If the cirrus is indeed a jet. Is he flying vfr in IFR conditions? Is he from another country also flying to Mexico or something? I can understand a foreigner not understanding special flight rules or transitioning throjfh LAX but if it's a US pilot, that's just shoking. It must be foreign because he's acting for simple vectors to avoid the bravo which is what a foreigner would do, but then why not file an IFR flight plan? Makes no sense
@@davidt8087 " I can understand a foreigner not understanding special flight rules" Piloting is piloting. Everyplace is going to have special flight rules. The guy needs to not be pilot.
These Mexican MFs are completely dangerous. Too many Pesos and too few brains. When the Spirit of St Louis replica came through Tucson years ago it was so bad TRACON had to close the airspace. They were trying to land at DM USAFB and TUS Intl without talking to anyone.
Is the cirrus a jet? I think he's a foreigner. Foreign aircraft especially a jet will fly IFR. I'm not sure why he was flying vfr. KSMO has many departure procedures. If he flew IFR he wouldn't have any trouble. Instead he took off vfr and foreigners aren't really aware of things like SFRA or transitions through Bravos. That's why he was asking for vectors to avoid traffic in the airspace. I'm sure other countries don't have things like special flight rules or published transitions through busy airspace, and instead planes get radar vectored if not on IFR. If he flew IFR he'd have no issues
There are a ton of reasons an airplane holding short may not ready at the end - through no fault of their own. They could be working an issue with the airplane or waiting on an IFR release or re-doing a checklist out of an abundance of caution. And it doesn't look like there is a good place to pull off the taxiway going to runway 3 at KJNX to allow other airplanes to pass. Sometimes you just gotta wait, and that's a good thing. Its means GA is alive and well.
The Cirrus pilot is scary! LA airspace is very complex and one of the busiest in the world. He took off with Zero clue what a legal VFR flight plan would look through that airspace. And ceilings of 1900ft? I’m almost certain he did not remain in legal VFR conditions. I pray ATC reported him to the FAA. He needs a serious talking to and probably some retraining.
He was unfamiliar with the airspace, which, I mean, you can look at charts all day and get confused vfr over unfamiliar territory. He was polite and relaxed, and all he asked for was some help, which he took immediately and without making a fuss. It was not different from an ifr departure, extra workload for ATC, but they could have refused, the fact that they complied instead of asking him to just get out of their airspace means it wasn't really an issue.
Dude you need to listen clearly. He's NOT A NATIVE US PILOT obviously. And I'm certain where he's from or where he's flown to other countries, busy airspaces in other countries most likely don't have things like special flight rules or published transitions like KLAX has. In other countries he can probably take off VFR in or near a busy airspace and ask for radar vectors. But the US has transitions or SFRA which are published. These things are only in the US and only for VFR pilots. He should have just filed an IFR flight plan and not have worried. And you pray to report him? Are you a fkn looser? Will it make you feel better if some pilot loses their license over something they can't be expected to know? And the FAA can't take away his flight certificates since he's obviously not from the US. Its like you are braindead

Then he tries to gasslight the other pilot by saying he was polite. I bet he is just as abusive with family and partners too. @SpaceDad42 What are you on about bud? This is probably the most obvious and clear cut case of gaslighting you'll ever see. Most people who do it are way better at it and not so obvious and clumsy with it the way that clown was. If you can't see gaslighting this obvious it's clear you are too ignorant of the subject to be commenting on it.
Sure seems like the ATC on the New Smyrna incident failed to understand the planned flight of the cub. The cub certainly could have been clearer, but ATC misinterprets and then starts talking over the pilot. I'm assuming the pilot was heading due south along the planned route when the 070 heading was issued turning the cub directly towards the pattern. Is it possible to get the radar data to verify? I suspect the cub pilot was flying and communicating with less precision than the ATC would have liked, but from what I can gather looking at the charts and listening to it all go down that the ATC made the most dangerous errors. I would love more professional insight.
My assumptions are the planned route was depart spruce creek, fly south along, or just west, of the interstate to a visual reference (undetermined) turning east towards the beach and "clipping the southwest edge" of the control zone in the process, then proceeding on a southerly cruise down the beach.
I think the ATC was low-key asking if he is an IFR-rated pilot when he asked the pilot if he could bust through the cloud layer. Doubtful the pilot was IFR-rated given his navigation difficulties.
That's an uncontrolled airport. All pilots announce intentions on the airport channel and talk to other pilots involved that way. No controllers present since it is a slow enough airport.
Yep, I was chewed out by my CFI not being ready for takeoff after making the Call -.... Holding short of Runway 26R... After that lesson, I make sure I go immediately when cleared for takeoff. However, I do take a good look at final before proceeding onto the runway and taking off.
Agree, If I made that mistake I would say sorry - thanks and take it as a lesson. I have made mistakes and the controller corrected me. It's more embarrassing to me making the mistake but I just correct, comply and learn. I am a student pilot. There have been some grumpy controllers - But the job is no easy and maybe a other pilots like the first one giving the controller a bad time and while tying up the frequency.
Any non English speakers need to pass ICAO level 4 English test to get their license. The problem is, when pressure or unfamiliar circumstances occur, a non English speaker will fumble the understanding of what is being said. As they try to translate to their language, than translate back. If it isn't a routine instruction, you may never get them to fully understand. Which is why when I work those guys, it is just routine instructions given. If there are 2 planes tied and I need one to do something non-standard, I am moving the English guy. Limit anything said to the foreign carrier to standard phraseology. Anything else, and you are asking for confusion.
How the heck does a country like the USA come up with a 77 and an over 80 year old as candidates for their presidency? Is there no one younger qualified? I always love the “I’ve been doing this xx years” response.
I took that as “I’ve been doing this wrong for 25 years and no one has complained.”
@MikesDIY exactly
When people say that it instantly tells my brain that the person is wrong and needs to now prove themselves correct with good evidence.
SMO was so painfully patient and professional. What an excellent controller to be able to baby someone so hard

Funny how I hear a certain accent from totally lost pilots who just want vectors.
