In this episode i get to work machining up the oak boards i have in preparation laminating up the curved roof beams.
My dad Chris and Rob come back for the day to lend a hand getting the cab sides prepped and bedded down onto the deck beams, then firmly secured with fixing.
Now i have all the laminated full length roof beams glued and cleaned up it time to get the chisels out and cut the first pair of dovetails on the first beam to be installed. followed by routing the pocket and getting the first beam dry fitted into the boat.

Good to see your dad helping out. Love the woodworking shots.
Great to see that true craftsmanship is not dead !
Finally a channel highlighting the boat and wood working crafts.Thank you Finn for the great content. Double thanks for keeping it pithy with no bloviating.
There are several other wooden boat channels if you have a look around youtube. one is Tally Ho (Sampson Boat Co.) and another is Acorn to Arabella and Western Flyer Foundation Channel just to name a few that I watch....
@@TimsBitsnPieces been watching all of them from the start.
Yes yes yes,,!
I was convinced I was going to die from boredom today, but NO.
A new flick from my fav boat builder saved the day.
Cheers and thanks from Sweden,, 🍻😎👍
Wow proper dovetails! You don't see that very often... Well done it's sure coming along nicely
Thanks for posting and sharing. Having the cab sides installed is a big step, as well as the first roof beam. Best wishes, and good luck.
Well done Finn. I bet your father is very proud. I know I would be.
Cheers Finn. I look forward to your vids not just for the work but the music also.
lokkin brill!
i get a great feeling just watchin
Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations with us. You are inspiring as a craftsman and a video maker.
Finn, You did an excellent job using that chisel on the beams for you coach house.
Every time i watch your craftsmanship, i am impressed. Its looking so good!
so nice to see the progress and such quality workmanship! I too was concerned that your channel would just fade away after your episode 9 announcement. very refreshing to see you have not given in and continued dedication to first off to yourself and your dreams! I'm not sure who wrote this but it goes something like this... it costs nothing to dream a little everyday and yet everything not to! ... I'm inspired ! thank you
I was watching the tally ho rebuild and thought Finn could pull off a RUclips channel. Then he goes and announces one. So here I am delightfully amused.
Roof beam is great show of progress. Sweeeeeet! Keep truckin
Excellent progress and beautiful work. Thanks Finn.
Wow, Finn, that's some pretty intensive labor for those dovetails. But they're gorgeous!
Looking more like a boat with the cab sides and beams in place. I enjoy your videos and progress.
Heck I don't believe Leo used duck tails.
Carry on. Well done Finn.
great work Finn! love a good proper dovetail - I am impressed with your chisel skills! Looking forward to the next episode.
Marvellous progress Finn. May you continue to inspire others.
Roof beams are looking great...good work!
You’re the most honest of all the boatbuilders that I’ve followed on RUclips it’s so lovely to see you at work I only wish I was a rich man you would get my financial aid in buckets full. All the BEST hope the rich ones give you the break you deserve
Looking great, the dovetails are fantastic
That joint was pretty fancy. It has to be called joinery not carpentry.I am sure Leo will be thrilled to see this video. He is certainly turning out well educated boat builders.
I could have sworn I saw another wooden boat junky giving a hand.
You may well have the only cement boat around with dovetail lap joints on curved laminated oak beams.
Absolutely brilliant Finn.Looking Awesome!
Beautiful work! Thanks for the episode
Hi Finn, please keep the work up on the building, editing and especially you fabulous choice of background instrumental music, you're introducing excellent artists to a wider audience.
Regards Eamonn (Atlantic Seaboard, ROI)
It looks amazing Finn. Thanks for the video.
That dovetail stuff isn't ever going to come apart. Awesome!
Really enjoying the videos since your start a while back. Especially admire the way you just DIG in and get the work done (and done very well) with as little fuss as possible! Cheers Mate!
Great work, thanks for posting 👍
She's coming along beautifully! Although I have to admit that after seeing what you were starting within the first episode I thought your channel would end with a mysterious boat house fire. I'm really glad it didn't!😊
Nice work! Beautiful. Really enjoy the format and the music. The boat and your video production are really coming along.
Thank you
Great to see your progress as ever Finn.
So good to see it coming along!!
