There will never be a peformer like Judy again. A true star xxx
Amazing how Judy Garland can still WOW people today! An unsurpassed talent!!
Judy didn't 'sing' a song...she owned it, she lived it, she PERFORMED it....
Judy Garland was the greatest performer of the 20th century.
Judy was able to reach right in and grab her audience by the emotions
She's Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
Ole Man River is from the musical "Showboat."
Frank Sinatra said everytime Judy performed a piece of her died, I think because she genuinely gave everything everytime
Judy is a legend. She had an amazing career that was also tragic. Liza Minnelli is her daughter. Check out her duet with Barbra Streisand. Get Happy/Happy Days are Here Again.
You were listening to the original Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz ! She could do it all but, without question, singing in front of a live audience was her specialty and wherever she performed it was a SOLD OUT affair. As you can tell by this performance she had the audience wrapped around her finger and she didn't disappoint. If you listen to her sing Swanee River, well, just use your imagination, it's very special.
Judy was Hollywood's best. She was a triple threat. One of a kind vocalist, a great actor and dancer.
This was from Judy's television show, and yes it was always live! She is considered the greatest female singer of the 20th century!
Mother of Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft. I love Judy's version of 'Have yourself a Merry little Christmas' brings tears to my eyes.
Judy Garland played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
Seriously, did somebody NOT know that?

I think what’s happening is a result of the decline of network TV in favor of on demand streaming services. When I was growing up The Wizard of Oz was a yearly event because it was only broadcast (NBC?) once per year. Therefore everyone was very familiar with TWofOZ. ‘Kids’ today - anyone under 25 - didn’t grow up with this yearly event, so a lot of them have never seen it just aren’t as familiar with it.
Love her voice in a star is born too
Awesome voice
Best live performance ever, no one even close.
One of the greatest female singers of all time.
THE GREATEST!
It's amazing to see someone sing..and not need a bunch of crap happening to be great
And Judy was just 5 ft. tall - all that power!
Four foot 11!
4’9 without shoes! He high heels and big hair, and how she was filmed helped her to appear taller on screen than she really was. She was a petite “Power House”…one of the greatest belters!
I meant 4’ 11.
Hi again, Sheray ! And yet another genre of music that you discovered and fell in love with--- Judy Garland is best known for her appearance in the classic movie "The wizard of Oz", where she sings "Somewhere over the rainbow", I guess that's why she sounds so familiar ro you. OI' man river is another old classic, often covered somg, but her rendition is - in my opinion - one of the most beautiful...
Can'r wait to see you react to my latest suggestion from Eivor...
Best wishes from Germany : Gerry
I love watching you discover Judy Garland and her brilliance. She is a legend. Listen to "By Myself". You'll be glad you did.
That's Judy wizard of Oz movie the one of a kind voice and actress❤❤❤ I was caught at 4 when I first watched WIZARD OF OZ😊
Yip Wizard of Oz.
Something about this era of music.
Lois Armstromg, Cab Calloway are astounding. As for Nina Simome she is in a class of her own
The song was written in 1927 for a Broadway musical called “Showboat.” Two film versions were made of it. This beautiful song is one of the highlights. Two of the best versions of this song you will find videos on, are from the incomparable singer Paul Robeson, and William Warfield. Recommended to check those out! 🎶
I think Paul Robeson was the original singer of this song.
Here is another powerful and very emotional performance by Judy. This is a song from the film “A Star is Born” (1954.) The song is called The man Who Got Away.

"Who Got Way?" I love it!
The Wizard of Oz
Talent by the boatload, but such a tortured human being. Very sad life. This is one of her best ever performances.
You remember her from The wizard of Oz
You may know her from the wizard of Oz Dorothy she also has a daughter Lisa Minelli ✌️❤️
Judy's daughters, Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft, are also excellent singers.
Yes, Oz in 1939
❤🥀
You gotta hear this song, it was her last film I believe. Be prepared the last minute or so.....hang on to your seat!

Dorothy from wizard of oz. Song for musical show boat
Her Daughter sings just as well.. Liza...
At 4ft 11in tall, seemed tiny. Musically 10 ft tall.
Please watch william warfields original version of this song. you will cry from its beauty
Liza minnelli...is her daughter look her up
