I actually had a couple of players who individually decided to play a wild magic barbarian and sorcerer respectively they also both decided to play half-elves with a sea elf bloodline so when they popped up at the table they were a little surprised by that. It also turned out that the sorcerer came from a family with a rich and powerful bloodline who basically only cared about magical supremacy as it were. The Barbarian on the other hand was abandoned by his parents and left on the doorstep of an orphanage. So I ended up deciding as the DM that the two were actually brother and sister. It was a huge epic twist that I will forever remember.
I love that as a DM, you can take inconsistencies in narrative and turn them into logical paths, take similarities and turn them into story opportunities, and so on.

@@casbot71 aside from some very early flirting not so much. The Barbarian actually ended up in a relationship with the with the party's Bard who was a cute little halfling and the sorcerer actually ended up falling for the headmaster at the magic college because "she wanted to be teacher's pet" XD

Correct me if I'm wrong but Rage is a 1 minute ability. Normally it ends early if you don't attack or aren't attacked. Persistent Rage only means it lasts the full minute no matter what, with the exception of falling unconscious. It's not an, "I get to be super angry all day" unlock. At most it's 5-6 minutes of being extremely angry until level 20 and you can theoretically rage 1,440 times for an extremely angry, albeit exhausting, day.

Is it attack / be attacked or hit / be hit?
@@soldierx345 in the 5E handbook, it's described as the Barb having to make an attack or take damage to keep rage up. Specifically reads as follows:
"lt ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven't attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then."

I've played a Wild Magic Barbarian in a one-shot and honestly it was so much fun. 12/10 would scream into the weave again.
I like the imagine each of the effects of the Wild Surge is you being a Midgardian tapping into the energies of the Norse Nine Realms. Like the weapon throw being from Svartalfheim, the pixie and flumph are summoned from Alfheim, the vines at your feet come from Vanaheim, the reactive damage is from Muspelheim(?), the dark blast comes from Helheim, the bamf is from Niflheim, the extra armor is perhaps Jotunheim, and the beam of light comes from Asgard.
I was indecisive about whether to go with Wild magic or Ancestral Guardians and this comment made me settle for Wild

I am currently playing a Warforged Wild Magic Barb. His Rages are a preprogrammed "Combat Mode" that his creators used to augment his abilities, but since he's been freed he can't control the exact effects he gets, so it leads to comedy gold. Wild Magic barbs are FUN, and I highly suggest someone looking for fun try out Wild Magic barb

I like to give all my Flumphs Jamaican accents in my games. For some reason it just makes the exploding ones so much funnier to me as they always sound so happy and just fucking explode in a shower of magic sparkles.
Wild Magic Barbarian is easily the barbarian subclass I've been most interested in trying out! Loved the video as I do all YMBA stuff. Hoping to see Spirits Bard in this round as it's one I'll be playing in an upcoming campaign!! Big slay on the vid YMBA
So, I've been playing BG3 since Early Access, and I only just learned last night that you can pick up enemies and use them as improvised and thrown weapons. And the Berserker Barbarian gets a buff to this ability. It's been hilarious, and my pockets are stuffed with four each Imps and Intellect Devourers for when I don't have any enemies close enough.
Tavern Brawler Feat is also a must for Yeeter Berserker
Because it doubles your Strength Modifier on Damage Roll and Attack Roll with improvised, thrown, and unarmed attacks
Have a caster use Enlarge on the Berserker and now you can even yeet Large sized enemies
@@RenoKyrie I also bought a magic ring from the Halfling merchant in the grove that adds 1d4 to thrown weapon damage. My Barbarian looks like a wrestler running around in nothing but boots, gloves, his underwear, and a cape.

The Cleric with Bless also supporting the Barbarian landing hits alongside the Divination Wizard
While the Ranger and Druid ruins the enemy movement with Spike Growth and Plant Growth(Also Web if you pick Wolf Spider as Beastmaster)
I've adopted pointy hats wild magic barbarian Backstory for mine it works so good love my magical rage mage
If you're interested in playing Wild Magic Barb, I'd suggest looking online into some homebrew that modifies the wild magic table and some path features. In particular something that makes the wild magic damage scale as you level up (unlike the base wild magic table which i believe is constant). I've seen one that modifies the basic table and I've seen some that makes the wild magic a d20 roll with instant and/or persistent encounter-long effects. Find what looks good for you and have fun!
I wanted to make a barbarian mage in bg3 but no spells work while raging...except way of the four elements monks spells!

