Nah, thats ripe with abuse. Switch one in while Urshifu is in the field, and having it wear off before the opponent has anything good to hit with their own sounds way too easy to abuse. Or switching it into a... Flare blitz so Amoongus can spore definitely sounds like it would be annoying.

I really want them to make a version of eviolite that boosts attack stats of non fully evolved pokemon by 50%. Maybe one that also boosts all stats bar HP by 20% for non fully evolved pokemon.
As for item ideas of my own: - Plate Armor: the physical counterpart to Assault Vest. - Pixie Dust: consumable item, allows the user to share the stat boost(s) that an ally gained that turn. - Accelerant: bypasses the semi-invulnerable turn of two-turn moves such as Fly, Dig, Phantom Force, etc. * - Magic Seed: consumable item, grants 1.67x accuracy to attacking moves when Trick Room is summoned. - Birdseye Seed: consumable item, grants 1.67x accuracy to attacking moves when Tailwind is summoned, or when user is hit with a Wind move. - Belligerent Herb: consumable item, inverts stat changes from an opponent one time. * Does NOT apply to CHARGING two-turn moves such as Meteor Beam, Sky Attack, Geomancy, etc.
This is a little niche but there could be a “knee guards” item that prevents crash damage from moves like supercell slam and high jump kick. Those moves can still miss, but they just won’t do damage to the user. It would likely be on the same level as the punching glove in terms of it being a functional item but you usually won’t run it aside from extremely specific occasions.
Putting this in before I watch the video as it looks like it could come up; an idea for an item I had: Technician’s Specs Attacks with less than 60 BP get a 30% attack boost, which CAN IN FACT stack with regular Technician. You feeling lucky? Run TechSpecs on your Moushold instead of Wide Lens to miss more often but decimate anything standing in your way. I made it 1.3 because 2 free 1.5 multipliers on a 60BP move is already 135BP. and that doesn’t even have to be a Tech boost it could be a STAB boost or Tera boost.
It would also be like a really good item for story completion, especially given early enough. HMs have gone the way of the dodo but this item could potentially make them less unbearable
You could have it stack and check power sequentially. Like technician boosts the attack, then the item check the power and boosts it again if the power is still below 60? Crowds out the fun and the danger of double boosting 60 power attacks while making 40 power attacks get the full benefit. Maybe that would be worth keeping the boost size the same
Could be interesting to see a Yellow Card item. Maybe instead of removing the attacker from the field, maybe it just has negative priority on the next turn.
Maybe not strictly related to the discussion, but... You know what move I've always felt had a TON of potential? Incinerate. If you've never heard of it, I don't blame you. It was introduced in Gen V as a 30 BP spread move that destroys the target's Berry. It was buffed in Gen VI to be 60 BP and also destroy Gems... the generation every Gem but Normal was removed. I think that Incinerate should be buffed to affect more than just Berries. Any Item that can be Knocked Off should be destroyed by Incinerate, which would make it a really interesting utility move and a reasonable replacement for Knock Off on some teams. At the moment, it's learned by Ninetales, Moltres, Camerupt, Victini, Darmanitan, Salazzle, Blacephalon, Coalossal, Skeledirge, Armarouge, Ceruledge, Chi-Yu, Roaring Moon, and Gouging Fire (among a few other, less important Pokémon). It also _used_ to be a TM that could be given to a LOT of Pokémon, most notably Charizard, Clefairy, Arcanine, Weezing, Magmar, Flareon, Torkoal, Heatran, Volcarona, and Tornadus. All of these Pokémon, I believe, have reason to want to run a Fire-type spread Knock Off.
@ Keep in mind, it's 60 BP and doesn't get the 50% boost Knock Off does, so it's entirely a support move for (mostly) Fire types. I don't think it's much stronger than Icy Wind and it doesn't even outclass Knock Off in all cases for all Pokémon who get both. In singles, Tornadus would still prefer Knock Off for the extra chip damage and (because I think it'd be funny if Incineroar got it as an option, though I personally wouldn't) it would still use Knock Off pretty often for STAB damage against Ghosts. Additionally, a lot of its strongest users would much prefer raw damage. Volcarona, Chandelure, Torkoal, Typhlosion, Arcanine, Charizard, and the Charcadets would all have to sacrifice another important move. With the general power level of the game these days, it could 100% be buffed like this, no problem.
Considering they tried their hand at this idea with Corrosive Gas, but it didn’t gain any traction at all when it was introduced in IoA, and was even left out of SV, I definitely think adding damage onto that effect is the best way to get people to use a move like that.
