Absol's lore has it warn people from disasters or bad occurrences, so what if absol's presence on the field protected your side from the secondary effect of moves? This notably affects scald, rock slide and especially fakeout.
I like using its lore so why not make it so that sucker punch when it hits an opponent it flinches if that move was targeted towards an ally so u can still utilize that high attack stat Edit: call the ability premonition
maybe if it's switched in, the first time in the fight, for a still active pokemon, it grants all pokemon on your side of the field detect for the turn. Kind of similar to mimikyu in that it can take an attack, but it's only once, only the turn and basically gives you a free switch without endangering a pokemon. detect might be a bit too strong... so something like mimikyu's new ability, where it only drastically reduces the damage, could be a better solution? but that probably needs some play testing.
This might be broken but what if you also gave it a move where you and your partner pokemon have like a 30% increase in evasion to attacking moves that turn. It would be like Protect, where if used multiple times, it has a less likely chance of success. Sorta like mat block but a tad worse.
For Aggron: 1. Give it Earth Eater over Heavy Metal 2. Give it +10 attack 3. Give it Wide Guard&Quick Guard That is the best I got, the Ground immunity is thematically fitting and and with the buffed Attack its Heavy Slams do sting quite a bit (as strong as Zamazenta) to go with its existing access to Body Press and Head Smash. It still has a ton of weaknesses and dies to any stray fighting move but that is what Tera is for.
Or at a minimum give it Filter, which its mega form has. Would be even more useful on base Aggron since the rock typing gives it more weakness than plain Steel Type does.
Love Earth Eater as an ability. Thematic and lore flavorful, powerful for EQ avoidance, and simple enough to implement. Personally, I'd just introduce a custom signature move to counter that Fighting weakness. Since lore-wise it shoukd be resistant to them. Reforge +2 Priority status, Steel Type The user takes x.5 damage from Physical moves for the next 5 turns. A basic defensive boost that negates it's x4 Fighting weakness, while also letting it wall stuff like Urshifu by using a status not a stat.
Imagine Lunatone and Solrock had a hidden ability which sets up gravity upon entry. Suddenly they’re firing off accurate stone edge, zen headbutt and hypnosis.
an interesting thematic new ability for absol could be "bad luck" an ability that makes a greater chance for bad rolls on the opponents side so lower damage rolls, less chance for crits, greater chance to miss (if accuracy was already hindered in some way), less chance for secondary effects on there moves, lower multi hit move chance, greater flinch chance, ect...
yeah, and 3 mons that really show this in my opinion are banette, seviper and absol but gen 3 is also home to Sceptile who was the biggest casualty of the Physical/Special split from gen 4, from having access to a decent number of special moves with it being a special attacker...to now having almost no special moves to speak of from gen 4 onward
Give Absol an ability called Premonition that gives it priority when it's being targeted by a super effective attack It basically turns its moves into risk free but more situational sucker punch There's also probably a number of other pokemon you could reasonably give it to as well
@@FancyPantaloons I think that would work. It'd be a little weird but you could still justify it thematically. It probably wouldn't be that useful anyway so it definitely wouldn't be broken
I think Castform deserves a fun new evolution that interacts with Terrain. I propose to you Caststorm, it changes form in both weather and terrain, meaning that it can have several different dual types (and also a new sandstorm form) Idk it sounds like a really fun gimmick
Or regional form that focuses exclusively on Terrains... Tareform? Like Terraforming but with the cAstFORM name similarity. Also as I've learned a handful of times now, a Sandstorm form of Castform wouldn't make a whole lot of sense as it's more based on Water States caused by weather instead of weather itself (since a Sandstorm would have a distinct lack of Water in any form, this is likely why they never gave Castform a matching form even when they were both present in its introductory generation)
I thought this once before. Make the terrain be the secondary type so you can have hybrids. Going from ice/electric to fire/grass in a single turn would be niche but fun
Its cool to see someone do reasonable buffs instead of going crazy and give 140 atk and speed to every pokemon and give them huge power because thats how most people do when they try to buff old pokemon
Castform should also be able to instantly cast a weather if it's holding the related weather rock. I feel like the ability working that way would make a ton of sense
That’s a great idea. On top of that I was always under the impression as a kid that different castform forms had different stats. Which would also be quite cool imo
The Weather arceus. Another boost would be to have it gain the benefits of another ability according to the weather. Swift Swim in rain, Solar Power in sun, Ice Body in snow and Sand Force in sand. And yes, give it a freaking sand form Game Freak, it's been 20 years, just give it that one.
@@motherlove8366 I think just the blanket buff upon transforming makes the most sense, because let's not overcomplicate it. But I do think that the transformations should have a rotom form style stat buff where it may become just a little bulkier once it transforms? To make that not seem too crazy, I would then just have the passive buff from its ability that Moxie suggested only go to special attack.
@@Zorothegallade-gg7zg I like that idea but it might complicate things. I do agree with the sand form and while we are at it the thing definitely needs a move set rework. There are a lot of moves that you think it would learn or would be cool for it to learn. Just some ideas off the top of my head include Misty Terrain, Misty Explosion, Aurora Veil, Life Dew, Morning Sun, and Heat Wave. It doesn't get any of those but I think they would make sense. Also, Tailwind, Defog, and Icy Wind are tutor moves for this thing but I think they could just become part of its regular level up set.
@@toast_busters Hmm...how about making it immune to moves of the type corresponding to the current weather? Even without boosting its stats, it would make it a decent switch-in for mons exploiting the weather.
One thing I wanted to add for Aggron is a move I'm actually using for my dream pokemon romhack (as in I'm probably never gonna develop this as a playable game, but I'm still gonna write ideas and draw designs for it) The move doesn't have a definitive name right now, but the current wips are Shovel-Up or Excavate And its pretty much just a physical steel type move, thats maybe 70 or 80 base power. But its special trait is that it deals super effective damage to ground types (similar to Freeze Dry's interaction with water types) So instead of a ground type switching in on Aggron to KO it with Earthquake, they have to risk taking a strong super effective attack on the switch. (Also worth noting that this isn't an Aggron signature move. Some other steel and non steel types in this hypothetical "game" could learn it as well) And besides that I'd probably just give it Filter from its mega form (not sure if that would help, but eh)
@fartgif5039 It would definitely be able to learn it As well as other construction/digging themed pokemon could learn it as well (though only Conkledurr and Steelix are coming to mind atm)
They'd make it "Luvathan" or "Luvuathan" instead to add the "Love you a ton" wordplay, as lets be honest pokemon wouldn't pass the oppurtunity for thematically appropiate puns. (Unless you're Talonflame).
In the Radical Red Rom Hack they made Luvdisc part fairy, gave it Magearna's ability, Soul Heart, and gave it 100 Special Attack. Somehow it still managed to not be broken lmao
I really like Dizzy! My solution for Spinda was to straight up give it an evolution based on the Drunken Fist style of martial arts fighting Zuiquanda (Zuì Quán, the 'drunken boxing' martial art style + Panda) Normal/Fighting Abilities: Scrappy, Tangled Feet, HA: Contrary Stats: 90(+30)/120(+60)/90(+30)/60/60/120(+60) (540 BST i.e one and a half full rotations) New moves: Spinning Fist (90BP Fighting, doubles in power when confused), Ice Spinner, Play Rough, Spin Out, Feint, Close Combat, Stuff Cheeks, Belch (purely thematic because it's """dizzy""" totally just dizzy and nothing else) Notable Spinda Moves: Wild Charge, Focus Punch, Drain Punch, Sucker Punch, Thrash, Fake Out, Rapid Spin
Swalot is a Pokémon I have always associated with the Stockpile mechanic, a move that lets you stack up to three stockpiles on the mon (each one increasing their Def & Sp.Def by one stage as of Gen 4) which then can be cashed out for moves like Swallow and Spit Up. Given Swalot is meant to be a bulky wall and Stockpile was added in Gen 3 I think that would fitting to have the new Snack ability passively add stock each turn if it has leftovers or a berry/consumable item rather than plain healing. Though that might also need to come with some buffs to the Stockpile mechanic in general like removing the restriction of only being able to have three stocks, having the defense buffs affect the mon's stats directly like Protosynthesis, or give them an added effect like being able to reduce the damage of a super effective attack by 25% at the cost of a stock for example.
