I have had the H15 since may and I'm super impressed by the bike, rides so good and the RS motor is so natural feeling. I only ride it in profile 1, tried 2 but then it lost that natural awesome feeling.
I'm considering an emtb so I can cover more distance in a 1 to 4 hour ride. I'd go with the lighter less powerful emtb. Thanks for displaying this Orbea in action.
I love my h15! First thing before I even took delivery of it was have the shop install a 160mm airspring and XT 4 pot calipers. I recently put my ripmo wheelset on it with 203 F and R rotors and assegai/dissector and love it!
got 4 eMTBs and I luv my Spesh Turbo Levo SL as much as I do my Full-Powered. Only gripe I wish for is they give the SL at least 50 nm of torque instead of 35 nm of torque
So your question, I bought a Rise H15. So that's my answer! I put Code RSC brakes/H2 rotors, GX AXS and Reserve SL|30 wheels on mine and it still weighs 46lbs. It's an awesome trail bike, but I will agree that on black diamond technical features the weight is noticeable. I need to build up upper body strength for that. Oh yeah, my upper link creaks bad as well. Haven't pull it apart yet to grease it up...
I'm interested in the Rise as a way to extend my rides, I'm not able to go as far as I did back in the day. They should have called it The Cialis. Sick riding.
Orbea really pushed the eMTB world with the original Rise and the Hydro was a great evolution of the Rise lineup to bring similar performance with an eye on pricing. Like you mentioned, there are some limitations to how burly you can get with this bike but we think this is Orbea's test platform for something cool coming that's more related to the Rallon. We don't have the inside scoop on that (yet) but this is our suspicion.
Yeah I’d love a Rallon with a little motor like the Rise. Or just 2 degrees slacker Rise, with a stiffer frame, and a burlier rear shock! And the biggest upgrade of all would be more dropper post clearance!
@@JeffKendallWeed That is the bike I am still waiting for light weight and enduro 160mm fork, every person who reviews (and me)says the same thing larger breaks, rotors and dropper post when will they get it?
I built my own first wheelset with Raceface Arc rims, 28H, J bend, DT Swiss 350 hubs and Sapim Race spokes. It was the best part of my bike build, and I cannot wait until my next full build set. I definitely want to check out coloured aluminum spokes, if not Berd spokes for addes weight reduction. The Berds might be out of my capabilities though.
That creakings probably coming from the spindle in the upper linkage, if you take it apart and put some threadlock om the spindle teeth that should stop the creaking
Hey Jeff I’m a big fan of your riding style and your super entertaining videos, they are really unique. I’m really into doing manuals myself and so I have one question for you, what if you could design the perfect bike for doing manuals on trails, what would be the geometry numbers? for instance how long would you have your chain stay? How slack would you have your head angle? what would be the perfect bottom bracket height and the right reach for a optimal body position while doing manuals?
I finally demo'd an EMTB last week in Santa Cruz: Turbo Levo. I was shocked how effortless they are; I went on a 12 mile ride and didn't even break a sweat. I wonder what Jeff sets his power output to? On this demo since I wanted to test out the capability I left it at 100%. My Verdict on Ebikes: I will no longer be a hater, but view them as a separate category entirely. I still do value that Cardio component of this sport! And look forward to the challenge when I go out for a ride. So I still appreciate pedaling until I have joint issues ( 50 now with no issues yet.). Eventually I'll pull the trigger on one.....LOL.
The turbo levo is nothing like this bike.I used a levo late last year then bought the rise H30 and it’s night and day, the Rise is really natural feeling compared to the levo which feels like it takes over.
Try a light weight one, I think they are more fun and you still sweat. But yes, they are a different category. Definitely should be a 10 min trail etiquette video every time someone buys a ebike or cross country bike or spandex outfit…
If you own one and set the modes in the way you want it with the right assist and power settings. It's a whole different ballgame. Like you said you just got 100%. Which means the assist was all the way up the whole time.
You can adjust that linkage with the preload tool that came with the bike, tends to be too tight making it creak. I have a performance elite 160 fork on mine and one offset Bush in the shock. I love the float x shock that's on it.
I like what Orbea is doing. Totally NOT into a heavy 50+ pound full fat E-bike, so the Rise is interesting to me, just too trail oriented. A lightweight carbon 42lb long travel Enduro with something like the new Fazua Ride60 system or the TQ motor from the Trek EXe and enough juice to do 20 miles and 5000ft is all I need. The Kenevo SL would be about perfect if it had a better lightweight motor like the TQ or Fazua, the specialized SL 1.1 is just a little too weak in comparison.
