- Episode 17
In this episode its time to go for a sail on board the 97 year old Thames sailing barge Repertor to take part in the first race of the season, The Pin Mill Barge Match.
Before we can hoist the sails and head out onto the water we have to get the rig raised and let the riggers get everything ship shape.
After an awesome weekend sailing on board these majestic beauties its time to get back to the workshop and get cracking on the fitting of the rest of the full curved roof beams and carlins.

Very nice capturing of the sailing! 👍👍👍👍
Love the film of the sailing barges. It's nice to see that some traditions are kept alive.
Also, I'm enjoying the work you are doing on the roof beams. I'm learning a lot from watching you work.
Very beautiful work. It's a great pleasure watching your work. Thank you.
Excellent video.
I especially liked the old barges as I grew up in Maldon and lots of them would come in and out.
I have fond memories of the races in the '70s and' 80s and recall Reminder nearly 50 years ago when a girl I went to school with lived aboard her.
Lovely jointing and natural curves with a sharp chisel! SkipRay,Kerry.
High quality workmanship, coming along well, just another two years to the water!
Good morning Finn from Japan.
Sunday morning coffee an watching someone else work.
Off for a sail now. gary
Nice to see the old Galadriel, beautiful old Baltic ketch.
Finn, I knew you were a rising star when viewing some of those early episodes of the rebuilding of Tally Ho, then by pure accident, I fell onto your channel and here you are rebuilding your own boat. Awesome work, content and all the rest. I was immediately hooked, and am now looking forward to each and every episode. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Great tunes.👍
You’re part of a small group of people that actually do what they love doing... and it shows. Many thanks, I’m really enjoying your videos

Love the format.. sail a little, chisel out a little art. This sounds like a recipe for a great channel! Good know ya Finn and thanks.
Nice joinery. Nice barges. That Queen Galadriel looks like a tasty boat too.
I love the lady at 10:30 that's managing the foot of the luff whilst chatting with her friend.

Beautiful Work!
Coming on nicely as are your woodworking skills. I can see that you will become an important member of the traditional boatbuilding and repair community. Well done
Thanks for posting and sharing. The sailing looked great. Glad to see all the progress on the cabin roof.
Didn't know the purpose of the red sand forts so I Googled them... pretty cool history and I'm glad you shared it with us.. thanks from just south of the great lakes in the midwest USA..
What a awesome experience you took us along for!!! I must admit that most channels that put music in their content really brings out the suck factor but you have some wonderful taste in music and you're quite the craftsman
So nice. Love it
A true piece of art! Thanks for showing.
Great going along in the race. My woodwork is for fun watching you using a mallet and chisel because it makes sense to is inspiring.
Enjoying your videos Finn. Take a tip from one who knows, use a mallet instead of your fist, you will thank me in forty years or so, keep up the great work!
Completely mesmerising video, from start to finish. Those Thames barges are magnificent.
The construction of those joints is a joy to behold. Enviable workmanship. Love it!
Inspirational
Keep on keeping on Finn
Nice work 👏👏👏👏🇬🇧👍🍺😎
Racing a barge is like bringing a VW Bus or a Sprinter Van to an uphill race, or oxen to a horse race .... I pretty much like that concept 😂
lovely work as always Finn
best sail I've seen in a long long time.
Beautiful sailing and ship building!
Good to see another episode.
Great episode Finn, some very close classic sailing and some exceptional wood working vision. Look forward to ongoing adventures and hard work. cheers
Great content, as always. You create an atmosphere with your videos that makes me want to go and live in your area. It feels so relaxed and stress free, or at least you do not share that part. I feel reborn after hard days, watching your videos.
I LOVE the dovetails on the roof beams! I would've gotten myself a dovetail router bit to speed things up, but your chiselling does look great. 😊
I’m in no rush and enjoyed the satisfaction of using a chisel 👍
Nice work
Just love 2 se those sailing barges race... i want more!!!!
and progress on your boat is always nice !! good work mate :-) waiting 4 next episode..
Loved the barge sailing, followed by a dose of skilled woodwork...
Cheers,, 🍻😎👍!
Wow, that race was really something to see, those sails were massive as were the masts you had to lift, unbelievable! Your woodworking skills are crazy good, the boat is looking so nice! Thanks so much for your wonderful episode!

Beautiful barche in holland we have skûtsjesilen it is a bit smaller but also hard work 👍 and fun
Thank you on the "barge" info, nice to learn new things. Speaking of Things-"tis a beautiful wood working job!" Stunning wood work that you have done! Thanks for sharing all! Rich
Great video and I wish it was longer it just seems like there's too much time goes by before your next video I do appreciate them and you my best to you and yours God bless
Looking good!
Amazing work Finn, your dedication to this Smack is evident . Good job
Hey Mate, great video as always ! There's always this smidge of a "Tally Ho" tinge when I see your vids and that's great, we know where you come from. I am not a boat builder, rather a woodworker and blacksmith, and it's really inspiring to see your work and you having fun on the water. Anyways, keep it up and Hi from Belgium accross the pond !
Well made video I enjoyed 👍
That house top looks great.
Just found and subscribed, thank you for excellent posts..
Great video. The Thames Barges were awesome!! Did quite a lot of photography in Malden - they make great subjects. Great progress on the roof carling. Neat work!!! Till the next video, best of luck.
Well done Finn great to the progress.
Highly skilled and meticulous, a very good watch.
Lookin' Good!
Great seeing the barges at PinMill.
Reminder seemed to be your Klingon for the race. Typical east coast wind picked up when the tide turned.
Looked like a great day.
Those long diagonal booms are really something. I would've expected a shorter top boom on a rig like that. Beautiful to see those barges in motion.
Great job Finn!!
Damn it!!
Brilliant! Love your vids.
Thats nice! Now bach to work Finn. ;)
Excellent! Pin Mill is down my way :-)
Great video Finn, full of interest - thanks, from here at Leigh-on-Sea.
👍!!!
Great choice of music, fits in nicely with the sailing and the joinery. Lovely to see the project grow.
Oyster Smack.
A noise annoys an oyster.
But a noisy noise annoys an oyster most.
👍👌👏 Very well done again. I'm always very impressed what a skillful craftsman is able to do with sharp chisels.
Best regards, luck and health.
It’s not the length of time but how good of a job he does. From the looks of what he’s done so far “he’s just fine “
See you next time :)
Great video Finn!
I heard Tally Ho has been moved to Port Townsend.
Lol. Dovetails? Time to show off some great woodworking skills.
Looking good Finn. The deck beams that is! Have you looked into roto molded tanks? They last forever. Fuel and water. Very common with commercial boat builders like Beneteau etc.
I shall take a look into them, thank you
