Reactions like this are a precious resource. It truly is a pleasure to see someone get sucked in as quickly as I did when I first heard them. Experiencing sleep token for the first time through someone else is amazing. You will find that each song is different and to not hold too many expectations. Highly recommend doing a first to last play through starting at either their EP One or at Sundowning. Either is good. The reason why I recommend this is that they have a lyrical and musical concept running from beginning to end through their work so far. Enjoy!

i've watched hundreds of reactions to Sleep Token and this is instantly one of my favorites. It's amazing that you discovered them on your own, was absorbed into the song--catching all the small intricacies, and you're going to explore them on your own, so you can fully immerse yourself in it. The song choice was perfect....in my opinion, everything they've done is good, but I feel like there seems to be a 'key' for Sleep Token, and it's not the same 'key' for everyone--a song that just makes it all click. And I feel like you might have found your key to Sleep Token on the very first song you decided to check out from them (one that unfortunately doesn't have enough reactions out there to it)...this was awesome to watch!
I have fallen I love with this bands music recently. They wear mask and are anonymous. The singer goes by Vessel and the drummer is 2 but in Roman numerals ii. They are the 2 founding members. Everything but the drums are done by Vessel then drum and writing drum parts goes to ii. The have a bass player and lead guitarist for when they perform live. Bassist goes by iii (3) and lead guitarist is iv (4). Im here for it. 😊❤

Go down the Sleep Token rabbit hole! Its a fusion band at its best! Metal roots, branching into hip-hop, R&B, and jazz with gospel influence. You gotta try them out more.

Sleep Token is an anonymous, masked band which has a lore. The band doesn't do any interviews really and therefore don't actually explain much about their individual background, however one thing they have explained was their origin story.
It is said that the main vocalist (Vessel) has been visited in his dream by an ancient deity, which he refers to as "Sleep". This deity has promised him glory and prosperity in return for his devotion and loyalty. Apparently, Sleep has send him on a mission to lure as many people into its cult as possible. In order to do that Vessel has created the band and all members are just as devoted to the deity as he is. Which is why they all function as "vessels" for this ancient deity. It is all not an actual cult or anything like that, so dont worry. It is just a marketing thing, but the members take it VERY seriously. Their music is said to be a token to this deity...thats why they are called Sleep Token.
The vocalist is technically Vessel I, the drummer is Vessel II, the bassist is Vessel III and the guitarist is Vessel IV, however aside from Vessel I all the other instrumentalists are just referred to by their numbers, so II, III and IV. the drummer II has an AMAZING hour-long play through/interview of some of their biggest songs uploaded on the Drumeo channel, as well as 2 or 3 other uploads on the sleep token channel if you're interested in that. He is truly phenomenal and fascinating to watch!
Lyric-wise it is very smart because they basically (according to MOST interpretations) write songs about love and relationships, which can also be interpreted as Vessel simply worshipping Sleep...
Sonically the band is known for very atmospheric builds, huge epic choruses, lots of RnB/Pop influence, jazz, funk, prog metal, alternative, acoustic stuff too they kinda do it all and Vessel has the talent to somehow make these different genres blend well while maintaining a unique sound as a band...idk he is truly gifted.
they do have some heavy songs or at least heavy parts within some songs, but they aren't your typical metal band for sure
the heavier stuff would be something like Gods, Vore, The Summoning, Hypnosis, Ascensionism (partially), The Offering (partially), Higher (partially), maybe Chokehold and High Water?
they have some GREAT RnB and pop stuff that could easily top the charts as well like Granite, Sugar, Aqua Regia, Rain, The Apparition, Atlantic, The Love You Want, Fall For Me, Descending, Like That
they got Ballads as well and their first two EPs were very dark, spooky, artsy and atmospheric AF
You should definitely listen to more. You will not be disappointed! Every song takes you on roller coaster ride. They are truly amazing. I just saw them live and it was incredible

Do it. You wont be disappointed. The Apparition is off the latest album, Take Me Back To Eden which is the third album of a trilogy. I have definite favorites. This band is genius at blending genres. There can be R&B, Rock, Metal and Pop all in one song and it blends perfectly. This might be my favorite band currently. They just wrapped up a headlining tour of the US and are touring Canada and they're about to go back overseas. They're anonymous but we do know they're from London, England.

You nailed it with your interpretation of the meaning. It's a person who had feelings for someone so hard and were hurt so bad in the past, that even decades later it haunts them in their sleep. They don't remember the details but they remember the feeling and relive it in their dreams. Something I think we can all relate to if you've lived long enough. If you want to see the drummer perform the beats you should watch II (two, his stage name) on Drumeo.

Duuuude I know what you mean about listening to the instruments changing things. I never paid attention to drumming before, it was all a mess of noisy cymbals and thumps, but after watching the offerings by their drummer II on Sleep Token’s RUclips channel I have a new appreciation for it. He is such a master of his craft and makes it look so effortless! And his interview with Drumeo was incredibly fascinating!
Also if you start from their early stuff and work forward, you can really hear Vessel’s voice develop over time. He was always good but you can tell he never stopped improving. Hell I saw them live for the first time last week and was blown away by how he is STILL growing his versatility and depth of his voice, even a year out from their latest album release!
Enjoy your research! I love Sleep Token and feel the same exact way when I listen to them. Each song is an experience. I have been blessed to see them live 3 times in the past year.

Every single song is a banger from these guys, and the fanbase is some of the most invested fans for any band. All 3 albums are one story, a trilogy. Sundowning is the first album, Tomb is my personal favorite album

Vessel's lyrics have been messing with my head for years! Welcome to the rabbit hole! They are their own genre. Each song is different and everything from screaming metal to heartbreaking acoustic with some rap and jazz dropped in. Not even going to attempt to get into the lore here. The drummer ii is next level and has done some playthroughs and a video with Drumeo with other playthroughs and a very very rare interview. As for other songs, can't go wrong with whatever you choose! Worship!

lol, you have entered the realm of a god tier band and be thankful for this life changing experience. They have a 3 album trilogy and I'd strongly recommend starting from the beginning and I make that suggestion for a specific reason as you will totally understand when you reach the end of the third album. There are songs on the first 2 albums that I didn't care for, like the Sleep Token was fleshing out their sound but by the time you hit the third album they have figured out the matrix and gift you with IMHO the best album of all time with nothing in existance as a close second. :D

i see other people have already explained the band's names but i haven't seen anyone explain that they're all vessels to a god called sleep (vessel the singer is technically vessel1, drummer is vessel2, etc, but they've all been shortened to vessel, ii, iii, and iv). so my personal take on the song is that vessel lost someone, probably to death, and Sleep lets him visit this person in dreams. which is why when he's dreaming, he's happy "let's make trouble in the dream world, hijack heaven with another memory" but upon waking he's in a "suicide frenzy" and begging "let me go or take me with you"