@@CaptainObliviousV LoA also didn't have PvP so that might have been a recursive issue. "Why is nobody using this move made for competitive?!" "Maybe because we don't have a competitive format..." "It must be because the move sucks! Leave it out of the next game!"
@@Deadflower019 no no, that’s an i, I meant Isle of Armor. They really need to make those two letters more distinct😅 The move did kinda suck though. “Knock Off but without the damage” just isn’t as appealing, even if it’s got spread utility.
I've always wanted the Absorb Bulb, Luminous Moss, Cell Battery, and the Snowball items to work like one use Storm Drain or lightning Rod where they make the holder immune to that type and redirect said attack until it is used up. Mons like Gyarados would love this version of the Cell Battery and Camerupt would like this version of the Absorb Bulb or Salamence would love using this version of a Snowball.
Med Kit sounds like massive Unburden stonks. Getting it ready with practically no Setup required. And the added potential benefit of healing a Partner, preferably a support, on top of that!
You could also make some interesting items based off of the secondary effect of attacks. Like a pursuit gem that allows you to attack a switching pokemon one time.
I thought I was losing my mind because I was listening to Cassette Beasts "Same old Story" just before starting this video and then it started playing again as the background music! Love the music from the game and glad you do too!
I had an item idea that i think would be really good, especially in singles. "Trick Mirror: This pokemon switches out when on the field under the effect of trick room. One time use." You can switch out your trick room setter in both singles and doubles. I think this would be a very effect item!
About the Dire Policy, I’m not sure this is even an intended interaction, but if you do the thing that one guy did where you kill your tatsu using endure + poison orb after activating commander, and dozo holds the dire policy, that gives it an instant +4 in both defences.
When I saw the Dire policy I immediately thought that if you gave it to a Tatsugiri it would be guaranteed to go off during Dondozo Tatsugiri plays, I don't know how good that would be but I thought it was interesting.
I feel like these ideas are good but would likely have aesthetic changes to fit better, like the med kit changed to like a platter of berries, given how most healing held items are food based like berries, berry juice and leftovers, the Lucky Shield is fine but imagine if it was literal shell armour as in armour made out of sea shells like the assault vest, the Horse Blinders obviously don't make sense as there are no real-life horses (and tbh it's not super indicative) so maybe the item could be similar in appearance to the Scope Lens, call it like the Target Lens. (Also I feel like Gamefreak would never make the talismans, after everything that happened with the gems I get the feeling they're too scared to ever try making an item that gives such a potent boost)
The first two items really buff Incineroar. It can use Med-Kit when it switches back in with Parting Shot and Lucky Shield allows Incin to survive any attackers who would get a crit to break through Intimidate especially Urshifu. Man, Incineroar can abuse so many things.
Ok, but what if, and I'm saying a big if, after they (Theoretically) remove the negative priority on Magic and Wonder Room, they add some room service items for the two rooms. Wonder Service gives the holders a +1 to their lowest defense stat (after the stat switch) but is consumed upon either the room going up if their there, or upon the switching onto the field while its up. Magic Service would follow the same conditions, but with the effect to steal the item of the opponent its adjacent to upon Magic Services Consumption. Magic idk I just wish that Magic and Wonder Room weren't saddled with the same weaknesses as Trick Room.
Some item ideas I have Honourable Mention: Weather setting items but they only activate if Castform is holding it Air Balloon items for other type immunity abilities (specifically Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric immunity items) I did have a funny idea of having “Spectral Sheets” be an item that works like Air Balloon that provide Normal and Fighting immunity, but might be too strong. An item that is a weaker version of Choice Scarf, similar to how Wise Glasses and Muscle Band are weaker version of Choice Band and Choice Specs, it could have the drawback of not allowing the holder to use status moves if even an item that just buffs a pokemon’s speed by 10% is considered too strong. Horseshoe: Serene Grace as an item but only works if the holder is part of the Horse Counsel
Imagine having the Dire Policy next to a Final Gambit Annihilape while using protect/a set up move on the DP pokemon. You’d have so many strong options from there
I love these and I have a few more. Consumable items in weather similar to the terrain seeds. An item that increases power similar to metronome but only for using different moves. Resets when you use the same move twice in a row.
