11:37 that was cruel
Mission accomplished
forced to dance forever being the villain's punishment has always disturbed me even as a kid bc even after she dies her body will continue to dance for eternity
Ok well now I see that, that is the most disturbing spell she could have cast tbh now
She deserves to be free from the spell and tell her trauma to many conferences
It's also a very fae like curse, so the cruelty makes sense
Wasn't it confirmed or something that they died of starvation or is that just a theory
I read the Red Shoes in an anthology once as a kid and proceeded to skip over the story every time I picked up the book for exactly this reason. It's such an awful fate.
the older movies feel like there's more heart in them because they actually hired real ballerinas to reference and the music scores are SO MUCH BETTER
yess especially the 12 dancing princesses theme
Yes! And the new ones already feel dated and pandering with the overuse of iPhones and pop music. There’s barely any escapism either. Unless you count Barbies family being rich lol
YES! Like the older movies feel...timeless. Doesn't matter whether you watching them in 2007 or 2024, it feels like you're WITH the characters as they're living in medieval castles, wearing (concept) designed with care and detailed dresses and going on adventures with them.
Princess Charm School is a decent blend of the past and present, since whatever's modern and post 2010s is not overused to death, but it's also the last of the good ones. Sure there's a decent/passable movie/sequel here and there, but dude, that magic is gone.
Life in a Dreamhouse is kooky energy and I LIVE FOR IT (same for the recent Mickey Mouse Shorts, the CHAOS ✨️), but the vlog version where Barbie has a perfect life with a perfect family and friend group and the occasional Karen neighbour problem, are we seriously suppose to relate to that and suddenly find Barbie down to earth and "one of us"?
Nah, screw relatability for Barbie's case, let the girl be proud to be have an closet room full of sparkes and frills and have her extra as heck dreamhouse with zero shame 😂
@@jessoliveiro8975 yes! Like she’s never gonna be relatable. She’s super rich, with a ton of jobs, and even if we just count the newer stuff, she goes to a super fancy school, she gets a ton of unrealistic opportunities, and she can afford both the time and money to travel often. If anything, placing her in the modern times makes her LESS relatable because we have a standard to compare her to. Like how do we know we wouldn’t do the same if we were a princess in a fantasy world, but this is now our world so we know how things should work.
@@skitterly Let's be honest, who in their right mind thought Barbie herself could be relatable and slap her into our current era? Maybe to one sort of group, but to the majority, it's laughable that it's basically coming off as a try-hard "I'm just like you but not really" attempt. Plus, isn't Barbie from the vlogs coming off as Mattel's version of Mickey (not counting Disney 100 and the shorts) as a whole - resourceful and nice, a good role model, but with ZERO personality? And having a BUNCH of opportunities just fall into their lap? A complete snooze-fest compared to what you said, thinking "well if I were in a fantasy kingdom and in the princess mc's shoes, what will I do?"
And timelessness vs outdatedness issue aside, the depth of the problems and solutions from the older films and the recent material has gotten so weak. We went from defeating villians (who WILL end the mc, zero hesitation) with delivering insane and well-earned punishments, while there's a clear personality evolution of the mc from Act 1 to Act 3, to "ah well we gotta deal with this Karen character because she ruined our fun!" and the mc is just...stagnant throughout the story. They barely pick up on anything, they stay the same solely because "she's right and the baddie's wrong, why should she change?"
The well's utterly dry in Barbieland and it shows.
Welchy & classic barbie movies. name a better duo, i'll wait
xDD
Welchy's eyes
Welchy and his blonde hair
“JUST SHOES?!” 😳 🤯
I actually think it's perfect that Rowena has to dance forever. Firstly, Genevieve used her fan, so she basically beat Rowena with her own weapons (since Rowena wanted them to learn how to use a fan) and secondly, Rowena hates dancing and forbid the princesses to do it.
Yeah but if you think about it, it's juste an horrible way to die. Dancing to death is juste creepy for a barbie villain
Hallo Sailor Cat! 🙋♀️
@@paulinecharlat2982 Yeah, it is horrible. But from the writers' perspective it's pretty clever.
Bro just watched all of Barbie movies based on ballets. I think the last good Barbie movie was probably Princess Charm School or Fashion Fairy Tale. I think that if Welchy watched Princess and the Pauper he would change his mind on Rothbart being the best villain. Preminger is fr iconic
Rothbart will never be topped
@@Welchy Wait for it 😁
@@WelchyPreminger is defo the best villain
@@Welchy just you wait
@@Welchy Where Rothbart is a vibe, Preminger is a whole mood.
Welchy and Rival need to watch Princess and the pauper together 😊
Rival hasn’t made a video in forever
YES!!!
