They were pretty good but seriously a "famous" bass player is not enough to support a band. Look at Snake Pit, Slash is enough to stimulate that. Many singers go out on solo projects. Bass is a lonely instrument and bass players are usually weirdos and unstable and unfortunately those who are actually good and cool people get lumped in with the losers who "just cant play guitar".
