these are great products; I have a set and discovered these after I suffered a shoulder impingement which curtailed working out for several weeks. so, i was glad to discover these in a Facebook ad and promptly ordered them. Also - for safety, recommend loading the barbell with some weight so that the bar won't be dislodged and fall on you if the Mad Spotter accidentally hits the barbell as you push up.
I’ve used this type of Dumbbell Hooks for years since they were made by Country Power and I love them! Low tech and easy to use! I’ve loaded them with 100lbs no problem! I like that the Mad Spotter version is coated to protect the barbell! Great review Marcus!
I would like a pair of these eventually. Carrying dumbbells over and kicking them up definitely zaps me a bit. Cool product reviewed by an awesome orator.
I have these hooks and like them. When I was younger I didn't need them but after some injuries these are very helpful. I will say, just like most other things in the gym, you still have to be careful using them. Unlike traditionally dropping the dumbbells on the floor these rack above your head. The other day I was doing incline presses with 80s and at the end of my set I almost missed re-racking one of them when it was over my head.
Yeah I wondered that too, or maybe if you miss the barbell going back and don’t get it hooked. Never used these just seems like it could happen because every once in a while I miss the j cups with a barbell
@@carps_gym It certainly could happen, especially if you're pushing towards failure. Setup is key though, as you want to ensure you don't have the bar in your rep path and that your floor area is clear to drop, just as you would in a commercial gym.
@@twistedbarbell3950hey Marcus do you think you could end up dropping the dumbbells on your front foot extensions and damaging them if you end up not being able to finish a rep at failure? I have the extensions too and I would think the dumbbells would fall right down on them if I had to drop them
Biggest issue going heavy with DBs at home. Items like this open up this possibility again. Does the extra handle thickness affect you at all? For me, small hands, DB handles are already thick enough... But guess for pressing it's probably o.k.
Exactly Gavin, not much of an issue for pressing. You’ll notice at first and it may even feel awkward, but you quickly get used to it and stop noticing. I too have hands with short fingers, but it doesn’t factor in for me.

Thanks as always brother
Thank you for quick and efficient review! Well done and to the point.
Thanks for watching
Glad to see another great video from you brotha!
Appreciate that Mark
Thank you so much for the review.
My pleasure Chris

Thanks Phil.
Solid insight, love the Fugees in the begining.
Good catch! Glad it wasn’t long enough to get flagged
Commenting for the algorithm. I liked this.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
These are a game changer. I own and love them. Should be standard for the exercise.
Agreed Nick and thanks.
Great video. I might just have to get these since i just started using my dbs more. I need to look into how they interface with the db more though
Thanks

Good point, one def has to re hook with care.
It would be interesting to see how they behave when you fail and have to drop them.
They would likely just fall off. The only thing keeping them attached is the weight of the DB and your grip.

Love the content! off topic question what elbow sleeves are you using ? Look comfy
Thanks and those are Stoic elbow sleeves.
Marcus, it looks like a great tool. I doubt dropping them would damage anything, especially if your not throwing them down uncontrolled.
Exactly and they’re absolutely a great tool. Without them, I’d limit myself to just my maxed out Select-tech 552’s, instead of these 75’s
Very cool idea for the home gym. Plus getting that weight up from your lap is a pain
Really is a pain
Sucks they don’t work on the LA FITNESS DUMBELLS!!!!! Because of the higher point at the end!!!
That is a bummer!
Question; does the mad spotter pro include the Velcro straps like the 2.0?
They come with the foam grips that close with Velcro, for wrapping around DB handles.
Hello!
Could you write what is the thickness of the rod used in these handles ?
Is it 6 millimeters or 8 millimeters ?
Thank you
Looks to be about a quarter inch.

@@twistedbarbell3950 Cheers dude. Good to know.
I have the earlier version.
Nice, how do they differ?
@@twistedbarbell3950 It doesn’t have a knurled cradle and a wrap that goes around the dumbbell and spotter.
Looks neat but a little pricey.
I thought so at first, but we’ll worth it when you consider the trouble they can save you if preventing an injury
if you're poor Can get it free if you DIY some rbar into hooks. Otherwise these are game changers for dumbells work.
