    Doing an XC-Downhill track to compare the Rise with the wild...hmmm. Would love to see the comparison on a more all mountain or enduro track.

      Agreed! It was a case of making the most of the short time we had both bikes, on our local terrain.
      Having ridden both bikes (with a lot more time on the Wild, on more difficult terrain), my opinion is that the Wild easily come out on top in terms of outright speed. The Rise is a great Trail/Allmtn option but if you’re spending more time riding Enduro, I would pick the Wild every time. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    for information, the emax application allows you to modify the output power of the EP 801 via Bluetooth. in order to keep the qualities of the bike in terms of its autonomy, I simply increased the output power on the boost mode in order to use it only on very technical climbs. and that changes everything! in order not to lose the warranty, I return to the original resetting... I think this possibility should be authorized by Orbea. After all, we pay a very expensive price for a bike, even though this power restriction is not clearly indicated when buying it.

    This was very useful. While the Wild is a beast, there is a lot of appeal in the lighter Rise LT - the geometry is good, the travel is on the trail side, but probably enough for most rides. I am not sure if it would make sense increasing fork travel to 170, and eventually shock travel to 155 or 160 (likely not advised), but the older Rise was possible to mod, the frame being the bottleneck, which has been improved with the LT.

      Thank you very much, we are glad that the video has been helpful. As you say, for most riders, the Rise is more than capable enough, plus it has the benefit of being significantly lighter. It is not something that i have looked into, but I would imagine increasing the travel would be possible, but from my experience, it feels very capable in standard spec and I wouldn't bother. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting. Jason

    Great Vid - I have the Wild -it is an awesome bike for sure. It is my understanding that the Rise may be at 85nm but the RS -tune limits the watts to 500 ( i think or less) to preserve the battery - so even being lighter the Rise will never match the Wild uphill speed .. but then again no other motors do at least at this point.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for your comment, its much appreciated. The Wild is undoubtedly an awesome bike (it wouldn't have won all the awards and accolades it has, if it wasn't). Having spent quite a bit of time riding them over the last 18 months, I am also a Wild fanboy!
      You are correct, the RS+ tuning on the Rise means that it will never be able to keep up with Bosch CX motor, and as you say, there are not many that do!
      In addition to preserving battery, the RS+ tune is also designed to make the motor as lifelike as possible; it needs more rider input (in terms of cadence and rider effort/watts) in order to get the most out of it. In contrast the Bosch CX has power EVERYWHERE. It doesn't matter how you ride it, there is always power on tap!
      Thanks for watching our video. Jason

    Orbea Demo Day was at Birdsboro last weekend. Got to ride both the Wild M10 and Rise SL. Definitely big difference between the two. The Wild stole the show for me. Absolutely amazing bike. I went to my local dealer and demo’d the Wild Mteam for three days. I returned it and ordered myself a Wild Mteam woooooo! The Santa Cruz is pissed! 🤣😂👍👍🇺🇸

    Was on the fence for the new rise, but its still a pre-order in norway, and the cheapest i wanted was around 9k usd/eur. I found a Wild m11 axs for 7.5k usd/eur and pulled the trigger for the wild. Had a few trips. Its 750wh and honestly a bit heavy. I rented an old Rise and loved how light it was, but kind of got overwhelmed while going hard downhill. Also had to use boost at mye 110kg body weight xD. On the Wild i use eMTB mode primarily.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks for comment and sharing your experience. The new Rise goes a long way to closing the gap between the Wild and the old Rise, but still there is no bike that is capable of being as capable as the Wild both up and downhill, and being as light as the Rise. Battery cell density has progressed considerably over the past 2-3 years (vs the previous 10) so hopefully there will be a bike that hits the "sweet spot" in the not too distant future. Thanks for watching. Jason

    • @erichbachman7363
      @erichbachman7363 Месяц назад

      @@ebikecentre Yeah, I think a sub 20kg would be the sweet spot for a "full fat eMtb". If we could get 750wh down to that weight. The new Amflow looks like it could be such a bike, but some channel tested it and on full boost they used 33% battery in 37 minutes. Ofc running it on lower assist modes would make it last as long as a bosch, as these don't assist 120nm and crazy wattage as the Dji Avinox. Still feel like I would wait to see how that motor system handles use in bad weather etc.

    Question. Can you recommend bikes for bicycle touring. By touring I men using panniers on a rear rack and either panniers or other bags on the front for. I prefer to use drop bars.
    Thank you.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад

      Great question: There isn't wealth of drop bar e-bike options out there, and certainly in the UK (where the speed is limited to 15.5mph) they aren't all that popular (so its not really my area of expertise). However, if it were me, I would probably go with Specialized Creo2 SL Alloy Comp. Its a fantastic riding bike and has a natural feel to the motor,. It's lightweight and it has a reasonable battery range and optional range extender, plus it has plenty of mounts for carrying luggage. As its alloy it can take more knocks and bumps than the carbon version. However, if you want to go lighter, I would opt for the Comp Carbon version. I hope this helps. Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch our videos. Jason

  • @GC16199
    @GC16199 Месяц назад +1

    Great comparison! 👍I would also be interested in a range test, even if it's 630 on Rise vs 750 on Wild.
    From what I've seen in other reviews the Rise is supposed to be very power efficient but with less watts in the motor that is to be expected I suppose.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад +2

      That is a very good idea for a video. I will see what we can do. You are correct, the Rise much more efficient, partly because of the reduced power output but also because it encourages the rider to ride the motor properly (i.e. like an analogue bike) in order to get the most out of the motor (plus the bike is lighter than the average e-bike).
      Our Orbea rep has described it as a "rider's motor" and I would entirely agree with him. I thoroughly enjoyed the motor and found it to be much more lifelike in its application of power than the Bosch CX. Thank you very much for commenting and taking the time to watch the video. Jason

    • @lippeszabolcs1
      @lippeszabolcs1 Месяц назад +3

      Yes thats a good question. I teied the new rise and in the shop before the test i asked them to switch to the new 85nm mode. It was in default in the old mode. And in 10 mins I compared quickly with a 2023 wold and i felt that the rise was a bit stronger. I will test them in 1 week and i will know more but until that test it would be nice to get a confirmation from these guys that the rise was in the rs+ mode.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, the latest update certainly brings the RS motor "closer" to the power of the Bosch Performance Line CX but it will still lag behind on a steep climb. Thank you for watching and commenting. Jason

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад +2

      Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment. In addition to the two modes that the new Rise has, there has also been a significant software update released recently which ups the output of the EP801 motor. So although the level of torque remains the same, the peak wattage output has increased. However, even with the update the motor is still not as powerful as the Bosch CX.

    • @ebikecentre
      @ebikecentre  Месяц назад

      Hi Terry, great question. I can't comment on how much effort Tom was putting in vs myself, but yes, there would always be a disparity between two different riders, hence why the timed runs were me vs me. Even then the test is not an exact science, as you can argue that I would be suffering from more fatigue on the second run than the first, did I take the same line on both runs, etc.
      However, despite being my second run, the Wild was still significantly faster than the Rise. In addition, Tom was already 50m further up the climb before I set off, and still the Wild breezed past very quickly. I hope this further detail helps. Thanks very much for watching the video and for you comment. Much appreciated. Jason

      Are there bike brands with better customer service? Yes! Are the bike brands that are worse? Most definitely!

      The confusion might lie with the rear shock, as this is 150mm travel.
