Me personally, I would've went with Fallen Aasimar instead of tiefling because the Necrotic Shroud ability is basically a free Spirit Shroud where damage is equal to your proficiency bonus. Though, making Vergil an Echo Knight to imitate his DMC5 Devil Trigger is a pretty cool idea and I never thought of that!

Bladesong is like starting a SSS combo and Bury the light starts playing with lyrics
I'd go DEX over STR while taking a rapier(mechanic wise) over a longsword for better AC and initiative.If I rolled high on stats possibly take the feats Piercer, Infernal Constitution, War Caster or Mobile.
Also Tough or Resilient CON if you forgo Fighter.
Literally playing this in a campaign right now, with Vergil as the inspiration. Seeing as I’m not a content creator, I’m glad to see someone spreading the news of this broken combo.
Also trying to convince my DM to let me craft/forge the Yamato.
Get the Book of Many Things and show him the Sword of the Planes, maybe?
@@ZpEB2741I managed to convince my DM to allow for the forging of a Yamato-like sword. I’ll have to share the stats another time, but it’s much better than a Sword of the Planes.
Personally I’d do this differently I would start with 6 levels of blade singer then dip three levels into echo knight followed by the rest into blade singer. I would also change it to start with 15 in dex, con, and int let’s be real he isn’t know for wisdom and wizard helps with that save. I’d also make sure to get thunder step for the added teleport.

Tenser's Transformation seems like a good spell on the surface, but you did leave out the largest drawback of using it... you can no longer cast spells while concentrating on it. Given that you are still predominately a wizard, spells are still your bread and butter. No Shield, no Booming Blade, no Steel Wind Strike, etc. While the package of perks is kind of nice, I feel like you can obtain a better suite by using other spells in combination like an upcasted Shadowblade or Spirit Shroud.
Nice build and spells. I also like some sorcerer or warlock multiclass for the Tasha's Otherworldly Guise spell for the Devil Trigger transformation. But as you mentioned, you buid was focused on the two Vergil splited characters into one single build

The hardest part about that is that they can be built based off how you build your own in game character. So it could be pretty much anything.

I'm planning on having him come out fairly soon, I was just waiting for a little bit more of the show to premiere so that way I had some more resources to use for the video but I will probably lean pretty heavily on the web series for background images. But I do have a plan for him already
Don't forget that you can replace one of those attacks with bladeward. So 2 attacks+Boming Blade while taking half damage.
Still, hoping one day he will do spawn
i like this build ... i would like to make it work but we are a low level group and i don't want to play something identical to vergil... i just want a fun build with SPEED and fun spectral blades and stuff
I don't know if its just me, but I hate when character builders try to include V in a Vergil build. I find it annoying from a mechanical and a roleplay aspect. I love the build and what people do with it, but trying to do two characters at the same time when they are very different. At that point, just make two different builds instead of trying to combine them.
I totally understand, I thought of it more as referencing bits of V but not fully building him, it would actually be kind of hard to build him entirely anyways since he only appears in one game so it can be a bit of a challenge. However I do have another build coming up that might fit pretty well with a straight up v build, but it still won't be a one-to-one character

DARK SLAYER: Fighter subclass
Unarmored Defense
When you wear no armor your AC becomes 10 + your DEX and Con Modifier
Swift Movement
You gain 10ft of extra movement when your not wearing armor
Dark Slayer Skill: Dark Pass Points
You have dark Pass points equal to your fighter level.
By paying the cost of one Dark Pass point you can do one of the following effects as a bonus action.
- you can teleport up to your movement speed. This can also be used as a reaction.
- you can make an extra Attack.
Dark Pass points can only be regained after a long rest
Dark slayer skill: Rune Work
You gain the ability to improve your bladed weapons' with runes that deal elemental damage.
To apply these runes you must succeed a slight of hand and an arcana check beating your rune check (8 + Dex + proficiency) you gain 1d6 elemental damage of your choice.
At higher levels you can choose to improve these runes.
At level 10 the damage dice becomes d8
At level 15 it becomes a d10
Dark Slayer skill: Spectral Blades
As action you pay 1 dark Pass point per spectral sword that you summon.
As a bonus action you may fire them at one opponent you see within 30ft of yourself but you must roll a ranged attack for each sword .
On hit each sword deals 2d8 radiant damage.
Dark Slayer Skill: Dark Reaction
When your targeted by a spell that makes you do a saving throw you gain advantage on the saving throw
Dark Slayer Skill: Devil Trigger
Using a bonus action you enter the devil trigger.
You can stay in the form for a set amount of rounds equal to your Con modifier. Staying in this form after the said rounds gains you one level of exhaustion per round you stay past your allocated turns
- Your movement is doubled.
- You may summon up to 10 spectral blades without paying any Dark Pass points
- You gain resistance to non Magical damage
- your weapon attacks deal an additional 2d8
- you regenerate hit points every turn equal to your CON modifier.
After you use this skill it can't be used for 24 hours.
I think I prefer Tasha's Otherworldly Guise, simply because Tenser's Transformation doesn't let you cast other spells.

I would use dex instead of strength, substituting the longsword for a rapier
Now, you get the same damage dice, can still use dueling, have better armor class, AND better initiative
Totally agree, if I was going to optimize it that would probably be the way I would go. I just try to stick true to character, and I felt like it was more of a strength-based weapon for the Yamato

imo, strength is more of dante's stat than Vergil's, since his moves with yamato are very precise, controlled and elegant, so I would flavor yamato as a rapier
But other than that, I think the build is perfect for vergil! Really fitting spells and everything. Great video!
