- First ride out on the new Orbea Rise H15.
Did the Blue Verderers trail to start with to get t he feel of the bike and how the power modes felt then went on and did one of the 'off piste' runs then onto the tables at the start of the main DH runs then the top section of GBU into Sheep Skull with Aiden (My partners son) and his mate Johnny. Ended up doing the Verderers trail 3 times. Finished with 2 bars of power showing and that was being free with Boost mode on the 3rd Verderers run.
Totally forgot there are 2 pre-programmed profiles (1 & 2) so I was using Profile 1 which is the more power friendly profile which to be fair, was rather good. Very impressed with 'Trail' mode, a bit of a 'do it all' mode.

Excellent, il est magnifique ce vélo
Definitely 👌👍
Nice vid , I got an H30 back in December, I did my first few rides on factory settings and thought the power was adequate. Then I connected the app and found that it was set knowhere near full power! Turned boost up to max and now, honestly, I can hardly tell the difference now between this and my full powered Commencal emtb ...., apart from battery life which is massively more on the Orbea. Shimano are missing a rick not putting this tune on all of their ebikes.
I haven't looked at tge app fully yet. I'm going to see how I go on Profile 2 then maybe look to tweak the settings. I don't think I'll go full fat mobility scooter settings as I want to work a bit harder but you never know, that may change 😁 I remember you, I asked you a couple of Qs before I took delivery of my bike, poss suspension related?
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer ah yeah now you mention it I recognise your username , i ride at the fod all the time! I agree with you about not wanting to be in full power mode , I only set boost to full power and actually, it’s not quite full fat power but not far off. Trail and eco are wound down but I do ride with full fats a fair bit so it’s nice to have the option if I’m hanging
The FOD is a good one, have to get back down there.
Great video! I’m about to get one but having a hard time deciding what size to get. I’m just barely 6’2” and always I’m between size large and x large. How tall are you?
Hi Scott, I'm 6ft 1½" and I find the XL to be perfect for me 👌
glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent, now i think i have to buy one....
you're ripping it! so fast!
Nice video! I wonder if you did the Transcambrian trip again with this bike how many spare batteries would you need on you....
I wouldn't, the Wild FS is my big adventure bike. I have the range extender on order, coming this month hopefully (April). As to how many you woukd need to do the TCW, I guess you could do it with one range extender, maybe something to look at one day eh?
Great video! What front mud guard is that you're using?
Thanks 👍 It's the RRP Proguard (the long one)
There is lot of rattling noise, is it the motor or something else? I have order one and suppose to collect. Your advise on noise will be appreciated.
I think that's the power cable for the gopro. It's happened on a few Vids including some on the Wild but I think it's sorted now (different routing from the rucky or bumbag). Check out a few of the later Vids where that noise doesn't feature. You're gona love the bike regardless 👌
Hi, just wondered if you have ride wrapped your frame, got my bike hopefully arriving next week.
Hi, yes, I got MTB Monster who I ordered it through to fit the Invis (Whent for Matt in the Grey frame) Saved me from making a total mess of it 🤗
Interesting to see your reaction in profile 2.
I completely forgot about Profile 2 and yeah, it will be interesting to feel what difference it makes. Guess it was all the excitement of the first outing 😁
I have a full fat Cube Acid eBike hard tail… I was looking to make some upgrades but I fancy a fullsus which brought me here.. I know you aren’t a weight junky but I’d say these Orbeas must be half the weight of my Cube.
So I’m relatively fit in my mid forties and ride my cube with minimal assistance at most times and only add extra power when I’m knackered… so the way these bikes are tuned takes my interest.
With a budget of around £5k would you recommend this bike or now that you have had the bike a while would you recommend some other bikes for the price?
Hi and sorry, just noticed your comment! 😔 Yes, I would definitely recommend this bike but I also have the Wild FS M10 which I also recommend (Full Fat scooter) and would never sell. I guess it depends on what you want to do the bike? So either or .........
This is a Great video, very interesting. You flew round there easy enough. Just wondering if you were using the full 60nm when in boost or turbo whatever it is, And is that enough power to get you up and over the steep hills on the peaks or Lake District on a day out.
I can't really answer your Qs, I was just using Profile 1 and the 3 modes as required but using Trail mostly with Boost on the final Verds loop, as to how many 'Nm's' I was using is anybodys guess?? I'm off up the Lakes this week but I'm taking the Full-fat for these 2 day's. I'm sure the Rise would be able to do the Lakes and Peaks. Once I get my range extender I'll be looking to do big day rides. And yes, I flew round but its the FoD, its easy enough, no rocks or mountains.
Ok thanks for the reply, il be looking forward to seeing your future videos all the best.
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer it’ll easily do the peaks, take mine out over them no problem
Lovely bike.Extra large, could you say how tall you are please.
I'm 6ft 2 inch 👍
You mention the suspension is 170/160, aren't these bikes 150/140 ?
Thinking of getting one but curious how you found the smaller breaks on this? stopping power good enough?
Yes, they are 150/140 but I fitted a 170 airshaft and fitted a longer stroke shock. I think the brakes are grs8, loafs of stopping power 💪👌👍 All these people that stick 4 pot systems on have too much spare money and feel that it will make them a better rider when in fact they are just your average all gear no Feckin idea bloke.... In my personal opinion of course. The stock brakes are perfect👌 Currently running with Gorilla sintered pads🦍 👌👌
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer cheers for info, time to order one 👍
So tempted to place an order for this bike, or. Wild FS? I live near the FOD and like to squeeze in 20 - 30 miler rides with a few downhills. I’m nearly 50 🤦🏻♂️ and no down hiller but like to ride hard. Does the Rise lend itself for this riding?
