That whole scene……one take! Marvelous!
The G.O.A.T!
Judy singing Battle Hymn of the Republic on her tv show is pretty phenomenal
Yes, it is astonishing.
She was 32 years old when the movie was released in 1954.
Her version of "Swanee" from a Star is Born is unbelievable
This is such a classic.
Loved your reaction! You just heard the iconic and one of a kind - Judy Garland!
She had such a rich voice!❤
Judy was magnificent! Thank you so much for your great reaction ❤
It makes me so happy to see how a person of your generation can appreciate Judy's performances. Our culture just might live on! Check out the film "Meet Me In St. Louis" for some of her other iconic songs, including "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". And if you really want to blow your mind, look up her duet on her own TV show with none other than a young Barbra Streisand.
is it her vibrato give you chills? bc that is one of the most distinctive parts of her singing
You have to hear her last film when she sings "Hello Bluebird" . It will blow you away, especially the last minute and a half.
...and her performance of By Myself!
Stunning, isn't it? Judy was only 31 when production began on the movie. It's a timeless piece of music that no vocalist would dare touch, even after all these years.Written by DuBose Hayward and Ira Gershwin. A captivating and superb performance.
Judy's version of "A Star is Born" was the first musical treatment of the material (it was made as a straight drama in 1937) and was her movie comeback after a rough period in both her career and personal life, she was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her performance. This song was written specifically for her, it became one of her biggest hits and one of her signature songs.
The movie is highly enjoyable but be warned, it was heavily cut by the studio after its initial release because they wanted to be able to have more showings in a day which actually hurt the film's box office performance. It was thought that the cut material was destroyed but in the 80's a major restoration of the film was undertaken and a great deal of it was found (including the entire soundtrack). However certain scenes were lost and still photos were inserted to cover that part of the soundtrack. It doesn't take up too much of the running time but is distracting if you are not aware and prepared for it.
There is a live version of this song available on line where she sings it in concert for her television show. It's even more impressive.
Judy had a set of giant lungs on her that could knock down the walls of Jericho, and she was only 5 ft 1 in tall!!!! She could act, sing and dance with the best of them. she was a major star and the bigwigs in Hollywood treated her like shit.
She was even shorter! 4'11
The movie is great.
She is famous for her starring role in this little cult classic movie “the wizard of oz.”
Great reactions to Judy. When you have time, would like to see your take on her version of "Swanee" the color version from here movie "A Star is Born". Same movie that The Man that Got away is from.
Judy Garland starred in many musicals. Check out: Somewehere ove rthe rainbow and Have yourself a Merry little Christmas.
She was 32.
Judy Garland was 22 when she made “A star is born “ 🤩🥹
What?!!!!
32, not 22.
You're ten years off. She was 32.
NO
Try What'll I Do
Early 30s. She had just had a baby too. Maybe a couple. But she could sing.
She had her 2nd daughter Lorna in November 1952, and began principle photography of A Star is Born on Columbus Day 1953. She became pregnant with her son and last child Joey during the final days of photography in July of 1954. She was 32 at the time
@jamesbusjahn6962 thank you
