This is the grand daddy of all of the wooden boat building YT channels. Why it only has 16k subscribers is beyond me. Great work with such massive timber, guys. Salute!
I think the channel needs a lot more publicity as I have just found the channel and have spent hours starting with the first videos, trying to catch up to the present status. Wish I were younger and would love to have been a part of the building crew and possibly later, a member of the sailing crew.
just putting it out there guys,i love yami too.♥ i have been a craftsman/silversmith/jeweller since i was 14,i am 60 now, just a bit about the joy of passing on the knowledge, getting to share it,i have many students some pay some do not have to it depends i barter ,i have alot of youngsters its awesome.teach as many as you can,its such a joy at my age i can drop snippets of wisdom along with the education , and the ones that get it deserve it,peace and love guys.
have to say that your video's are very beautiful. it's like the cinematography is very much like a high end documentary you can only see on TV and nature channels. keep up this high level of quality and i'm sure it will quickly be followed by more subscribers.
Magnifique projet , à l'échelle de notre planète du moment que l'on gère nos ressources en l'occurence , la gestion des forêts mais pas que !!! J 'aimerai faire partie de l'équipe ...
It was said "very fast work"; I've been watching for a year and I see some of the progress, but It seems like this will take another 10 years to finish at least. Planking will be an engineering feat ! Can't wait till that gets videoed.
Watch 'Sailing Yaba' They've completely reframed and replanked their craft, which, at just half the size of Sailcargo, has only taken a couple of months, so I would think , with the large professional crew they have, it should take less than a year to finish the hull...
Coming along beautifully. Can't wait to see the hull planking going on. She's going to be a beauty when she's done. What kind of rigging is planned? Brig? Lateen? Lugger? Bermuda? Junk? A combination?
I hope they go with center line gaff or Marconi/Bermuda sails. If they really want to make headway in heavy seas as a commercial enterprise, they is really no other option.
I love this channel. My only criticism is that you do not make enough videos. I would love to know the tropical hardwoods you've used for the centerline and the frames as well as the wood you're using for the deck beams, planking etc. I wish she could could be bolted and fastened with bronze but I suppose that would be way too expensive? Can't believe how you guys manage to work in the heat down there. The shipwrights and their ship are amazing.
I've been watching your videos and I would love to contribute to this project. Is there a possibility to come visit you? Maybe in September? Pls. Let me know if you are interested.. such a worthwhile idea, back to the future.. regards!!
Watch a few older videos. The dimensions, weight, etc, have all been explained. It’s a great project - I just hope they finish this fantastic undertaking. They won’t make a dent on global shipping, but it’s a great concept on a tiny scale. Can you imagine replacing ten million tons of cargo a week with a wooden vessel carrying 250 tons?
Have you looked at ULD's ? That is Unit Load Devices.. these are the standardized air cargo containers used worldwide. many get retired or scrapped for minor damages while still being useful and can be bought at auctions for their metal value. You may also want to look at perhaps making some customized pallets or containers that best fit the unique spaces in your hold adjacent to hull, and between beams , ribs etc to maximize volume while protecting contents during shipping. See : www.satco-inc.com/air-cargo-containers/ or www.thefreighthero.com/airfreight/air-freight-containers for some examples.
*- Are joints ever used where a long slender 1/4-1/2" wedge is set/place into the bottom of a receiving "mortise" hole and widens a "Tenon" into a Dove Tail that locks tight within an appropriately shaped receiving "mortise/DoveTail" hole?* *- Why not?*
I've wondered how they will move cargo below decks where there are no cranes. I know it's been done for centuries but I can't imagine how they wrestled tons of goods from hatch to the farthest reaches of the hold...Rollers, sliders, tracks, or just sweaty, brute strength?...
Could you post a list here of your income and costs to date please? I would also like to see a list of personnel (not by name) and their professional qualifications?" in your own time, no rush. thank you.
" the world's largest wooden cargo sailing ship." WRONG The Obaid, measuring 91 metres in length and 20 metres in width, was hand-built on Dubai Creek The dhow is larger and stronger than a traditional one, and will be able to carry four time more cargo in and out from Dubai’s docks.
Amazing RUclips channel. Thank you!
I really like this Project !!!
Could you please guys give more detail about engines, Battery ext. ?
Greetings from New Zealand

Wow you guys have come a long way...congrats
i came to smell the good wood!
Beautiful to see ‘old’ people from time ago and all their progress happening …. IMPRESSED …!

As a broken down old guy I really love to watch your progress, blessings and good luck to you all
Fantastic and bigest job !!
I don't know what Yami said but her quiet enthusiasm at this chance of learning how to build Ceiba brought a tear to my eye. I am so happy for her.
CC is working now. Yami was translated into English.
👍great job by all!
😯 WOW! The sailing cargo ship Ceiba is huge!!!! This was the first time I realized just how big she is.
Most excellent video production. Thank you
4:22 that planer will never look that new again
Great project… nice video production
A cold shower must feel good at the end of the day with all that humidity and sawdust flying around😃
wonderful to watch Ceiba grow
Fantastic video! Love seeing the journey of the boat and the people! Thank you! 💖
Beautiful people building a beautiful ship.
Really interesting design details that you don't see on pleasure wooden boats. The animation definitely helped to understand the construction.

Great fittings- beautifully. !

Very nice way of telling the story! Kudos!

The amount of precision in every detail of such a huge ship is absolutely inspiring! ♥️

Fabulous project
Muito bom. Construção naval, a arte da carpintaria naval.

Question: How will standard cargo containers make it down through those hatches?
Maybe zero?
I wonder how it’s possible to be a professional shipwright as I would always want to go with the ship I built when it was done.
When you've done the hull, you're about 1/3rd of the way there... there's masts, rigging and fit-out. etc.
Should /could you start planking?
Ceiba is an amazing wooden boat. How long is Ceiba in feet? Love your content keep it coming :)

So does boat building make you look like a pirate or do all shipwrights just look like pirates?
How much cost of this woodin cargo ship? And length
Where please in Costa Rica is this ship yard. I live in CR and would like to visit some time if that is possible.
Changui!
when she is finnished how many people do you need to sail her ?
👍

Rope and tackle blocks I suppose but I don’t see why they couldn’t add a crane on top deck or use a crane at port.
Im suprised i haven't seen 1 single blunt being smoked lol . Great People this high of calliber are deff hitting that mary j on lunch break !

😍😘
Got a bad feeling for the future of this ship on the high seas.
It should be fine, it's super-strong and they have an engineer looking at it.
Give me food, shelter and I will work..
" the world's largest wooden cargo sailing ship."
WRONG

Too expensive hobby, but practically to do wat ?
Why do you guys refuse to post your income and costs to date? Seems a little suspect. What are you hiding? A fraud perhaps?
Sure looks very hot there 😅
