Hey! Guess what. You're Awesome and thanks for watching. I promise this is the best DND tutorial based on a 30 year old Jeff Foxworthy joke you'll ever see. Stick around for more and vote in the comments for which subclass you'd like to next.
Basically old arny if he somehow fused with merlin but was just as dumb? Is that a good comparison... I don't know these things are hard to fill. Barbarians cool. Big Sword Fun. I got monkey brain.

Big Bad: *exists*
20th level Echo Knight with a +3 flametongue greatsword: I am death; destroyer of worlds *proceeds to nova round twice*
I did a unarmed fighting style Echo Knight with Tavern Brawler & Grappling. I would wrestle the opponent to the ground, then the echo would curb stomp them into oblivion.
I call that build "The Shadow Boxer"
Nah that’s just a. Jojo stand
I actually made a build like that, warforged echo knight called Wallop, I hope to play them one day
That's crazy, you basically made a baki character with a stand
I was hoping to do this after the 2024 PHB. Was thinking of going Berserker after hitting level 12 for some extra damage and resistances since EK wants CON anyway. Think that would work?
Another cool thing about the Echo Knight is that the Manifest Echo feature can be flavored in many different ways. For example, the echo could just be your shadow or a ghost that has bonded to you, and these were the first two off the top of my head.
Take the Haunted background and really earn it!
Pick Kalashtar for your race, then Manifest Echo becomes basically an Oversoul from Shaman King!
id do a desert warrior and make it a sand clone
Had a weird one where basically my echo was an alternate reality version of myself. Anytime I'd do the teleport switch my consciousness switches with the new body which sometimes had something minor like new tattoos or something ridiculous like having both my legs blown off. This was a decision by the dm though. I just came up with the alternate reality part.
*Rips off helmet*
Persona!!!
Also, I love how many ways you can reflavor this subclass. Clones, drones, spirits, ghosts, any fluid “substance” (sand, blood, shadows, etc) and more.
In a group I'm in, our echo Knight's echo is a ghost from beyond the grave named Ghost Dad. He praises us when we defeat our enemies and gives very questionable fatherly advice
Like for example maybe you play a robot who calls in a cheap mass produced copy
Or even use echo knight as the better stand user
@@ArtiomSigmaBest boy
So much potential, its great. I love all the potentials so much I doub’t I’ll ever use the dunamancy thing.
One I came up with not long ago, a lizardfolk shaman-y flavoured fighter who sews his shed skins into echo-puppets he breathes a semblance of life into
"Do you have such a hard time making friends, that you learned how to literally _make_ friends?"
I thought this was about Echo Knight, not Necromancer.
"Why not both?"
this comment is to accurate
I really want to multiclass this with Gloom Stalker. So many attacks. All of the attacks.
Or pair it up with the Astral Self Monk for maximum ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORAs, or MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDAs, depending on your preference 😏
Or all, shadow clone jutsu!
My preference from the dnd core books is ancestral guardian barbarian level 3 dip. combining its features with the echo knight's ability to melee attack from range is just disgusting.
I want to run a campaign with classes as broken as possible. I don't care about limits, I want even homebrew classes to make the story as chaotic as possible. A Gloomstalker-Echo Knight sounds like a multiclass that could work here.
@@_nick.._.liachnis If that;s the goal I'd recommend bestiaries like Tome of Beasts or Creature Codex from Kobold Press to match, as their monsters are really bonkers and can be a huge challenge.
I once dealt 112 damage in one turn at level 6 with this subclass.
That made the GM put a 2nd hill giant on the table just because I obliterated that thing.
Level 15 right now after three years of mostly bi-weekly sessions. It gets way crazier at this level. With great weapon fighting/mastery, a thunder maul, and all the gear needed to attune the maul, I have reached 200 damage in one turn without even fully expending everything. It's a nasty class, but it's exactly what martial characters need.
Please, tell me obliterated second one too
"Wanna see me do it again"
Just started playing an echo knight this week. Multiclassed it with trickery domain cleric for even more copies running around the battlefield.
Lmao shadow clone jutsu go brrrrr
Wait... Doesn't Trickery domain also allow you to switch with your clones or does it only allow you to cast spells through them???
@@ChaosMind10531 you can cast spells through the illusion and if the illusion and you are within 5ft of the same creature you get advantage on attack rolls.
@@ChaosMind10531 just cast spells and a few other neat tricks. Can’t switch though IIRC
That doesn’t feel fair, I love it
Literally the only downside is if the individual player exercises over dependency on the Echo abilities and forgets they gotta be effective without it too
Do they tho?
