I've lost a wheel twice (different wheels) and then the servo died...and now the last time i took it out the spur gear AND the center drive shaft got trashed and i wasn't even bashing it that hard...😒 how can BOTH the center shaft AND the spur gear get eaten on one go?! it should be one or the other right?
@@TechWizMaster Replace center shaft with Aluminum replacement, rocks get lodged between it and the motor heatsink.(design flaw) The wheels coming off is a common problem in some models that didn’t get enough threadlock from factory. There’s videos on the screw that you have to check to prevent that. (the screw that sits inside the slide shaft) For me, mine took HARSH treatment for about 3 months until i stripped the plastic input/crown gears on the rear diff. Got a full metal ARRMA replacement and it hasn’t broke since. My factory spur stripped a little after which was surprising it didn’t go before the diff. I’ve seen a lot say the servo is also the first to go, but somehow mine is still holding up. And trust me, I’ve sent mine flipping, cart wheeling, slamming nose dives from failed backflips on hard dirt, crash into things, slammed on the roof, and it’s still working 😆 This was my first basher ever, and I’d give the big rock a 10/10 for overall durability.
Also really interested to see this as I feel a shock upgrading coming as the next mod to my Big Rock. Can't wait to see you field test the result and report back on how the new shocks have improved the performance for bashing.
The sand and dirt will wear out the plastic spur gear is the issue they all will strip but arrma sells the upgraded metal gear that will last a bit longer but still will wear out over time 👍👍🙏🙏
The proline shocks look great but I just cannot justify the price. Here in the UK they are over £100 for the set. I just got a set of Arrma replacement shocks from jenny's for just over £20 so I could get 5 sets for the same money. I guess it's all relative and depends how far you want to go for upgrades and bling. One of the great things about this hobby you can customise to where you want your truck to be.
I turned my Granite Mega into a 3S. Didn't upgrade the gear housing. So still the stock plastic one. So far no issues with bending or breaking, has enough power it stretched my plastic drive shafts. Not sure why they would put a bendable aluminum one on there when the plastic seems to work perfectly fine.
I hate how loud the steel spur gear is. I purchased the hot racing spur gear and pulled it right back out Lol. I prefer the quiet. Thanks for these videos brother!
