for a possible future nero build id highly recommend a bladesinger/battlemaster combination, with the right spell reflavoring and setup its an incredibly fun, effective and character vibe fitting build
I would honestly go warlock/fighter for this, action surge just screams Dante with how quick he is with chaining attacks together, that kinda thing, plus you're a very melee focused class so taking a fighting style like great weapon fighting or two weapon fighting fits both thematically and gives us a chance at more damage, second wind is just incredible for a build like this too so its a no brainer imo, Battle Master works thematically for Dante as well and fits his melee profile nicely and allows us to pull off some cool moves from the games, or Samurai is nice for advantage on weapon attacks and the 5 temp HP, I think Warlock falls off heavily after like 7th level anyway so if we were doing a 10th level build we've gotta take minimum 2 levels of Fighter, probably 3 and I would honestly go Pact of the Blade instead of Hexblade since Dante doesn't really use curses etc, it doesn't fit how he fights so I think the Pact of the Blade Warlock/Battle Master or Samurai Fighter works a lot better for this build
Warlock/Fighter or Monk/Sorcerer seem the best fights withing the basic lvl 20 cap for some kind of Dante character I'm just not sure what would be the best options if you were to use the "Beyond Epic" rule expansion for going over lvl 20 but leaving the final point still somewhat reasonable at lvl 40 for the campaign's hard cap.
With the Blade of Disaster combo wouldn't you have 4 spell slots available since Blade of Disaster takes your Mystic Arcanum to cast not a spell slot, so you could Eldritch Smite on all 4 attacks since Warlocks have 4 spell slots at 17th level
This is some wonderful stuff. Keep it up. I would like to see a build for Rurouni Kenshin. I feel like there is more than just a basic samuri or monk build to show the speed and weapons mastery he has. Not to mention his endurance and comeback skills.
Hello, dont we need to multiclass earlier to be able to wield a Greatsword as a Hexblade Warlock ? Or I'm missing something ? (I'm very new to the DnD Universe)
Hex Warrior says the following Whenever you finish a long rest, you may touch a weapon with which you are proficient, and that weapon does not have two hands. How are you using a great sword? Will the Pact Boon of the Pact of the Blade allow exchange?
Because it also automatically applies to anything regarding pact of the blade, which is separate from the concept of it applying to just a non two-handed weapon, so if you can summon a two-handed weapon that is also a pact of the blade it will apply to it
I rolled a nat 20 insight prediction of warlock but I was predicting either fiend with his dad being the patron or Celestial with their healing ability as a good allegory for his healing factor. and as a reference to the Ninja Theory origins
Since they were inspired by DmC anyway, I thought it’d be fitting to ask for the Black Silence from Library of Ruina? Seems like a cool character to try to make in D&D as a PC.
Now I kinda wanna see how you'd build Vergil. I've actually done it before with 3 levels in echo knight and 17 in bladesinger but I want to see what you would come up with.
For the battle-master dip. Tripping Attack, Pushing Attack, Goading Attack, Sweeping Attack. All of them are pretty in character for Dante. Goading Attack: Talking shit, as per usual. Sweeping Attack: A lot of his swings cleave through a lot of enemies. Tripping Attack: Knock someone on their ass for the combo, seems fitting. Pushing Attack: Just says 10 feet away. Shove someone 10 feet up and then jump up to combo them in the air. If that's not in character, nothing is.
At this point, simply for ultimate flavor, I would allow to change the form of your weapon as a bonus action (once you have it summoned). Because come on 🙂 With the way Eldritch Blast works mechanically, you can already say your weapon disintegrates for a moment and you're shooting pistols (Since you can use your weapons as spellcasting focus anyway) and then you change back to the melee weapon.
i dont really see the point on trying to rely on light or mage armor when a half plate will give us way better AC anywany. Stealth penalty doesnt sound like something Dante would care for and one can always just reflavor their half plate to look like a coat.
Partially works, no hexblade on BG3, but it improved Pact of the Blade to make up for it. The big issues are that the level cap is 12, and I'm not sure if they have eldritch smite. So those are the big things to worry about.

ummm...Dante doesn't use magic much outside of DT and zipping around. he's more a gunslinger/battle master type fighter/monk in my personal opinion. but then those DTs from the OG game do invoke quite a bit of magic, sooooo...guess this works.
Magic could also be used as a reasonable substitue for how Dante can still have his guns in a setting that otherwise bans them, as then you just have a "gun shaped" spell focus and replaced bullets with spells.
This isn't really the most optimal this build could be (medium armor could easily be reflavored) and paladins don't really need to be goody-two-shoes in 5e RAW, but it's not bad. There's probably some better build options as well for level spread, but I'd say it's a good start
I greatly appreciate that you try to make a functional character within the system that would be fun to play rather than just cherry-picking surface-level stuff like another character builder channel. Good stuff.
@@ydraid Should be a little different. Using Find Greater Steed to get a dire wolf require you to be a 13th level Paladin for the 4th level spell slot, so Conjure Fey (6th level Warlock spell) is probably the better option. Wouldn't get all of his abilities, to say nothing about him going hostile if you lose concentration, but what can you do? As a base mechanic I think it has more to deal with the consistency of a Warlock's Patron. That said a GM/DM can homebrew that feature where it makes sense for a Patron to have some kind of mount available for Warlocks of a certain value to them or allow an existing mount be brought into the contract for the Warlock to use.