@@theeye8276 juuuuust a little bit
It happened to me when I played as an echo knight I legit forgot I could just bully an archmage and almost died
My EK had his memory modified to be convinced that he promised to not use his echo during a couple sessions. Still kicked ass, but I sometimes wonder how that boss would have handled me if I wasn't just a blank fighter at that point.
One of the best Fighter in the game, followed by Rune Knight
Its such a engaging Subclass that is equally strong
I had a Echo Knight/warlock character idea where the patron is the dead brother of a set of twins. The other twin can manifest her brother cause of being an echo knight to help her fight.
That sounds cool as fuck. 😮
@@nephalos666 havent played it yet. Currently having a warlock/ranger swarmkeeper, where i flavor the swarm as my cursed sand patron in the form of a snake.
This video was perfectly timed I was actually about to build an echo knight fighter.
I recommend a three level dip as ancestral guardian too. The synergy of that feature with the echo is insane.
If you've been watching the OneDND stuff for Fighter you can kind of see what they are trying to do with Indomitable, currently in the playtest if you reroll the save you add your Fighter Level to the roll as well. Pretty insane imo and honestly makes the ability so much better across all levels of play.
I had an echo knight/ancestors barb build that was sooooo fun
What was your level progression for it? Was thinking of playing one, too
I freaking love this subclass because the versatility and role play potential like for example if your playing a space obessy style campaign you can reflavor the echo as solid hologram or a horror dark fantasy style you can reflavot it as a living shadow or ghost haunting you or a anime style campaign so basically you become a jojo character with 3 levels in this and the other 17 in another class to make whatever jojo you want
A fun combo for this subclass is the grappler feat. You just reenact your high school bullying experience while one of the echoes restrains the enemy and the others beat him up with 20 attacks at advantage at the highest levels. Pretty fun times for your DM!
Love this subclass so much. Gives the fighter so much flexibility and combat strength.
As I watched many Baldur Gate 3 vids, IF your echo is actually a clone of you, with everything intact, you can "throw shit at people" X 2. Or X 3 at endgame levels.
"Mocking Shout but it's actually Mocking Audience."
This is pretty cool I watched another video about the Echo Knight not to long ago, but I really enjoy the way you break down the classes so this was a treat.
The mechanics are great to re flavour if alternate time you doesn’t work. My newest one the echo is a blood elemental bound to my fighter by arcane experiment.
That'll sounds like a great idea for a Genasi Echo Knight.
@@aqilmuqashim439 mine is half orc. But yeah genasi could work; like a genie spirit bound to something native to its elemental plane.
My DM in a campaign made "me" the BBEG. The party was fighting a bunch of time travelers, and my character was an Echo Knight Fighter multiclassed into a homebrew dragon slayer class. Since echo Knight is just my character from a different timeline, the group of enemies we had been fighting were unmasked as different incarnations of my character. I dont know if I explained well, but it was really cool.
I have to say I love how you can make 6 attacks at level 5.
I can remember a few times our dm put a strong boss against our party (like a small dragon or something) and it fucking die in one turn because with great weapon fighting, great weapon master and great swort in your hands you can dish out around 100-140 damage in one turn if you get lucky
As someone who's played an echo knight, I can confirm that it is a blast. And there's a cheeky exploit that you can pull with it (if your DM allows it at least).
The basic idea is to take advantage of the fact that the echo is an exact copy of you (including your gear) and being able to summon an endless number of clones. Depending on how you rule it, that technically means you could effectively give yourself infinite ammunition for any ranged weapons you may be packing. Have fun with that.
Man, the Echo Knight has come to be my favourite subclass for the Fighter along with Rune Knight and Battlemaster. I was wondering if we could get a Rune Knight video as well. If thats possible.
Fun fact: if someone manages to give you haste, that’s technically another attack action, so you can attack 8 times by level five, or a total 12 times without feats at level 20
The bit about twitter being an exclusive section of the DND handbook 🤣 Been watching all of these vids and they're so good
I love your videos my dude. I'm a Bladesinger main, and your video caught my eye one day and I've been subbed and notified of each upload since. Your sense of humor is great, and your joke deliveries along with the visual ques are a great mix. Just all around fantastic work, keep it up!
