Talking about how fit and ready Kurt was for the movie, I heard a story years ago, for which I have no proof for, but still like to believe. The wardrobe people were talking about how they needed Kurt in for fittings and measurements to recreate the old Snake costume. He told them something like, "No, it's ok. I've still got it, I'll just bring it in." and no one believed that he could still wear it. So to prove it, he showed up to the appointment wearing the old costume. I'm not sure if it's the original we see in the film, but I like to believe it is.

The Punisher 2004 was a great movie, but the Warzone from 2008 was a pure disaster. The first Punisher flawed that Frank Castle lost his entire family (mom, dad, wife, son, relatives) while the original Marvel Story Frank Castle is a US Marine Commander who was in Central Park, NYC not Tampa, FL or Puerto Rico. Frank Castle had a wife, son and daughter brutally murdered for witnessing mob killing in Central Park. Where did FBI came from, the Saints (these don't exist in Marvel) and Tampa and Puerto Rico. The movie was good but these are flaws for the Punisher fans. I will not go into details in the Warzone, that was a pure disaster.

Thank you again for this 10 things list. I actually saw Escape From New York when it came out here in Oregon when I was a kid and it was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time. So when the sequel came out I was there to see it opening day in the theater. And I do love it, but not as much as the original by any means. It's fun, but it's mostly a rehash of the first movie. From being suckered into taking the job, to what bugged me the most, getting shot in the same leg he got an arrow in, in the first movie at about the same point and then limping for the rest of the movie. That always bugged me. But I love his outfit. And the ending is great when he's gets one over on the entire world. That's totally Snake right there.
Anyway. Sorry to drone on. I love your videos and keep it up buddy. Every time I get a notification for a new video from you I can't wait to get home from work and watch it.

Here is some things you might not know about Cliff Robertson. "PT 109" was released while President Kennedy was in office & he personally chose Robertson to portray him. The PT boot was struck and sunk by a Japanese destroyer & had to take a long dangerous escape from the enemy. Kennedy's back was very badly injured & suffered pain from that for the rest of his life. It is a very interesting WW II film. Robertson was a good baddy in "Three Days of the Condor" opposite Robert Redford a great spy thriller.

He's is the Clint Eastwood of our generation (even though Clint Eastwood has been around for a few generations). Love this movie! I saw it at the Drive-In Theater when it came out. I had beers, herb and nostalgia. One of the best nights ever. My ex was a little younger than me so she didn't understand my excitement. Plus, it was an action movie so she wasn't all that into it. Personally I love Escape from NY, it is one of my favorite movies of all time and I think I've watched it over 100 times...however Escape from L.A., I saw just once in the theater when it first came out and that was it. I am glad I saw Escape from L.A. but it was the one John Carpenter movie I felt completely missed the mark. The first movie was grounded in a dark world of a prison city, LA felt like a campy comedy fest with unbelievable and over the top action sequences that had me rolling my eyes instead of cheering for Snake.

I reckon they dropped the date so that people wouldn't confuse the movie with "2013: La Fortezza" (the Italian title for Stuart Gordon's "Fortress").

I watched this in the cinema with one of my best mates. We were both massive fans of the original movie and despite this one not being as good as that we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We laughed hysterically when we realised that Sargent Stadanko was filling the Lee Van Cleefe role from the orginal. Wwe seriously geeked out at Escape From L.A. but most other folk in the half empty theatre seemed bored and very confused about why we were laughing so much at the movie, they had no idea 🤣 We did think a 3rd movie may be on the cards with all the talk of Cleveland in Escape From L.A. and kept our eyes open for it but it never materialised. I'm glad Carpenter didn't do Escape From Mars as Ghosts of Mars was pretty awful, from the 90s onwards most of his film were poor. It's no wonder he gave it up and did music shows like an elderly Synth Rock Star, good on him! He's a Legend in my book. I often re-watch Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China as I love them both. They Live and The Thing are both awesome too, but modern Capenter flicks, forget about it.

It’s really not a great movie. If Kurt Russel isn’t in it it wouldn’t have any following. It’s just that snake is so revered. And justly so. Without Kurt LA, would be complete garbage

I actually like this movie. I thought it was well done and I love how it was shot.
Kurt Russell's snake character is so bad ass and awesome.
I don't even care if critics hated it, because usually when they hate a movie, I know
I'm gonna like it. 99% of the time do I ever agree with critics. It's a very slim chance,
I make sure if critics hate a movie, I will usually watch it to see for myself if I like a
movie. Never rely on crusty white old men to tell you if a movie is good or not.
It's also weird watching movie set in the future and that future never happened. LOL.

    Hey, Minty
There's another bonus entry that you didn't include in this review:
The costume that Kurt Russell wore in "Escape From L.A." was the exact same costume that he'd worn in "Escape From New York" 15 years earlier, without having any alterations done to it in order for Kurt to fit in it

Escape From the Retirement Home could be hilarious! I loved the Escape From films. Fun fact, I watched them out of order when I first discovered them. So LA had a bit of extra nostalgic goodness, and New York was just great. Anyone who says they couldn't see an old, crookbacked Plisken beating someone into oblivion with a walker is just wrong.