@@motherlove8366 How about making the ability immediately max out the Stockpile stocks when Swalot eats a berry? It would give a great emergency defense boost when using a pinch berry and lend itself to some great shenanigans with Recycle. That and/or put Pluck or Bug Bite in its movepool so that it can also trigger it by eating the opponent's berry
@@Zorothegallade-gg7zg Or we can also give Swalot a new signature move that recycles its consumer held item as a secondary effect from attacking. "Reguritate" seems a like solid name.
@@ogopogoagogo Honestly I think you could do both, especially since Belch is super underused both in the adventure and in competitive Change it so that swallot gets a stockpile boost whenever it consumes a berry, and change belch so that when you regurgitate the berry you actually get it back To me this still has enough counterplay to not be op, Belch is still situational and hard to use and swallot still has bad offensive stats But either of these ideas on their own is cool, the same way the stockpile thing is associated with swallot, I think Belch is also a move associated with swallot
An idea for Absol could be a new ability I've called "Disaster sense". If it's about to faint from an attack, it senses the disaster and dodges the attack. Doubles it could dodge all attacks if its targeted multiple times but only after the would be killing blow, if the first one only brings it to low health it gets hit but dodges the second. Means you could guarantee a greedy swords dance or go for a spread move with your partner. Fits thematically
Aggron buffs: -New hidden abilitiy: Filter (replaces heavy weight) -New ability: Psammo Tactics, It makes the user recover 1/16 of it's hp while there's a sandstorm on the field, it also makes the user immune to sandstorm (replaces sturdy) -Take 31 from it's speed to it's special defense, now it can outspeed torkoal in trick room and it's a little more bulky on the special side. -Give it leech life, drain punch or make a new 75 base power rock or steel type move that recovers 50% of the damage dealt.
absol: change its hidden ability justified to a custom ability called "Harbinger" which makes it so that if absol's stats are lowered in any way, or it is afflicted with a status condition (including leech seed or sand tomb/fire spin) by a pokemon's move (no compatibility with toxic orb for balance) it afflicts that pokemon with a marker called "impending disaster" which is basically just perish song BUT said afflicted pokemon dies after 2 turns instead of 3 to make it more desirable. this basically gives it a good niche against stall pokemon that love afflicting status and sitting on the field while also enabling absol to pair nicely with defiant pokemon like kingambit or ogerpon grass in doubles
funny to hear you bring up friendguard for luvdisc, Recently did deisgn an evo for it that did get friend guard too cus it just felt so thematically fitting Also for Aggron, I'd love to change its rock type to Dragon personally. With that, you could pair Dragon Dance to give it. If that wont work, giving it Filter on its base form would perhaps give it more of a fighting chance.
Absol in lore tries to warn people against disasters, so what if we give it the signature ability "Disaster Warning": If the opposing Pokémon have a super effective move against the user or its partner when switched in, this pokemon and its partner gets their speed raised by one stage. This is maybe too broken. Maybe it's raised by two stages but only once per battle? I'm not sure
Yo, this would actually be sick! Maybe have it activate once every time Absol is on the field? So you can switch into absol on a turn, have your partner Pokémon’s speed raised and move first, potentially. But if your opponent switches their Pokémon to one with another super effective attack, it doesn’t activate until absol switches out and then back in.
100% broken, it's practically guaranteed, and speed is too precious. maybe if it was def/spdef, and only affecting Absol, that could be fine. also it's counterthematic to its identity as a physical attacker.
I really appreciate how your not afraid to buff stats. Because some pokemon really do just need a slight boost so they can properly fill the role they are already in. Some people are afraid of stat buffs because it's "too simple" but sometimes all you need is a simple buff.
I think giving Aggron Earth Eater would be fantastic cuz it would be, in a strange way, a different option for Tyranitar. Think about it! Aside from Aggron's stats being somewhat worse from T-tar now it could function a niche as a bulky attacker with good defenses all around in sand teams. It would have almost basically the same weakness as Tar but now it can switch in into friendly or enemy's Tantrums or Earthquakes with ease while also regaining HP, hell it could run even more recovery and be a proper tank
11:21 what about dizzy punch or vaccum wave? also just to give spinda extra help what if dizzy worked similar to wind rider, where it gets a boost to its speed, special and physical attack if any spinning move is used on the field. This would mean it wouldn't get a boost to its defenses, but it would be more versatile as it doesn't have to rely on those few moves, it could both boost by using spinning moves itself, or boost if an enemy happens to use a spinning move at all. This could make opponents wary of using spinning moves, even if spinda isn't on the field, as they would have to worry about you switching it in at the wrong time for them and getting a boost. This also makes it a good anti rapid spinner, as opponents wouldn't want to use rapid spin if you have a spinda, so you get to keep your hazards on the field. Tidy up could still work, but spinda can now threaten those pokemon with stronger vaccum waves and dizzy punches (im changing dizzy punch to a fighting move) as pretty much all of the tidy up pokemon are normal types.
Another buff I think would be great is that making forecast activate weather as long as castform is holding a weather rock+its already existing effect of changing its form. That way dude can set any weather you want on switch in but is limited on what item it can use. An opponent changing the weather might cause it to receive stab weather ball and turn that against them.
To me buffing Castform in two changes: • While form changed, increases highest stat by a stage (like beast boost or paradox mon). With that flat 70 across the board, suddenly there's sooooo much more freedom. • Should get Aurora Veil. I love the idea of more monsters (especially non-ice) getting that move to liberate snow teams Though also giving it an evo could be fun, to also permit eviolite. I think its 420 BST is funny. If there's no evo, then blanket +10s to 480 works. For Swalot, I'd like a new ability that gives a Stockpile when sent out, and Swallow + Spit Up buffed. Maybe even make poison move so it's like a signature. Either that or Belch can be used after Stockpile Absol I can see Sharpness working, though if it were designed today, it'd also get a weird signature move. Maybe one that sets Perish Counter or Curse damage on hit.
Little further with your spinda idea: "Everytime any pokemon spins, spinda also spins. With every spin spindas stats raise by 1, but have a 10% chance to confuse spinda."
I think a better (or realistic to be more accurate) buff for Spinda would be it receiving the Dancer ability and access to some dance attacks (probably limit some of them because if it has all, it'll just be a normal type Oricorio)
I would make Absol base 100/105 speed, and slap the fairy typing on it for stab playroughs, with sharpness for nightslash damage increases And for Aggron, give it earth eater, over heavy metal, more attack, and a wider move pool for support, also maybe even slightly more special defense (like 5 at most)
I think Dizzy might be a bit too game breaking, it might be fine if it was just the boost for Spinda, but the concern would be making that omniboost available to psych up mons. I could already see a Dizzy scarf teeter dance(or any spin move for flexibility) + Tera something good CalyS w/ lum berry and psyche up on turn 1 being utterly terrifying.
