Now there's a thought for a homebrew rule: boosting breath weapon damage & similar attacks with your size. No doubt someone has used this to pull a "best part of Godzilla 2014."
I’ve actually been playing that duo, I’m gonna play a dwarf rune knight and my girlfriend was gonna play as a halfling Giant Barbarian. Peak big boi combo
Throw enlarge spell on top of the level 14 rage, and now you are gargantuan. Since the spell stats the creature goes up one size up . Or something along those lines.
The best thing about this subclass, mechanically is that it finally gave us a good option to play a somewhat ranged Barbarian, without it being completely out of place
First the best species for this class is a Fairy. 🧚 I know it cool to just have Tinkerbell FLY over when they see the bad guy crushes a flower and mad Tinkerbell gets big and pounds them into dirt. The fun part to me is people missing the fact that as you get larger you ability to grapple smaller creatures grows! So you have your Trikreen go over there with two arms to grab two fools and pounds(or stabs) them both into submission with the other two arms! I don’t have the book, don’t like giants and I thought about this in seconds - imagine the fun at the table with this class!
I have an idea: We have all heard about a Goliath grabbing a goblin and using it as an improvised weapon. The tavern brawler gives you proficiency in improvised weapons. If you grapple a medium sized creature and embiggen yourself, you could treat them like a greatclub. Now, in your embiggened state, you infuse your ‘weapon’ with elemental damage and fling it at another enemy. After you either hit the other enemy or the wall, your ‘weapon’ returns to your hand.
With drakkenheim and grim hollow being sponsored by dndbeyond would you ever cover the subclasses from those books? Im a big fan of grim hollow and i think you'd like bard college of adventurer's.
It isn’t just an increase to range of 5ft, but you also take up 4 times as many squares so your reach is also increased because 10-20ft away from you is further away because you became bigger.
i need to see a dnd campaign of just gnomes, goblins, kobolds, dwarfs, and really any shortstack races out there all playing giant barbarian...............
Since the rage doesn't increase you by one size, it simply increases you to large, I love the idea of a fairy taking this subclass. Fly around with the wizard on your shoulders while throwing your weapon at the enemies.
Though it's not an official Class for DnD, the Dancer Class is another one of those that is capable of breaking the caping point for stats. Allowing you Dex and Rizz to be maxed up to 24, making it practically impossible to fail any checks involving those two. And as the Dancer Class is Charisma based, that makes them soooooo dangerous outside of combat. Think of the Dancer as a mix between a Bard, a Rogue, and a Monk, but way way more fun.
3:40 Barbarians are glass cannons, albeit single target ones. Giant barb is amazing, do not stand in melee with it. Glaive go brrr. 4:38 I cannot emphasize this enough, a barbarian is not trying to take hits. It is trying to prevent the hits from ever coming. Melee attacks from monsters usually do more damage, and a large number of monsters are primarily melee. The barb’s job is single target dpr. Regardless of rage, it’s not taking less damage than the Wizard or cleric, who just wear half plate, use a shield, and cast shield. 5:36 this is what we’re here for, GWM/PAMing people from far outside their range. And also the thrown weapons thing. That’s important later. 6:21 YEAAAH BAYBEE THAT’S WHAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR, THAT’S WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT WOOOOOOO 7:28 this feature is absolutely worthless 8:00 Yeet. Enough said. 8:25 short answer is no but yeet into the air and do your attacks. Maybe flavor it like Malenia’s grab or something (falling is instant but it doesn’t really matter for flavoring purposes). 8:40 I can’t tell if this bit is talking about how few rages barbarian actually gets or just not talking about subclass features 9:20 _Dragon Ball screaming_ Something something perfect barbarian. I love this subclass.
I just love how you mention shoe size 45 as something enormous.. in the netherlands, that's big for women, but pretty refular for men. I myself wear size 48-49, and while most footwear stores only have up to 47 in their physical shops, i know of a couple of guys over 2m long who wear size 52. Now THOSE are giants!
The ability to grow as far as I’m aware specifies anything you are wearing grows with you, simply have your weapon stowed so you are wearing it when you grow and yes it will grow with you.
I love this subclass, I'm currently playing a Goblin Giant Barbarian that was adopted by Stone Giants. The comedy of a small Goblin suddenly swatting Pteryons out of the sky is hilarious!
11:02 this isn’t mentioned in the ability because oversized weapons are a optional rule, if you add it to a feature it is no longer optional but mandatory.
You want to know the saddest thing? You can be larger at level 3 by being a rune knight duergar. WHY DOESNT GIANT BARB JUST INCREASE SIZE BY 1? Like yeah it helps small races but when I can be a HUGE fairy at level 5 why would I want to be only a large one from level 3 on?
For the big weapons i would rule it can use its own, since you are wearing your clothes ant stuff and that get big too since you are getting big BY MAGIC MEANS, not like normal giants who re like that always. The reason the ability didnt mention it is because if it does say something like "you deal extra X damage with your weapon attacks" people would understand that is an extra on top of the enlarged weapon, just like with the Enlarge spell, which, btw, that 1d4 is an EXTRA on top of the enlarged weapon rule You get bigger with everything you are wearing, that include weapons, and you can csemi confirm that by looking at the book illustrations, the same ones you showed up in the video: tje hiant lady has a giant shield... and clothes... if wearing items and equipment didnt grow with you, you would have to go naked before enlarging or everytime you would lose all clothing and equipment, hulk-style, but thos giant isnt exactly hulk, is more like antman, enlarging the 8axis truck to throw at your enemies The ruling of enlarged weapons it is considered to be used on players too, thats why mention monsters, and any creature with hp is a monster in dnd, player's characters included Now imagine having to use a Large sword while on medium size... wait, if you choose to be a goliath, you count as large for carrying weapons and items, so if you get huge and then somebody cast the Enlarge spell on you, you could grapple the sh1t out of Tarrasque wwe-style
It always baffles me that barbarians don't use str for unarmored defense and your depiction of flexing muscles protecting the squishy wizard is the perfect example. I don't picture a barbarian dodging or defecting an attack to survive- that's what the dodge action and a shield is for- I picture a barbarian forcing the weapon to bounce off- or straight up break on- their chiseled muscles just my flexing Anyways great video as always keep up the great work!
just started playing one of these and for an extra bit of fun my DM lets me use reckless attacks on thrown weapons if i'm raging. since im using a halberd i already have ridiculous reach while raging so using ranged weapons is rarely necessary but being able to use reckless attack makes it a bit more viable.
Bro, imagine a goliath multiclass giant barbarian and glory paladin. With the peerless athlete and being a large goliath which counts as huge but can carry lift push and throw as much as a gargantuan creature
Don't even need the multi class just have a friend learn enlarge/reduce and be gargantuan. Even better hire a guy whose whole job is to follow you around and cast enlarge on you whenever he sees you grow. Lol imagine yeeting a terrask 30ft plus your hight into the air and knocking it prone😂.
I think I might have to take the Sharpshooter feat to get the most out of the thrown weapon bonuses. But this is definitely one of my new favorite subclasses, despite not having hit lvl3 with my Goliath Barbarian yet. But the flavor and concept itself is enough that I absolutely adore it
Hey DND guy, I think a video on the rogue's Thief subclass could be awesome! They are similar to battlemasters in the essence that they get a lot of options in combat like a caster would but while being fully physical with fast hands. There there are also some more overlooked features like Use Magic Device that let them cast any spell scroll from any level! It has to be one of my favorite subclasses in the game and Id love to see more people give it a chance