Buddy had the levo SL, I rode it and now he has the Kenevo SL, he sold the Levo after he got the Kenevo. For larger guys we are 6'4" and over 220lb, motor is just enough if you are in good shape for 3500 vert in turbo with extender batt. New Transition lightweight enduro Ebike coming in the spring check it out.
If I was to get another light weight ebike, I would get a kenevo. For now I love my Gen 3 levo and my yt decoy mx. Specialized needs to bump up to at least 50 nm of torque to catch up with competition.
the rise is ahead of it's time right now for sure. there are some issues with it but it's really solid. thing is is that they're really expensive used and even more expensive now, so it's basically out of reach for my mountain biking budget. really looking forward to seeing more options in this category in the future though
@@ericpeysar2593 they refreshed it this year so likely clearing old stock. the market has softened a bit for these bikes. also, i’ve seen a lot of issues with chain stays cracking on the forums and orbea being difficult to work with. i’ve held off for now sadly.
Hey Jeff! thanks for the review on the H Rise. I'm the proud owner of a H15, I'm in north tahoe and trail ride (light enduro) stuff. My daily was a first Gen Hightower current ly set up MX with DPx2 rear, 160mm Fox 36. Love that bike, however the wife bought me the H15 and I'm having a blast! I've just picked up a 160 air spring for the 36 however you got my attention with the BurgTec offset addition to this test bike. Can you speak to the choice of changing the shock offset vs lengthing the fork? I am also running a Renthal 33mm stem. The Rise is just shy of 600mi on the odometer... makes me giggle like a kid, even though I've been riding mtb since '81. Oh as always impressive manuals! My manual game on this bike needs work, wheelies ok, manuals are inconsitiant. :0
oh hey jeff, about the linkage, a lot of people have reported that it's been super dry from the factory and needs to be done with lube. the orbea rise groups on facebook are way more active than basically any other ebike group i've seen, so you can keep up to date there. there's been some more concerning issues about the rise that's been reported, like rear triangles cracking while JRA on the carbon models and just people breaking the pivot axles from trying to set up the bike as a mini enduro and treating it that way.
Thanks for another great video in the Orbea line.....the dropper post lenght is something I am very interested in. In the technical Blue Papers of the Rise I read the following: Rise Size "L" with 150mm dropper post, the minimum is 695mm and the maximum 824mm. For the Rise in "XL" it is 744mm and 874mm. I have an inseam of 880mm, so the XL with 150mm should suit me fine, because I do never fully stretch my legs while riding....or am I wrong?
I have an h15. I had been eyeing the M's for a while, but soon as the h series was announced I found a shop that had some incoming orders. I live in Alaska and had to get it out of Las Vegas. I got my h15 before the price increase so it has awesome spec and battery for great price! I don't think the smaller battery would have been enough for my riding, and I am willing to sacrifice the few lbs for bigger battery and more affordable bike.
Hmm, I rented an Orbea Wild E bike in Durango a couple of months ago. Brand new, out of the box and it came with the Bosch motor. Seems unusual for a company to use different brand motors across their range. Maybe they determined the different brands have different advantages based on battery size and application? The Wild being a bigger, longer range bike?
Love my RiseH!!! The infamous creak from self-tightening of the upper linkage. Widen the gap ever so slightly and apply a little dry lube does the trick! (See below) Thanks for showing us what the bike is capable of! ruclips.net/video/coZcwLx2e54/видео.html
Pretty surprised that this is 47 lbs. That's heavy, and I'm guessing that is a size medium? So am I looking at 50 lbs for an XL? At that point it's not really the lightweight category anymore. I guess that makes the choice between H and M an easy one
We are soooo close to being there… range depends on your expectations. I can get 5k of vert out of the Rise, but that’s ~2.5 hrs for our local trails. When it’s flatter, it can go waaaay longer- but it’s hard to find trails rough enough that aren’t surer steep.
I bought my M10 Rise from Jenson a year ago and love it! Great bike!
I picked up a Hydro in April. Love it! Did manage to get a One Up 180mm to work (I’m also 5’8” on a medium).
Same here! Oneup is the way to go for maximizing your dropper travel on any frame with its shorter overall stack height.
New bike day for me today..got straight out on the trails on my Rise H30..so much fun, light and really agile. Super bike 🤙🏽
I have had the H15 since may and I'm super impressed by the bike, rides so good and the RS motor is so natural feeling. I only ride it in profile 1, tried 2 but then it lost that natural awesome feeling.
Same for me, profile 1 is all i need. I enjoy riding 75k of trail and 1000m climb between charges.