WOOOO new vid! These are SO DAMN GOOD bro. I've never seen a new channel I want to see be successful more than this one. Cheers
Monk plus echo knight with unarmed fighting style for that ultimate anime teleport no jutsu boxing.
i once played a Echo Knight with the Sentinel feature. i was basically a One-Man-Frontline. Once the high AC of the Echo made an enemy waste 3 Multiattacks on a frigging shadow that can be replaced with a Bonus Action.
Imagine being a bug bear Echo knight with a Halberd, Sentinel, Pole arm master, and Tunnel fighter.
The opportunity attacks with Echos only work in 5 ft of them, but if your DM allows otherwise then you and your Echos can effectively lock down three 15 ft areas around yourselves.
With Pole arm master and Tunnel fighter, you effectively get 2 free opportunity attacks the moment they so much as step into your reach. And frankly, you only need one to land in order to stop their advance entirely. Just a complete full stop to an enemy's charge.
Sounds great for role-playing as different instances of the same person from different worlds.
None of us can speak, and I roleplay between them interchangeably as separate individuals. Not specifying unless they are unable to do damage.
I have a quarterly game in which play Several, a Tabaxi (Serval) Echo Knight with a two level Pact of the Chain Warlock dip. Such a fun character to play. Silent Image and Mirror Image give me even more multiplicity.
the amount of Matt cameos is sending me- help😂😂
I didn’t look too far into this subclass… I was sorely mistaken
Perfect!!! Playing an EK with dips in Peace Domain cleric and a 1 lvl dip in wizard to get shield and silvery barbs. He’s a “Bank” a buffing tank. So fun.
Made my Echo Knight have his echo be his dead twin brother, was awesome for my descent into avernus experience.
Yes!! You mentioned pairing this subclass with Bladesinger!
Coming from experience, its a *magnificent* combination. The combat and social capabilities of these two combined make for the most versatile gish Ive ever played.
This is like the coolest subclass ever; you pretty much just get to be Noob Saibot and that's just mean.
I still expect these longer vids to end in the 'seamless infinite loop' style he uses for the YT Shorts.
So damn cool!
My table uses the new rules for Dual Wielding, which means that instead of using your bonus action to make that attack, you now get it when you make the attack action. That means that the 10 attacks? That becomes 12. Which becomes 24. Who needs GWM when you and your two blenders just made the enemy into sashimi in the course of 12 seconds
This also means that you still have a bonus action, which means that if you didn't action surge yet, you can pop a Hunter's Mark or Hex from Fey Touched to make that basically a great sword in each hand. That's 24d6 plus your Damage Stat of your choice times 12. Really fun build.
Now I am patiently waiting every week for this
I'm really enjoying my Echo Knight. My character has a twin sister he lost at a very early age and my DM allowed me to flavor the echo to look like her versus it being a straight copy of him. She even has her own personality and he'll roleplay her reactions when my character screws up on something, like laughing at me or getting angry when I do something she wouldn't agree with.
A plasmoid Echo Fighter that just splits into a copy of himself.
You're welcome.
Nice one. Loved all the attacks!! Now let's do the dragon riding, fire breathers whose moving siege engine allows the delivery of high accuracy artillery at range... Drake Warden!!
Echo Knight Paladin... scary damage with all those divine smites xD
Yo these videos make me laughter the while time thru its like u have a direct line to my funny bone
The Fighter needs _more bonking...._
Parties *Bard:* I can help, this is a speciality of mine.
Sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the video
Welp if I play another campaign I know what I want to play next. Didn't even know this existed, so thank you now I have another idea for a character!
The echo knight could easily be roleplayed as 2 characters who have to take turns having a solid body. Body might even be a construct made to house whoever is physically in control!
One thing I learned that makes Echo Knight truly broken would be Magic items with a charge. I.E the Javalin of Lighting.
See, your Echo's get a copy of the weapon you use. That means they would also get the Javalin of Lighting and can therefore use its special attack.
Once they use it, they can't do it again. Unless you resummon them. With that in mind, you can effectively use each Echo as an INFINITE AMMOUNT OF AMMUNITION FOR THE JAVALIN OF LIGHTING, WITH THE ONLY COST BEING A BONUS ACTION.
Ive never actually played dnd but im very into it and have watched multiple campagins one of which had a echo knight and i just love the potential they have for a sick backstory
Like i said ive never played but ive had a idea for a character for a long time that i just refuse to let go of.
the character was a orphan and when they were old enough they joined a mercenary company with one of their close childhood friends who was basically their only family to them in search of riches so they could live a better life. after becoming somewhat renowned in the company they eventually learn that the leaders of said company are blessed by a extremely powerful and old silver dragon that acts as basically their patron of sorts. in one of their missions their childhood friend is mortally wounded after the characters mistake and turning to the dragon for help and with their friends permission they seal their soul inside of a magical sword that they used to wield.
