before i got into megdeth, i wrote a song, and the way i played it was weird with the way the power cords were, well, my friend that turned me onto megadeth told me i was using spider cords, and apparently i didn't invent them lol still pretty cool
Oh my god the reason he stands that way is to balance the guitar with his legs oh my fucking god I always thought it was because he had to focus really hard my mind is blown
Dave isn't just a guitar player, he's the songwriter for a pioneering band of an entire genre of music (Megadeth ) and helped lay the foundation for Metallica. His confidence is as it should be. besides he's not one of these guys that can't fit his head threw the door. especially these days.
Him saying that "no one else can do that" was obviously a joke, but the thing is that nobody else would ever think of playing guitar that way and that's way Dave fucking rules.
Great stuff. I was saw Mustaine bar with his thumb over the top of the fretboard, using his pinky for the remainder of whatever solo it was(forgot). Brilliant playing.
Dave wrote a majority of the stuff of metallicaz first two albums. if he wasnt there, chances are they would not have made it. convenced james to play and sing. influenced kerry king of slayer(who was in megadeth for a period of time). formed megadeth. honestly out of all of the big four band memebers i think he contributed the most.
The universe retains balance in that Dave is (in his own humble opinion) completely awesome and he has hair of death. Yin and Yang. And we all smile with him.
You guys probably gonna kill me... but Washington is Next is the best metal song they wrote since Tornado... and don't bring me the Countdown to extintion Bitchin... we all know that album is way too far of being a metal masterpiece (it's structure it's really simple)
+Hitsugaya Tohka , it could be .....if... the 1st intro part wasn't somewhat borrowed from iron maidens wasted years and if he chorus section wasn't kinda like ''antisocial'' by trust. it's a good song but way to familair to be the best. countdown still has better songs on it.
Yeah, but... the wasted years type of intro is very common, and i know, but i don't know why Countdown doesn't get to me, i don't like the style, the atmosphere of that album... same with cryptic writings xD To me... Washington is the heaviest song of Megadeth in a long ass time.
have you ever heard the "system" has failed?. allot of heavy stuff on that one 2. united abomination as whole was a great album with a very very clean production. a really good album,i might even prefer it to endgame.
Yeah... but if i have to decide... i would say Dystopia is the most complete album since Youthanasia... Endgame was pretty good though but Chris solos didn't make me confortable...
i agree, chris was a sloppy guitarist. maybe to hot on the theory stuff. we all know some theorie but some litterally play the theorie and then it kinda sounds like a keybord thing, to locked in with scales and such and no freedom aside from the theorie. i think borederic is more like a john petrucci, set your metronome and practise your leads wich then become entirely soulles. kiko has best of both, he has feel and know what he play yet he just practise leads not scales only like chris b.
damn i remember watching this video when i was like 12 or what. now I'm 26! time flies damn fast but something that never change is I'm still Megadeth fan. Cheers :)
i love how dave mustaine loves his music. even james hetfield would refer to his own albums with disdain. especially the older stuff. mustaine is a father to all his music!
@explosion231 Well, it's not all about how fast someone can pick....it's about how well a solo compliments the song. Also, James played the solo on Nothing Else Matters.
@CemetaryGatesML yes they were. but Dave helped give them their image and wrote some of their best thrash songs on Kill Em All. He was also the one that convinced James to play guitar while singing
And then I walk away and I'm smiling....
+kovacs1080 Próbáld meg úgy ahogyan ő tette! Amúgy ez nem azt jelenti h senki más nem tudja megcsinálni, csak arra céloz hogy sokaknak gondot okozhat
No one else can't do it without tapping noob, you're one of those assholes play Highway Star solo with tapping.
Live this man
@@steveo9683 how does using a guitar technique that every shredder uses make someone an asshole?
Awsome haha
Obviously he doesn’t think NO ONE ELSE can do it? It’s just difficult and he’s proud of the fact that he invented that part.
Is Dave, of course he thinks nobody else can do that, this is the man that at some point has swear he invented spider chords
before i got into megdeth, i wrote a song, and the way i played it was weird with the way the power cords were, well, my friend that turned me onto megadeth told me i was using spider cords, and apparently i didn't invent them lol still pretty cool
@@antoniocenteno1483 he did tho
Jake E Lee did that shit in the 80s
Jake e. Lee is the true inventor of the thumb solo
When i heard this solo goes from fret 12 to 24 i thought his hands were two feet long until i saw him use his thumb
Stove_Oven _ exactly my thoughts!
"No one else can do that" *Laughs in paul gilbert*
Paul Gilbert's pinky is so long he can probably play that part without using his thumb😂
@@HCkev true 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He mean with thumb u moron...
Laughs in jake e lee*
@@pzdipuing No body is that stupid
Twelve years later Megadeth is still unrivaled and I just saw Dave pull that off in a live video today !!
Just tried it, it hurts.
its actually really fun to do and mess around with it
He's talking about the stretch. That's a long stretch.
"Cuz I know no one else can do that"
Im glad to know you know you are the best
That finger stretching man! That's gotta hurt!
mettalx1 it does. I love doing it, but it hurts like shit
Oh my god the reason he stands that way is to balance the guitar with his legs oh my fucking god I always thought it was because he had to focus really hard my mind is blown
The man with the frying pan his legs almost act as two other arms to *hold* the guitar while his real arms *play* the guitar
Same wtf
You thought he was focusing?? I thought the dude had to take a piss or somethin, just goes to show how fuckin out of it I am...
I've never played a flying V. I've always assumed he held it like that because it's so awkward to hold one. Now we know lol
And then I'm walk away and I'm smiling so. Because no one else can do that
Savage AF
THAT RIFF IS EPIC!
Dave Mustaine is a GOD he can brag whenever cuz he can back it up with his amazing talent!
Dave isn't just a guitar player, he's the songwriter for a pioneering band of an entire genre of music (Megadeth ) and helped lay the foundation for Metallica. His confidence is as it should be. besides he's not one of these guys that can't fit his head threw the door. especially these days.
"Kirk! Come down stairs you guitar teacher Mr.Mustaine is here"
Buckethead and dave can do that i think..
Lol buckethead and paul gilbert wouldn't even need the thumb... Their hands are so fucking big
ozzy Pretty sure Paul uses a smaller scale guitar.
@@EvilSewnit paul could do it on a standard scale guitar.
Buckethead can reach 1st to 24th with one hand. he is god
dave is a legend
i love this guy!! vocals plus lead is real tough!!
Dave is right. No one else can do that. Walking away WHILE smiling takes talent.
Him saying that "no one else can do that" was obviously a joke, but the thing is that nobody else would ever think of playing guitar that way and that's way Dave fucking rules.
mustaine one of the greatest musicians ever born :D
DAVE IS A MUSIC GENIOUS!!!
Dave has so much skill on guitar, ppl need to look at him as an American icon so some piece of trash, he's a legend in my head
that is sick !!!!
awesome Dave!
i just looove that riff! after that solo!
Great stuff. I was saw Mustaine bar with his thumb over the top of the fretboard, using his pinky for the remainder of whatever solo it was(forgot). Brilliant playing.

