This is a great video! Loved it...and loved the painting as well! Great job! I have been doing paint-by-number since the late 1950's. FYI...for 1st timers... The kits are pretty much the same but these days they are digitally printed from pictures rather than created by hand so that's why today's paint-by-numbers have way more tiny little areas to paint. For anyone who is new to this anyone can do it but it takes time, tiny brushes and a magnifying glass to get you through it! I found magnifying clip-ons (like sunglasses clip-ons) at Hobby Lobby for $10 but used a 40% off coupon to get them cheaper. I wear regular glasses so they clip right on to see the tiny numbers. As a long time artist I love the way using their different colors bring out texture, depth and highlights/shadows in these crazy paintings. I use a piece of foam board cut down and large binder clips to hold my canvas onto the foam board, place it on my easel, attach a clip-on reading light and I'm set to go. The foam board, binder clips and clip-on reading light I got at the Dollar Store for...yep $1 each. I get all my paint-by-number kits from AliExpress. Many of the sellers offer free shipping and the cost for most (without frames) are from $4.80 - $7+ depending on what kit you choose! Some offer frames for an extra $10. Of course they are being shipped from China so it can take from 15 - 45 days depending on the dealer but for the price I usually order 2-4 at a time. Once I get 1 done I then order again so that when the next order arrives I am ready for them! Tip: Don't add water to the little paints, it makes the paint way to thin and therefore lets the numbers show through. These paintings are supposed to have a thick oil based paint look even though they are acrylic paints so don't thin the paints. That is why it is easier to paint large areas first (like the sky, etc.) then work your way down to the tiny parts. It's ok to be a bit sloppy as far as I'm concerned after all, it's a painting and no one will know if you paint over a spot, reshape a spot or get out of the lines. I do it all the time (I'm in my late 60's). If you don't tell anyone you messed up know one will know! No one stands 1 foot away from a painting anyway, and from across the room these paintings are stunning! If someone wants one of your paintings do as I do...buy them a kit to do for themselves!
Nicely done. Just got my first paint by number for adults today but instructions are not in English. Mine has a castle too so I will start with the sky and work down like you. Thanks for posting:)
@@matthewparker2874 Wow! Really Matthew? Excuse me for using the wrong word! Who cares? Maybe focus on the positive things because I was actually complimenting the video. And I will still call mine a castle. Peace:)
I didn’t even notice that. Till you pointed it Out cause I was so intrigued by her beautiful gift. Moral of the story. People only want to see evil and fault and not the good in people. And in doing so think they stood out. But I can understand. Everyone wants to be heard and seen.
Hey whiteasian this is a great video and an amazing painting! I was wondering if could use the video as an instructional or example video for on my webpage?
+Bill Wilson Make sure your paintbrush is clean and dry before painting and if that doesn't work I would go to a local craft store and find more dense/thicker paints to use that are similar in color.
Bill Wilson..I am having the same problems..I have only done 1 picture..by Reeves..It was fairly difficult to cover the numbers..But with new one I bought..by Royal and Langnickel..It's even more difficult to cover up..It was also suggested I whitewash the picture first to fade the numbers..failing that i'm researching to try and get a top quality brand..Wish me luck..
+lisa partridge Visualize the painting in your head of how you want each item and part to look in color, maybe even make a list of all the numbers and write down your desired colors next to them as a guide. No matter what it will end up looking great!
Well thank you your right and I will always keep this is n mind funny every time I paint I never get to keep my paintings because everyone wants the painting and I use painting a therapy funny watching people trying to see the numbers cause they don believe me when I tell them and them tell them even drawing a stick person looks like crap shocks me and people who see my painting when all finished
Ne ho iniziato uno ma non mi soddisfa come sta uscendo troppo distacco tra i colori e alcuni più difficili da stendere soprattutto i colori più scuri e anche alcuni colori sbagliati segnati in legenda
I have a Dimension painting of some parrots. The yellow is so thin that the numbers can be seen through the paint. I have painted over the same spot 4 times and the numbers are still very clear, so much so, that I can still read the number. Is there some trick to this that I'm not aware of? Because of this, I don't think I'll ever buy another "Paint by Number".
+phizog1956 I would purchase more dense, thicker paints at a local craft store that are similar in color, make sure you don't buy watercolor paints for this project. Also, the paintbrush you use should always be clean and dry before painting your paint by the number.
Is this on canvas? Because I ordered one and did realize it was canvas until I got it and kind of intimidated me because I'm used to painting on the boarded paint by numbers.
Thank you so much for the cool video. Other links on here didn't work but got 2 from diyartwork.com/ working on one right now will maybe try to do a video like you. Thought it would have been lesser quality for the price but its pretty good. Will update you on how it goes. Thanks again.

Anyone else slightly bothered by the fact that she started in the sky but only did 3/4's of it for a lonnnng time?
haha true
It’s because if she painted the rest it would cover up some of the numbers for other stops rewatch the video and see
No haha I’ve done one of these and so got so bored of painting the same colors over and over again so I would do sections instead
it's very pretty I am working on one my self and it does not come close to yours (P.S I'm a girl)
Nice! I just got mine from paintby123.com and can't wait for it to come in!
