Firstly, a huge thanks to all of you who donated towards the project to help with the purchase of the water tanks and main power supply components. Your support is overwhelming, and massively helps speed the process up.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Now we have all the components on order it's time to get started on with some work inside the boat.
I begin this task by machining some oak to build the house battery banks shelf. This will then allow me to start planning the locations for the rest of the power supply component and engine running equipment.
I also make a start on the Starboard side capping rails.
Now the timbers have been sat clamped for around three weeks since rough cutting them in the last episode, allowing the fibres in the timber to relax to reduce the movement once trimmed to size.
it's now time to unclamp and lay on each template to mark out and cut each timber slightly oversized to allow for final fitting.
And we receive a SHOCKingly exciting delivery of some components for the boat!!!

Hey Finn, It would be great if you could contact Leo and have him stop by while he is in England and film the meeting on your next video! Most of us viewers found out about you via Tally Ho and it would be a great way to complete the circle.
Happy to see the batteries in the video! We are excited to see the 'FINNished' yacht! Good luck!
Big projects take time, even if you have a team of helpers it is a long process but to do it on your own while trying to work full time to support yourself it's an enormous task !
I don't mind the infrequent videos as long as they don't suddenly stop but I can see you are determined to see it through so it's fine, just go at your own pace and try to avoid burnout from setting unrealistic goals and deadlines.
Over to bump up the algorithm and see the video again. Take care and have a great week.
So pleased that you are getting the bits that you need together, looking very good.
This has vibes of the laid back early days of the Tally Ho project.
Good work, Finn!👍
At least Finn hasn't had to truck 4 tonne of rotting timbers for 200 miles, only to pull it all apart to discard it. 🙂
Hi Fynn, I'm so pleased for you that the electrical goodies have arrived. The smile on your face said it all. No doubt, like many of your subscribers, I also watch Leo and his team rebuilding Tally Ho. What impresses me with your project is that you appear to be working on it virtually single handed. Good luck for 2023 and beyond!
P.S. does your yacht have a name yet?
hi Finn, don't worry about the progress! things take time and i still appreciate you making these videos a lot. just keep doing like you do...
Happy New Year Finn! I follow five other boat building channels, and you are right up there with the best. Can't understand why you don't have more followers; you really deserve them! Best of luck for 2023!
I Agree a very worthwhile channel and project, I think the lack of subscribers is down to volume, Acorn to Arabella has 180K subscribers but is posting weekly. and many in the middle are appropriately subscribed according to regularity of posting eg 6 points. Now quality of filming character of presentation type of project etc have an influence but I believe the regularity factor has the most. Finn its such a treat to see you pop up on my notifications but I almost have to refresh my memory of you and the project each time.
Of course that tempered by please don't feel obliged like I said its a treat but I realize barely viable for you Finn so we are truly grateful.
Agree Finn is a one man show! Acorn got a little to fluffy for me but great guy !
@@rcdogmanduh4440 Acorn to Arabella has become the fiberglass boat builders. Its going to sink due to the cracks in the hull. You can literally see daylight through her planking.
@@TheBambislayer you are wrong on the cracks they will be fine with a drink of water and proper caulking. As to fiberglass that is right and practical for this time and that boat.
@@TheBambislayer You are a troll. Please go away
Not sure how I didn't get a notification about this video I only just found it when looking at the video just uploaded. Nice to see you have been making progress even if I missed it.
Happy to see you Finn. Leo is in England right now. Hope he stops by.
👍👍 keep up the great work !
P.S.
I know it's not even close to your current needs, but ..
small "coffee" donation sent to help stay awake ..😉
Some late Christmas presents! Slowly but surely...
Happy new year mate.
I have been watching your boat building journey since you joined the tally ho crew.
It's really nice to see you take on a project on your own.
Keep up the good work, I think you are on to a winner.
Your the man,its looking awesome. Hopefully you'll get all your goodies in short order. Thanks for the video, always
Leo Light - go Finn 💪
(Happy to have donated to this project)
Finn….good to see you again….always look forward to an episode…keep up the good work…….
Happy new year, mate! Looking forward witnessing your journey on this new year! All the best from Texas!
Cheers Finn x
Well done Finn, nice to see the progress you’re making. The boat is taking shape and it’s going to be a beauty when it’s eventually on the water…
Happy New Year, Finn! From out here on Vancouver Island we wish you a great 2023 and continuing progress toward your dream! Love your music choices by the way. You got great taste in music.
Let's go Finn we need some Content chop chop
Finn! Great to see a new video up! cheers
Very cool that I found your channel from the beginning. So much has changed. From the quality of the videos to the amount of accomplishments done to the boat. All that electrical equipment really lit your face up. Very pleased to see. Happy New Year, Finn! Here's to 2023!! 🎊 🎉
Don't neglect to use Dielectric grease in all of the crimps. Corrosion of connectors is hard to spot until it becomes a big problem. The grease will prevent hidden degradation of your connections even if they have internal heat activated glue. It's cheap insurance... 👍
Knot a long enough vlog Finn, I could watch them for hours
Good to see you Finn. Happy new year to you and your family
You’re doing all single handed too?! Courage and iron will 😎
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too!!! CHEERS from Westcoast Vancouver Island!
Happy New Year Finn! Cheers...rr Normandy, Fra.
