- Yes, you should get the Litter Robot 4. It's one of the best purchases we've made, and it's a huge improvement. If you're watching this video, you've probably done a ton of research already.
For context, we own a total of 4 litter robots, and the next version is by far the best one yet.

Thanks! Both the robots do the same thing-they scoop the poop for you. However, if you have the money, the litter robot 4 has some better features. The bin is larger, it’s much quieter, and the app tells you how much litter is left. For me, I think those features are worth it, and I would recommend the newer one. If you don’t have a robot today, either of them will be a game changer!
Can you post the sound from the 4 like you did the 3 please
Still love my litter robot 3. I never use those clips I buy an oversized kitty little bag and just wrap the opening around the edges of the bin… works like a charm. I hear you on the noise… it’s obvious when it’s working, but it’s not that obnoxious.
Yah, the litter robot 3 is still solid. if yours still works fine, there's no need to upgrade. however, the litter robot 4 has many new features that makes it feel like they've made improvements to the features that are most used.
Thanks for the review! I've had a cat genie for years but it's noisy and 3 out of 5 of my cats won't use it. Is there anything the litter robot 4 does worse than the previous model?
i think the litter robot 4 is better in every way. maybe the only thing is the price--i think that would probably be the only counter argument to upgrading. but, i think the new design is improved, easier to maintain, and provides more features all around.

Would you say there's any difference on the cats kicking/trailing litter out of the box? I have the litter robot 3 and would upgrade to the 4 if this was improved lol.
Great question. The amount of litter that gets kicked out is about the same. I haven't done a scientific test one this, but this is purely from just vacuuming around the robots. if you haven't done this already, you can use special mats that trap a good portion of liter that gets kicked out. it's not 100% proof, but i've found they help alot.
Wise choice!.....very unhappy with the 4 compared to the 3. Urine smell and leakage has been a huge problem.
If the power goes out, is there a backup battery?
no, there is no backup battery. if the power goes out, the litter robot 3 and 4 will shut down immediately. you could potentially hook it up to an external backup battery though. that's not a bad idea.
How much bigger is the waste bin? I currently have a 3 but it keeps getting an error and I constantly have to adjust the drawer or turn it off and on...even if the bin is empty!

Thanks for the quick overview. I've got a version 3 w/o the wifi app and love it. Have you ever tried disabling the wifi on the Version 4? I've got little interest in using the app and have recently been trying to cut down on EMF inside my house so I disabled wifi and went back to cat 5 for my computers. I wish they'd do a version 4 w/o the wifi but I'm thinking of adding one soon just for the larger catch bin on the bottom, the design looks so much better to the 3 which yes... the tabs are sometimes annoying.
hey, i believe the litter robot 3 and 4 can operate without wifi. however, i think you need to have them connected to wifi to set them up initially. i haven't searched for any non-wifi litter robots... but it seems that there probably are going to be some options out there.

Dang the inside of your LR is so dusty, I would recommend extending the wait time to 15 min max so the dirts wouldn't stick to the interior as much and wipe the interior down with wet wipes every 2 or 3 weeks. Cats love and appreciates if their litter boxes to be clean.
Yah. I’m going to take it out for a deep clean when it warms up. It’s hella dirty right now.
@@jeffwongdesign I only deep clean with water every 6 months but clean the interior with wet wipes every 3 weeks, it is suffice this way and keeps it clean.

Do you have problems with the 3 stopping and starting or stalling all together?
Sometimes the litter robot 3 can have trouble starting. I typically turn it off and turn it back on. If that doesn’t work, I’ll clean the sensor (located at the top entrance of the robot).
We had one robot that failed to cycle at one point and we had to return it. Fortunately, it was still under warranty, and they sent an entirely new robot to us.

Can you choose the litter brand you use ?
Yes, as long as it’s a clumping litter (the kind made of clay). It won’t really work for non clumping litter (like sawdust pellets).
We use a litter brand from Costco. They’re actually having a sale next week.
1 minute+ of filler and then no sound comparison for the Litter Robot 4. Jesus lol
Good feedback. I’m new youtube creator-if you check back in, I can create a video that compares the sound of the 3 vs 4, with no filler. (The filler portion is just me having fun with making videos… but I understand that youtube is about getting to the point quickly. 👍)

Do I need the odor filter?
I would get a separate filter. I created another video that shows two different types you can use, with links on Amazon. You don’t “need” them, but I think it certainly helps on days where the litter robot smells ripe.
