@@geappliances I still own this relic of a machine but it has been actinig up over the last 6 months. It seems to never want to do the final spin. I usually pull the plug then ground the plug against a water pipe while holding the button for 3 seconds then plug it back in. It normally will do the spin cycle afterwards but the next load it fails. I'll try this for s&g's when I get home.

It works!!!! My washer is 21 years old and stopped with water in the bottom which I only noticed once I slopped water across my feet. I went to spin only and it drained but wouldn't spin. I bypassed my overworked husband, who happened to finally fall asleep, and went to RUclips, followed these instructions from a similar video and it worked! So relieved!!!

I’ve had a washer in my wash room for 3 years that would not spin at all. I would go wash every week. I woke up this morning and said I would go buy a new washer. Something told me to stop and look up my issue I came across this video and I tried it. Exactly how the video says. And it worked!!!!! It took me 3 years to simply google my issue. Do you know how happy I was this morning!! Thank you! Saved me money and time.

Washer stopped spinning, opened it up to find out that the belt had broken. Replaced the belt and started the washer again, no agitation or spinning. Stepped out to go shop for a new one when on my way to the store a friend sent me this video. Turned back around, got home , followed the instructions in the video and the washer started spinning again!! Thank you GE for saving me $$ and now time to buy some steak for my friend.

I had just about given-up after watching SEVERAL videos and reading tons od forums on washing machine repairs with NO LUCK at all. I said a prayer (literally) over my machine, came back to watch more videos, and this was the next video on my monitor. I just knew this was going to work! I had already destroyed the door switch trying to "fix" my machine (Lol), so I installed a toggle switch and just flipped it from off to on 6 times. IT WORKS, AGAIN! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! And I thank God too!

I have now decided to look this video up in case it happens to me again and to tape a note on the washing machine. Thank you, for this very easy solution to fixing this problem. Hi, JJBAZZI. We’re happy to help. Please keep in mind, once you start lifting and lowering the lid, you must complete the cycle 6 times within 12 seconds. Be sure the lid is fully closed each time. When trying a new cycle, try resetting the water level to a different selection, ensure the speed selector switch is correctly positioned, and check the magnet or lid switch. If your symptoms persist, service may be needed. Appointments may be scheduled on our GE Appliances website. We hope our tips are helpful to you!

I literally just finished doing this for my Frigidaire washing machine. To my surprise it worked. I followed it step by step. Though instead of lifting and closing the lid 6 times I did it 10 times. Either way it worked flawlessly. I still have a deep freezer, a 55' TV and my dryer that I purchased in 2000 that's still running strong after moving from NYC to SC. Thank you much GE your products are AWESOME just as well as this advice!!!

This video is GREAT!!! I've tried many times to reset. It was not successful in the beginning. Then I read all those successful comments. That gave me confidence.
I had lifted the lid many times and felt the magnet does not strong enough to get reset. So I removed the magnet from the lid and put it together with the other magnet. It did not turn at all in the 1st or 2nd round then I move the magnet left, right, front and back many times. I can see it makes clockwise turn then counter clockwise turn. At least it can turn, I feel so good. Maybe 4 or 5 times later, it can fully spin. It's really really good. Thanks GE Appliances, you really make my day.

Hi - I'm afraid we don't have this video in Spanish but here are the written instructions - you can copy these and put in a translator app:
Unplug the washer for 1 minute
Plug the washer back in and lift and lower the lid 6 times within a 12 second period.
You have 30 seconds to start lifting and lowering the lid.
The lid must be raised a minimum of 2"
Make sure you close the lid completely each time.
The motor has now been reset and is ready for you to start a cycle.
      I hope this helps -CC

After months of diagnosing, part swapping, and talking to GE I found the perfect repair: I swallowed my initial purchase loss of $550 plus $200 in repair parts to no avail and threw this POS in the trash.
Never again GE. I’m done with everything you sell. This unit was four years old purchased new and taken care of. Done.

