It would have been so easy for them to write Prince Edward as a toxic Gaston-type and Nancy as a jealous shrew. I'm so happy that they were both written as likable and sympathetic, and they got their happily-ever-after too.
Honestly, Nancy accepting that Robert had fallen in love with Giselle with that "Kiss her Robert" line hits me everytime. Like, she surely noticed that as much as the both of them wanted a relationship, Nancy wished for a prince while Robert was still broken from his other relationship. So glad they both got their happy endings lol
I think Robert’s “other” relationship is probably his wife whom he mentions in the Italian restaurant. I imagine she only married him for his family’s money, then she left him just after both of Robert’s parents died suddenly, to the point where she wasn’t even at their funeral. I even imagine she referred to Morgan (Robert’s daughter) as an “accident”, which would imply that she didn’t want her or any child to begin with. This would emotionally devastate Robert so much that he built up walls around him until Giselle knocked them down.
The point of the fairy tale stereotypes were on purpose. They were making fun of their own movies. We had Disney Cameos like the voice of Ariel the receptionist. Her music played in the background, also voice of Belle on the TV drama, with music from Beauty and The Beast playing. And other little things

the fact that by the end Giselle became a slightly more practical and settled person, and Nancy (the "practical" girlfriend) did a super impulsive thing and ran off with the prince. she obviously was hiding a more romantic side from her uber practical but lovable single dad boyfriend. I can't wait to see what the second movie is like.
It was only today when I found out there will be a sequel. My guess would be that their child finds the whole live at first sight and marrying the moment they met is dumb and wants something more real. Maybe she's supposed to find a husband and she keeps refusing. Making things seem less enchanting.
There are actually some deleted scenes from the movie that give a bit of perspective concerning Nancy's character; in the scenes it is revealed that she is in fact a hopeless romantic with a fairy tale complex. She even has a few lines where she fantasizes about marrying a prince charming or something. Honestly, in my opinion, it would have been much better if those scenes had been kept in the final footage; it would have given a better picture to understand Nancy's motives at the end of the movie, for example. "I'm angry"-moment is so iconic, because she has never experienced that before - she has had such a positive and naive "goodness wins in the end"-point of view of the world and fairytale-like happy and bubbly personality that she doesn't know what anger is or why anyone would be angry. I love as well that when you watch it back you realise that the model Giselle makes at the beginning is wearing the outfit Robert wears to the ball. So it was meant to be all along
Some random facts for this movie: •Robert's receptionist is played by Jodie Benson who is the original voice of Ariel in _The Little Mermaid_ . And if you listen carefully, when she's on camera you can hear "Part of Your World" in the background. • The old men dancers in the "How Does She Know" music number were the original chimney sweep dancers from _Mary Poppins_ • The woman actress in the Romcom on the television in the motel was Paige O'Hara who was the original actress for Belle in _Beauty and the Beast_ • The single mom in the apartments was actress Irene Bedard who was Pocahontas in _Pocahontas_
Because you missed it: Morgan's birth mother left her and Robert when Morgan was just a year old; her and Robert possibly met when he was in law school and after he graduated, they got married and she was pregnant with Morgan at the time. Even after Robert got a job as a divorce lawyer and she was a stay-at-home mom, this probably impacted her mental health in a negative way and she couldn't just take it anymore: So a short time after Morgan's first birthday, she left leaving Robert divorce papers and him full custody of Morgan.
Over the years I’ve really grown to appreciate Nathaniel’s arc. I love how much he grows as a character, and his happy ending as a successful writer, with the song lyric “you even might wind up being glad to be you” is really uplifting.
The final, lightning-struck battle is a homage to the battles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.
I remember when this movie came out, there was a Junior novelization that explained that Giselle “enchanted” everyone who she came across, hence the whole dance number and how the couple got back together…Oh, and the movie title, of course lol. This is my all time favorite Disney movie, so I’m glad that you enjoyed it!!
I love the lyrics of True Loves Kiss because the characters are in love with the IDEA of love and not each other. They don't care where the kiss comes from, just that they want one - "I've been dreaming of a true loves kiss, and a (miss/prince) that surely comes with this"
As you can probably tell by the comments section, this is a fun movie to re-watch because there are so many Disney Easter eggs hidden throughout the film. I'll throw in another one - Dame Julie Andrews is the narrator of the movie, and she played Mary Poppins as well as the main character Maria von Trapp in "The Sound of Music". A reference to this film is thrown in during "That's How You Know", when Giselle runs up to the camera and spins as she sings, like in the titular song. Although it feels like one, TSoM wasn't a Disney movie, but a 20th Century Fox film... which means that now it does belong to Disney.
