It was just as relevant back then, and even before that. This has been going on for decades now. They don't want the people to have real say in our own government, from federal to local. Hell, go back to the Peace Sells era and re-examine the lyrics: "What do you mean I couldn't be the President of the United States of America? It's still We the People, right?" I know, you can see on "Blood in the Water" video, he was already struggling, I think some of his high notes were altered. I remember the time while Metallica was struggling to be as energetic and "young" as they were when Jason was in the band, Dave seemed to be stuck at time, he didn't age after 2009, I guess he was in his middle 40's here, but looked like he was about to reach his 30's.
@@michaelmartins177 His vocal was the best throughout the 90's and still great in 2004-2008. Gigantour 2005 DVD has no overdubs and he sounded great. He started to struggle during RIP annivesary tour, and was really struggling during the Big 4 tour in that same year. I think neck surgery and throat cancer impacted his voice big time.
189harvesterofsorrow ever heard of death angel... I am not disagreeing megadeth has some of the best but death angel has some fucking great ass lyrics.
He had to get neck surgery at some point in the early 2010s to where they added a metal plate to fuse 2 vertibrae together following a piece of bone braking off from all the headbanging. His voice was also starting to get a bit raspy after endgame (atleast you start to notice hints of it), probably a result of age, but the metal plate accentuated it alot. From what I`ve gathered from interviews, the metal plate presses up against his voicebox, which increases the raspyness, but also stops him from hitting the higher notes, which can be seen in live performances of their old music ( he often looks in pain and really staining when doing songs like hanger 18 and holy wars, and I`d imagine that`s also part of the reason why he hesn`t really done Washington is next live since, even though it`s probably one of their bes songs since the early 90s). The fact he is currently in his (early) 60s and went toe to toe with throat cancer just a couple of years ago hasn`t helped things either, though I`d argue that since he beat cancer and has had time to recover a bit, his voice currently sounds the best it has sounded in a decade, even if in many of the live shows I`ve watched recently his voice still sounds a bit tired and lacking in volume and energy (again, he beat cancer not too long ago and likely srill hasn`t fully recovered from the strain om his body, although it sounds to me like it is slowly but steadily recovering)
