    I have the 2023 Rise and yes the frame is comfortably flexi with my 240lbs. There has been some tire rub on the both insides of the chain stay. Maybe I’m heavy enough to jump to a Wild instead.
    I listen for the nuggets of detail of your shock tuning etc and other setup. Your use of the 0.8cu volume reducer is in line with my use of 0.7cu. Knowing this detail really supports my interpretation of what the Float-X needed on my 2023.
    Thanks for all of your great videos. They inspire me to grow my trail skills.
    You’ll see on your Patreon pages this week.

      Thanks Kevin, I just saw your Patreon join, thank you!!! It's been a while since I rode that older H20, which would be similar to your 2023. Such a great bike! I liked it so much that when my next door neighbor needed a bike, I recommended it to her as the ideal "starter eMTB," and it's a great rig. I do with there was angleset compatibility, but a minor gripe! Enjoy your sweet rig!

      @@JeffKendallWeed I also added 160 mm E-thirteen crank-arms, one Burgtec offset bushing and kitted the Fox 36 Factory to 160mm. The Burgtec bushing is my flip-chip. These ideas came from your original Rise review from Oct 2022. I did use an offset headset on a 2018 Scott Genius back then.
      Thanks so much!

    I'm in the UK and I took the exact same bike out for a Demo last October, I really liked it but hated the lack of battery indication so have upgraded my Garmin to be able to display the information from the bike, I ordered on in November and will hopefully get it in early Feb, I've gone for an entry level LT in the alloy instead of carbon.

    My riding is part rocky, rooty, pedaly trails and part epic long rides with steep, technical, extended climbs. My choices are being narrowed down to the Rise LT and the Amflow. Not sure I want to roll the dice on an Amflow, and I hear it's even more flex than the rise.
    Every other full power Emtb just seems too heavy for my style.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  Месяц назад +7

      Yeah the Amflow is absolutely not a proven product. Not even the motor. I peeped the Amflow Facebook group, and saw quite a few speed sensor issues... Even though DJI makes amazing products, and I own a bunch of them, it seems early to dive into one of their first attempts at a bicycle. I have reached out to DJI to ask for an Amflow to test, and they said "maybe!" Fingers crossed it comes together!

    I ended up with a very similar bike, the Giant Trance Elite E+, which seems about half a generation behind... but I got it for less than $4k from the TPC closing, so I can't hate that. I think that this trail 140/150 travel size bike is about the perfect middle ground, like you talk about in the intended uses. Really happy with the bike, it's my first try with a Yamaha eBike motor. Not sure if you've ridden any of these Giant bikes, but worth comparing against if you do!

    Hi Jeff, a couple of questions as I am looking for a possible replacement of my Orbea Rise (Alloy Model 2022) which I converted to a 160-150 with a longer fork and a cascade linkage and a coil shock.
    Compared to the H-model you tested, does it ride better (=more capable going downhill)?
    Would it make sense to follow the same route and make it more progressive in the rear (if cascade components does offer it) and higher stack height with a 170 fork?
    Or perhaps we are pushing too far the limit of a trail bike and the new geometry is as good as it should be...
    I know orbea usually warns that warranty will be voided but my experience is that the bike is more than capable of handling these changes without a dent in the frame or linkage suspension (3.000 km of brutally testing is my experience)
    Thanks for your videos, cheers from the home country of Orbea

    • @Kev2Bee
      @Kev2Bee 27 дней назад +2

      You could mullet any bike with a flip chip and two Burgtec offset bushings, so long as the bushings ($100pr) are installed to raise the BB height. My 2023 Rise has 160mm forks with one offset bushing to either raise or lower the BB height depending on terrain. The bushing will not rotate out of position once the shock bolts are tightened.

    With tiny OLED display modules costing under $20, and 10 addressable LEDs costing under $1, I don't get how Shimano would not put a battery indicator on some units.
    And even when they do, you don't get a percentage display. 2 bars can be 39% or 20%. The difference between pushing it up that last climb or riding it :O .. I just don't get it.
    That said, I am on my 3rd ep8, my neighbor is on the 4th in 2 years. I will never get a single Shimano part ever again :) ...
    Also: Garmin. I wear a Garmin when riding my e-bike because that way I get a percentage display.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  Месяц назад

      I did try to link up my COROS Dura GPS, it works great on the Shuttle SL to show battery percentage, but it never worked on the Orbea. Maybe I can buy a display? I dunno, I end up riding regular pedal bikes a lot more so I haven’t put too much effort into figuring it out. As for motors, I’ve actually never had an issue with a Shimano motor. Same with FAZUA. I have had a few minor issues with speed sensors or battery mounts over the years- but with all brands, none of them are 100% reliable. I definitely prefer the Shimano and FAZUA over the Bosch on the Norco though.

      I've received several of these. Jenson USA absolutely builds and re-boxes them, which brings initial work to a minimum. My neighbor recently bought a Rise from Jenson, and I helped her unbox it. It was just pedals, front wheel, and handlebar to install. In comparison, all the bikes that come direct to me from Orbea (media loaner bikes) are much less assembled- you can literally see in the video how the bars were empty as I was doing the initial build.

    The entire ebike industry is so far behind in user interface/experience compared to Apple and Google's OS's (apps). Shimano's app is awful and can't be used when the bike is charging. Why? Of all the times I want to the app to be useful is when the bike is charging. You know, like alerts for percentage of charging and time remaining. Also the EP 8 handle bar display shows 5 bars so a battery at 100% is the same as 80.01%. I could keep going but I have hope emtb companies will come out of 2005 and jump into 2025.