This sword lets them summon them as a echo and is basically what makes them a echo knight with the extra added ability to be able to absorb other weapons of the same type to gain strength equal to it so that even when better weapons become available like a +1 longsword for instance it still stays relevant
Now they work to try and pay back the dragon for their help by spreading its name and dealing with its foes whilst upholding its values.
Its pretty similar to a hexblade or paladin in a way and could probably be played as such but i prefer echo knight as the idea that the echo is their childhood friend that they can continue to joke around and talk to even after their death seems so cool. imagine trying to explain that to the party
I guess I know what Otohan Thull was in Critical Role ❤
I have done the sentinel and polearm master with an echo knight. It is enjoyable but be sure to use a bugbear that has an extra 5ft reach with the ability to do an additional 2d6 damage on a surprised enemy. It makes them the perfect assassination echo knight. Also, the proficiency in sneaking does wonders too.
Wonder if the echo knight fighter's abilities would work with ranged stuffs like crossbows and bows. Could see those multi attacks from multiple angles and free teleports would really mess with things if you could manage to setup an ambush.
You cannot unleash incarnation from a distance. Has to be a melee attack.
@@whiteeye3453 - When you take the Attack action on your turn, any attack you make with that action can originate from your space or the echo's space. You make this choice for each attack. If you are attacking, you can attack from the echo's position, this counts for ranged weapons.
Level 3 Unleashed Incarnation - Whenever you take the Attack action, you can make one additional melee attack from the echo's position. If you use that feature then the extra attack from the Echo would be a melee attack specifically.
Echo Knight / Any Monk multiclass is just a Stand User and I'm here for it
My first fighter was and is an echo knight I'm currently playing for the last year or more and I love him a tabaxi raised by elistrae drow who became a knight and the queens protector in my dms world his time ability is a one of a kind so he was recruited after a grand tourney even after the fall of te kingdom he still protects the queen. its a fun character and yeah dex fighter 11 who will multiclass
This subclass works really well with Horizon Walker, both for flavor and mechanics. At level 14 you can get a Nova round of 11 attacks, all while invisible.
This was actully my first class/subclass its really fun
Paladin and Cleric are also potentially good multi-class options. A cleric would be able to heal, cure and buff the party with 3x the efficiency and a paladin would come with 3x the smiting power.
The way my mind works, this would rock as an unarmed style fighter/monk build, the 1-3 tiers of gameplay would make the dm want to sh@t themselves
Exactly what I'm running in a campaign I started yesterday. Should be insanely fun
The only problem is how bonus action heavy you are, monk wants to flurry of blows but fighter wants to use their echo
But will they want to use them at the same time? With a character this mechanic focused, just take a step back and stop trying to cram as much into every turn that you can. The more you chill the more practical it becomes.
Drakewarden Ranger + Echo Knight Fighter Multiclass = yeah, so we jumped him right
Roleplay it as a jojo stand
A friend of mine is a fan of Noob Saibot from Mortal Kombat when I told them about the Echo Fighter they were so happy.
Since u leash incarnation allows an extra attack through your echo I had a dm who allowed me to use both echoes at level 18 for unleash incarnation, making 12 attacks in the first round at level 20 (although using 4 entire unleash incarnation in that round)
I played another echo knight who was a tiefling/aasimar hybrid, the tieflings curse neutralized but not altogether obliterated by the aasimars holy blood. When he split rather than conjuring an echo, he simply split into a tiefling and an aasimar. Which was useful bc the tasimar hybrid was considered an abomination in that world
Best fighter subclass easy
Nah, best subclass is Battle Master
Best subclass is battle master but this one is the number two
Ah, man, I was hoping for ghostlance to be mentioned. Basically, it's an echo knight/warlock (undead, preferably) multiclass and it plays like it's own thing. I'd recommend you look it up.
This subclass is only the second best, but it's so dang cool.
Im so happy I read this comment! I just realized that Im about to unintentionally become a ghostlance and now have so many ideas for what I'll have my character do!
That's the form of dread subclass right? What kind of level split you looking at for this build?
@demonkingsparda Undead Warlock gets Form of Dread, but I believe the ability is also really similar to that of the Fallen Aasimar's ability of the same name. Im currently playing an F.A. Hexblade Warlock who's pretty close to getting his Fighter Subclass.