When she twirls around at 11:47, that is from The Sound of Music, when Julie Andrews spins around while singing, with the Alps in the background. In this movie, the New York skyline is standing in for the Alps.
Robert is the divorce attorney for a woman with the last name Banks, like the family in Mary Poppins. In a nod to Mary Poppins, Giselle bumps into a woman feeding the birds (tuppence a bag?) and gives her money.
I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience seeing this movie. I got to go see it at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, and they had this whole interactive thing going on at the time, where you could see their costumes, play games, the whole thing.
When my family went it was a packed theater with one of the most expresive audiences Ive ever seen. When the cockraoches camu up the shower drain every father watching made the same sound of disgust and horror, it was hilarious.
9:10 You want to know the best way to date your movie? Shoot it in Times Square, where billboards for obviously dated Broadway productions like "Hairspray" and "The Wedding Singer" will stand out like sore thumbs.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this Easter egg yet (apologies if so) but the newsreader is named Mary Ilene Caselotti, after Mary Costa (original voice of Aurora), Ilene Woods (original voice of Cinderella) and Adriana Caselotti (original voice of Snow White). Edit: OK, I've looked further down and someone has already said it! I thought as much.
I love this movie that is packed full of Disney references. Starting with cast Robert's secretary is played by Jodi Benson who was the voice of Ariel in the Little Mermaid (hence the fish spit out in the cup scene). The old gentleman in the park scene that present flowers to the old ladies only showed a fraction of they're dancing chops in this movie but they really popped off as the chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins. When Prince Edward is knocking on apartment doors in Robert's building the pregnant woman that answers the door and tells him, "You're too late." is Judy Kuhn who did the singing voice for Pocahontas. Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle is the woman of the soap opera couple that Nathaniel watches and starts questioning his choices. (If you listen closely the Beauty and Beast score is playing in the background of the soap opera.) The narrator is the one, the only Julie Andrew's who is a Disney veteran for her role as Mary Poppins and as Queen Clarice in Princess Diaries. And dear Nancy is played by the great Idina Menzel will later after this movie go on to voice Elsa from Frozen. (This gives her the distinction of being the first to voice two princesses for Disney since Nancy marries Prince Edward at the end of the movie.) Even the names in this movie are Disney references. Robert and Morgan's last name is Philip, as in Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty. Nancy's last name is Tremaine in reference to the evil step mother, Lady Tremaine, from Cinderella. The couple Robert is helping divorce last name is Banks, like the parents from Mary Poppins. The pizzeria Robert take Giselle on "a date" is called Bella Notte which is the song sung during the iconic spaghetti and meatball scene in Lady and the Tramp. There are a couple dozen more references and every time you'll watch the movie you'll find more.
"So close" means a lot to me and my partner because we spent 6 years 3300 miles apart in a LDR. Now we're thankfully together, but we always seemed so close and yet so far

The umbrella talk at the beginning is so funny and nice. I'm super excited that you decided to to watch this movie it's so fun. Eugene and Robert would get along lol ✨️
The reporter is named Mary Ilene Caselotti, which is a reference to Mary Costa (the voice of Aurora), Ilene Woods (the voice of Cinderella) and Adriana Caselotti (the voice of Snow White).
Bro this movie made me cry, I was on the edge of my seat, how could this movie be hated by ppl? Like I get it’s not their taste but I thought that this movie was way ahead of its time. Also for the part where the girl gets her book I got this from another RUclipsr and I thought this was funny. “I know it’s not the fairytale book you wanted but this is better” “Oh thx dad……hey, who’s Lizzie Borden?” “😬😨 yeah let’s skip that page!”
This is one of my all time favorite movies. It is sweet. It is funny. The characters are fun and charming. This is the movie I watch every Easter and great reaction. So glad you liked this movie.
I watched this movie ALL THE TIME back in my childhood, and I NEVER noticed until this video that Robert was singing the dance song during his dance with Giselle. That is honestly so sweet and beautiful
it IS criminal that idina doesn’t get to sing in this movie, i agree. i feel like in some small way, frozen was disney’s apology to her. and then frozen 2 was their apology to jonathan groff (kristoff) for not letting him sing in frozen 1 😂
Fun fact the voice of the receptionist at the divorce lawyers office is the voice of the little mermaid, in that scene music from the little mermaid can be heard
9:33 not only is there Elsa but the lady opposite Gisselle who sees her spit out the fish is the person who voiced ARIEL in the LITTLE MERMAID and if u listen closely the song “ part of your world” plays in the background a song also from the little mermaid.