I have a Wild FS M10 which I love, its my big adventure bike due to the range extender (multi days) plus, its an awesome piece of kit. I'm 58 in 2 weeks and I got the Rise to do big single days and tge DH stuff. I have a Whyte G170S but it's just to knackering on a regular MTB but you kind of get a mix of that with the Rise as I keep going on about. I think there is a bit of a wait for the Hydro Rise's? Ordered mine in December and it arrived first week in March from MTB Monster 👌
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer that’s good to know. I have Whyte S150 and ride round the FOD easily covering 20 - miles and recently the Gap ride I saw you also rode. Sometimes I just need some extra HP or a day / morning just doing the DH stuff for fun. I was a bit sceptical of the range in the H15 but looks ok, I think 🤔
@@markhoward73 I've replied to one of the comments on this about the range in this ride. The Wild is also good to chuck downhill also 👍
How tall are you? Did you need to make any adjustments to fit on the bike? How similar to a regular mtb is it?
I'm 6ft 1½. I'm an XL frame size so no adjustments. See my other vid gir suspension changes. I don't ride regular MTBs so don't but it rides great, totally different to my carbon Wild FS M10.
Have you made any adjustments to the response characteristics via E tube?
None as yet, standard seems OK to me.
FOD is on my to do list
Give me a shout when you plan to go, I'll come and say hello. Carpark starts getting chokka and by 9 its pretty much full so bear that in mind. Nice Wrekin vid btw 👍👍
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer some of those descents were close
Hi .... Does the bike fit on the rack on back of car ok ??? clamps go round the down tube etc I have Thule roof rack and was wondering if it would go on that ... Cheers nice work
I have 2 bike racks. The one I use most is a simple clamp on the tow ball, from eBay, cheap as chips, bought it when I first got a bike ages ago and works a treat for my full-fat scooter and the semi-skimmed scooter. No clamps with this, just rest it on the 2 arms then strap it down. Been faultless, twenty odd quid well spent. I also have a fancy 3 bike rack from Halfords which fits onto the tow ball. That has the clamp arms and it and again, it works fine for both scooters. No clamps to go on down tubes, they fit on the top tubes though. When I went to the Forest of Dean, the day of this vid, I guy asked me if I had any problems with the 29'er fitting in the wheel channels. He had a Halfords rack like mine but a 2-bike and either his or his wife's medium or large 29'er fell off on the way there! Said both of my XL 29'ers fit on fine and never had any problems (User error me thinks 🤫)
What is your height? I'm about to buy one and I'm stuck between sizes. THANKS
I'm 6ft 1½ give or take. Orbea's do come in on the small side. My Wild FS is an XL and I'd say this one feels a 'tad' smaller than the Wild but I'd need to compare measurements. Which I have now done and they pretty much the same but ir does feel smaller. That said, its a cracking bike, handles really well and I'm very happy with the size.
THANKS!! I can't wait to get mine.
How did the battery last with your mileage and climbing?
Was about 27 miles and only around 2800ft elevation. Used trail mode mostly with a lot of boost for the 3rd and final Verds loop to see how it affected the battery. Ended with 2 bars left which wasn't too bad I thought.
Roll on June! Enjoyed the video and how happy you were!
How much does it weight being alloy XL?
I don't know, best Google the specs. I don't do the 'weight thing', all I know is that it's lighter than my Wild FS M10 but heavier than my Whyte G170S. That's all I need to know and I know it rides and handles great.
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer Thanks, I was wondering since I saw reviews saying the H15 L is about 21-22kg. So I thought there is a big change of the XL being even closer to full fat bike.
Great Vid,I Was Looking at getting one of these as i Realy like the idea of it After owning a Levo SL I found that was too week But was a Good weight
But after watching this i am Not so Sure About it.
From what i can tell it looks like your putting a lot more efort in riding it compared to a full power e mtb So as i Only went emtb Because i did my knee in riding 14k off road for years Although i would realy like a Lighter bike i can Not put a lot of effort in to go up hills
If You are Quite Fit With no injurys I would say a Levo SL is a better bike if you just need a little Help as it only weighed 19kg.
Now Decided This is a Better Bike than the Levo Due to Only a Bit More weight But its a lot more powerFull witha bigger battery and Still Looks like a mtb and Not a big Heavy E bike,So i Went and Ordered one For July Del,
The power and assist is there but as I keep mentioning, you do need to work for it but that doesn't mean its no good, on the contrary , its brilliant and great that you get the benefits of the eee'B but you get a real good workout, well, that's what I found. I've never ridden an SL but I don't think I would ever get one, not with the 35nm motor, may as well stick with a regular bike 😂 but it would be interesting to try one to compare the 65 to 35?
If you have a dodgy knee, I'd go Full-Fat and screw the weight, at least you'd have no issues going up hill plus you'd have big fun. I'll never sell my full-fat mobility scooter, its brilliant on the big mountain stuff.
I Will Have 2 E Bikes Big Full Power and one of these for Normal trail riding etc,Keep making the Great Vids as They are Helpfull and Fun to Watch
Just take the bladdy music off!!!! Can't hear you and it's crap
No and tough, it's just me talking shite anyway but the Classy Syd Dale music stays. You could always mute it......
