What an amazing catch! so happy you guys were able to-do this, and respectfully capture the quarry then document it and let it go about its life. it looks so shark like with a trunk like that.
Started fishing sturgeon 50 or 60 years ago on the Lower Columbia. We used smelt for bait back then . Of course in those days I smelt Could wai weigh as much as a coho salmon. Like they say big bait big fish. Weld a couple hay hooks together And bend the shank to make a loop. In those days the sturgeon were so big we had to use a logging chain for leader Sometimes we use 18 or 20 pound frozen turkey for bait. Hit a elk on the way to the boat Hit a elk on the way to the boat ramp and we used that for bait We'd run out to about 200' of water in a skiff, drop the bait then run the line back to shore where we had to hook the line up to a small ford tractor. You get 1,000 £1,200 sturgeon on there and you need a tractor to yard em in. My brother woody Hooked into a 25 footer that was Wide as a cow. We lost more than one tractor that way. But now and then we would land 1 without anybody dying But we usually did catch and release for anything over 15 or 18 feet. Once they hit eight or nine hundred pounds you had sort of a kindred spirit with them. Show we would carve our name and the date Back Of their heads and let go. We caught one 2200 pounder that was big as a Winnibego with Mark Twains name on it. Well...those were the days. The last 1 we were able to get on dry land was big enough to feed the entire town of Clatskanie. (Bout 40 mile east of Astoria.)
I think i would've cried to see this beautiful giant even a hug, kiss and congratulations before letting her go. Just absolutely amazing experience. So glad yall were able to film it for the world to see.

Damn, dude's gonna get a lot of business from this one. Nice catch man
Thank you!!!
These things really do look prehistoric. Awesome catch, fellas!
I just want to know if anyone has ever gone swimming involuntarily because of one of these Sturgeon 😂
Years ago while fishing with my dad at the confluence of the feather and Sacramento rivers we witnessed a 12 foot boat get pulled over and capsized by a sea lion that attempted to steal a 15 pound striped bass from a stringer tied to the boat it was crazy

If Ty’s video starts with the fish it ends with and not any warm up fish, it is an absolute banger no doubt about it
Such a Magnificent Fish, it took you guys, and itself to the limits of endurance, it was epic!
That is a fish of a lifetime. Thank you for sharing guys. I would love to experience the Columbia River and experience a fishing trip of a Lifetime…tight line Guys & Gals
Absolutely incredible fish! You guys are amazing! Praise the Lord for such an exquisitely designed, armor-plated, giant of the deep freshwater!
its not the lord who created it.
Delusional crap.
Of course in those days I smelt Could wai
weigh as much as a coho salmon.
This guy, you are legend, keep up the great work
Thank you for watching!!
So glad to see that fish released. Keep the breeding stock alive.
That's one perfect specimen right there! One beautiful Sturgeon!!
What a awesome catch❤
The release was awesome , I reckon she swam by as if to thank you . Great stuff , Mother Nature at its best .
Thank you very much!!
I think i would've cried to see this beautiful giant even a hug, kiss and congratulations before letting her go. Just absolutely amazing experience. So glad yall were able to film it for the world to see.
What a beauty. So glad you guys released it back. That’s a gentle giant of a fish. I wonder what kind of diet it’s on to get that big.
The fact you let it swim away, you get my respect, unlike a lot of these other fisherman like blacktip or what ever he is called, no respect for the animals he catches it's so obvious where as people like you do,
Good man ❤
Thank you very much 🙏
Its the law. You have to release this size of sturgeon.
What are you talking about man. Blacktip mainly saltwater fishes to begin with, and saltwater fisherman are a lot more focused on bringing home dinner. You have no understanding of fishing
@@MrJustin0919 lol what, no understanding? 😝 no idea who your talking to mate,
3rd generation professional fisherman and I don't no what I'm talking about, the fact he dishes for Goliath grouper at the size you can't eat because they would taste disgusting yet are killed just for his views on his channel? Ok buddy I no nothing about fishing. You have no idea what I'm
Even talking about judging by your comment so keep scrolling on by you troll.
That thing is an absolute unit. Well done gentleman. Great teamwork.
Love the catch and release guys. Heroes for the more than human creatures.
Excellent job guys👊🏻 Most rewarding part was watching that baby swim home😉👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
You know you’re fishing for the giants when you use a deep sea fishing rod in a river…😮
Wow!! That was exhilarating! You guys put in major work to pull that beast up. Great, great teamwork fellaz!
...and when I got home I told them it was 'this big' but they didn't believe... amazing fish story that will go unequalled for so long... Cheers guys for the one you let away... not sure what you can say now other than GOAT!
Anyone in 2024?
grew up in Washington and have gone Sturgeon fishing... never caught anything over 150lbs beautiful fish and great job.
I love the way these guys let the fish go after they’ve caught it. The excitement they get from catching the fish is infectious.😂😂😂
Thanks for the release! An ancient gem.
That is my backdoor you are fishing in :) Glad you had a great time!
Fantastic fishing, Man that Sturgeon is Humongous.
