- **EPISODE 19**
Time to get on with this troublesome transom!
Feeling pretty awesome after the last few weekends making some good progress on the rebuild of the counter stern.
In this episode, its time to get the bottom transom board bedded onto the counter stern so I can complete the task of fairing out the uneven ferro cement where the transom meets the hull.
Once completed, the task of sealing up the aft of the boat continues with the replacement of the rubbing strake and relaying the deck.

Really great to see the transom completed and the aft deck on. Great illustration and instruction on this one Finn. You should be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing!
Finn, your work on the boat and your video quality just keeps getting better and better! I wish you all the success in the world!
I am looking forward to see the work on the insides! Great job so far
You can tell that the stern repair was very well thought out. I imagine discussions over pints with your work mates has been part of the process, as well as some lost sleep as you do the repair countless times in your head. It's great to see such care taken on a project. The love you have for your boat will I'm sure shine in the final product. Always happy to see another video. Know that they and your work are truly appreciated. Fair winds and a fair tide from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Nice to see another lefty working
Nice work young Finn - so much planning and preparation off camera - it does not go unnoticed - really enjoyable episode. Thank you.
Thanks for the update. I enjoy watching your progress.
Well done. Yes, determination is worth its weight in gold!! Cheers
Very nice work and the shape of the boat is the bees knees
Finn,
A very fine effort. I am certain Leo is applauding your effort & determination as well. Congratulations on a task well done. That's a terrific counter stern. Very elegant.
Great work, and I do appreciate your much improved videographer skills too.
Good job Finn,I’m sure all that new work is there for keeps, you won’t have any trouble with that👌🙂
You are really doing some solid work and making sure that you have something that will last. This may not go down as one of the quickest rebuilds but that does not matter when you are doing something right. Keep it up and keep those videos coming as they are definitely improving as the restore progresses.
That's a very elegant looking stern Finn.
Fins videos are getting better.
WoW,, a concrete boat ,, haven't seen one since the 70's,, very popular way back then,
Very well presented and lots of helpful information given.
Nice progress and progression Finn. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Incredible work 🤙🏼
AWESOME work!! Leo and you are taking up way too much of my time!! ...you are must sees!!
....how about a "workshop tour" with some detail comments about the tools and machines you are using? ...and a list!!
Cheers,
TJ
Thanks for sharing this Finn
Finn, my compliments on your descriptions of how and why as you are doing the work. I love the methods hat you are using and see the thought that you put into each step. Congrats at doing a truly great bunch of respectful works. You will benefit for as long as you have that boat.
You will keep these videos as an archive as how well this boat has been brought back to life!
...And you are getting great inner satisfaction on all.
Stay well! Rich
Late to the party, Finn, but another Sampson subscriber here (was rewatching Leo's build and caught your channel plug second time round). Happy to subscribe and watch your progress with a quite different set of challenges.
Finn i enjoy your attention to detail. The Transom looks amazing.
THANK YOU FINN, GOOD WORK AND VID. REGARDS RICHARD..
Excellent video and great work. Thank You.
Looking Good Finn, keep up the good work.
Nice work! Video work is very polished now, keep them coming.
Nice work but I have a suggestion having done loads of epoxy boat building work. Get yourself a couple of plastic notched trowels with varying notch depth. They’re cheap, and great for spreading and evenly distributing epoxy at the best thickness, and will save on materials and remedial sanding etc once cured. Added bonus, being plastic the epoxy will easily chip off the trowel even if you forget to clean them after use. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Looking good. Looking forward to your next video......!
Nice job son. Thats going to be a bautifull boat.
Looked a well thought out solution to a tricky job ,more power to your elbow my friend .😀
Awesome job Finn thanks for sharing
Really well done, counter sterns are damn tough.
Oh yeah Finn, good job. :)

You are a master craftsmen 👍
That looks amazing great job, your skills are really sharp now
Awesome job Finn… Keep it up mate….👍
Well done, great video
I've never been a boat guy, but I have been following several boat-building channels ever since I stumbled onto Leo's restoration of the Tally Ho. I'm amazed that, despite regular use of power tools, so much of boat building seems to come down to fine hand crafting.
great craftsmanship!
Quit the process. Great video!👍👍
Looking good!
Enjoying your boat rebuild keep up the great work. I have to agree with another commenter that the production is also improving. You should try to put out a video on the opposite weeks as Leo so we can enjoy a video every week between the both of you LOL.
Go on Finn lad!
Killer job

That piece that you used seeka flex on will be there as long as the concrete hull is!!! Nice work.. I stumbled across a new channel who has bought a ferro sailboat and told him that i was interested in learning more about them especially since they're a low cost for alot of boat..said he had acquired alot of information and would be glad to email it all to me..
Merry Christmas, FINN!

Great job mate
As always ….great music…..
never seen a cap bill that massive
Excellent work, Finn!
Nice👍🏻
Nice tidy job Finn, looks good and strong. I have been using Bic biros for marking out on certain jobs where a pencil is too fragile. They are practically the same dimensions as a pencil.
Wow just found your site. Very nice work and look forward to watching your project thru completion. Very nice work.
Great to see another video of your progress Finn. More power to your elbow.
Great stuff Epoxy but it is like buying gold! CHEERS from Westcoast Vancouver island in Canada!
Finn! What a fantastic video you made here. I really enjoyed the voice overs, the stop action video and music. The cabin top finished so nicely. I think you can say the same for the Transom and fashion piece.
Thanks for sharing your hard work on this tricky process, Finn. Very interesting and pleasing to see it coming together for you and look forward to future updates. Ian from Fife, Scotland.
Nice work Man
Nice to see you staying with it Finn. There are so many abandoned boat projects out there. Keep at it!!!!
Looking good Finn. That was some luvly squeeze out. Your back end is looking solid😁. 👍
looking good Finn, thanks for that.
Great update Finn.
Where there’s a will…
Have a great week.🙂
I enjoy your informative and realistic videos immensely. I am an architect and involved in designs for prefabrication, glass fibre reinforcement of concrete and 'impossible' constructions. You should check out the architect Pier Luigi Nervi (1891 - 1959) and his designs - he built a two masts 40' yacht for himself with a 12mm thick hull of concrete in 1948!!
It’s great to see some real progress it always helps enthusiasm for the next part.
Aloha from Hawaii 🌺. Great work on the boat, making progress. Looking forward to more. I hope to have my own boat project one day.
Really looking lovely. The lines on this boat are beautiful. Cheers, Ian