7:35 I had a perfect buff for Castformed cooked the other day with a friend actually! First off, it gains its Rock Form from Sandstorm. Then we made it so Forecast now interacted with Terrains alongside Weather, making so Castform can become Weather/Terrain Type, if there is no Weather it stays Normal but with no Terrain it gets no type, gaining the move Terrain Pulse and perhaps another passive buff while under a weather, like Ice/Rock gaining 2x Def/Sp.Def respectively while under Sun/Rain the effect of moves he uses/receives are 1.5x more effective (basically making Fire or Water moves be 2x stronger/weaker depending on weather for it). It allows Casform be multiple types and flexible attacker of various types being able to hit with Normal, Water, Fire, Ice or Rock and Grass, Psychic, Fairy or Electric. Something else less extreme we cooked was making Forecast reset and/or extend the weather to 8 turns alongside transforming Castform.
A Buff I had in mind for Castform for a while is: Forecast now works like Drought, Drizzle, Snow Warning. If Castform is holding Icy Rock, upon being thrown out, it sets up Snowing. If Castform is holding Heat Rock, it sets up Sun. If Castform is holding Damp Rock, you get it. That way Castform functions as a Weather Setter for each archetype, giving it a Sandy Form, and perhaps a Boost during weather like you stated would make it instantly viable as a weather setter
Another way to buff Spinda would be to lean into it's Confusion thematic. The "easy" way would be to give it a Confusion based version of Komala's Comatose ability, likely with some added benefits as i don't think being in a permanent state of confusion (without the actual drawback) has any useful applications unlike sleep. The more involved way would be to perhaps give spinda +2 priority on any move that causes confusion, this includes both status moves as well as attacks. Meaning Spinda would have +2 priority on Teeter Dance, Swagger, Dizzy Punch, Thrash etc. The reason for +2 is to differentiate it somewhat from Prankster, although with it also affecting some attacking moves perhaps +1 is enough idk but considering Spindas terrible stats i feel like +2 can be justified. This would maybe give it a niche as a support pokemon in doubles or as a revenge killer in singles? But like a very weak one.
I have an idea for Solrock and Lunatone evolutions that would really help them out. They would be based on the Japanese gods of the Sun and Moon respectively. The evolution of Solrock would be called Solterasu and be a Fire/Psychic type with a signature ability that would allow its Fire Type attacks to deal super effective damage to Water Types. It would also get a signature Fire Type physical spread attack called Sun Spear that would heal 25 percent of the damage done to the targets and have a 30 percent chance to Burn them. The evolution of Lunatone would be called Lunayomi and would be a Psychic/Fairy type with a signature ability that would allow its Fairy Type moves to deal super effective damage to Steel types. It would also get a signature Fairy Type special spread attack called Lunar Mirror that heals 25 percent of the damage done to the targets and has 30 percent chance to put them to Sleep. What do you think?
An idea for Aggron is to give it a new ability called Impenetrable. The user takes 50% less damage from all super-effective attacks. This would bring its crippling ×4 weaknesses down to ×2 and completely remove its standard weaknesses. Yes, it's just a better Filter.
One thing that sounds a little wack for Aggron but is a pretty nice boost to it is Grassy Surge. It provides more support to the team, reduces the power of stray EQs so that if someone wants to capitalize on its ground weakness they need to target it with a different move, and it provides some passive recovery to help it make better use of its bulk. It's not a massive change, and be it in singles or doubles doesn't make for the biggest of viability shifts, but it's a nice little boost without touching its stats (which aren't distributed optimally, but aren't inherently suboptimal).
8:39 Potential thematic ability for Absol: *Disaster Sense:* _Disaster Sense_ raises the bearer's or ally's Evasiveness by one stage when they're targeted by an one-hit KO move or a move with base power 120 or above. As we all know per its Pokédex lore, Absol does not have bad luck or bring bad luck, but "It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger." "It was mistaken as a doom-bringer." So my thematic idea is that before Absol or its ally is hit by a strong move (120+ BP or OHKO), it raises its evasion (and/or its ally's evasion if the ally is being targeted) to try to dodge it because it senses it coming, so that 1 stage boost to evasion applies before the move is rolled to hit. Evasion strats are very rare in a viable form, only showing up with Articuno Snow Cloak and Garchomp Sand Veil, so I think would be really cool as a niche strategy while being super thematic to Absol's lore. You could play around it with auto-hit moves or using moves below 120 BP, which is pretty easy, but it offers a trade-off choice to the opponent, which I think is fun. In that respect, I don't think this is enough to sufficiently buff Absol on its own, but I don't want to make an evasion-raising ability too strong to prevent absurd cheese (especially if combined with Double Team... but also making Double Team viable _ever_ would be kind of neat). But you could argue it should trigger on attacks of 100+ BP instead of 120. Or it could work on super-effective moves instead. If someone is too offended by the idea of an evasion stage-raising ability, it could be Def/SpDef instead so it works like a sidegrade to Stamina (or add Speed or make it omniboost if you really want to buff Absol), but I think boosting evasiveness is more unique and thematically fitting. Other ideas to buff Absol besides another ability or just buffing stats... give it U-Turn, Extreme Speed, Trailblaze, and/or Wicked Blow (thematically explained as it sees the future a bit so it can always crit). More physical coverage, like Wild Charge, Head Smash, Flare Blitz, or maybe Brave Bird (Mega gets wings) would be good too; recoil moves I feel make sense for Absol because its lore is that it shows up to natural disasters, risking its own safety just to warn others, so recklessly hurting itself to fight for its friends also tracks. But seriously give it Extreme Speed; Absol just *_feels_* like a mon that should have Extreme Speed.
Funny very niche side effect of this Disaster Sense ability would be you could use an OHKO move into your own Absol, trusting that you'll miss the 30% chance * 75% chance from Disaster Sense = 22.5% chance to hit. If Absol got off a Double Team first (or we buffed Disaster Sense to give two stages), then that'd be an 18% chance to knock out your own Absol in exchange for 2 stages of evasion... not worth it, but funny, so maybe Pimpnite or someone could do a video trying to get the strategy to work.
I think Absol should be buffed by giving it 170 speed and 320 attack. This is fine, because it is a cool guy and not because it is my favorite Pokémon ever.
I actually love the idea of giving Claydol Mind's Eye not just because its a psychic type with a lot of eyes but because its a weird old doll believed to be some sort of alien or spirit, and they're just mud come to life. These weird supernatural things aren't ghosts but they treat ghosts as though they were regular things because to whatever these weird creatures are, they might as well be. Psychic type Pokémon deserve to have as much weirdness about them as ghosts and fairies
I've though of another way to buff Castform: (GameFreak plz listen) Modify its ability Forecast so that when it's sent out it randomly starts rain, sun, hail, or sandstorm on the field and transforms to its respective form. Yes this means it will get a rock type form. This change is do to the 'unpredictability' of weather to an extent and makes Castform a big Wildcard to make things fun. I like the buff to the SpA you had as well.
Supposedly it'll never get a Sandstorm Form because Castform is more based around the cycles of Water caused by weather, not weather itself. So for a Sandstorm which has a distinct lack of water prsent it wouldn't make any thematic sense.