I love how this movie starts off looking like it is making fun of the most basic Disney themes and ideals like true love and happily ever after, but ends up re-affirming them.
7:55 Enchanted is a classic. I watched it for the first time a few months ago. An evil sorceress banishes a beautiful princess from an animated fantasy world to real world NYC which she falls in love with a divorce lawyer and single father.
Love this movie so so much! So many great memories watching this with my cousins & friends. Also if I remember correctly they’re also making a second one called disenchanted. Love the reaction and your videos. You do such a great job!

This and Tangled are probably my top 2 favorite Disney movies. Tangled is my favorite movie of all time. But Enchanted is right up there with it as far as Disney movies go.
I’m so happy you enjoyed it. I can imagine if I tried showing other guys they’d be too uninterested with the 5 minute intro that it may sour the rest of the experience of the movie. The casting IS very much amazing, and that huge choreography at Central Park is truly a gem 💎
0:58 The Narrator is voiced by Julie Andrews, who was also in The princess diaries. The Queen is voiced and acted by Susan Sarandon, which I saw her in Blue beetle. 2:37 Amy Adam’s Hit that highnote.😮 3:13 Get this “Wicked Witch” out of my face. Ariel, Belle and Pocahontas’ Singing voice do make cameos in this film. As a secretary, Actress in the tv, and a mother which Edward visited. Respectively. 1:02 Not really. 1:09 That Statue is Modeled after Robert’s Ball attire. 1:15 This movie was animated by another studio. 4:10 Wicked Poster in The background. I haven’t seen Wicked but I’ve read the plot and it’s good. 5:29 That book is actually Very good to give to her, cause it shows that she can have positive role models in her life, at a young age. 9:59 Snow white. 10:04 Life Action. Yeah, It’s very good. 12:36 Pink Elephants. 14:25 Lady and the Tramp. Bella Notte. 22:25 Animated Nancy looks like Snow White and Edward looks like Florian.

ngl I saw this movie ages ago and now I wanna rewatch it just from this review. like we need a couple more movies like this where it plays more with the tropes it uses. the only other one i can think of is shrek also the most unbelievable part of this... you'd leave the animated world for NYC. like not even a cool place like Nevada or california?
One of my favorite fun facts from this film is that the old men dancing in the park during How Does She Know were chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins (the flowers looking like sweep brooms is a little hint). Imagine being in one of the greatest Disney films ever released and then coming back almost FIFTY years later and being in another?!

• The old men dancers in the "How Does She Know" music number were the original chimney sweep dancers from _Mary Poppins_
• The woman actress in the Romcom on the television in the motel was Paige O'Hara who was the original actress for Belle in _Beauty and the Beast_
• The single mom in the apartments was actress Irene Bedard who was Pocahontas in _Pocahontas_
WOW!!!
18:53 yes, he is singing. In "how does she now that you love her" Robert said he neither danced nor sings. So it´s his way of showing he loves her...
That’s one of my favorite little touches. When you remember what he said earlier and see that he’s singing you know they both know. 😍
The people surrounding the bus when Edward stabs it aren't extras, they're actual tourists!
Over the years I’ve really grown to appreciate Nathaniel’s arc. I love how much he grows as a character, and his happy ending as a successful writer, with the song lyric “you even might wind up being glad to be you” is really uplifting.
The poison caramel apple Nathaniel tries to feed Giselle has the same skull pattern as the poison apple in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Welchy: Why does she look better as a dragon?
Me: Did he just realize he's a furry?
Welchy: I'M NOT A FURRY!
Also: Most, if not all, of the older men on the bench in the "Thats How You Know" number were actually the dancers/chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins.
The That's How You Know number actually made it onto the news, thinking it was a flash mob
i'm just not surprised if at this point he'll react to all disney princess movies 👀 and i won't even complain
Enchanted was the movie I grew up with. It's truly a magical movie
I used to be OBSESSED with this as a kid, and seeing you react to it made my day, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! :D
Amy Adams is so fantastic in this movie, and the difference from this to her performance in Sharp Objects is astounding, but she nails both.
I live this movie so much! The juxtapositions are so funny and it's just so whimsical ✨
Great video as always!
Appreciate you Julie! 🥹
Fun fact: the statue at the start is how Robert looks at the end of the film at the ball
This movie use to be my favourite, been forever since I saw it! I think you'd love Anastasia ❤️
This movie is so so underrated! Honestly such a childhood favourite, I love how it's a parody
as someone named giselle, this movie was my lifeline as a child
Perfect movie and great reaction! Love your videos, you're doing a fantastic job!