Looking good fin
Always enjoy watching your project of refitting your yacht. Keep the videos coming. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Great content, excellent filming and explanations, the hull material should be an excellent choice for sailing the tropics.I met a guy in Seattle that built a ferro boat in Florida in 1973 and is still sailing it.
Looking forward to this moving forward chapter 👍
Happy New Year to you too Finn - to where we are all sure it will be another great and productive one for you and another year of great viewing for us. 16,000 views in 2 days says it all ! Well done mate.
Dear Mr. Finn.
Happy new year. 2) 👍👌👏 Glad to see you being happy!
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
very Happy New Year Finn
great work as ever, good to see you cracking on where and when you can, you are doing more than i am at least, so never feel bad for the few videos you put out, great to see the progress forever moving in the right direction
Happy New year Finn.
Regarding your remark on the frequency of your uploads, I at least would appreciate a "talking head" video were you talk about your choices and possibilities for the outfitting .
For inspiration there is a YT channel of a bald headed narrowboater Chris Mears. His early video's are all about the choices and decisions since the building was done by others. Was still entertaining to me.
Rushing decisions and analysis leads to wrong decisions, greater expense and extends the timelines. You’re doing it the right way. Cheers from Toronto.
happy New Year, Cheers from Sequim
Happy New Year Finn - great to see the steady careful progress you're making. With all the electrical goodies arriving I guess Xmas has come twice this time round!! I look forward to each bit of content. All the best for 2023.
I was thinking those boards looked good, and then you said they weren’t even finished. Huge respect for the craftsmanship going into this boat.
I wish you a very fruitful 2023. e
Really appreciate seeing you use appropriate safety measures when using the planer. One of my carpenter friends lost the tips of two of his fingers not using these safety measurs. Congrats, Finn.
Glad you are back. Carry on my wayward son.
Looking forward to the next episode.
🙂👍take care !!
Boat is looking better and better! Great video! 😎💕👍
Happy new year to you Finn 👌
Looks like your NEW YEAR is full of great things already Finn-and we just started! Stay well, keep up the GREAT woodwork and each and every piece of progress toward that dream fulfilled!
Best ever on the Electrical system job also! Rich
Great video, great skills! One of the best boat building channels on you youtube! No nonsense presentation with lots of progress shown.
Great job
Good progress. Highest Blessings
Looking good!
Nice!
Thanks Finn old chap!
Looking good mate way to go
You should add the ability to charge 120 as well. Just in case you end up in the USA at some point in time.
Happy New Year, Finn. Love watching you work on the oak. Exciting to see essential goodies arrive for the build. Thanks for sharing. 2023 is going to be an a good year to watch your progress.
Hey Finn! Love your channel. Suggestion for a video: I would like to see a video overview of the hull, hear about the design characteristics (length overall, length at waterline, draft, ballast, etc. plus details of the rig specified on the design. would love to see a planview and elevation view, and maybe hear you talk about how you acquired her. That is all - carry on.
Hiya Finn
Thanks Finn
I was captivated throughout the whole video, no fast forwarding at all ,off to watch Sampson's Boat Cɔ the Tally-Ho project
...Hi, one vídeo for the week. ..!!..
Hi Finn I hope you had a good Christmas and a Happy New year by the looks of it Christmas just arrived you set up for the electrics is great where it is a clever use of space
Thanks Finn.
Hi Finn happy New Year.
👍
👍!!!
Happy new year, Finn! The rail really changes the appearance of the vessel and I really enjoyed the close ups of the joinery. If I may make a suggestion, please add some up lighting when you're on screen. Although you're a fine looking fellow, the ambient top and side lighting in the boathouse makes your face a bit ghoulish on video. Cheers mate!
As Per Finn ,, unreal work ,,, just a note,, do you watch Ran sailing ? He seems pretty clued up ,, and for a lighter note , do you watch « wildling sailing « Mark from preston ,, just bought a wharram thingy ,, and it’s a complete mess and he is probably out of his depth but with lots of enthusiasm lol ! Watching these other guys just confirms you are quite a special guy .
Fantastic vid as usual mate, does the yacht have a name?
Is the current bulwarks going to have a taller rope/wire railing setup to prevent over board incidents ?
Finn, is that a Yanmar engine? If not, what is it? Another good episode! We support you 100%!
From the video, it seems that the fence on your jointer is flexing a lot. I don't know if that have an effect on the angles on your boards.
⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵
Happy to help! I did send a donation in your direction by PayPal before Christmas. Just wondering if you got it? lots of Scammers about! I get a thank you from Leo if I donate to Tally Ho. Would be good I think, if you could do the same. May encourage people to donate again for the remainder of the project!
question : Has Finn ever mentioned what he will name this vessel ? I don't think I ever heard him say.
Those Batteries do not like a lot of heat, where are you going to vent them? Also the engine makes a lot of heat, is that the best place for them?
Hopefully the batteries are LiFePo4 they are safer than Li- Ion.
I don't think I would go with expensive lithium batteries in a sailboat, because wouldn't a heavier bank of cheaper batteries just save some ballast?
Good work, but the music freaks me the f out man
Your audio levels a bit on the low side (compared with other RUclips channels) Not sure it needs to be changed, but it may impact your viewership
Are we ever going to see a new episode ? Now February 2024 ....
Galvanic isolator doesn't stop corrosion, it just reduses it a bit. I find my zinks last about 10% longer.
Hey Finn! 👋 Happy New Year 🎉
I keep trying to follow your Instagram but I get the message that it’s not available. Don’t know what to do 🤔😝