@@-libertyprimev1-902 Aw man, thats interesting to know though. Maybe they can just do a little theme change and base it off weather =], but then again it took them 20 years to give Dunsparce an evolution so this prob wont happen =P
For Aggron my first thought was to give a unique ability that when it had a stat lowered, it's defense is raised by 1 stage. So say you get intimidated, he's now got immediate defense on top of his 180 base defense. Also prevents him from having his defense lowered by opponents. Play smart with your Terra, and you have a physical wall with access to Body Press and Metal Burst. Is it the greatest thing, no, but it has some reason for having some of the highest defenses in the game.
a buff for aggron could be giving it the ability rivalry. BUT we also rework rivalry (this would also help haxorus and others with the ability) the change would be so that the pokemon only recieves full damage from the pokemon they're targeting, otherwise, it recieves half the damage. to picture this change imma explain it in a battle scenario. in 2 vs 2 (vgc) aggron and grimmsnarl vs goldengho and rillaboom rillaboom is going to use fake out against grimmsnarl, gholdengo is going to use make it rain, aggron tarets rillaboom and grimmsnarl protects. because aggron targetted rillaboom, the rillaboom becomes aggron's rival and gholdengo's make it rain damage will be halved by the ability (this effect continues until the rillaboom is knocked out or switches out. if that happens, the next pokemon that he targets becomes the new rival). Heres the damage calc: 0hp, 0spd, AV, (the ability would be a +2spd +2def equivalent) aggron vs modest, choice specs, 252spa gholdengo make it rain is at max 52%. It doesn't even 2hko also aggron needs an attack stat buff 'cause while looking at some calcs aggron's damage was pitiful even with adamant 252 evs also also an idea for a new ability for pokemon who get screwed desensively by their typing is an ability that olty takes in mind the primary typing when getting hit. For example aggron keeps his rock stab but when getting hit the rock typing is ignored
I love your videos buffs far more than any others. They're creative, fun, not over the top, and still kept intact with the Pokemon's theming. Cant wait for more
Potential moves that could fit the spin category(causing user to spin)(from more fitting to kinda stretching the line): -Mortal Spin(I know spinda doesn’t get it but if population bomb is boosted by sharpness so should mortal spin cause spin) -Spin Out -Triple axel(spin in ice skating) -Flame Wheel -Aura Wheel (Below these are more based on animation and may not be accurate according how the game describes it) -Darkest Lariat -Breaking Swipe -Brutal Swing -Sunsteel Strike -Topsy Turvy? -U-turn(although that’s more of a half spin and would also be pointless) -Flip Turn You could include all the Torque moves from the StarMobile and I guess many removed moves like rolling kick or steamroller although obviously those are inaccesible for players there non legal in any format(except perhaps hackmons but hats another rabbit whole)
Great ideas! I always thought Spinda could get an ability called "Mesmerizer", the description would be "This pokemon's movements are very hard to ignore, making its opponents struggle to focus and lowering their Special Attack by one stage whenever its user hits the field.", basically SpAtt intimidate! I think it'd be a funny way to finally introduce the SpAtt equivalent to intimidate and for it to be on Spinda of all things, it also fits it thematically I feel both with its whole "drunk fighting" inspiration as well as the usual ties of twirls and swirls being associated with hypnotism as well as dizzyness.
Alternative ability for Swalot, Digestion "Once the Pokemon consumes its held Berry, it will regain its effect at the start of every turn for 5 turns." so like a guaranteed but limited Harvest. Since it gets the criminally underrated and limited move Stuffed Cheeks (immediately consume held Berry, gain its effects regardless of requirements, and gain +2 Defense) it could abuse Any Berry beyond just the Healing ones (which could also lead to insane stall) from Turn 1... This could make it a gimmicky Acupressure like setup abuser (but with more control and passive increases) along with Body Press using berries that could passively increase Defenses further (Ganlon Berry), or Custap for +1 Priority on every move (for 5 turns), Starf Berry for Moody but without the downsides, Lansat Berry for more Crit Rate I guess, then of course any of the HP restoring Berries for big stall alongside Protect if needed.
8:41 my idea for absol is give it a ability called bad fortune and the idea behind it is that when on the field every mon except dark types are subjected to a higher chance of misfortune such as: being hit more often, an increased chance to be crit, an 2x increase from being inflicted by a secondary effect and lastly a higher chance to lose a speed tie/if the opponent with the speed tie is dark then they automatically win the speed tie. This sounds broken but keep in mind absol is really frail so absol could be killed before the misfortune gets out of hand
Aggron is one of my favorite pokemon of all time. I feel like terastallization would give it a TON of grace this generation if it were there. Tera flying would just go too hard. But since it's not there and we need a more permanent fix: What if he got an ability called Steel Horns? Gives it +1 to spdef when it hits the field to shore up that a little bit, makes steel moves super effective against other steel types and ground types, making it an offensive threat to pokemon that could counter or wall it. Or maybe make it a signature move that's just super effective against both types, making it hard to switch into safely Alternatively, it could read "all contact moves deal effective damage", getting rid of resists entirely while still being balanced so you don't score super effective hits. It would replace rock head as it would likely also prevent recoil damage since in the pokedex it uses it's horns to break through bedrock. Feels kinda silly if you have a head that hard that you can't use head smash without taking recoil, tbh. If I were to design a move, base 90 rock type move with no accuracy check, tentatively called Body Check. This thing fiercely defends its territory in the wild according to the dex, so I feel like something to do with thrashing about to defend itself would be warranted. Maybe +1 to both defenses but can't be used twice in a row. I considered 50% flinch chance, but that seems absurd and you'd need to run it exclusively in trick room to get any real value without 252+ speed and tailwind and pray the opponent doesn't have tr or tailwind lol I feel like something that makes it continually become harder and harder to remove as it "defends itself" would be really cool. Also move 15 pts of speed to spdef because got it needs all the help it can get in that area lol These feel quite powerful to me while still maintaining true to its dex entries. Which basically describes it as this immovable force that just wants to protect its mountain. It's just a little hermit. IT EVEN PLANTS IT'S OWN NEW TREES AFTER FIRES AND JUNK MAN. There's so much they could to with this mon and they just *won't*.
I remember when Sun and Moon first came out and younger me was going crazy thinking they’d finally give Lunatone and Sorlock a evo in the sun and moon based games. Younger me’s disappoint has never quite faded
For absol make the speed 100 AND give absol an ability called disaster, so that upon switchin, it sets up a 90 base power dark type physical version of future sight, which fits with the lore and theme of it. slap u-turn onto it and now we have a pokemon with a niche as a pivot that can both future sight and u-turn in one turn. As for aggron, give it sand rush and diamond storm.
Give Absol perish song and an ability which combines shadow tag with an instant kill immunity (whether from guaranteed ohko moves or things like destiny bond or perish song). Then buff its HP stat by like 70. It'll be a gimmick through and through, but it'll be an absolutely evil one that's thematically accurate.
10:35 to whoever edited this, well done. For context, the song playing is "Awe of She" from Guilty Gear and is the character theme for... Dizzy. which i now realise is in the video, oops, lmao.
Honestly, give Luvdisc Wishiwashi's ability schooling with its "school form" being a see serpent that is composed a a bunch of luvdisc following each other in a line. Its new form would have : 43 HP 65 attack 120 defence 145 spe attack 140 spe defence 107 speed
Thoughts on absol, make it a special attacker since it already has SO MANY special moves(thunder, blizzard, dark pulse, flamethrower, icy wind, snarl, etc). Like swap the SPatk and ATK stats. And maybe give it some extra bulk, then give it an ability wherein when a move affected by weather(accuracy buffs for thunder, the genie winds, blizzard, etc or dmg buffs from rain or fire boosted moves or weather ball, et ) lands, it reduces the damage both it and it partner take by 30%. Give it upperhand and fake out to both deal with priority and flinch a dangerous enemy. The reason i think this would work is despite the only stat i change being special attack, it would fit into its original theme of trying to prevent catastrophe while also still utilizing its movepool more effectively to counter weather teams. Maybe instead its ability could be while weather is active reduce dmg taken on your side by 15-25% always, so its less niche of a dmg reduction. Thoughts?
