Amazingly, from the time I put it on until the time I take it off 12 hours later it neither loses or gains time, it stays locked in. At night, it will gain a few seconds laying on it's side with the crown up or lose a few seconds on it's side with the crown down. So I alternate that position every night and it keeps perfect time.
@@Monochrome-watches Yes, I couldn't be happier as the only thing missing here is the overpriced name. And the wonderful thing about it is as long as I don't let it come to a complete stop it will be more accurate over the longer term than any other watch made...I'll never have to manually correct the time.
Maybe I try changing positions. Buyed one 2 months ago. It loses 1 sec per day in normal use, during sleep it’s 8 hours max in box per day. When taken off I put it in normal position.
I actually purchased 2, the black and the silver ones, and purchased an extra leather strap from Tissot to swap and change the look. I like the 80 hour power reserve.
I’m very pleased with this watch (Gentleman Powermatic 80) which I’ve had for about a month. However, despite wearing it all day, it has stopped overnight three times during that period. Could you explain about the 80-hour power reserve as mine does not always last the 8 hours of not wearing it overnight.
This isn’t normal and clearly shows a malfunction in the movement. Our suggestion would be to bring it to a service centre or the dealer where you bought it, since it should be under warranty
Thanks I am on the point of doing just that. I wondered if it has to build up its power reserve since it had been dormant in the shop window for who knows how long. It keeps perfect time otherwise.
@@stevemiller7271 well, even an automatic watch needs to be wound manually first, and then the rotations of oscillating weight on the back will build up more energy. One test you could do is to wind the movement (turning the crown about 15-20 times in the first position - should be explained in the manual) and then to wear the watch for an entire day. Then you’ll see after a night of standing still if it runs or not… otherwise, warranty!
Do you think this watch is too small for an 8" wrist? What do you think of the Tissot gent XL classic (42mm) and swissmatic (43mm)? I like the dial finish much more on this powermatic, but id love any recommendations on similar watches in bigger dial sizes.
It's impossible for us to determine if a watch is too small or too big from behind a keyboard. And wristsize isn't the only factor, as the shape of one's wrist also matters, and so does the construction of the watch case. A 40mm watch with a flat caseback wears very different from a 40mm watch with a bowl-shaped caseback for instance. So best advice is to find a authorized dealer or brand-boutique and try it on in person. Live it always looks and feels different from what you might THINK the watch will wear like based on pure specs and images.
@@williamtse4462 in my opinion wrist size is not the only parameter.. one should take into consideration palm size as well. I own several 40mm watches such as the tissot gentleman, the tissot visodate, seiko srpe51, the gentleman is definitely the largest one and looks like a 42mm. I have a 16.5cm size wrist. The gentleman would be the perfect watch if it had been of a diameter 38mm and lug width 20mm. I really hope they issue a smaller size. Also the lug to lug is 48mm. That is also quite long. It should have been around 45mm. But hey, this watch sells like cupcakes, i am sure they know their stuff better than i do :)
I don't think so! Why should they not tell it on their homepage? They only speak about glas, which probably means some mineral-glas, while they we're speaking about sapphire-glas for the top.
Hello everyone, I bought a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 two days ago. Accidentally, I changed the date window at 00:30 approx. I'm really worried I may have damaged the movement. I've noticed the date changes around 90 seconds before midnight, and a few minutes before that the day sinks a tiny bit on the window. Moreover, the watch is running a little bit under 3 seconds a day. I don't know if the watch is undamaged or not. Thank you in advance for your answers.
Modern movements can take a bit of "abuse" like this but it is best to avoid it if possible. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as it's quite common for movements to start changing days and dates a bit before midnight. The best advice is to keep an eye out for it in the coming days/weeks and see if gets worse or not. If not, you're probably fine and don't need to worry about it any further.
@@Monochrome-watches Thank you so much for your reply. I think you're absolutely right. The watch is running slow around a second per day. Also, the date window changes very close to midnight every time. I believe I just freaked out when accidentally quick changed the date at the wrong time. The good part is that I'm super careful about it after that mistake. 😂
Really like the look/specs on this watch...Similar to the Vaer A3 Atlas I've seen recently. Would appreciate any comparisons between the two as I'm deciding on one or the other, thanks!
Well, that is a personal choice in the end and we cannot help you. One thing to note though, is that the green only comes with the cross hair design on the dial and the blue comes with or without. Maybe that helps in making a decision?
I really wanted to love this watch but the finishing is just not there . The bracelet feels cheap and noisy it's a fingerprint magnet . The finishing is all high glossy polished giving it a cheap china watch mass produced look . On top of it all don't forget there's a silicon spring in the movement. For 1000 $ there's much much better choices for the same look . If your sold on tissot then the PRX is a better choice but again the let's see with time if the powematic movement will be reliable.
For you maybe... not for all of us though. I'd like to wear a Junghans Max Bill 34mm hand wind, but it's too small for "ME", that doesn't make it to small for everyone though. Just work on getting in wear you fit in and keep it moving, life is too good bro.
@@charlesbr7684 have you tried on a 34mm. I'm not a small guy but my Timex Marlin is elegant. I find it difficult not to laugh at people with clown sized watches

Thinking to buy either this or Seiko Presage Cocktail blue

Great video on the Tissot.
Liked and Sub'd.
Thank you very much!
don’t know if it’s worth it over the quartz…
Movements are just as important to me as the design. I’d rather have an ugly automatic than a pretty quartz watch
What wrist size does the person wearing the watch in the video have? I’m trying to gauge how big or small the watch would look on me

Next on my list 🔥
A pity they don't have a rose gold/steel bracelet and rose gold bezel version

So Oyster case and bracelet with Overseas hands and date :-)

How can I check if my Tissot watch is Authentic?
Bring it into a dealer most likely...

@2:23 What means 3 Hertz movement? Only 3 beats per second? 😳
3Hz means 21,600 vibrations/hours so 6 beats per seconds. 1Hz corresponds to 2 semi-oscillations or beats
@@Monochrome-watches I was thinking at the over 30.000 beats per second on a quartz movement, therefore this sounded unreasonable to me.

No it has a classic push-pull crown
