Kurt Russel in "Breakdown" (1997) was an amazing movie
very underrated. His performance perfectly captured that helpless, anxious and desperate feeling.
That was by far one of his best films ever. 👍

Studios have been making fresh stuff, audiences usually always turn against it in favor of something already existing which is why sequels and reboots are all the rage now, even more so than ever before. Why push new, original content when we can just keep making a new Batman film every 3 years

His almost completely silent acting in "Soldier" is criminally underrated.
Omg thank you I agree fully usually i can say why I like a movie but 3 of his movies are honestly the greatest movies I've ever watched and I don't even know the reason whether its because of him or the movies he picks to act in are just legendary its unbelievable. I hope one day people recognize him as one of the top actors of all time.

I never knew how much I love Kurt. What a genuine dude.
Kurt's Santa is my favorite movie Santa of all time! He had such a young at heart, fun, sometimes stern, but always compassionate vibe about him. Tons of humor and a genuine twinkle in his eye! My favorite scene is when he's in jail with all of the "bad guys" and you knew they were probably all supposed to be on the naughty list but Santa loved them anyway and Kurt played that aspect of Santa brilliantly! I wish they would have given us more of what Kurt had to say about that role because it's my favorite role of his! I'm super glad to see he was so proud of it!

How!? The Thing has one of THE most perfect endings I've ever seen in a movie. It's so ambiguous and paranoid that people are _still_ arguing about it four decades later. It's godlike.

Because Carpenter didn't want the movie to end on an ambiguous note. That's what Kurt meant when he said John didn't want to bring the movie back to square one but admitted that was the only way the movie could end.

Russell has always come off as a genuinely nice guy. He also has always provided quality performances in every one of his movies and has avoided the trappings of life in the public eye. He really seems like the kind of guy you could have a beer with and just listen to some of his stories.
My buddy met Kurt at an airshow in San Diego, and then ran into him again a few months later in a tavern. Kurt sill remembered his name. What a guy..
This man’s name will be carved in Hollywood forever, One of the true treasures of 80s cinema and beyond.

I watched The Thing in a theater in Melbourne Fl on opening weekend. I gathered all my friends and went back on Saturday to watch it again. I have no idea how many times I have watched it since.

ME & MY GIRL AT THE TIME SAW THAT MOVIE 9 TIMES. MY GIRL GOT TIRED AFTER 2X'S, BUT I HAD TO BE REAL SWEET TO HER TO GET HER TO COME WITH ME THEM OTHER TIMES. I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE MOVIE, EVERY TIME I SAW SOMETHING I DIDN'T SEE BEFORE.

I like quite a few of his movies and Pulp Fiction is pretty much a masterpiece, but Tarantino is not in the same ballpark and conversation as someone like Carpenter.

Yeah. I did not like Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. I found it long and boring. Was not a fan of that one. Watched it once, will not watch it ever again unless I go over to someone's house and they happen to be watching it when I get there. I would not go over there to watch it on purpose. I will stick to getter Tarantino movies like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs.

To me, he has always been at his best playing characters under extreme stress. Unlawful Entry, Breakdown and Executive Decision are some of my favorites that highlight that perfectly.

Kurt Russell's Santa is my favourite live action one, that movie made my Christmas that year so much more bearable.
For a guy who started as a child actor like 60 years ago, he's surprisingly down to earth.
One of the few who survived and prospered.

Because it's unique. Those two characters facing off to each other throughout the film, and then to meet up at the end the way they do. It's open ended, but the best of endings.

One of the greatest actors of his generation. The Thing is an all time favourite movie that STILL holds up today with it's atmosphere and special effects. It's John Carpenters best film he's ever done hands down.

"The Thing" is one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
I watched Kurt grow up with Disney movies, and a stint on Gilligan's Island. He played baseball with the Portland Mavericks when his Father, Bing, was the owner. Enjoy watching his career in theatrical movies and watch them all, multiple times every year. You can't go wrong watching anything he has appeared in!!!
I love his take on iconic characters and not bleeding them for money.

Favorite actor! Great at acting but he seems like a genuine great guy!! Saw an interview when he wasn’t working, the interviewer was rude asking why he wasn’t working, and Kurt politely said that’s the business. Always respected that moment. ❤
I always got a “kick” out of the fact that Kurt Russell was the kid who kicked Elvis in the shin in ‘It Happend at the Worlds Fair’ and then ended up playing him in the first Elvis biopic and voicing him in Forrest Gump.

Kurt, in one word, is iconic! He really is one of the more down the earth actors. His personality as a person just shines. You can tell how he has real passion as an actor to this day. I was like whoa when I learned that he was in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and loved to hear him talk about working with his son. I respect the family dynamic and think that is so cool. You can tell Wyatt was raised well being someone truly following in his fathers footsteps. In The Christmas Chronicles he really shined as Santa which those movies are at the top of my list for my favorite Christmas movies. I really loved and totally agreed with his out look about Santa Claus!
For such an impressive career, I still think his role of John Ruth in Hateful 8 is by far his best role ever. Just incredible.