I think you definitely did a good job with Spinda. It technically should be at its best spinning around plus its stats would still be pretty poultry. Also liked the Castform buff. It probably still gets outshined but at least it would be brought up for a weather team set instead of an immediate no.
An idea for absol is a tweaked forewarn/anticipation where absol can use it's ability to alert its ally to a oncoming SE attack , so the ally would gain the filter abilities effect when tanking the Super effective hit. Aggron maybe it's ability should be some reskin of solid rock
im not much for competitive pokemon but uh aggron: one of the big things aggron is suppose to do as a pokemon is that it takes over a mountain as its territory, and then both fiercely defends it from any challengers but also will repair any environmental damage that happens to its territory like floods or fires, even planting trees afterwards. giving it moves that helps it act as a counter to terrain or weather might not be a bad niche to slot it in regarding utility. if that makes sense. after that you'd either need an ability that helps increase its survivability [ironically filter would be really helpful in that regard] or gels with its new niche i suppose. absol: absols whole shtick as a pokemon is that it can see the future through its horn and often gets mistaken as the cause of calamity. im not sure how much utility anticipation has in competitive, but it would be thematic to have as an ability. if we were to give it a unique one though i can think of two possible directions. an ability that always allows absol to avoid all two turn moves as representative of its ability to predict danger. or its reputation as a dark omen that lowers a stat, say its speed, by one stage upon entering the field.
Give aggron an ability called hardened armour were it turns his quad weaknesses to 2x, 2x into neutral and everything else just becomes resisted, basically making his only weakness fighting and ground.
I'd give Aggron an ability called Tempered Steel which would basically just be Well-Baked Body it gives Aggron an extremely useful immunity to fire while doubling it's already monstrous defense which would let it not be instantly killed by quad effective ground and fighting moves and I don't think this would be overpowered since Aggron doesn't have consistent healing along with mediocre hp and special defense
A way to change up absol and still be thematic with the whole disaster sensing thing would be an ability that procs when he enters the field and if an opponent has a super effective move against absol, it disables it, only working against one of the opponents mon and prioritizng the highest bp move
9:03 I have a cool little ability idea. I call it Refined Metal. Essentially, Aggron’s defensive properties are as if he is monotype Steel, but he still gets rock stab and sandstorm buffs.
Absol is a Pokémon that is supposed to warn its allies from disaster. My idea would give him an ability named "bad omen" that acts as a passive wide guard, where it prevent the use spread moves. Most spread moves have names and animations that looks like natural disasters, such as eruption, heat waves, bleakwind storm, glaciate, muddy water, twister, rock slide, surf or blizzard, and it would make complete sense for absol to be able to see them coming and avoid them. This would definitely give it a niche in VGC while still being relatively easy to work around, since you know, it's Absol, has a very poor bulk and isn't the fastest thing around. It would also create interesting dynamics where Pokémon such as Calyrex shadow would want it dead quickly, but attacking Absol could easily mean eating a 130 attack sucker punch.
Kinda like a counterpart to queenly magesty and quick guard, i do think there is a non zero chance some sets will be unable to attack absol because of how much more common spread moves are, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing
Aggron buffs: 1) New ability: Armor Plating (remove rock type weaknesses) 2) Gains Dragon dance and/or swords dance Getting rid of the rock type weakness while maintaining it's resistances would let aggron resist grass moves, be neutral to water, and lose both it's 4x weaknesses while still only being neutral to fire and keeping it's quad resistances to bug and normal Makes its bulk actually work effectively and also lets it set up for potential sweeps with its ok but not fantastic 110 attack Stat or go for iron defense body press sweeps
I saw someone recommend a signature ability for Absol called “Bad Luck” that basically just made the opponent’s RNG worse in every possible way, but I think a more balanced and better to play against version of that concept would be to lower the general crit chance of the opponent’s moves and null the boost or guarantee some moves have to the chance. For instance, moves like Leaf Blade & Psycho Cut will now work off the normal rate, and Wicked Blow & Surging Strikes are no longer guaranteed and also work off of the normal rate. It’s sort of like a weaker Battle/Shell Armor, but with the benefit that it applies to all Pokémon on your side of the field. And it works with Absol’s lore too, with it being a herald warning of disaster that’s misunderstood, it’s “helping keep you out of harm’s way” while the opponent perceives it as Absol “brining misfortune upon them”.
Aggron: Give it the ability "Earth Eater" This is the pokedex entry in a few games, "While seeking iron for food, it digs tunnels by breaking through bedrock with its steel horns." You could also turn him into a pseudo legendary, as I'm pretty sure 95% of us thought he was until we discovered smogon. 530bst -> 600bst HP: 70 -> 90 Attack: 110 -> 115 Defense: 180 -> 200 Sp. Atk: 60 Sp. Def: 60 -> 80 Speed: 50 -> 55
suggestions for Aggron and Absol. Aggron: give it dragon dance as an egg move from Tyrantrum and Garchomp allowing it to become a setup user, give it mega horn as well (because it's horns canonically are there to dig bedrock), in addition add a new move for a steel type head smash (let's call it steel slam) lastly replace heavy metal with earth eater giving Aggron reliable recovery (something it could use as a "bulky" mon) while taking away one of it's main problems in ground moves. we now have a setup use with high damage coverage possibilities for rock, ground, normal, dragon, bug, fighting and steel. rock head will also be getting better value out of steel slam, and the possibility to go trick room with the move curse. it will never be as good as Stakataka in much due to it being slower, bulkier and stronger with a side grade of a move pool, but now it can be viable of outclass the thing in being quicker outside of trick room, the attack increase from DD is also good because it could now surpass Stakataka's attack (if it doesn't get an attack boost from beast boost) absol: make this mon a frail crit mon like they wanted, farther increasing it's already still high attack of 130 by ignoring defense. at best case scenario give it 15 points in speed (but a down the middle option would be like 5 or 10 points in speed) as for new moves, acrobatics and agility should be given in order to show that it's suppose to be fast (for evading natural disasters), cross chop, drill run and night slash for reliable crit based attacks, buff X-scissors to have a higher crit rate. Absol is one of few that can get a 100% crit rate, with these buffs i can see banded sets going away entirely in favor of three crit moves (most likely cross chop, drill run and night slash) plus either swords dance or agility depending on if the player want Absol to be faster or stronger.
Very subtle but very important change, give Aggron a new move called "Smithing," which is simply a thematically accurate steel type recovery move akin to recover or roost. You could even add additional quirks to the move to make it most interesting if you wanted, like interactions with the fire and water type to reference the process of smithing.
I'd like to believe that there's a timeline where Game Freak gives Claydol Compound Eyes thinking it learns Hypnosis and forgetting it learns Rock Slide.
Commenting at 9:12 relating to the fan buffs. Absol should get Mind's Eye or a clairvoyance based alternative ability with a similar effect And Aggron, my boy, needs both a small stat redistribution [drop the speed and a smidge of defense for SP.DEF] and in Solid Rock as an ability, reducing damage taken by a whopping 25%.
hot castform take, even better than the given proto-buff (tho perhaps do both, it's so bad XD), just have castforms ability forcast, interact with the item, setting whichever weather the item it's holding would extend on switch in, along with that extension of course. leads to some interesting minigames (outside open teamsheets), and helps it actually fufill that all weather stuff it was designed for
Reasonable Absol Buff ideas from a guy who has been an absol for like 10 years now. Absol - Dark / Fairy (Fairy is a very fitting type as Absol has a lot of fae elements with its premonitions and role of trying to help people but getting blamed for it) Buff its special attack to 110 and buff its speed to 100. Replace pressure with super luck, replace super luck with sharpness, and replace justified with “Premonition” which is just retextured Neuroforce. The idea is that by predicting the future, Absol makes the best attack against the enemy which inflicts even greater damage. Give it all the non-signature slicing moves and all “disaster” related moves like Earthquake and Eruption. Finally, give it close combat, moonblast, nasty plot, and doom desire. I think the idea of Absol being super unpredictable and having the option of going pure physical, special, or mixed and still dishing out damage. With these changes, Absol becomes an insanely high risk high reward Pokemon with niches in both singles and vgc with its insane damage output and reward for good predictions but still not broken. Due to open team sheets, you’ll lose a ton of power due to your opponents knowing your set but with doom desire, you have a good punish to make up for it.
