@@daisymaefrench4041 that's a very oversimplified way of looking at this situation. Go take a look at the recidivism rates in Norway for example and compare that to our prison system. hhuynjin right, generally federal prisons are a split of infamous criminals involved in large crime rings, or high collar criminals like the people who insider trade, have high profile cases, etc. it’s usually when the FBI is involved, not always (from what I’ve read)

@@gypsy-nr9zd Federal prison means you comitted a federal crime, state is a state crime. But some crimes count for both, and it depends whether the US Attorney (federal) picks it up or the states attorney (state prison) does. It's a little different set up, like federal has FCI, FCC, and USP designations, so what you'd expect at a camp is a lot different than at an institution or penitentiary. OITNB is supposed to be like a camp. If you live in a smaller state and you are female, theres a good chance you will be thrown into a mixed setting with women with all types of security levels

This has really made the consider just saying "fudge it" and stop being so worried about it. I'm not the person I was and I have made something of myself and came a really long way.....but I still feel unworthy of having relationships with "worthy" people. It's a struggle! So THANK YOU!!!

This is 4 months late, but you go, girl!!! Being in prison for a time doesn't make you "unworthy" of anything or anyone. If someone really loves you and values you, they won't care if you were in prison. They'll see you for the person you are now and not for your past. Your past mistakes don't have to hold you back or make you afraid. As hard as it is, try not to worry about what people think of your history anymore. It doesn't have to affect your future. And for those of you that don’t know, these actions are very similar in most mental hospitals. “Nurses” treat you like shit and force you to do things against your will and threaten to give you shots for small things. My first night, I was told by the administration that I didn’t have to submit to any testing I didn’t want to, but when I refused to pee in a cup they threatened to put a catheter in me to get what they wanted.

I always like to joke with people, “My parents met in prison.” Because technically they did, as guards. My mom actually ended up quitting the prison & going to work for the courts because she was one of those “rare good hearted guards” you described & it occasionally got her in trouble. One time an inmate desperately begged my mom to hold her baby (on visitation day). My mom felt for her & said “ok” and handed her the baby. Before she knew it the woman took the baby & was showing it to her (inmate) friends. It was all totally innocent (she was just a proud momma) but my mom quickly got her & the baby back to the visitation area. She told my mom “I’m sorry Miss Debbie you said I could take her.” 😅 Even when she worked the courts though it made “take your kid to work” day interesting. At age 10 I found a bag of pot hidden in the courtroom. Another time I had a conversation with a very nice sex worker who said I was “a very sweet young man” & told me to “be good to your momma”. Memories... haha 😆
