Yeah, seriously. Never been to prison, but I’ve been arrested and gone to jail-and I marvel at all the people who have done what I did and worse, yet still have this mindset of, “I’m a good person, I’ll never go to jail (much less prison).” You can’t say never, so you gotta be wise.
If you’re looking for a similar recommendation to this, Netflix has a documentary called “Survivors Guide To Prison” which is fantastic. It features a bunch of famous actors that go through step by step what you should do if you ever find yourself in prison. I highly recommend everyone to watch it!

People are wrongfully accused. if our government ever goes full on fascist, rights like habeus corpus or the right to a trial will be thrown out the window. All kinds of people from protestors to academics or journalists or even every day people who comment on FB could end up there. Also, if you travel overseas and make a mistake. Best to know just in case.
I'm only 13 but I know you'll understand that I don't feel that young and I've done some VERY minor things ( and one I went to court for when I was 12 ) but you make me want to stay walking the straight and narrow ( that I have been for a year ) and I'm forever grateful for your videos because I know what could happen to me if I decided to slip up again.

Is there bathroom etiquette/rules? (Can you only flush x amount each day, how often do you get to shower, do people lend out toiletries and get double back? etc.)

In the prison I work in they can only flush twice an hour, they can shower whenever they’re out of their cells but if they’re locked down it depends on state laws, most say within 72 hours, and toiletries are like the one thing you might get loaned out for less than double, bc nobody wants a bunkie who smells bad. Also in my state at least we’re required to provide them with soap, shampoo, and toothpaste every month
Sounds like hell on earth. But this is really good advice cause I do know some people over the years that have served time and they have mentioned all of these rules

Christina’s videos are great for people wanting to go into your field. It is so important to, not even for a moment, that inmates are more than a number and that they too, have feelings... just like you do. I know that seems like such an obvious thing to say, but you’d be surprised how corrupt most CO’s are. I have never been to prison, but my friends have told me some pretty wild stories. Most of which were able to be backed up because some of my friends have been locked up together and were able to vouch for each other... plus my friends aren’t liars and aren’t the type to “exaggerate” their stories, so I’d believe them regardless if they had witnesses or not. I have been to county jail once, and I got spit on for asking what time it was. I lost an incredible amount of weight while I was in there. The amount of stress I already had just from being in there, on top to how the officers treated everyone in there, completely destroyed my appetite. I wasn’t even in there for that long and when I got released, my family and friends knew something was wrong. I don’t use this word lightly, but that was one of the few of my experiences that I can without a doubt call traumatic. Even now, years since I’ve been out, I still think about how many people that are in there right this very second that are in the progress of also being traumatized. I hope you becoming a C.O. is something that makes their lives a little easier, or better. Just by doing the bare minimum, and not too, being corrupt. Or by reporting any corrupt behavior if you see any. Reporting it doesn’t mean that any action will take place to change anything, but it might and that would be a start.
I would actually see many cos playing cards with the inmates and joking around with them. Mostly the lifers or ones that had been there for extended periods of time. Some will get to be like your family and friends when you see them everyday. Then of course there are the shifty trouble makers as well. I mostly kept to myself.

My dad is an officer in the prison. He used to work in all male, then all female, then both. From what I heard he said, its pretty much the same in the male prison. But when its both, its 100x worse.
This backdrop is just 👌🏻👏🏻 We’re here for it I also think the “open case” rule is an unsaid rule for ANYONE, ANYWHERE, with ANY open case. If you’re in court with ANYTHING- shut your mouth.

I was in county and some chic tried to punk me because I was always reading to pass time. She mentioned why I always be reading, "I told her am I effen bothering anyone, no so I suggest you leave me alone" she backed up like whoa and never bothered me again. I guess I looked innocent and young.

My dad is an officer in the prison. He used to work in all male, then all female, then both. From what I heard he said, its pretty much the same in the male prison. But when its both, its 100x worse.