    • @jamiemink3379
      @jamiemink3379 6 лет назад

GE Appliances I am unsure what else can be done. I watched numerous videos about this unit, attempted repairs myself. I am a mechanical engineer and have repaired many appliances over the years. However, this unit baffled me as the failure mode was not constant, but guaranteed 25% of the time, wasting much water and energy. I contacted GE, they said I needed to contact an area service technician. When I tried, I was informed that none exist within metro Detroit. How can that be??? I was quite simply blown off then told I may need to take my unit to a repair person. Unreal. And like I said, already being $700 deep in a still problematic unit I cut my losses. Not sure what GE thinks can be done, I’d be curious to know. Perhaps a buyback?

Thanks for this video! I have been battling this for months....wondering each time if it will work, or if i will have to keep hand wringing my laundry when the machine stops right before the spin cycle. I very much appreciate you posting this.

    1. Unplug the washing machine for approx 1 minute and plug it back in.
    2. You have 30 seconds to lift and close the lid 6 within 12 seconds ( you only need to lift the lid >2 inches )
    3. Run a small load without placing clothes in the unit and if it fills and starts agitating you may start placing clothes in the washing machine during this small load cycle.
    4. if it doesn't agitate during that small load run call for service. Also if this happends again you should call for service.
    5. your welcome

    Hello Jimmy xu,
Model number WHSB8000B0WW does not have a hydrowave wash system. This model has multiple wash/spin cycles with an electronic touch control. If model WHSB8000B0WW will not operate the electronics may need to be reset. Unplug the washer, after 2 minutes plug it back in and press start. Also, make sure the lid closed. A safety feature on this model prevents agitation and spinning when the lid is up. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for checking with us! Alison with GE

My old GE washer did not have a computer that caused my washer to fail after just a few years and it lasted 25 years. It seems really stupid of GE to put a computer in the washer at all... oh wait... it is not stupid, It would appear that GE expected the washer to break, that is why they put this secret back door code in the washer that allows anyone who knows it to unlock the motor and use the equipment they bought. It reminds me of the "up up down down left right left right B A Start" of the old Nintendo cheat codes. Those who knew them could get unlimited lives. Those who didn't were just out of luck. If GE really wanted their customers to have a reset option why not just put a big red "RESET" button on the front of the machine???

Hi metalmorticia1, this is Jill with GE. I regret your inconvenience and I am happy to help. Please try the following tips:
~Check to see if the lid switch magnet is still in place. There should be a plastic coated magnet, fastened with two screws, in the top right side of the open lid.
~Check the speed selector switch to make sure it is pointing at the speed and not stuck in the middle.
~Try resetting the water level up or down to ensure the water level control switch is not sticking.

    This actually works... I’m speechless.
I have a Kenmore Series 300. I was washing a big bulk of laundry and suddenly the machine stop (maybe because of the unbalanced load, my idiot self thought the washer could power through.)I would try to restart the cycle but the lid would be locked for a ungodly amount of time before releasing and every start of a new cycle the machine would stop after 3 second while making a clicking sound. The green light would blink but I could not get it it to initiate again.
I tried this method once and the washer was working again. Who would have thought about this motor reset is beyond me. I’m glad I can wash again.

  • @chipmalee
    @chipmalee 9 лет назад +8

    1. Power down the unit by unplugging the washer from the outlet.
    2. Wait approximately 1 minute and plug the washer back into the outlet.
    3. You now have 30 seconds after the unit is powered up to lift and lower the lid 6 times.
Once you start lifting and lowering the lid, you must complete the cycle 6 times within 12 seconds.

This actually works and very helpful to reset the motor but one additional note for the audience; in my case had to remove stuck cloth in the drain pump. Just remove the drain tube attached to the pump to check if there is anything stuck. Now it works 💪 Thanks for the help fellow commentators and GE!