If you use hand crossbows as thrown weapons and get sharpshooter, crossbow expert, ranged fighting style, and thrown weapon fighting style. You can make three attacks at a plus 10 to hit dealing 3d6+23 damage at 20th level for a dpr of 69 nice.
This very much feels like old school barb who gained a size when enraged, just cranked to 11.... i remember it was something like you would reach the very minimal height and mass to reach the next size, like a human barb could only be Large at max
Huh wasn’t really interested in getting the Giant book but this actually sounds really cool and not like crazy powerful. Might do that bugbear thing at some point with a polearm master (no sentinel unless stats allow) just to have an attack for what ever thinks that they are fine moving in that 20ft radius
A giant barbarian at lv 14 is huge. If someone casts enlarge on them they become gargantuan. Put 6 levels into druid and you can have any CR 2 kaiju you can imagine
I rewrote my Bill the Butcher character to be a Goliath. I liked the Bullseye fighter homebrew subclass but I think making him a Giant Barbarian has better ✨f l a v o r✨
One homebrew rule I like for barbarians is to let them use their constitution for armor calculations instead of dexterity. This lets barbarians dump dexterity if they want making them less mad.
I planned an encounter and managed to fudge numbers by accident making the encounter hard. The giant Barb used the hard mf to kill another mf and then slowly beat him to death.

Lizardfolk Giant Barbarian. Be an actual Kaiju.

@@TheIdealofGreed It's already weak enough, so it better get a boost. Say, a full fledged adult dragon's breath weapon at that scale.

My new favorite barb subclass! My next character will be a halfling with anger management issues and a Napoleon complex
Napoleon isnt short tho, infact dude was RIDICILOUSLY tall
It was a Propaganda
@RenoKyrie wasn't it that he was 'tall' for the age he was part of but tiny in modern times or somethin like that?
The answer is that he was perfectly average for the time and although it was propaganda that he was short, he wasn't super tall either.
I can just imagine. You rage, turn large and attack with your tiny short sword.
Throw enlarge spell on top of the level 14 rage, and now you are gargantuan. Since the spell stats the creature goes up one size up . Or something along those lines.
And be a goliath so you count as a size bigger, you can grapple tarrasque with advantage
@@FarothFuin for the purposes of carrying lifting or dragging. There is many races with that ability, goliath is just the stereotypical choice.
My wizard does that to our barbarian all the time. It's a awesome combo!
Even funnier if you play a small with racial spell enlarge/reduce. Hahaha
The huge advantage Giant Barbarians have over natural giants is that they can still _use regular toilet facilities_ when in town and not raging.
Until they get mad that the toilet is clogged again
Or until they feel the wrath of ye olde Taco Bell.
The best thing about this subclass, mechanically is that it finally gave us a good option to play a somewhat ranged Barbarian, without it being completely out of place
It's absolutely jacked with darts and Sharpshooter. I'm playing a 5 Rogue / 10 Giant barbarian and the damage output has been absolutely absurd.

Fun fact: enlarge/reduce requires concentration, which breaks when you begin to rage.