(This gives her the distinction of being the first to voice two princesses for Disney since Nancy marries Prince Edward at the end of the movie.)
Even the names in this movie are Disney references.
I always forget Idina is in this movie and get excited EVERY TIME. I love her
The Italian restaurant is called Bella Notte, which references the song in Lady and the Tramp.
"So close" means a lot to me and my partner because we spent 6 years 3300 miles apart in a LDR. Now we're thankfully together, but we always seemed so close and yet so far
I love watching you get hyped more and more as the movie progresses, and for good reason! This movie is incredible, I could sing its praises forever.
This used to be my favorite movie when i was young. As time passed I eventually forgot about this movie. Then you reminded me, Thank you now i can rewatch this movie.
The pink flower pattern on Giselle’s dress is really a bunch of hidden Mickeys.
That dance between Robert and Giselle lives rent free in my head
Out of all the scenes that's the scene that's always engraved in my mind whenever I think of this movie.
Bro this movie made me cry, I was on the edge of my seat, how could this movie be hated by ppl? Like I get it’s not their taste but I thought that this movie was way ahead of its time.
Also for the part where the girl gets her book I got this from another RUclipsr and I thought this was funny.
“I know it’s not the fairytale book you wanted but this is better”
“Oh thx dad……hey, who’s Lizzie Borden?”
“😬😨 yeah let’s skip that page!”
I loved this movie as a kid and was SO EXCITED when i heard it's getting a sequel!
the disenchanted trailer has been released and i cant wait! i love me a good corruption arc ngl and it looks really very good :D
9:47 10:01 I love the way this film perfectly combines live action w/ animation and CGI - I'd love to see more films do that tbh
“I’m not weird” as you start to fall back 😂😂😂
Me watching: “I love this guy! I should subscribe”
*goes below video*...*sees I’m already subscribed*
Laughs in great decision making
Robert’s last name is Philip, a reference to Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty.
Movies like Mary Poppins and Pirates of the Caribbean are technically live action movies, and they came out before Enchanted.
Hey Welchy, while we're exploring older childhood movies, would you mind checking out one called Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. It's a simple story, but very well told
21:00 He literally notices what he said, and now he can't deny it any more XD
The very first shot is a nod to the castle design in Sleeping Beauty
I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie. It was one of my favourites growing up and it still holds up today.
Always been my childhood favourite.
This and Tangled are probably my top 2 favorite Disney movies. Tangled is my favorite movie of all time. But Enchanted is right up there with it as far as Disney movies go.
Omg me too
I completely agree, these movies even kinda remind me of each other
I’m so happy you enjoyed it.
It is the best disney live action movie that is true. And such a shame that they still couldn't make the sequel.
I want to say thank you for making these videos! They brighten my day a lot and I'm happy to see you react to this one. Thanks for bringing lots of laughs and fun
So Close is one of the most romantic Disney love songs and so underrated
ngl I saw this movie ages ago and now I wanna rewatch it just from this review. like we need a couple more movies like this where it plays more with the tropes it uses. the only other one i can think of is shrek
also the most unbelievable part of this... you'd leave the animated world for NYC. like not even a cool place like Nevada or california?
Please do Ella Enchanted next!
Amazing review btw
One of my favorite fun facts from this film is that the old men dancing in the park during How Does She Know were chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins (the flowers looking like sweep brooms is a little hint). Imagine being in one of the greatest Disney films ever released and then coming back almost FIFTY years later and being in another?!
Honestly, your breakdown and joy of one of my all time favorite movies brought a smile to my face. This entire video had me grinning. I'm an adult as well and still ADORE movies like this with all of my heart. Keep doing what you're doing, you bring a ton of smiles with your commentary. And just how into it you were, how you legitimately adored it, it was just all around wonderful.
I can’t wait for the sequel in December
It's out in November
@@Disney65Fan is it? I thought it was December. That’s even better
@@Lancelot82923 Yup it's coming out November 24th on Disney Plus.
I'm so glad to see people enjoy this film as much as I did as a kid
Everybody in the comments: *has super cool fact*
Me: I honestly forgot this movie existed but damn it's better than I remember
I first watched this movie when i was 5 and it was the funniest thing at that time!
Seeing you say how stereotypical it was at the beginning knowing how it turned out was soooo funny
OK one last one, the shot where Giselle's arm flops into frame and drops the apple is meant to be an exact copy (setting aside) of the same moment in Snow White.
