@@ImYourOverlord Absolutely not. I do empathize a lot with Dave, he was dealt a shit hand and he made something amazing out of it, but his notoriety for being an ass is hardly unwarranted.
The Metallica guys are worth over 300 million each, Mustaine is worth at least 20 million. Don’t know why they would even bicker over table scraps at this point.
That seems to simplify a very complex situation. A situation that involves a lot of money, like a lot of money being made and lost out on. A lot of egos involved
Metallica has sucked since the day Dave left the band. That's because Dave wrote almost all of Metallica's best songs. Megadeths new album kicks ass. Metallica has sucked for over 20 years
It’s all just business crap. James is caught in the middle and this sounds like something no one is budging on. Dave wants credit on songs he claims he wrote but Lars has as much say as James on Metallica decisions. James can’t just grant Dave’s wishes and I think that’s the point. It’s a collective agreement. Dave should’ve never come in with ultimatums. No one responds well to that when you’re already on shaky ground.
I wish James would do a side project with Michael Poulsen. They could get their bluesy/western/cowboy metal fix there so that their respective bands could focus a bit more on the jamming.
Just for the record, I don't believe for one second that James Hetfield was wanting to do a project with Dave Mustain, and Dave refused because of some royalties issue over 20 years ago. I don't believe a word of it. If James Hetfield really asked Dave Mustain to do a project with him, Dave would have come crawling on his knees to do it. Also, When was the last time James Hetfield did a solo project? I'll give you a hint... never. He has said loyalty is a big thing for him. James Hetfield, in my opinion, would never do an alone project with anyone unless Metallica was no more. So, I don't believe Dave.
It’s only been 6 Years since Hardwired. Not that long. As far as Tool, who are one of my absolute faves, legal trouble and other issues are to blame for the 13 year drought.
To be fair Lars can remember dates, setlists from just about very show they've ever played and Dave has changed his stories thousands of times over the years

Iron Metallideth.someone suggested dave mustaine.dave murray.dave grohl on drums.dave lombardo on bass and david lee roth singing.theyd call it MEGADAVE
The truth is Metallica and Megadeth both as bands are stuck. They need to retrieve something that is missing from their past. Something that lies in the shadow. They need to reconcile each other, because there is themselves in the other. Until the paradox is resolved, Metallica and Megadeth will continue to be stuck.
James will never leave Lars, its actually rather sad. Its very telling who actually is in control of metallica. It would be cool to see james's stuff without Lars influence, but I don't think that work actually exists, not in a form that actually matters.
From all accounts involved, it is James who actually controls Metallica. Lars often interjects because he is short and has a big mouth, but Papa James leads that show.
Interesting perspective. To call it "sad" that two LONGTIME collaborators and bandmates since their late teens want to continue making music with each other. Just because Dave can't get along with anyone long term in Megadeth (aside from Ellefson, who's also gone) doesn't mean other bands have to be the same. James genuinely loves Lars like a brother. That's not sad, that's admirable.
@@BatFan1 You can call it what you want. But was Lars always good for metallica? No. Look at what he did to the bass on 'In Justice for all." Im saying Dave represents a part of metallica we never got too much of, and would be more valuable than James making another album with Lars. Also I want to add, James and Dave were making something together without Lars, but James still wanted Lars accredited. Why, as far as we know, this wasnt a megadeth and metallica collaboration but 2 individuals coming together to make music. James's overloyalty to Lars and that this collaboration will never see the light of day now, is what makes it sad. That James couldn't do something without Lars is Sad. This is an L for the metal community. I don't see how you can't.
He mentioned that it was the two songs - Metal Militia & Phantom Lord. Both of those songs were credited with Dave, Lars & James. So now 30 years after the fact he wants to change it? He also said that he wrote every note and wrote every word. Sounds like Dave is just being greedy. Am I missing something?
I get why Dave is still bitter. He was metallicas sound just as much as hetfields voice is. But man they did him a favor. Because of this he was able to frontman his own thrash band. It’s part of the big 4. One of the best to ever do it. And still have the guitar chops accolades. In Metallica he would’ve just been lead guitar. Now, if Metallica had taken turns with both Dave and James singing different songs, that would’ve been epic. But it never got that far. Dave is better off. He has full creative control and he’s respected as a monster. He just has a big ego.
If they can't agree on something as minor as royalty payments on a release that only die-hard fans are going to care about, there's no way they'll agree on things like creative decisions when it comes to an actual collaborative project. Sounds like it was never meant to be. These two have spent the last 40 years butting heads and they think they'll be able to work together somehow? I'm not seeing it
Both have done some incredible things together and apart. One album with Mustaine, Hetfield, Les Claypool (as he did once try out for them) and maybe the guy from Tool on the drums. Just one album, please.
Lar's is greedy we all know that. Still he deserves some split. James even if he agrees with Dave wouldn't jeopardize his band for him. Dave, with Dave it's all about integrity. Like his music.
People should just stop asking Dave the same shit they have for 30 plus years. He’s actually a nice guy I met him in May and super talented. Even Lars said in an interview the press won’t let the subject go, sticking up for Dave
Omg “ Mega” Dave and his ego. Lars probably did help write it and Dave was too intoxicated too remember. I have the same problem with someone I used to play with and it’s never been resolved because the guy is too intoxicated to listen to reason. Nowadays we have phones, record the process. It still makes me angry because I was not given credit that was due.
Sure maybe but when multiple others disagree and say no he helped on this one and that one. I didn’t say all neither did the rest of Metallica. But Dave is saying no not at all wonder how much he really remembers. I’m a megadeth fan too by the way. He has been known to not be sober.
Dave is just upset, like always. Lars probably did help write it, at the very least he arranged it. Mustaine just has a hard on for Lars. Lars wouldn't demand to be credited for something he had nothing to do with. If you believe that, you're just as delusional as Mustaine!
I think the fact that as big as Megadeath got, it wasn't quite as big as Metallica, really hasn't sat well with Dave and he's held a grudge all these years.
Because he says shit like he was “the only alpha male” in Metallica… he whines about being kicked out, but he can’t get over himself, in the same breath

