    Russell has always come off as a genuinely nice guy. He also has always provided quality performances in every one of his movies and has avoided the trappings of life in the public eye. He really seems like the kind of guy you could have a beer with and just listen to some of his stories.

      Studios have been making fresh stuff, audiences usually always turn against it in favor of something already existing which is why sequels and reboots are all the rage now, even more so than ever before.     "John was never quite satisfied with the last scene."
    How!? The Thing has one of THE most perfect endings I've ever seen in a movie. It's so ambiguous and paranoid that people are _still_ arguing about it four decades later. It's godlike.

      Because Carpenter didn't want the movie to end on an ambiguous note. That's what Kurt meant when he said John didn't want to bring the movie back to square one but admitted that was the only way the movie could end.

      Omg thank you I agree fully usually i can say why I like a movie but 3 of his movies are honestly the greatest movies I've ever watched and I don't even know the reason whether its because of him or the movies he picks to act in are just legendary its unbelievable. Funny that you mentioned it I still know a lot of people that never did see that movie… I try and make sure that they do ! 😄 Just found my copy of “Soldier” unpacking a box of DVD’s last night, I haven’t seen it in about 5 years now but I used to watch it every few weeks. I totally love that movie and all the other Kurt Russell classics. He just plays those types of characters absolutely perfect. Legendary actor, Once you see him in a particular role you never forget it.

    For me, Carpenter and Russell are one of the most iconic Director/Actor pairings in cinema. They collaborated on some of my favourite movies of all time and were such a big presence in my teenage years and early twenties. Huge, huge respect for these guys.

    One of the greatest actors of his generation. The Thing is an all time favourite movie that STILL holds up today with it's atmosphere and special effects. It's John Carpenters best film he's ever done hands down.

    Met Kurt Russell on the set of Used Cars, he came and sat down with us, the extras, and played Liars Poker with us. I was a big fan already since I was a kid and him doing this made me think he was the most awesome person ever. He was just a regular guy hanging out, and oh yeah a superstar.

    He omitted that his son Wyatt had previously played the younger version of his own character in Soldier (1998). This is one of the few videos like this that definitely needs a part 2. Kurt Russell is fascinating to listen to, and I'd like to hear him talk about more of his movies.

I think it's cool to see them in Monarch together. Soldier & Sisu both had main characters who didn't have a lot of lines. Made a big impact on both movies.

He's also mentioned multiple times that he refuses to do a sequel or prequel if the original writer/director isn't in it. My favorite interview of his?     “The Thing” is one of the ten best movies of all time. People dismiss it as a horror movie, when in reality it’s so much more than that. It’s doesn’t scare you. It creates a permanent state of uneasiness. The music is amazing as well. It drives the atmosphere of the film. Can’t say enough about that movie.

    I've been saying it for years that Kurt has by far the biggest ranges as an actor in all of Hollywood. He crushes absolutely any role he's in no matter how diverse the character is. Would have loved to hear more about some of his other early non-Carpenter/Tarantino roles such as Captain Ron and Overboard and how he's able to transition to completely different film genres so effortlessly.

    Kurt's Santa is my favorite movie Santa of all time! He had such a young at heart, fun, sometimes stern, but always compassionate vibe about him. Tons of humor and a genuine twinkle in his eye! My favorite scene is when he's in jail with all of the "bad guys" and you knew they were probably all supposed to be on the naughty list but Santa loved them anyway and Kurt played that aspect of Santa brilliantly! I wish they would have given us more of what Kurt had to say about that role because it's my favorite role of his! I'm super glad to see he was so proud of it!

    Kurt Russell is truly one of the greatest actors of his era and authentically sharp as a whip. He has always been refreshingly unpretentious and delivers great performances regardless of any particular production's budget. Many Disney Golden Age child actors had industry success, but few became iconic performers like Kurt Russell.

      I didn't like it when I first saw it, but then I saw Mario Van Peeble's "SOLO" and discovered a newfound appreciation for Russel's Soldier. Even though Soldier came out 2 years after SOLO, I saw Soldier first, and boy oh boy, was SOLO a brick of sh*t.

    I worked on 'Swing Shift' the film he and Goldie fell in love on. Took a chance once and walked into the makeup trailer knowing I could be fired to talk with him a bit. Was so down to earth, gracious guy, as he was with everyone always on set.
    Been too one of my favorite actors to this day.
    My best friends uncle Rob Botin created the special effects for The Thing. Now 'that' is the set I would have loved to be on.

    Tombstone...came out when I was in college...instant classic all over my dorm, we quoted it for months! Hands down one of my favorite movies...

      Tombstone and the bestest dvd twinpac ever Silverado/The Quick And The Dead goosebumps every time I watch them. Unforgiven, Rio Lobo, Sons Of Katie Elder, El Dorado, Hateful Eight, original True Grit, either Magnificent 7, and yeah, Mad Max, anything Eastwood spaghetti, best westerns ever, just the first three were perfect movies.

    A great approach to artistic integrity. Already loved Kurt, but my admiration for him shot up. For my 'film I wish was on here'- Silkwood. Kurt's low-key performance as a frustrated but supportive husband, sparring off Meryl Streep, is brilliant.

    Just when i thought Kurt couldnt get any cooler, he provides an incredibly well thought out answer why he hasnt been engaged with video game or other efforts to capitalize on his iconic characters. THE BEST.

    "Breakdown" & "Soldier" were two great flicks and two excellent underrated performances by him. In the 90s he did some amazing gems, also Backdraft was great

      Totally. Watched it for the first time a few months ago expecting it to be an average 90s action flick and bhoy did it surprise me. One of the best action films I've ever seen. The tension throughout that film.

    The Thing is a nearly perfect movie, and I saw Tombstone the day it came out (XMas Day). I love that he always dodges how much credit he really deserves for Tombstone. He seems very unusually chill and cool for someone who has essentially been in the movies his whole life. Just a super, iconic performer!

    I really appreciated being able to hear Kurt speak about his films, I found myself wishing this were longer! He's one of those actors that I grew up watching. Tombstone, Stargate, Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, so many more. He'll always be one of my favorites.

    Hearing him talk about speaking to writer of tombstone and having in depth discussions with carpenter… not only is it clear he was a team player but that he was fascinated by the whole of the craft of moviemaking. (Doesn’t always seem to be the case with actors, even actors who have been around as long as him) *nice to hear someone not using this series as an excuse to talk about themselves.