The Thing is a nearly perfect movie, and I saw Tombstone the day it came out (XMas Day). I love that he always dodges how much credit he really deserves for Tombstone. He seems very unusually chill and cool for someone who has essentially been in the movies his whole life. Just a super, iconic performer!
Every interview i have ever seen with Kurt is the most genuine person i have seen as a hige actor. Just no pretension in his view of his career, and its always a treat to see.
Every studio ESPECIALLY DISNEY should watch this cause when he says “let’s not try to bleed off of an iconic character but let’s go create a new one” that really hits hard and true

I've always loved and respected this man's acting integrity and artistry. He's also mentioned multiple times that he refuses to do a sequel or prequel if the original writer/director isn't in it. My favorite interview of his? "I'm an actor, a clown, I entertain not educate - I'm not interested in preaching politics. I'm interested in entertaining people with great characters." (To paraphrase)
An ironic statement considering he played Dexter Riley in several films for Disney.

For me, Carpenter and Russell are one of the most iconic Director/Actor pairings in cinema. They collaborated on some of my favourite movies of all time and were such a big presence in my teenage years and early twenties. Huge, huge respect for these guys.

Met Kurt Russell on the set of Used Cars, he came and sat down with us, the extras, and played Liars Poker with us. I was a big fan already since I was a kid and him doing this made me think he was the most awesome person ever. He was just a regular guy hanging out, and oh yeah a superstar.
He omitted that his son Wyatt had previously played the younger version of his own character in Soldier (1998). This is one of the few videos like this that definitely needs a part 2. Kurt Russell is fascinating to listen to, and I'd like to hear him talk about more of his movies.

@@SuperFlawless2010 My point is that this is not the first time this has happened, as he states. Of course, he may be referring to both roles being major, whereas in Soldier, his younger role is a bit part, and it may explain why he overlooked it.
I'm just miffed they didn't get him to talk about Soldier at all. I think it's a pretty underappreciated movie.
@@LordBaktor It's one of the reasons I want a part 2. He had less than 100 lines of dialog in that movie, and was able to emote amazingly through it. Definitely underrated. And one of my favorites, Overboard, is apparently not iconic to others either.
@@throatwobblermangrove8510 Soldier & Stargate are my favorite movies that were not mentioned. I had no idea his son played his younger self in Soldier. I think it's cool to see them in Monarch together. Soldier & Sisu both had main characters who didn't have a lot of lines. Made a big impact on both movies.

Kurt played so many memorable characters and was in so many memorable movies it is really hard to believe. One of my favorite actors and a guy deserving of some type of lifetime award as mentioned below,

Russell has always sat firmly in my top three actors of all time. This breakdown has cemented that even more.
No controversies, no arrogance, just a guy doing his thing.
The definition of a working actor. He speaks confidently of his accomplishments but recognises he's a tool used in the creation of art, and not art incarnate.
Real actors understand they're not the painting, but the brush. They understand the value in that.

I am now watching the movie Breakdown with Kurt Russell as the lead. What a great performence. He should got nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the movie. Such an underrated jam! 👍

Kurt Russell is such a badass in all of his movies. I was born in 94 and even I watched Big Trouble in Little China, he was BADASS.

I worked on 'Swing Shift' the film he and Goldie fell in love on. Took a chance once and walked into the makeup trailer knowing I could be fired to talk with him a bit. Was so down to earth, gracious guy, as he was with everyone always on set.
Been too one of my favorite actors to this day.
My best friends uncle Rob Botin created the special effects for The Thing. Now 'that' is the set I would have loved to be on.

Gotta love Kurt Russell. He’s totally a one of a kind actor with a great sense of humor and has been in numerous, memorable movies. Would like to see a part 2 episode, covering some of his other great films.
I'll never understand how The Thing bombed at the box office/reviews, this is one of (if not) the best monster movies of all time.
only because it came out around the same time as E.T. which had way more marketing and without the internet thats really all you had to go by. When you have 2 aliem type movies most non horror lovers are gravitating towards E.T.
If it came out now then it would savaged even more by the critics because of the all male cast. That’s a big no-no these days.
If the internet was back then it would have been those movies with like 25% critic score and 100% consumer score. It was a hard movie to rent. It was out or if you got one it was played out and poor quality.

My son loves the chronicles movies. I'm glad they broke that down because its a very underrated movie.
It's one of those movies you just watch for christmas time now. Its up there now as a modern classic.

Totally. Watched it for the first time a few months ago expecting it to be an average 90s action flick and bhoy did it surprise me. One of the best action films I've ever seen. The tension throughout that film.