Dave staying in Metallica would have held them both back. Dave would have continued making Metallica's existence a constant stream of battles and ruined opportunities. He also had way more potential than being 'just' lead guitarist, he was made to be a frontman. Getting both bands was definitely the best result for them, and the fans.
Man I know it’s their business but IMAGINE if James and Dave made a song(s) together or just the whole band imagine what could be made for the TIMES like this would be eternal and people from other generations can experience that music besides us (and guys I know he made song from kill ‘em all ride the lightning and maybe master but I’m talking about now not 30-40 years ago music)

They did already, its called the first 4 metallica records lol. They started sucking when they ran out of the music they stole from Dave. Dave already said they stole his music after they kicked him out. James and Lars are bums. WAY overrated.
@@jeremyjames1659 James Hetfield wrote those songs too. And Dave Mustaine only had major influence on Kill em all and already less on Ride the Lighting. He wrote some of it but not all of it. Master of Puppets regarded as their greatest album ever had nothing to do with Dave. But Dave gives credit to James for the songs off Kill em all too.
It's already been done, before Megadeth Mustaine was the guitarist for Metallica, Mustaine also wrote "Jump in the fire" and a couple other songs on the "Kill Em All" album
They HAVE made songs together!! LOL. I'm 40 years old and been a fan since I was in 5th grade. I love how many newbie fans there are because it makes them even more legendary. Megadeth too. Megadeth could play Metallica's songs, but Metallica can not play Megadeth's songs, they are another level.
If only "harder to play" meant "better song"
No one cares. Little Megadeth will always be under Metallica's shadow.
I've often said there is a timeline where Dave Mustaine never left Metallica and Cliff Burton never died. I kind of wish I could have been a part of THAT timeline.
Lars always thinks he has done more than he actually did.
he's the one who talked James into collaborating in the first place and the rest is history
Too bad Lars career in tennis never kicked off

I think it actually did because to this day Lars is quite fond of playing with balls.
Mustaine has aged like milk left under the blazing sun, while Hetfield looks like a chill grandpa.
Its true he never got over Metallica. But virtually in every interview he is also asked Metallica questions.
Yeah!! RockFeed - the news you already heard and seen 7 days ago everywhere else!