@@demonkingsparda I think it's also on tabletop builds but yeah
@@whiteeye9584 Not a feature
Another amazing video! Thank you 🙏🏾
Speaking of a buff for indomitable, My table ruled that Indomitable give Legendary Resistance. Its a bit strong but for a 9th level ability it doesn't feel broken.
Favorite subclass! Would love to watch a Gunslinger warrior video from you) You are the BEST!!
Tunnel fighter is beautiful with this.
The Echo is the Embodiment in Medieval times of “Jumping” people
Just remember that a high level Echo Knight bbeg never even needs to be seen by the party to attack them with two echos. It's such a cool general-style villain to throw at them
*Noob Saibot Wins*
*Flawless Victory*
*Fatality*
If you know, you know
I always thought that summoning 2 echos at once would allow for unleash incarnation to be used simultaneously from both of them.
So 4 attacks 8 with action surge, and then another 4 from unleash incarnation hitting with both echos at once.
I dont know exactly how Wizards of the Coast plan for us to interpret it, unless its specifically stated somewhere else.
And now I’ll be a playing reborn echo night fighter jasper lmfao
Sound op as hell
0:37 just completed watching the mighty nien a few days ago and now seeing this picutre makes me happy AND sad...
With me I have indomitable allow the reroll to add half your fighter level(rounded down)
Imagine an entire elite order of Echo Knights as a lore faction, albeit a small one.
My man put a ghostmane video in here heck yeah
Echo Knight + Path of the Spirit Guardian barbarian is sooo much fun (and flavorful)!
Echo Knight/Hexblade with thrusting blade double your attacks in a round
Thirsting blade the damn autocorrect
Thrusting blade sounds like something a Bard would get.
As my second ever dnd game I played echo knight. Fun times that was for the DM
Did no one mention Monk, using a Bugbear Astral Self multiclass you can walk into a bar and smack half the room from the other side without moving, or Drunken Monk Tabix for a speedster slow mo scene amazing crowd control
When you wanted to stand but didn’t want to go to the astral self monk this is for you
Definitely my next build
Hot take: The echo knight fighter is more of a stand user than the astral self monk
Between this and Chronomancy wizard Matt Mercer is the worst thing to happen DMs 😂
My favorite subclass in dnd
My pact of blade warlock needs this...
This with Dhampir gets the best movement variety for martials.
1:59 An artificer flavoured bard subclass with added stealth? I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it!
with echo knight at level 3 and astral self monk at 17 you get a possible very lore accurate D4C stand with 10 (11 if possible) attacks in one turn.
So that would be Fighter 3/Monk 17? I wanna be able Multiclass Echo with Monk but haven’t figured out the kinks. Any tips?
@@joseda3rd354 echo knight is a subclass of fighter class the mulitclass is with the monk snice monk is not fighter but also snice am still figure how to fully use the potential ill said figure it out on how to stack attacks in one turn
What about the whole martial arts/AC bit. Do I attack using strength or dex
Dragonborn Echo Knight Fighter. 15' cone becomes a 3x3 square when aimed down.
Also adds another not-meat shield to the field, taking attacks away from party.
So my second dnd character was a Echo knight blood hunter barbarian.
Nova round is 2d6 + strength + rage + 10 (gwp) + 2d6 radiant from crimson rite + 2d6 fire from flame tongue sword with rolled with -5 + adv with 6 attacks
9:03 wait but that flurry *was* me letting them have it
I saw this official tweet that stated the Echo was an object not a creature so you couldn't get flanking bonus or Sneak Attack with it, not sure how other DMs would rule it. Unleash Incarnation is whenever you take the Attack action not when you make attacks so at level 5 you can't Unleash Incarnation 4 times but only twice, which is good so it lasts a little bit longer. Not sure how it interacts with Bonus Action attacks but don't think it would because most Bonus Action attacks have its own limitation. Rules as Written the echo can move in any direction including up. Most of the other instances of movement clearly state horizontally. I've had mixed rulings.
Honestly I love the Echo Knight. I have this idea of a Kenku Echo Knight-Fighter/Phantom-Rogue that was going to use a heavy crossbow as his main weapon. It started out as a meme but it turned into something I really like. It fits really good as well. I flavored the Phantoms that visit as alternative versions of himself that learned different skills and share it with him. If I could move the echo up in to the air I could snipe people but just hiding behind Full Cover while still taking attacks works just as well. A very fun class I hope to play.
Echo knight artificer for that sweet magical item bonuses
