it as an excuse to now finally invade Canada to create a buffer zone controlled by the United States so we no longer have to share a border with Canada and don't have to rely on Canada just letting the drugs go from Canada to the United States. Same with Mexico except the Mexican President figured that out and now is stopping the illegal immigrant caravans that were coming into the United States.