Your apparent skillset far exceeds your age, cheers!
Wow! Really enjoy the progress.
Nicely done sir, those beams will look awesome.
Hi Finn - great progress!!! Tte coach-roof glue-lam beams are a work of art. Good on ya!!!! Hang in there and best of luck.
Exceptional! Good work Finn!
Finn, great workmanship! Keep up the good work!
Good video from Hampshire UK 🇬🇧 👌
Dude, your editing is really improving. Your telling a great story and I'm along for the ride.
A great job you are doing , your boat is very broad of beam, waiting for more progress
You are one hell of a craftsman......

Nice fit on the roof beam. Good job!
I am very surprised that you don't have more views than you do. I find your videos extremely interesting and very well done.
Great work young man. 👍🏻👍🏻
Well done mate you have come a long way since starting on Tallyho and showing some good skills MV Joy-C
Nice work! Coming along nicely.👍👍
You are an inspiring guy, really look forward to your updates. Great workmanship!
Great work Finn! Looking good!
Beautiful work
Hi Finn, nice to see y again.
Well done man . 👍
You are happy with the progress??? I am TRILLED ! Glad to see you conscripted your Dad & friend to help with the heavy lifting as it seemed that you have had to handle this project by yourself. Keep up the fine work!
Nicely done 👍
The soundtrack that you use when you're mixing the epoxy and fitting the cabin sides is the same track as several other channels I watch hahahaaaaa..... She is slowly coming together and looking great.
Looking good Finn.
Well done!
You are following the Art of Boat Building meme - 'make it look beautiful'.
Great progress.
Thanks for sharing.
Grand job with the laminated beam jig. Nice to see the video after getting a preview or two over on Instagram :)
Beautiful dovetails Finn
Keep chipping away, your doing great!
Cheers and well done from Canada. If we all chip in a few quid could you please buy Rob a belt? LOL
Really enjoyed watched. Cheers...rr Normandy, Fra.
Great work mate. Nice one!
Really coming together now. Good skills 👏
I love your workmanship. Keep going !!!
F#ck yeah, dude. This looks great!
Great job!
Solid Progress
Great work mate
Awesome !!! Well done you !
Fine job !
I’d love to hear a short talk about all upcoming projects needed before launch.
Lots of nice detail too - cutting off the sapwood in oak. He lines out his edge cuts with the narrow face up. If one does it the other way, one gets sapwood in the boards, maybe not so important in this application where he's laminating with epoxy, but generally a way to have problems with insects and rot down the road.
GREAT! KnotFINN's vid this weekend, next weekend Leo's Tally Ho!
@01:00 Dewd, you REALLY need to set up infeed and outfeed supports for your planer/thicknesser (and especially for your table saw)!
@07:16 An instant after I wondered where Da was, he appeared … if I hadn't thought of it, would he have stayed home?
@11:57 Oh, my! That arch is awesome! What a beautiful, graceful line!
Nice work Finn!
Cheers from Brazil!!🇧🇷
lovely mate
I could have watched your chisel work on those dovetail joints all day long. Watch with Finn might be a spin off you tube channel.
Keeping keeping on.
Labor of love!
Certainly is!
😊 Nice work Finn ! 👍👍
Excellent progress.
If there was some way to have a "Buy a bolt" fundraiser I am sure you would have silicon bronze throughout.
I like the idea, I will think more into it. Thanks for the comment.
Great idea!! Manifest those bronze fixings!!
Love it great job
Looking good
Good luck with this Finn, I really enjoy the less “professional” approach (butt cracks and all :-) ) A2A and Sampson are amazing but your less “big league” look is refreshing. I hope I get to post a recollection to when I started watching this channel, when you have hundreds of thousands of viewers. Keep it up lad.
Yes, you are inspiring Finn. Using the tools you have, and the space you can afford, like most of us have to do, and concentrating on the project. Those laminated oak beams and your chiseled dovetails using just simple tools - it's beautiful!
Stunning!
Looking great
Cheers from Melbourne, Finn. Just love those laminated deck beams with their dovetails, To see them start out as a natural edge slab of oak, and go through the various processes to become a beautiful and precise finished product is really inspiring.
nice work.
Good to see you getting back to the videos been waiting!
