It doesn't get better than that. An amazing combination of talent, control and depth of feeling. She's not just singing words but interpreting what they mean to her and sharing that with her audience.
When Judy sings “ I’m scared of living but scared of dying and regardless of how we feel old man river is euphemism for time passing - old man river he just keeps rolling a … long.. time keeps rolling along.
Thanks guys, I never saw Judy Garland sing this particular version of "Old Man River" before, what a story teller and great singer she was. You do know she's the same Judy Garland who sang "Over The Rainbow" which won the Oscar for best Original Song back in 1939 in "The Wizard of Oz". Judy was just 16 when she made this movie and made her one of the biggest stars in the world for the next few decades.
When Judy was in good shape, she could have done this any day of the week., and she did, on that TV show of hers. That top gear where she pulled out all the stops was so available to her that we simply expected it. She could just turn it on, on demand, and give it everything she had. Her talent seemed limitless. She was an institution. And then she was gone, but never forgotten
You guys are so awesome ❗ I remember seeing this video when I was around your age. I've never seen an artist who could bring the vocal power AND the amazing acting to such glorious heights. Judy was the most talented and genuine performer that ever lived ❤
I've been waiting waiting for months for you to react to this! (It's an old song from a musical called "Showboat" in which a black man cries out against the injustice of slavery. I do believe that Garland is the only woman to have sung this song and her voice and passion is as always real and instant. I saw that show when it was first broadcast.
Judy sang so many songs--you should react to her version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'--it should be the version played for Liverpool home matches, IMO.
You guys are awesome! Judy was one of a kind. She was the greatest talent the world has ever known. In my opinion, the only artist that equals her is Michael Jackson. They both have an almost ''other worldly’` quality about them. Check out Judy singing "As Long As He Needs Me" on The Judy Garland Show, episode #3. Thanks for your videos!
I absolutely love this reaction! I am a massive Judy fan and this is one of my favourite numbers of hers. I am also a fellow Scouser and Liverpool supporter - love the ynwa poster in the background.😊
Y este año, 2022, Judy Garland hubiera cumplido 100 años de vida... Y pasado el tiempo muchas generaciones que no la conocimos "en vivo", la amamos y admiramos...: cantaba y amaba cantar y amaba a su publico con toda su alma... Siempre estara vigente. Gracias! Dios los bendiga!
I stand corrected. This is the best selection for Liza Minnelli singing New York, New York: Liza Belts Out the Ultimate Performance of 'New York, New York' [REMASTERED 2013]
Listen to her daughter, Liza Minnelli, sing New York, New York. She blows the roof off the place. Find the 1992 clip filmed live at Radio City Music Hall.
You guys would like her even more, if you actually paid attention to what she was singing about, but you keep interrupting her so much you have any attention to what she is singing, and why she’s putting the emotion into what she’s putting it into. And how could you cut it off at the end like that?

React to “by myself”. Truly her best performances.

try watching Ol' Man River - William Warfield and MGM chorus(Showboat), its the best version of that song
FIRST! Happy Monday!
chewing gum while watching a masterpiece...
For a Sunday night or Monday, how about Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays?"
