Greetings Peeps! Just me and my eeeB adventures and the Honda C90 ⚡😁⚡🛵👌🛵👍
I'm Andy, a well rounded down to earth 60 year old Northern bloke from Lancashire living in Herefordshire and loving my eMTB adventures on my Orbea Wild FS M10 and Rise H15. With Wales on your doorstep, it would be rude not to! And now, adventures on my Honda C90 and now my Honda CT110 Trail😜😁👌👍

1986 Honda C90 engine mounts Vs Lifan 110 engine mounts
Following a question from a Tuber re engine mount sizes, I decided to do a video rather than reply to his Q as it may help others in a similar situation or if you have a Cub and want to swop the engine over for a Lifan 110.
So far I have had no issues with the Lifan, it runs great and is really good on fuel, the best I've had on a 'brimming' tank is 125 miles - video on my channel, the Richard Burton ride with Justin on his CT110 Aussie Postie.

Absolute Con 😮
Nice ride,so it would do about 60 miles in those conditions with 960wh ,if you only had 720wh prob around 40 miles ?
You Dont Have to Justify How/Why you Bought this ?,What i Want to know is What Does it Ride Like ,Is the motor Loud, gear change how does that work, how far can it go on a charge and all that stuff !!!
@@Pete68T Motor noise, some, not an issue. Gear change, fine. Rides different to a chain and cassette bike but that's because it's different. Battery range, too early to say.
No paint to scratch
@@Pete68T No, but you do get a small piece of official Nicolai Scotch-Brite pad to scrub any marks out 😂

Great video of some awesome countryside, my neck of the woods, do a lot of running round there, was up my the mast Mid November and even though I've been there many times I almost went past the track I wanted it was that misty and wet.
@@fredm2450 Thanks for that Fred. Yeah, it's a really nice area..... when the weather is good. Looking forward to going back next year when it's dryer. Running? What's is this 'Running' yiu speak of? I'm surprised anybody falls for this.
Hello.. Just found your video.. I have a Yamaha V80 moped and is very similar to the C90.. Strange question but if you still have the original engine have got measurements for the engine mounting points... Many thanks Glen
@@stripfix1979 Hi, what measurements are you after and if I have time I'll dig it out and take some measurements, could be a RUclips vid in the making......
@OldNorthern_eMTBer many thanks for getting back to me.. If you could maybe get the width of each mount so I can measure the gap in my frame and a rough distance apart from each other that would be perfect... 👍
@@stripfix1979 Hi Glen, I'll have a look at the weekend. Subscribe to the channel for the video, feel free to lo e, share and comment on my random sh!te 😁👍
What Mudguards are you using I am looking for something similar?
@@patton1977 I made it myself out of old mudhuggers.
@OldNorthern_eMTBer that's a cracker
The front is an RRP Pro Guard
The Nicolai brakes are lovely and quiet....very unlike the squeaky Orbea ones. You're pleased with the new bike I imagine.
@@bucksboatanchors3328 What helps with brakes is how you wash the bike, just water, no chain degreaser stuff to get on the discs etc and yes, lovin the new bike 👌
Oh ok, thanks so much for the info.
@@russellemms6970 You can also order through Geometron bikes in Monmouth, Nicolai have partnered with them.
Nice one. It was a bit moist this weekend out there. Old Bert left the land saturated.
Yeah, it's a bit of a bugger. It's seasonal weather so it's to be expected but we Brits do like a moan about the weather 😂
You're right, sometimes we got to cut it short. I rode yesterday at Darren Fawr MTB trails (Garw Valley, near Bridgend) and same weather, so binned it off after couple hours and only used 30% battery (630wh). No rear mudguard so I was well and truly covered in muck, so next ride I'm using your solution, and fitting my rear mudguard, and I don't care what the fashion police have to say lol. My Crud XL on the front looks cool and does the job though.
Yep, no shame in cutting a ride short for whatever reason, the route will always be there so best to save it for another day without any unnecessary injuries or damage. I just hope the Welsh weather in Snowdonia is OK next week🤞 Big mudguards are a must, can't be doing with getting soaked straight away, besides, regardless of what they look like, you are looking forward, not at them so who cares, apart from the trendies who care about the look over practicality 👎
Great video as always, admire you for going out in all weathers!! I'm too much of a fair weather rider!
If it was tipping it down when I woke up, I'd have rolled back over and gone back to sleep 😂
Lovely bike, do you mind me asking where you got it from, I'm very interested in one. Thanks for any info.