I’m here to see champion or samurai just to see the jokes about basic but being OP
Champion has by far got to be one of the most boring fighter subclasses I’ve ever seen. Strong or not, everything flavor wise about them is purely mechanical, lacking any defining characteristics outside of things that could just be the flair of another fighter subclass, which gives it a lack of pazaaz.
@@dharmeshmistry342 yeah, but you can have some real fun with it if you wanna build around it but have a solid useful base. I once played a Locatha who insisted on using a folding chair as his preferred weapon. No tavern brawler, so I was doing like 10 damage without crit tops bc the dm ruled chair does 1d6 damage. Still so much fun to be able to play dumb and be able to make it work
Well, champion is as far from OP as you can possibly be. It is, without any exaggeration, less than +1 average damage to an attack with greatsword (as big of a weapon you can get). Samurai is better, but still quite bad.
@@notsochosenone5669Then you ain't playing a samurai well. Gotta pair it with Great weapon master or sharpshooter. The adv. Offsets the -5 for a +10 dmg.
@@laughingjack85 3 turns per day (not even a short rest). Also you need to use a bonus action (so, no PAM or CBE for you).
The only thing I could think that’d be nice is add some scaling effects on the WMS table so that it doesn’t feel like a wet noddle at higher levels.
I do enjoy this subclass (playing a L11 WM barb in a Planescape campaign), but one element that’s disappointing is that the wild magic effects don’t scale by tier.

I’m building a Harengon Wild Magic Barbarian with anxiety. If he panics, he rages, triggering his wild magic. I’ve already tested him out in a two shot and the group loved him, so I can’t wait to play him again.

I'm gonna be a barbarian in my brothers campaign when he eventually gets it going. I might make him a wild magic barbarian now. This seems like it has a lot of potential for fun moments.
There's even a homebrew table with 100 effects for the barb. Really chaotic, as it should be.
Wild magic barbarian/sun soul monk w/ several intelligence& magic increasing items to help me w/ magic turned me into a d&d super saiyan/wizard. I used spells to help emulate other saiyan abilites& turned the puny sun soul qi beams& energy balls into saiyan-worthy skills w/ enlargment spells

Battle rager is more powerful than people give it credit for, if arguably a little bland in flavor but that's extremely subjective
I too am a fan of Miyazaki's works. People say that Sekiro might be his greatest work to date but I'm more of an Elden Ring guy myself

I always wanted to be a barbarian spellcaster in dnd but that always sounded like a too wild idea, but with Wild Magic Barbarian, it just might be possible

The saves associated with your magic use your con mod, so if you like having strong magic buff constitution. Otherwise just go strength like a normal build.

Sorcerer is such a cool class because it’s allows for a total gigachad that just happened to also be born better than you or a total menace to society that also happens to be correct when he mentions that he’s just better.

I once maid a multi class wild magic barbarian/wild magic sorcerer for a high level one -shot my group played. Came up with a system with my DM that he had a chance of any spell failing depending on several factors on top of wild magic surge issues, and a “failed” spell would send him into a rage. Wasn’t as chaotic as I hoped it would be, there were surprisingly few opportunities for spell casting until the final boss fight so nothing triggered, but I did accidentally turn one of my party members into a sheep after the battle was over and I had a wild magic surge happen on a sending or message spell as we were wrapping up. lol. I still think the character could be a lot of fun in a more long-term setting, but haven’t had the opportunity to break it out yet.

In a certain way, this is my favorite Barbarian, doesn't scale for crap, but i still love it.
My only Character with this subclass was a Rune Knight / Wild Magic Barbarian.
Gotta say PRETTY STRONG. Rune Knight was good at balancing the Wild surges and i loved having to improvise and adapt.
My character was like a Magical Battery that was used as an experiment for an Interdimensional Being (long story), he had so much magic funneled through his soul that got infused with magic and could "store" it. Narratively it made sense, he controlled the remnants of his power through Runes (Rune Knight), while the explosive power of Rage served as release.
Can you rage along side giants might I’ve been trying to find information on it for awhile because I love the idea of being a hulk type
@@motornoise5830 I mean RAW, it is not a Spell or Spell Effect. Those are the only things that are prevented in the interaction.
Giant's Might is never stated as something you would have to concentrate either, so it wouldn't make sense that you couldn't do it at the same time.
I see it just like Wild Shape. You CAN Wild Shape and Rage, a special effect that does not work like a spell but does use Magic, per se.
So yeah, on my table you could, and there's nothing in the rules that says you can't. But as always, the legally required: "Ask your DM if it's possible".
I have a player in my campaign playing a wild magic barbarian, and it absolutely rekts everything I throw at them, so it makes for a difficult opponent in combat which I love, but it also has no backstory so it makes for a perfect opportunity for story development and role-playing, it make me want to play a wild magic character just to mess with my next GM😂😂
Kind of tired of how the sorcerer has been casted as someone who it's their magic power from inheritance when only one subclass really does that.
Im not shure if any sorcerer subclass other than draconic bloodline gains their magic from genes but i know for shure that that's not the case for wildmagic and not always the case for draconic either.