Aggron… Make it pure steel, give it an ability similar to multiscale, cause look at that armor platings. And move some of that defence stats to its special defence. Then maybe it would be viable as both a sweeper with autotomize/trick room. Or a bulky wall that won’t crumple to a light tap from fighting types and getting screwed over by a small ditch in the ground. Or a new ability that basically doesn’t allow corrosion to affect it.

ez fix for spinda: make all of its stats 360. Keeps the theme
spinda, destroyer of worlds
make all it's stats 36
When the user spins, omniboost, when the target spins, omninerf
makes all its stats 360 when its ho hits 1
@@mayonaise000oh no this is brilliant
Absol's lore has it warn people from disasters or bad occurrences, so what if absol's presence on the field protected your side from the secondary effect of moves? This notably affects scald, rock slide and especially fakeout.
I like using its lore so why not make it so that sucker punch when it hits an opponent it flinches if that move was targeted towards an ally so u can still utilize that high attack stat
Edit: call the ability premonition
So a team wide Covert Cloak? That's honestly pretty dope
not sure about Scald considering the distribution for that move was nerfed hard in gen 9 as its not nearly as common as it once was
maybe if it's switched in, the first time in the fight, for a still active pokemon, it grants all pokemon on your side of the field detect for the turn.
For Aggron:
1. Give it Earth Eater over Heavy Metal
2. Give it +10 attack
3. Give it Wide Guard&Quick Guard
That is the best I got, the Ground immunity is thematically fitting and and with the buffed Attack its Heavy Slams do sting quite a bit (as strong as Zamazenta) to go with its existing access to Body Press and Head Smash.
It still has a ton of weaknesses and dies to any stray fighting move but that is what Tera is for.
pokerogue reference
Or at a minimum give it Filter, which its mega form has. Would be even more useful on base Aggron since the rock typing gives it more weakness than plain Steel Type does.
metal eater
Love Earth Eater as an ability. Thematic and lore flavorful, powerful for EQ avoidance, and simple enough to implement.
Personally, I'd just introduce a custom signature move to counter that Fighting weakness. Since lore-wise it shoukd be resistant to them.
Reforge
+2 Priority status, Steel Type
The user takes x.5 damage from Physical moves for the next 5 turns.
A basic defensive boost that negates it's x4 Fighting weakness, while also letting it wall stuff like Urshifu by using a status not a stat.
i say either get rid of his rock typing or change it to ground. Atleast then he would have 2 immunities and a better defensive typing
Imagine Lunatone and Solrock had a hidden ability which sets up gravity upon entry. Suddenly they’re firing off accurate stone edge, zen headbutt and hypnosis.
That would actually be the move Telekinesis. Gravity just grounds flying-types and levitate users.
@@hyperbiscuit2284no..? Gravity also reduces evasiveness.
@@Evitzeoshowerthoughts weird. When I looked it up on Pokémon Database it just said it grounded the target. I must have misread it.

an interesting thematic new ability for absol could be "bad luck"
an ability that makes a greater chance for bad rolls on the opponents side
so lower damage rolls, less chance for crits, greater chance to miss (if accuracy was already hindered in some way), less chance for secondary effects on there moves, lower multi hit move chance, greater flinch chance, ect...
Do you take away the good rolls and only give the lower 8/16 rolls or do you make them "roll with disadvantage"?
Cool idea, but it would suck to play against.
@@Evoflare133 right? But it would further punish a 1-0 attack 'mon
Its like serene grace but the opposite
Not the accuracy debuff. 😭
Ahh, Gen 3. The land of Slow Frail Mixed Attackers
yeah, and 3 mons that really show this in my opinion are banette, seviper and absol
but gen 3 is also home to Sceptile who was the biggest casualty of the Physical/Special split from gen 4, from having access to a decent number of special moves with it being a special attacker...to now having almost no special moves to speak of from gen 4 onward
Arguably even did this with Hoopa Unbound when it was added to ORAS lmao
Jokes on you. I used both Glalie and Camerupt, and they're both great.
Give Absol an ability called Premonition that gives it priority when it's being targeted by a super effective attack
It basically turns its moves into risk free but more situational sucker punch
There's also probably a number of other pokemon you could reasonably give it to as well
Best idea yet
How would it work if im in a double battle and attack my own absol with a super effective move?
@@FancyPantaloons I think that would work. It'd be a little weird but you could still justify it thematically. It probably wouldn't be that useful anyway so it definitely wouldn't be broken
Here me out: We buff Forewarn to do THIS.
I think Castform deserves a fun new evolution that interacts with Terrain.
I propose to you Caststorm, it changes form in both weather and terrain, meaning that it can have several different dual types (and also a new sandstorm form)
Idk it sounds like a really fun gimmick
I always wonder how they couldn’t think of all of the weathers when designing a Pokemon based on weathrt
Caststorm is such a good name for an evolution
Hell yeah!!
One thing I wanted to add for Aggron is a move I'm actually using for my dream pokemon romhack (as in I'm probably never gonna develop this as a playable game, but I'm still gonna write ideas and draw designs for it)
The move doesn't have a definitive name right now, but the current wips are Shovel-Up or Excavate
And its pretty much just a physical steel type move, thats maybe 70 or 80 base power. But its special trait is that it deals super effective damage to ground types (similar to Freeze Dry's interaction with water types)
So instead of a ground type switching in on Aggron to KO it with Earthquake, they have to risk taking a strong super effective attack on the switch.
(Also worth noting that this isn't an Aggron signature move. Some other steel and non steel types in this hypothetical "game" could learn it as well)
And besides that I'd probably just give it Filter from its mega form (not sure if that would help, but eh)
Nice one, and tematically it would explain how they can dig tunnels and live in the ground, while disputing space with ground pokemons
Excavate is a badass name for a move like that
Would be a PERFECT move for excadrill
@fartgif5039 It would definitely be able to learn it
As well as other construction/digging themed pokemon could learn it as well (though only Conkledurr and Steelix are coming to mind atm)

I really like Dizzy!
My solution for Spinda was to straight up give it an evolution based on the Drunken Fist style of martial arts fighting
Zuiquanda (Zuì Quán, the 'drunken boxing' martial art style + Panda)
Normal/Fighting
Abilities: Scrappy, Tangled Feet, HA: Contrary
Stats: 90(+30)/120(+60)/90(+30)/60/60/120(+60) (540 BST i.e one and a half full rotations)
New moves: Spinning Fist (90BP Fighting, doubles in power when confused), Ice Spinner, Play Rough, Spin Out, Feint, Close Combat, Stuff Cheeks, Belch (purely thematic because it's """dizzy""" totally just dizzy and nothing else)
Notable Spinda Moves: Wild Charge, Focus Punch, Drain Punch, Sucker Punch, Thrash, Fake Out, Rapid Spin
Even with stockpile as is that sounds pretty op for an ability tbh, but I like the idea of making it smt tied to stockpile or even belch
@@Zorothegallade-gg7zg That's a great idea
@@Zorothegallade-gg7zg Or we can also give Swalot a new signature move that recycles its consumer held item as a secondary effect from attacking. "Reguritate" seems a like solid name.