the riff at 0:27 is one of my favorites. glen drover is a beast lead player
Steve T? Anyone?
ABЯOL not AЯBOL yuh🤘
walking away & a smile..... ROCKS!!!!

"no one else" = Kirk.
kirk is overrated
He’s all pentatonic scale
but he is a great player
MAD Fiction04 no doubt about it
MAD Fiction04 no he’s shit
Dave influenced Kerry in his guitar playing...so...there would have been no Slayer, ya.
Donald Trump kerry has talked about being blown away by mustaines playing while he was in metallica
Same for James Hatfield in Metallica
@Donald Trump Kerry was Megadeth's first guitar player
slayer was first dumbass
Thats incredible.
Legend!
If I attempted that... uhh my fingers would fall off
"and then I walk away and I'm smiling.."
"cause I know no one else can do that" there're many who can do that..but still you re a great guitarist
Disregarding what he's said, I really love this guy
ohhh yeah! the king is here !
_"I invented music" - Dave Mustaine_
Ulysses O'Brien that's kinda truth
Megadeth all the way!
Dude's proud of his solo, as he should be
is incredible how dave do the solo!! with guitar between legs!! great ;)

@explosion231 Well, it's not all about how fast someone can pick....it's about how well a solo compliments the song. Also, James played the solo on Nothing Else Matters.
badass
@0intelligence0 Kirk actually didn't record the solos as Dave wrote them. He actually kept the basic melodies, and made them into something his own.
does anyone know where i can find the full version of this interview/lesson?
jajaja he is just amazing jajaj
yeah... no one else can do that jajaja
wooow mustaine eres un dios de la guitarra

"then i walk away and i'm smiling"
Dave Mustaine = God
@zer0dahero yea 12th fret and open string is an E but not the same pitch riff would sound obviously different if he used open E.
big whoop
@CemetaryGatesML yes they were. but Dave helped give them their image and wrote some of their best thrash songs on Kill Em All. He was also the one that convinced James to play guitar while singing