No it’s just a useless item since you would never be able to get the 2x speed. What the comment is saying is that if the user isn’t holding an item, the min doesn’t get the effect from the item since it is lost, and if they are holding the item, it wouldn’t proc since that’s not how unburden works
Mass Materializer - When held by a Pokémon weighing 1000 lbs or more, doubles the user’s weight and Gravity is set on the field upon switch in once (also technically causes the user to switch in after any other pokemon so as to not surprise hit flying or levitating mons with spikes) Calculator - Plus or Minus as an ability. Allegiance Scroll - Pledge Effects as a result of the user’s Grass, Water, and Fire Pledge moves are doubled in turn length Binoculars - Stakeout as an item Roadblock - Any attacking move gains an additional Pursuit effect on the first Pokemon that attempts to switch out, costs 1/3 of the user’s HP, will fail if user is below 1/3 health
I mean I guess you could say the Wise Glasses item are basically "prescription glasses" but at the same time, there's already like three glasses-based items in general [the other two being Black Glasses and Choice Specs], I don't think a fourth one's gonna hurt anybody
It's especially weird that some new items are the same as many abilities now, especially since not to long ago items were sometimes turned into abilities. Like how *Sturdy* became the ability equivalent of *Focus Sash* for example. As a side note, has anyone ever tried to use a *Focus Band* competitively instead of a *Focus Sash* ? I mean if you got really lucky you could essentially be incapable of losing since while it is only a 10% of activating, a *Focus Band* can help you survive at 1hp no matter how low you are for and unlike a *Focus Sash* it doesn't break, ever. Well anyway, this was a fantastic video, and I'd love to see a follow up on creating abilities based on items.
2 item ideas: -Assult Helmet. Gives the holder a 50% defence boost, but they can only select attacking moves. (we've had the assult vest for a while, and yet Game Freak has never made a physical version of it!) -Trickster Charm. Gives priority to the first status move used. Single use. (This one might be a little to broken, since you could just have Amongus have priority with spore.)
8:51 Dire Policy proccing on self-KO moves/self-status opens up some toxic gameplay. Explosion Regieleki, Whimsicott with priority Memento, Scarfed Final Gambit…
Inverted Talisman should definitely also work in magic rooms (am i also forgetting some niche 3rd room too). And could maybe even work on some other moves like guard swap if the user is affected by it.
I didn't expect the music from cassette beasts, finally i have found another pokemon player that doesn't see other monster taming games as pokemon rip-offs.

Time-Out Corner: Automatically switches the user out when put asleep, frozen, or confusion. Secret Diary: A Light Clay equivalent for moves that inflict volatile status conditions such as Torment, Taunt, Encore, Imprison, Disable, Embargo, etc. Spite Doll: Allows the user a one-time use of a "cursing" move (Curse, Grudge, Memento, Perish Song) without needing to damage/KO the user, faint, or inflicting the same effect on the user. Protective Talisman: Protects the user from cursing moves by opposing mons. The Life-Line: Moves that would normally knock the user out (Final Gambit, Explosion/Self Destruct) only deal damage around half the user's HP. Pocket Mirror: Rocky Helmet but against Special Moves. Medical Liscence: A one use item that gives the first status move the wielder uses increased priority.

@@FactswithKat Oh no, you won’t dare stop and stare again!
@AbigailTheAllRounder your fingers and toes have turned ice cold!

Is that "The Same Old Story" as the background music! Love cassette beasts
You'll see, it's the same old story!(Came to the comments to say this exact thing)
I thought I recognized that tune.
It's the instrumentation version, but I figured that the lyrical version would have been too distracting.
As for item ideas of my own:
- Plate Armor: the physical counterpart to Assault Vest.
- Pixie Dust: consumable item, allows the user to share the stat boost(s) that an ally gained that turn.
- Accelerant: bypasses the semi-invulnerable turn of two-turn moves such as Fly, Dig, Phantom Force, etc. *
- Magic Seed: consumable item, grants 1.67x accuracy to attacking moves when Trick Room is summoned.
Plate armor would be nice.
I want a Speed Orb that boosts speed by 30% at the cost of HP each turn, similar to the Life Orb.
Putting this in before I watch the video as it looks like it could come up; an idea for an item I had:
Technician’s Specs
Attacks with less than 60 BP get a 30% attack boost, which CAN IN FACT stack with regular Technician.
Breloom Mach punching me into the next universe
@@AutumnOwlex see but wouldn’t Breloom coming back(especially now lmao) be awesome?!?
@@dreeg1896 oh yeah that's why I mentioned it
that's the first thing I would do
You could have it stack and check power sequentially. Like technician boosts the attack, then the item check the power and boosts it again if the power is still below 60? Crowds out the fun and the danger of double boosting 60 power attacks while making 40 power attacks get the full benefit. Maybe that would be worth keeping the boost size the same
I hear the Cassette Beasts ost in the background, best monster catching game ever

Special Attacking Knock-off that hits both targets and doesn't make contact sounds crazy busted. Maybe limit it to consumable items (one-use items).