@@ogopogoagogo Honestly I think you could do both, especially since Belch is super underused both in the adventure and in competitive
Change it so that swallot gets a stockpile boost whenever it consumes a berry, and change belch so that when you regurgitate the berry you actually get it back
To me this still has enough counterplay to not be op, Belch is still situational and hard to use and swallot still has bad offensive stats
But either of these ideas on their own is cool, the same way the stockpile thing is associated with swallot, I think Belch is also a move associated with swallot
7:20 Give Aggron Earth Eater
09:03 NEW ABILITY: Super Alloy - All super effective moves against Aggron hit for neutral damage.
Fits thematically
kinda like a reverse disguise
Honestlly, this would be a better concept for a rework emergency exit
Aggron buffs:
-New hidden abilitiy: Filter (replaces heavy weight)
-New ability: Psammo Tactics, It makes the user recover 1/16 of it's hp while there's a sandstorm on the field, it also makes the user immune to sandstorm (replaces sturdy)
-Take 31 from it's speed to it's special defense, now it can outspeed torkoal in trick room and it's a little more bulky on the special side.
Giving Luvdisc Friend Guard is so tragic like imagine being friend-zoned by the literal love Pokemon 😭
it loves its friends! love doesn't always have to be romantic
@@fe_three_rossesSeconded!
funny to hear you bring up friendguard for luvdisc, Recently did deisgn an evo for it that did get friend guard too cus it just felt so thematically fitting
Also for Aggron, I'd love to change its rock type to Dragon personally.
With that, you could pair Dragon Dance to give it.
If that wont work, giving it Filter on its base form would perhaps give it more of a fighting chance.
It’s been 84 years, Mr Boosted.
Absol in lore tries to warn people against disasters, so what if we give it the signature ability "Disaster Warning":
If the opposing Pokémon have a super effective move against the user or its partner when switched in, this pokemon and its partner gets their speed raised by one stage. This is maybe too broken. Maybe it's raised by two stages but only once per battle? I'm not sure
This just sounds like better Forewarning 😂😂
Unfortunate that ability sucks
Yo, this would actually be sick! Maybe have it activate once every time Absol is on the field? So you can switch into absol on a turn, have your partner Pokémon’s speed raised and move first, potentially. But if your opponent switches their Pokémon to one with another super effective attack, it doesn’t activate until absol switches out and then back in.
100% broken, it's practically guaranteed, and speed is too precious. maybe if it was def/spdef, and only affecting Absol, that could be fine.
also it's counterthematic to its identity as a physical attacker.
6:42 Pokemon Elite Redux has this exact ability, except its called "Haunted Spirit", and yes, Banette does have it.
If Darkest Lariat was undexited, I could see it being given to Spinda as a great 'Spin move'
WE’RE SO BACK 🗣️🔥🔥🔥🗣️🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
We never left though
I dont know why I am here!
Tropius needs a signature move called "that's bananas" where all pokemon on the field turn to a banana
4:12 low poly bread dog jumpscare
To me buffing Castform in two changes:
• While form changed, increases highest stat by a stage (like beast boost or paradox mon). With that flat 70 across the board, suddenly there's sooooo much more freedom.
• Should get Aurora Veil. I love the idea of more monsters (especially non-ice) getting that move to liberate snow teams
Though also giving it an evo could be fun, to also permit eviolite. I think its 420 BST is funny. If there's no evo, then blanket +10s to 480 works.
For Swalot, I'd like a new ability that gives a Stockpile when sent out, and Swallow + Spit Up buffed. Maybe even make poison move so it's like a signature. Either that or Belch can be used after Stockpile
Absol I can see Sharpness working, though if it were designed today, it'd also get a weird signature move. Maybe one that sets Perish Counter or Curse damage on hit.
Little further with your spinda idea:
"Everytime any pokemon spins, spinda also spins. With every spin spindas stats raise by 1, but have a 10% chance to confuse spinda."
So kinda like dancer with the copy?
I think a better (or realistic to be more accurate) buff for Spinda would be it receiving the Dancer ability and access to some dance attacks (probably limit some of them because if it has all, it'll just be a normal type Oricorio)
There is NO way it’s been a year This Is Insane
I would make Absol base 100/105 speed, and slap the fairy typing on it for stab playroughs, with sharpness for nightslash damage increases
And for Aggron, give it earth eater, over heavy metal, more attack, and a wider move pool for support, also maybe even slightly more special defense (like 5 at most)
I think Dizzy might be a bit too game breaking, it might be fine if it was just the boost for Spinda, but the concern would be making that omniboost available to psych up mons. I could already see a Dizzy scarf teeter dance(or any spin move for flexibility) + Tera something good CalyS w/ lum berry and psyche up on turn 1 being utterly terrifying.

I had a perfect buff for Castformed cooked the other day with a friend actually!
Martin's solrock could use the buff of losing Cosmic Power...
I love using Taunt on him
A Buff I had in mind for Castform for a while is:
Forecast now works like Drought, Drizzle, Snow Warning.
I'm imagining a physically buff Spinda (chad), and it's terrifiying.
I will take any Swallot buff I can get.
Fantastic video, one of your best. Great redesigns
8:39 Potential thematic ability for Absol:
*Disaster Sense:* _Disaster Sense_ raises the bearer's or ally's Evasiveness by one stage when they're targeted by an one-hit KO move or a move with base power 120 or above.
As we all know per its Pokédex lore, Absol does not have bad luck or bring bad luck, but "It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger." "It was mistaken as a doom-bringer."
So my thematic idea is that before Absol or its ally is hit by a strong move (120+ BP or OHKO), it raises its evasion (and/or its ally's evasion if the ally is being targeted) to try to dodge it because it senses it coming, so that 1 stage boost to evasion applies before the move is rolled to hit.
MAKE AGGRON STEEL DRAGON FOR NO REASON RAAAAAGGGHHHH
But stab headsmash :(
I've though of another way to buff Castform: (GameFreak plz listen)
Modify its ability Forecast so that when it's sent out it randomly starts rain, sun, hail, or sandstorm on the field and transforms to its respective form.
1:39 🤓👆 erm Carbink is not a psychic type
For Aggron my first thought was to give a unique ability that when it had a stat lowered, it's defense is raised by 1 stage.
So say you get intimidated, he's now got immediate defense on top of his 180 base defense. Also prevents him from having his defense lowered by opponents.
Play smart with your Terra, and you have a physical wall with access to Body Press and Metal Burst. Is it the greatest thing, no, but it has some reason for having some of the highest defenses in the game.
Ooh that’s a really cool idea!
a buff for aggron could be giving it the ability rivalry. BUT we also rework rivalry (this would also help haxorus and others with the ability)
the change would be so that the pokemon only recieves full damage from the pokemon they're targeting, otherwise, it recieves half the damage.
to picture this change imma explain it in a battle scenario.
in 2 vs 2 (vgc) aggron and grimmsnarl vs goldengho and rillaboom
rillaboom is going to use fake out against grimmsnarl, gholdengo is going to use make it rain, aggron tarets rillaboom and grimmsnarl protects.
because aggron targetted rillaboom, the rillaboom becomes aggron's rival and gholdengo's make it rain damage will be halved by the ability (this effect continues until the rillaboom is knocked out or switches out. if that happens, the next pokemon that he targets becomes the new rival). Heres the damage calc: 0hp, 0spd, AV, (the ability would be a +2spd +2def equivalent) aggron vs modest, choice specs, 252spa gholdengo make it rain is at max 52%. It doesn't even 2hko
also aggron needs an attack stat buff 'cause while looking at some calcs aggron's damage was pitiful even with adamant 252 evs
also also an idea for a new ability for pokemon who get screwed desensively by their typing is an ability that olty takes in mind the primary typing when getting hit. For example aggron keeps his rock stab but when getting hit the rock typing is ignored
These abilities are so cool!! Knowing your friend helped you make them makes it apparent how much thought was put into this!