I miss Rival
@@simonsaysoliviapretty sure he quit youtube :/
@@ingieigni I think so too
I can't believe Welchy still hasn't watched arguably the greatest of the old Barbie movies, The Princess and The Pauper
Yasssss
Exactly @Welchy HAS TO WATCH THIS
Ngl now as an adult this King is a dilf 😂
😂😂😂
Yeah I agree 😆
What is a dilf?
@@carolinamansur113 hot daddy
Not only is this one of my many favorite OG Barbie movies, but they had a real ballerina dance for this. Maria Kowroski, I think she also danced for Barbie in The Nutcracker -- absolutely graceful, not to mention the music and the story; you can never have enough of OG Barbie movies
She also danced for Barbie of Swan Lake
in hindsight all those 2000s barbie movies look like ps2 cutscenes
😂😂
I kinda wanna see Welchy doing a Let's Play of the Barbie PC games and watch him slowly losing his sanity.
🤔🤔
Oh I'd love that!
Great idea! I'd love to see him help Barbie being a Girl Boss in the "Working Woman" game from 1999 lol
YES! YES! YES!
PLEASE that cat level in 12 Dancing Princesses was BRUTAL as a kid 😭
Barbie movies with Welchy are pure serotonin. Please keep doing these (so long as you enjoy it too)!
Ahh thanks 🙏🏼
"Cousin?!?!?!? You into incest?" Well, this is a royal family that we're talking about...
The thing I love about old Barbie movies is that, while the shortcuts (such as recolouring character models) are noticeable as an adult, my eyes have also been opened to the passion that was put into these projects. They used beautiful mo-cap for the dancing and weren't afraid to give some of the villains MORBID fates. I didn't own the rainbow Fairytopia movie, but I heard that someone straight-up disintegrates. Even as a kid, I appreciated when movies didn't hold my hand and depicted scary-but-real consequences.
TLDR: old Barbie movies are my favourite 'cause passion, aging poorly, and death
YESS ANOTHER BARBIE MOVIE!!!, you should check out "Barbie a fashion fairytale" it focuses more on Barbie and Kens relationship and the comedy is on point so gladdd you posted 💖💖💖💖💖
Ahah it’s no problem :))
Yesss fashion fairytale is sooo good!!!
19:19 "No!!! You actually have relevance?!" Brutal but true XDD
😭😭
"News flash! She walked in her own room" That parrot was hilarious! you should watch Princess and the Pauper it's a lot of peoples' favorite Barbie movie, including me!
Did anyone else have the 12 dancing princesses mat that had the stones and played the song??? 😫😫😫 a childhood staple
Yess new Barbie reaction I was literally staring at my notifications waiting for Welchy to post😭
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@Welchy I definitely did!🤎
this was my favorite Barbie movie when i was a kid, i wanted to be a ballerina because of it. Me and my friends would draw 12 circles in the ground and imitate the portal dance, and everyone wanted to be Genevieve to marry Derek. We also discussed all the thing we wanted to do with the magic wishing flowers. Ah, good times, what a nostalgic feeling.
I never got to have ballet classes bc they were expensive and now i can't even stretch my leg.
K, but why do the 12 PRINCESSESS not have individual rooms? Why are all 12 of them sharing the same room? They live in a CASTLE! They are ROYALTY!
They seem to have what
One servant? Two if we count Desmond who is with Rowena, he probably has his own room
So they have room in the castle
If the king's cousin and especially her servant both have individual room, the TWELVE sisters should have theirs too, either individual or at least in groups of three or four
But it wouldn’t work with the story which is the more important thing
They are apparently all in the same room in the original fairytale as well, which makes sense
"you know, because... capitalism" what a line
I’m kinda shocked that some of the dialogue in this movie is so familiar? Like i haven’t watched it in years, the nostalgia is crazy
Yayyy, one of the Barbie movies I remember liking a lot as a child ❤
I still can’t get past the fact that it took me so long to realise that the voice actress for the villain was also the mom from home alone 😂
WHAT
KEVIN
Looking back on it, Derek and the parrot definitely carried the movie lol
I love how honest your reactions are 😂
You should watch 'The Princess and The Pauper' next
This was one of my favorites as a kid haha, I still prefer watching Barbie and the Magic of the Pegasus tho, its definitely my top fav.
Thanks for uploading today I was getting bored!
They already reacted to that
That movie has probably the funniest relatioship dynamic of all the barbie movies I've seen. The male mc is so funny
Hope ya liked it! :D
@@Welchy definitely did 🙌
6:05 surprisingly the song happy birthday isn’t used in most movies bc of copyright. It doesn’t make sense but that’s what I’ve heard.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Interesting
2:15 I was drinking juice at this point and very nearly spat it out everywhere. Welchy, please stop making me want to laugh when I'm drinking.