"Why is nobody using this move made for competitive?!"
"Maybe because we don't have a competitive format..."
"It must be because the move sucks! Leave it out of the next game!"
@@Deadflower019 no no, that’s an i, I meant Isle of Armor. They really need to make those two letters more distinct😅
The move did kinda suck though. “Knock Off but without the damage” just isn’t as appealing, even if it’s got spread utility.
the cassette beasts music in the background rocks tho! Nice choice!
Agreed, they should make this item for all types. One time nullification with a stat boost is cool.
I know it's just an example, but that would be absurd. Pursuit was strong enough with 40 base power 😅
4:55 "top of my list has- RYAN REYNOLDS FROM MINT MOBILE HERE!"
yooooo wasn't expecting Cassette Beasts soundtrack. Nice taste
I was scrolling the comments just to see if someone else would appreciate it 😭
There better be a megaphone item in this that boosts sound moves
A Pokémon video with Cassette Beasts’ ost… perfection.
Was not expecting to see that Typhlosion art piece anywhere ever
I thought I was losing my mind because I was listening to Cassette Beasts "Same old Story" just before starting this video and then it started playing again as the background music! Love the music from the game and glad you do too!
4:39 lucky shield seems perfectly balanced, great idea
“Target Lens” was literally the name I came up with too.
Here's an item idea - *Blank Cloak* - Held item that causes the holder to be treated as Mono-Normal.
Zebstrika moxie is the best thing to come out of this channel
0:21 Unown numbers when?
10:35 bro forget about gravity
Bro had little sprites made for each item idea, we love the effort
love the cassette beasts music in the background :)
The first two items really buff Incineroar. It can use Med-Kit when it switches back in with Parting Shot and Lucky Shield allows Incin to survive any attackers who would get a crit to break through Intimidate especially Urshifu. Man, Incineroar can abuse so many things.
It’s hard to add stuff that doesn’t buff incineroar (except if you prevent it from using them)
Ok, but what if, and I'm saying a big if, after they (Theoretically) remove the negative priority on Magic and Wonder Room, they add some room service items for the two rooms.
The talismans are sick items ngl
Esteemed member of the “hoarse council”
Horse blinders would be OP. Reduce power of spread moves used by the holder as a nerf(?)
Turning swift swimmers and cholorophyls into weather setters would go crazy, specially in singles
if it was half duration, like the opposite of damp rock etc. that would help to balance it
@@bucketspree4952theres No balancing weather setting items
Some item ideas I have
Honourable Mention: Weather setting items but they only activate if Castform is holding it
Air Balloon items for other type immunity abilities (specifically Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric immunity items)
I did have a funny idea of having “Spectral Sheets” be an item that works like Air Balloon that provide Normal and Fighting immunity, but might be too strong.
Horseshoe: Serene Grace as an item but only works if the holder is part of the Horse Counsel
the thumbnail got me in the feels. edge-cineroar mourning rillagoon
Imagine having the Dire Policy next to a Final Gambit Annihilape while using protect/a set up move on the DP pokemon. You’d have so many strong options from there
8:11 Ability suppressor could also be useful on something like Durant. Let it keep Truant and use Entrainment without being crippled.
I love these and I have a few more. Consumable items in weather similar to the terrain seeds. An item that increases power similar to metronome but only for using different moves. Resets when you use the same move twice in a row.
They should make unburden an item but the 2x speed when lost price when the item is lost and when the item is lost the effects is removed
Price is a misspell of but
Even better choice scarf with almost no drawback would destroy comp😂
@@DeScary-rw4zt how did you misspell but as price 😭
No it’s just a useless item since you would never be able to get the 2x speed. What the comment is saying is that if the user isn’t holding an item, the min doesn’t get the effect from the item since it is lost, and if they are holding the item, it wouldn’t proc since that’s not how unburden works
i could genuinely see that being run on Knock Off absorbers. It's like how removing a Weakness Policy will still trigger it.
Idea: Glass Gauntlet,
Gives the mon Unseen fist, breaks after use.
(That would be so toxic without open team sheets lol)
Mom, Moxie Boosted just dropped 🗣️🔥
Mass Materializer - When held by a Pokémon weighing 1000 lbs or more, doubles the user’s weight and Gravity is set on the field upon switch in once (also technically causes the user to switch in after any other pokemon so as to not surprise hit flying or levitating mons with spikes)
Calculator - Plus or Minus as an ability.