You will need a longer exhaust
Really? Why?
Is not the 110 engine longer from exhaust port to the hanger on the frame
@@AnthonySmallman Nope. Bought a new, non-original C90 exhaust off ebay (£49) and it fitted no problem. There is no difference in size to the original engine.
I bought my wild with the range extender after seeing you loved yours, Look forward to you giving us some real feedback on the mgu 👍🏼
@@billygreen9512 The Wild is an amazing bike , I love it, especially with the range extender but I've had enough of chains, indexing, derailleurs etc. I'm sure at some point you will be able to convert a regular motor to a belt drive system with a geared hub but that's way off, if at all.
Where about are you up north ? like to have a look at the Nicolai in the flesh , I have the simplon mgu. Love not having to mess about cleaning the drive train.
Hi, I'm not Ooop't North, I'm in Herefordshire but originally from Kirkham, in between Preston and Blackpool but with Yorkshire blood (Best of both worlds 👍) I was about to pull the trigger on a Simplon, was waiting for the shop in Glasgow to open then read that Pinion were partnering with other brands so I hung back then soon after, this thing was announced 😍 Was a bit unsure that there was no range extender but I reckon I'll be fine with the 960 when I do my multi-day rides 👍 Its a gorgeous piece of kit, proper work of German engineering art 😍😍👌 How are you getting on with the Simplon? And yes, no bloody faffing cleaning a chuffin chain and nothing to break off in the middle of nowhere!
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer Used to do a lot of work over at Ribby Hall village near Kirkham. Unfortunately my bike has had a fault, The MGU came up with an electrical fault, PCB error. Love E-bikes jumped on it straight away, unfortunately the communication with FIT was a bit slow going back and forth with emails until I got in touch with Pinion. They have sent a new MGU , and I'm waiting for it to be fitted. But while I did have the bike, it was great. 500 miles in 5 weeks for me, iv managed 47miles with 1300m of climbing with the 960 battery in 4 hours, that would of taken me all day on the old normally aspirated bike ! one other thing I did notice, and that was that the belt tensioner does get caught on the rocks. Iv made a stainless steel bash guard to cover the bottom of the motor and pull . really like the look of your bike and was thinking about trying to get one, but there wasn't anyone nearby, even though Glasgow isn't close !
@@Johngott1971 Sorry to hear about the fault but nice to know Pinion sent a new MGU. Who's going to fit it for you? I have sent a few emails to FIT while waiting for the bike to arrive asking about batteries but never got a reply. I like big rides, the Nicolai is replacing my Wild FS M10 as the adventure bike which is a great bike, especially with the range extender kit and spare batteries, I love it but its just the chain and derailleur which is the problem, had enough of all that crap so its good to get some battery info. Got some big rides planned next year and hope to do my birthday ride again, the alternative Traws Eryri. Drivetrain issues and a deep bog incident stopped me from reaching Conwy in April 😖 May even do the Welsh C2C again, one or the other plus other stuff. I got my bike direct from Nicolai and you can also order one through GeoMetron bikes in Monmouth (Ganarew, Monmouth NP25 3SR), they are a partner with Nicolai and GeoMetron bikes are basically Nicolai bikes with a different logo. My bike has a different style of tensioner to the Simplon. Early days yet but I always put protection on my bikes. I use a piece of old tyre to protect the down tube and some to protect the motor from rock strikes, which does happen a lot. My Wild took a rock strike which made a minor chip on the side of the motor casing so from then on, it was full protection and the Nic is no different. I've managed to get something sorted and fitted so looking forward to the next ride to see how it goes - V1 or....? 😂
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer The bike is up in Glasgow as I type. It has to be fitted by them and then be matched to the controller. It also looks like FIT have had some issues with the controllers, and if that fails, the bike has to go back to have the controller matched to the motor. I have also emailed FIT with no reply from them. I did call in to see the guys down at GeoMetron after I had got the simplon, I may get a second bike, money to burn and you can't take it with you, Plus I do think that the Nicolia is lovely bit of kit. Im with you on the drive train crap, I converted my Haibike to run with a Roholoff hub and Bosch motor a few years ago, but not a match to the all in one of the MGU.
@Johngott1971 Money to burn indeed Sir! 😳 I've often thought about the feasibility of doing the belt drive mod to my Rise, so feel free to pass on any tips 👍 Where are you anyway?
I bet that bike is a dream to ride downhill..... zero chain clatter 👌
Definitely, you just hear tyre noise 👌😁
It will be interesting to see how the bearing seals hold up to water ingress.
Might want to study up on belt maintenance, you do need to be quite fastidious with the belt to get the maximum life out of it.
@@tonyyates2012 Nope, that's it, wash and visual check 👍
I'm only suggesting reading up on your belt tensioner setting, keeping an eye on your teeth and noting any sprocket wear. Sprockets and belts can wear prematurely if you have tension problems.
There's actually an app for the belt tensioner, the app can tell if your tensions correct by asking you to twang the belt, it can tell by the sound if its correct. I'm not even joking, it's available on Android or IOS.
@tonyyates2012 Yeah, I know about the app and the 'twang' test but it's something I won't be rushing to do just yet.
Easy peasy