My apologies 🤣
I remember one Christmas i got all the 12 dancing princesses, the ken doll, and the carriage. Favorite Christmas ever.
I NEED you to experience the Fairytopia series. Aloha from Hawaii! 🌺
Alohaaa!
I have a fan theory that Genevieve in this movie is Annalise's mother in the Princess and the Pauper movie.
I hope it will be "Barbie - Princess Charm School" or "Barbie in a christmas carol" next time. ❤
princess charm school is so good. also just Portia existing as a side character is fantastic
The parrot is the best character in that movie xD
Also the queen's butler(?) totally had the hots for her xD
Right!
I soooooo thought the first man here was Preminger because of his face 💀 You neeeeed to watch Princess and the Pauper!! Just for his villain banger, if anything!! :}
The worst part of how she rearranged the bedroom is that the beds are in the MIDDLE OF THE ROOM now
Everyone knows you tempt death by not having your bed against at least one wall 🤣
Yesssss. Thank you for another Barbie commentary! You are truly my comfort youtuber:)
Aww thank you!
It’s been months since you seen classic Barbie!🎉🎉🎉
I knowww! :(
@@Welchy If you do another classic Barbie move, please let it be Princess and the Pauper. It's so good! Love your videos
I will never let go of the fact that Derrick is one of the few, if not, ONLY Ken in the Barbie Cinematic Universe to have been implied to have actually killed -sorry, unalived someone.
If anything because it’s funny and also how quickly it was just glossed over.
Felix(the parrot): I wouldn’t want to make him angry. The last time someone refused my master, the fool was never heard from again.
Derrick: That’s not true!
Felix: Oh right. They did find his shoe.
Derrick: ….So-
And they just go on like NOTHING happened. Like sir, wdym they only found his shoe?! Where did you hide the rest of the body Derrick?
My biggest question for this movie has always been “where is their castle staff??” They have one butler /one/, no other guards, maids, cooks, nothing.
I LOVE this movie!!! It’s my 2nd fav Barbie movie! Brings back so many good memories watching this growing up. I remember I’d would always dance along will watching it. Ballet is one of my favorite ways to dance. Love watching your Barbie reactions! Love the videos! You do an amazing job!
what’s the first?? And thank yaaa bri :DD
@@Welchy Barbie princess and the pauper is my #1 fav 😁
2:28 Jamaican is crazy… more like an Indian accent😭
You cant tell me they never stepped on that one flower before💀
RIGHT 😂😂
Cracking up at him using the shoe polish thing because actually, it works the same way as figuring out a code by how much oil from a person's finger has been left behind. The more there is, the earlier in the sequence it was (obviously assuming it was only done with one finger)
14:38 Aaaaaand the parrot is the same one as Barbie The Island Princess with the only exception that he doesn't talk 😂😂😂
Parrot is the best
Oh my GOSH this made me crack up so much. Always great commentary man, hope we can see you and your sister for the next one!
Glad you enjoyed! :D
7:55 welchy has never heard of ballet before
xD
„NO! YOU ACTUALLY HAVE RELEVANCE“
was ragin 😂😭
The magical sparkles was like the flower's pollen or whatever so it being blown back at her and it transferring to the guy makes sense
MY CHILDHOOD ❤ my cousin and I would always watch this at our late nana’s house when we were little! Good times 👏🏼
"Alright Umbrellas *smacks cheeks*"......Is that a thing we do now?...is that like our Salute??
I mean I was just being my weird af self but it could be a thing if people want 🤔
@@Welchy Its a thing now, you've made it a thing, Ya gotta do it at the start of every video now Sir XD
I don’t see a video of you reacting to Barbie Princess and the Pauper and that’s my favorite one :( I think it’s the best one personally
I feel like you would like Barbie the island princess, well minus tika
I hate that elephant 😡😤 she’s so annoying (it’s only below my hatred for shiver) 🤣
@@heathern8043 😂😂😂
Tika infuriates me so much🤣🤣🤣🤣
NOBODY likes that damn elephant
Princess and the pauperrrrr
Yasssss
this really is my favorite of all the Barbie movies! the music is so nostalgic to me
16:50 there were so many emotions from this point onward 💀 i was cacklin'
I love seeing that you posted, it makes my day sm better!!
Aww appreciate that a lot
@@Welchy when you said there was no homeless children I actually snorted
The music really is great in this movie. I forgot the plot wasn’t as great in this one. I highly recommend Island Princess, it had one of the best duets and some crazy moments you’d probably appreciate
WELCHY WELCHY WELCHYYYYYYYYY. The intro melody of this movie along Rapunzel and Swan Lake is pure chefs kiss 🤌🏻💖
YEAHH WELCHY POST!!!! GET YOUR POPCORN GUYS!!!!