I love your videos buffs far more than any others. They're creative, fun, not over the top, and still kept intact with the Pokemon's theming. Cant wait for more
Potential moves that could fit the spin category(causing user to spin)(from more fitting to kinda stretching the line):
-Mortal Spin(I know spinda doesn’t get it but if population bomb is boosted by sharpness so should mortal spin cause spin)
-Spin Out
-Triple axel(spin in ice skating)
-Flame Wheel
-Aura Wheel
(Below these are more based on animation and may not be accurate according how the game describes it)
-Darkest Lariat
-Breaking Swipe
-Brutal Swing
-Sunsteel Strike
-Topsy Turvy?
-U-turn(although that’s more of a half spin and would also be pointless)
-Flip Turn
You could include all the Torque moves from the StarMobile and I guess many removed moves like rolling kick or steamroller although obviously those are inaccesible for players there non legal in any format(except perhaps hackmons but hats another rabbit whole)
2:51 THE MF WHOS IMMUNE TO GROUND TYPE ATTACKS
Aggron is one of my favorite pokemon of all time. I feel like terastallization would give it a TON of grace this generation if it were there. Tera flying would just go too hard. But since it's not there and we need a more permanent fix: What if he got an ability called Steel Horns? Gives it +1 to spdef when it hits the field to shore up that a little bit, makes steel moves super effective against other steel types and ground types, making it an offensive threat to pokemon that could counter or wall it. Or maybe make it a signature move that's just super effective against both types, making it hard to switch into safely
Alternatively, it could read "all contact moves deal effective damage", getting rid of resists entirely while still being balanced so you don't score super effective hits.
Also move 15 pts of speed to spdef because got it needs all the help it can get in that area lol
These feel quite powerful to me while still maintaining true to its dex entries.
I don’t think you realize how op this would be for singles tbh
Give Absol perish song and an ability which combines shadow tag with an instant kill immunity (whether from guaranteed ohko moves or things like destiny bond or perish song).
Then buff its HP stat by like 70.
It'll be a gimmick through and through, but it'll be an absolutely evil one that's thematically accurate.
10:35 to whoever edited this, well done.
For context, the song playing is "Awe of She" from Guilty Gear and is the character theme for... Dizzy.
which i now realise is in the video, oops, lmao.
🫡🫡
To be specific, it's the Guilty Gear X version.
Honestly, give Luvdisc Wishiwashi's ability schooling with its "school form" being a see serpent that is composed a a bunch of luvdisc following each other in a line.
Its new form would have :
43 HP
65 attack
120 defence
145 spe attack
140 spe defence
107 speed
I had the exact same idea for the Forecast buff that I thought of like 2 months ago. It makes so much sense. Hope they do it in a future game.
An idea for absol is a tweaked forewarn/anticipation where absol can use it's ability to alert its ally to a oncoming SE attack , so the ally would gain the filter abilities effect when tanking the Super effective hit.
Aggron maybe it's ability should be some reskin of solid rock
im not much for competitive pokemon but uh
aggron: one of the big things aggron is suppose to do as a pokemon is that it takes over a mountain as its territory, and then both fiercely defends it from any challengers but also will repair any environmental damage that happens to its territory like floods or fires, even planting trees afterwards. giving it moves that helps it act as a counter to terrain or weather might not be a bad niche to slot it in regarding utility. if that makes sense. after that you'd either need an ability that helps increase its survivability [ironically filter would be really helpful in that regard] or gels with its new niche i suppose.
absol: absols whole shtick as a pokemon is that it can see the future through its horn and often gets mistaken as the cause of calamity. im not sure how much utility anticipation has in competitive, but it would be thematic to have as an ability.
if we were to give it a unique one though i can think of two possible directions. an ability that always allows absol to avoid all two turn moves as representative of its ability to predict danger. or its reputation as a dark omen that lowers a stat, say its speed, by one stage upon entering the field.
Aggron buffs:
1) New ability: Armor Plating (remove rock type weaknesses)
2) Gains Dragon dance and/or swords dance
Getting rid of the rock type weakness while maintaining it's resistances would let aggron resist grass moves, be neutral to water, and lose both it's 4x weaknesses while still only being neutral to fire and keeping it's quad resistances to bug and normal
Makes its bulk actually work effectively and also lets it set up for potential sweeps with its ok but not fantastic 110 attack Stat or go for iron defense body press sweeps
Aggron:
Give it the ability "Earth Eater"
This is the pokedex entry in a few games, "While seeking iron for food, it digs tunnels by breaking through bedrock with its steel horns."
You could also turn him into a pseudo legendary, as I'm pretty sure 95% of us thought he was until we discovered smogon.
530bst -> 600bst
HP: 70 -> 90
Attack: 110 -> 115
Defense: 180 -> 200
Sp. Atk: 60
Sp. Def: 60 -> 80
Speed: 50 -> 55
suggestions for Aggron and Absol.
Aggron:
give it dragon dance as an egg move from Tyrantrum and Garchomp allowing it to become a setup user, give it mega horn as well (because it's horns canonically are there to dig bedrock), in addition add a new move for a steel type head smash (let's call it steel slam)
lastly replace heavy metal with earth eater giving Aggron reliable recovery (something it could use as a "bulky" mon) while taking away one of it's main problems in ground moves.
we now have a setup use with high damage coverage possibilities for rock, ground, normal, dragon, bug, fighting and steel. rock head will also be getting better value out of steel slam, and the possibility to go trick room with the move curse.
it will never be as good as Stakataka in much due to it being slower, bulkier and stronger with a side grade of a move pool, but now it can be viable of outclass the thing in being quicker outside of trick room, the attack increase from DD is also good because it could now surpass Stakataka's attack (if it doesn't get an attack boost from beast boost)
absol: make this mon a frail crit mon like they wanted, farther increasing it's already still high attack of 130 by ignoring defense.
at best case scenario give it 15 points in speed (but a down the middle option would be like 5 or 10 points in speed)
as for new moves, acrobatics and agility should be given in order to show that it's suppose to be fast (for evading natural disasters), cross chop, drill run and night slash for reliable crit based attacks, buff X-scissors to have a higher crit rate.
I love how it plays Dizzy's theme when he name drops his new Spinda ability.
Commenting at 9:12 relating to the fan buffs.
Absol should get Mind's Eye or a clairvoyance based alternative ability with a similar effect
And Aggron, my boy, needs both a small stat redistribution [drop the speed and a smidge of defense for SP.DEF] and in Solid Rock as an ability, reducing damage taken by a whopping 25%.
hot castform take, even better than the given proto-buff (tho perhaps do both, it's so bad XD), just have castforms ability forcast, interact with the item, setting whichever weather the item it's holding would extend on switch in, along with that extension of course. leads to some interesting minigames (outside open teamsheets), and helps it actually fufill that all weather stuff it was designed for
Reasonable Absol Buff ideas from a guy who has been an absol for like 10 years now.
Absol - Dark / Fairy (Fairy is a very fitting type as Absol has a lot of fae elements with its premonitions and role of trying to help people but getting blamed for it)
Buff its special attack to 110 and buff its speed to 100.
10:36 The Dizzy theme was on point