He was high as a kite during that time. Bands put out crappy records when they first get clean.
@@scottashe984 He was out of rehab. I have a book about how the album all came together.
Could you imagine what Rust in Peace would have been like if it would have been a Metallica album? Dawn Patrol would be basically a drum solo because Lars would turn down the bass. And Holy Wars or Polaris with Lars behind the kit would be an absolute tragedy.
Bro drugs inspire people to make great music look at Hendrix and Pink Floyd
@@cult_horror_junkie8144 Drug experiences are probably as useful as any other traumatic experience - you'll take the hit song that comes from that place but you'd rather have the hit song and a perfect life. But as far as really getting things done, obviously drugs are for losers who don't get things done, and who haven't gotten over their problems. Layne Staley said he didn't write songs on heroin. And he wasn't worth a damn after 1995. He could still write cool songs with Mad Season but he wasn't much of a vital rock star or a conventionally good rock vocalist anymore. Crediting drugs as having 'given us good music' is like some guy thanking fate for having him be molested as a child, or else he wouldn't have picked up a bass that one day when he was sad. Bro, I’ve never EVER seen someone with a bigger ego than Dave. ITS HIM that has to get over it. It’s him that keeps talking about them, it’s him that starts damn near everything. And it’s him that always decides not do something. I can’t imagine what it’s like having a personal hater for your entire life…
Like imagine having a successful band that’s done amazing things and is still able to tour but you can’t get over a band that kicked you out WAY BACK IN 1982
Dave is over it he’s been talking about all kinds of stuff the past year to keep megadeth in the media to promote the new album. Idk why nobody sees this I mean once a month there is some breaking story Dave releases.
@@Takaichi666- I'd have a little trouble getting over it too, if the band who kicked me out used my music on their first three major label releases. "You suck, you're out....but your music can stay"... I don't seem to remember one single Hetfield or Hammett song on a Megadeth disc.

I think James is embarrassed by the way Dave was treated in the filming of Some Kind of Monster. He was off at rehab and I feel it was planned that way. Lars was completely disconnected from Dave and Dave's feelings. I think James wants to act like Dave was never in Metallica. Again, these are my personal opinions.
As far as Dave, he was in the band for about a year, isn't on any studio albums and co wrote half a dozen songs forty years ago, but Dave acts like it was yesterday
@@MrOctober44 You're leaving some things out. Those half a dozen songs are on Metallica's first 3 major label albums, and one could argue that if nobody bought the first three albums....there wouldn't be a fourth, or fifth....making Dave at least partially responsible for Metallica's success. One could also argue Metallica MIGHT be even bigger today if Dave wasn't fired, and what Dave was fired for back then....is the SAME THING troubling James TODAY.
Or it's just Dave's personality. He's been problematic with many, many people fir decades including his former bandmates. Notice how nothing is ever Dave's fault and always everyone else's?
@@Skulllywag Dave never wrote anything on Puppets and he has be given credits on Ride for a couple of riffs. All these years without these two playing together, and I'm just fine with that.
There will be people who will side with Metallica, and there will be others siding with Mustaine. Meanwhile, there's another group of fans who fall in the "Just Release the Demos & Be Done With it Already" category. At this rate, the fans will probably miss out on material until someone passes away, and that's not fair to anyone.
If one of them passed away, they will weep. They still respect and love each other, despite their past.
I don't think so, mustaine is really sour towards everyone and ironically dumps band mates for bogus reasons with no second chance just like how mustaine complained he got kicked out of metallica.
KILL EM -IN PEACE tour would be nice ,with stages facing each other so allow do is turn around after a run of half hour 2 sets each then if your at the back you have the best view of both stages and every one thinks they got great tickets for one of the bands at the least, at some point they connect and play 4 horsemen ,thanks for coming, I would love that ,oh yeah I'm there right now

It would be cool to see james's stuff without Lars influence, but I don't think that work actually exists, not in a form that actually matters.
i dont think james trusts anyone else to guide his music.
Why would you want them to split? Metallica has one of the most badass music catalogs out there.