Allegiance Scroll - Pledge Effects as a result of the user’s Grass, Water, and Fire Pledge moves are doubled in turn length
Binoculars - Stakeout as an item
Roadblock - Any attacking move gains an additional Pursuit effect on the first Pokemon that attempts to switch out, costs 1/3 of the user’s HP, will fail if user is below 1/3 health
12:39 I don't like the idea of Typhlosion having two spaghetti meals in one day!
The horse blinders could also be prescription glasses. Idk if that’s already an item though lol
I mean I guess you could say the Wise Glasses item are basically "prescription glasses" but at the same time, there's already like three glasses-based items in general [the other two being Black Glasses and Choice Specs], I don't think a fourth one's gonna hurt anybody
Med kit could also work really well with unburden pokemon
The little horse bit made me laugh way more than it should’ve
Holy shit Cassete Beasts music?
It's especially weird that some new items are the same as many abilities now, especially since not to long ago items were sometimes turned into abilities. Like how *Sturdy* became the ability equivalent of *Focus Sash* for example. As a side note, has anyone ever tried to use a *Focus Band* competitively instead of a *Focus Sash* ? I mean if you got really lucky you could essentially be incapable of losing since while it is only a 10% of activating, a *Focus Band* can help you survive at 1hp no matter how low you are for and unlike a *Focus Sash* it doesn't break, ever. Well anyway, this was a fantastic video, and I'd love to see a follow up on creating abilities based on items.
the lucky shield will be bursted in single cuz now any setup bulky mon can use it and snowball with store power power trip and body press
Toedscruel ability suppressor go brrr XD
Good choice on the background music
Same Old Story - Instrumental from Cassette Beast for everyone who wants to know
imagine dire policy magearna next to a final gambit user
2 item ideas:
-Assult Helmet. Gives the holder a 50% defence boost, but they can only select attacking moves. (we've had the assult vest for a while, and yet Game Freak has never made a physical version of it!)
-Trickster Charm.
Honestly? Just having to build teams around a random carry having Dire Policy sounds horrific, let alone strategies build around it.
Now I imagined a rest, sleep talk and facade Blight Talisman sweeper
With dire policy, it's threatening in the sense that if u want to kill the ally pokemon that's more threatening, it makes the poemon holding dire policy way more threatening itself. Fucking insanely busted
Is that the cassette beasts ost I hear?
Yes
Items that inflicted status upon contact could be cool. It could also give the Magmizer and the Electrizer an actual use, making them Flame Body and Static respectively.
Then we've got the Toxinizer which is Poison Point, Frostizer which is Static but freeze, and Soothizer which is Static but sleep.
Also SAME OLD STORY BACKGROUND MUSIC‼️ CASSETTE BEASTS MENTIONED‼️
8:55 dozogiri, dozo with dire policy. Kill giri inside dozo (with toxic or perish song), triggering dire policy. Bring in costar flamigo. Shake my hand gg. Idgaf how paper thin flamigo normally is, x3 def and spdf is insane. Basically the early wolfe strat but now flamigo is almost unkillable, especially if you have the lucky shield.

yeah, these items are really cool, i think TPCI should introduce the 0 IV bottle caps and maybe an item which increase def by 1.5 to complete the choice items + AV family
Names are a work in progress.
The Prohibition Sign: While on the field, the effect of Imprison is always active preventing other Pokemon from using moves the user has. But also in turn prevents the user from using said moves.
Eviomite: Basically the Eviolite but for attacking stats.
Safety Net: Prevents the user from taking damage from throwing, drag-out, and crash damage moves on the user as it deploys before they hit the ground.
Mental Links: An item for double battle that only works if both the user's Pokemon are wielding the item. Granting both the effects of Telepathy and Triage/Prankster for moves used on their partners
Reverse Type Enhancing Items: A new series of items like Charcoal, Black Glasses, Black Belt, etc. that instead of buffing the attack power of moves with a specific type, instead decrease the power of moves of a specific type used on the user. Though also weakening the power of the user's own moves of said type.
Bandage Kit: Acts as a mini-Regenerator ability for the user when they switch out though it is consumed upon being switched back in and only recovers the amount as Leftovers (if not less) for every turn it is in the party.
While actually setting the weather would be way to strong, what about an item that lets the wearer activate abilities and trigger additional effects of moves (but not the bonus the weather provides to types) while they hold it. Call it ____ Post Card/Picture/Painting (eg Sunny post card, Rainy picture, Beach painting). Swift swimmers could get the speed boost but water moves aren't any stronger, solar beams could activate in one turn but fire moves don't hit harder, Sand veil users get their evasion but no chip damage and no S. Def boost for rock types, ect.