😝😝
No but you absolutely need to watch Barbie in the Pink Shoes purely for the comedic relief it will bring
4:03 * laughs in black british *
Just you wait till you get to island princess sir...
Oh no 😬
@@Welchy it's not bad lmao just very interesting that a monarch having a monkey is a reoccurring thing
You’ve gotta find Princess and the Pauper! SOOO GOOD
I hope sometime you get to see the masterpiece that is Barbie princess charm school
Well aren’t you in luck 😂
Rowena is so cool ,classy and scary ! Very good villain
The king is so young 😂❤ he look like his late 30s or early 40s
The music for this is so nostalgic for me, it's beautiful 😍
This is my favorite Barbie movie, alongside Barbie Mariposa (which i highly recommend)
not me SCREAMING and pulling over at welchy’s commentary 😆
not welchy coming up with better plot lines than the actual movie 🤣
love that 🤣🤣
0:50 "fucken look at it, it's so perfect. Everyone's clapped, everyone's blurry. This is cinema"
-gotta say the first minute of this video alone was brilliant, a lot of good lines, but that's gotta be my favorite XD
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE OMG THE GAME THAT CAME WITH IT WAS MY LIFE!
This was my favourite Barbie movie growing up
Princess & The pauper has to be done next hands down best barbie movie!
you should watch barbie in the pink shoes!!! it's super underrated
This was probably my #1 Barbie movie growing up, I absolutely loved it!! I’m glad you reacted to it! You should definitely react to Barbie as the Island Princess next!!
as a Dutch person i have to freaky out about the fact that the serie Ferry is in the background. truly an amazing Dutch+Belgium serie. a part of the Dutch Undercover series. really worth a watch (it probably had English subtitle, idk if it has a English audio option because i just watched it in Dutch/Belgium) (the order of the series is: undercover -> ferry the movie -> ferry the serie)
i’m literally 21 and still watch these films , i’m glad someone thinks the same things i do while i watch😭😂
As always, your reaction is the best *chef kiss*
And You're the best! 😊
Not you going from "aW" and "to be fair that's very romantic" at 16:51 to immediate and utter confusion at 16:58 and 17:06 🤣🤣
This is my most FAVORITE Barbie movie. The story itself is based on the 12 Dancing Princesses (aka the Worn Out Dancing Slippers) from the Brothers Grimm! It's a German story about princesses wearing out their dancing shoes each night and the king setting up a contest, any man who discovers where they go gets to marry one of his daughters. Many tried, many failed (they were only given 3 days to figure it out). A soldier returning from war--who helped an old woman on the way, in return she warned him of drugged wine to make him sleep and gave him an invisibility cloak--ended up figuring out that they were going to a magical world and dancing with 12 princes every night (in some versions they were forced to dance with the princes or cursed to). In the story's version he marries the oldest daughter (so not Genevieve lol)
I've read some really good retllings of this story!!
am i losing it or does this man have heterochromia? the only person i’ve seen with it is my mum!
He does
This is a banger of a Barbie movie. The music is amazing!!
You should watch Barbie as the princess and the pauper, the villain is so sassy😂
I love that you reacted to my whole childhood, I'm just on a binge rn
YESSS. MORE BARBIE MOVIES!! I love your Barbie content so much!!
Please watch princess and the pauper - its unironically the best one and you will LOVE the villain Preminger 😂
I need you to watch Barbie as island princess and hate that elephant as much as I do
This is one of my favorite Barbie movies. Thank you! 😊💖
No problem 😊
You should watch Barbie Island Princess.
There's a character named Tica, who I just know you would love...
1:26 Ya, I couldn't read it either, dude
Nice to know I’m not alone
He NEEDS to do Barbie and the pink shoes💀
there is nothing better than welchy watching Barbie movies. 😁 waited for this for so long.. I totally forgot about the parrot. This was pure gold. 😂
Hope you enjoyed it!
11:37 I WAS ABOUT TO SLEEP MAN!!!
This one is one of my faves! 🙌
Welchy we NEED a Barbie Princess vs the Pauper reaction 🙏 you’d love Preminger (the villain)!!!!!
I think the "learning how to use the fan" thing was because there's certain etiquette when using a hand fan (mostly revolving around relationship statuses). Holding it a certain way was like saying "looking for a suitor", or "married", looking for a man to dance with". So that might of been what she was trying to teach them
I have 3 sisters. Imagine sharing a room with 11 girls for years…
this was so funny u should check out barbie as the princess and the pauper and barbie as the island princess
This is my first video from this channel and I did not expect the commentary to be that funny😂😂so I’m gonna watch the rest of the reactions🤣
This was awesome! Thank you Welchy!
Thanks for watching!! :)
