I was wondering how do maintain your muscle mass. I trying to gain muscle strength but with protein shakes and they have other ingredients that flare up my inflammation. dairy, sugars and sodium diet are what I try and focus on.
Do u still have varices or do u feel unbalanced at times.
Yeah light flashes before our eyes.
Should we believe what Drs say that a decompensated fibrosis is not fixable?.
Are u still taking meds?
Are u able to go back to work. Before I got diagnosed I wanted to go back to work especially since my kids r 14.

@@twinkle533 hey there! I understand. Have you tried eating lean meats? Beans? Anything that has protein like fish, beans, Greek yogurt, etc? It's essential for out livers and especially late at night before bed. You need to consume protein before going to sleep so that your liver can try and repair itself. I do still have varicese unfortunately and I do think that they are correct. It's not what I want to think either, but the evidence is out there. I don't think there is a conspiracy to keep us sick. I really do think the Dr's want what is best for us and want to help us heal. We can continue to live with ld and prosper. It might not be the most ideal of circumstances, but it's worth fighting for, that's for sure!!!! I do still take my meds every day and I take a lot!!!! I have come a long way from where I started and I do believe it's from the help of my wonderful medical team! They have helped me tremendously! There has been a lot of will that I have had to muster through all of this though as well, mind of matter. It really can be life changing when we believe that things will improve! Do you take any supplements. I am taking milk thistle and dandelion tea at times to help manage my water retention.
At night i did have nuts. But stopped.
I was getting ammonia. Plus my GGT was 108.
Platelets go down to 77. Which im seeing a internal medicine specialist.
Basically since my ER, experience my hemoglobin works r waked out.

Did you have blood transfusions after 2020? I was so upset that I couldn't donate blood and designate it for my daughter. I'm one that doesn't believe in the2020 jabs. That all
made it way more stressful being concered for her health.

Yeah, once you get to the point where you can routinely drink huge amounts without it giving you the spins and making you throw up violently, it's time to get off the ride, because the longer you stay on it it just gets progressively worse and harder to quit.

As a young adult. I was scared to death with anything that included any doctors, doctor's appointments, procedures or anything relating to going to any hospital. I was petrified and would get anxious and even panicky. How things have changed. Since my diagnosis June 2023, all that has changed. Going to the doctors, procedures and going to the hospital on many occasions is what my life is all about these days. I actually look forward to going. One can either have a bad attitude or a good one. I enjoy it. Why not like going? I even pick on the residence students. I have got an advanced degree in End Stage Liver Disease. Since I have it, I wanted to know all there is about it. Can't say I enjoy some of the procedures but if I have to have it done, so be it. Getting a needle jabbed in your gut without any local anesthesiology for a liver biopsy was NOT fun. When I told some nurses about that, their reply was, 'that's brutal!' Getting tapped isn't exactly pleasant, yet I feel so much better after the procedure. It is well worth it. Hepatic Encephalopathy is downright scary. I had to be hospitalized for that 3 times and that was just in the last few months. Thanks LD for providing this forum for us. I don't feel so alone anymore.

You've mentioned 'Chasing the Dragon' before.. which is spot on. But for me it was like tryna maintain a BAC level to Run From the 'Depression Dragon'.. Like a feedback loop of depression that you use Alcohol to fix but also causes depression/hangxiety..
I'm just so glad that you were able to recognize that it wasn't serving you, and that you're free now! 🎉🎊🎉❤️ I used it similarly. I was always avoiding my anxiety, but it made me so unproductive and secluded, that every day I ran away from it with drinking, the avoidance brought me deeper into my anxiety/depression. I'm celebrating with you our freedom from that cycle! 🎉🎊🎉😊

Your right about constantly reminding ourselves to stay the course. I have to do it several times a day and I've been sober 15 months . I hope more people take your message to heart, cause if it gets this far we are dead men walking. Each day is a struggle to stay alive and just get by let alone live and be free of it.

Just thinking about your busy weekend and the plans for company Sunday afternoon.
My guess is that just 3 years ago, you wouldn't be able to do this, because you would have been totally out of it, getting smashed as you've described. If the event happened at all, you probably wouldn't have been mentally there.

That is SO right, Craig!!! I was in a similar boat! 3 years ago, even if I forced myself to be sober for a family event, I wouldn't be present because I'd be both thinking about how much I wished I was home drinking, and I'd likely be suffering from an all day hangover. The freedom we experience from those nagging thoughts now and enjoying each day not stuck in the haze of a hangover... and most importantly, being an active, present, and loving presence in our friends and family's lives is SUCH a gift!!! Hello, alcoholic here. Id recommend doing both meetings and RUclips videos. Many alcoholics feel introvert, or uncomfortable. I dislike talking to people and dread sharing in AA but the alternative is a poisoned life.

You can absolutely step away from that lifestyle, and if that's something that you want, then you're in the right place! I used to binge drink alone, so I totally get how you get there and what you may be feeling like it does for you. But I learned the hard way that it wasn't serving me. If you want support, then know that there are plenty of people here who would love to support you and cheer you on!! ❤️😊

I have had custody of Ron's son Austin (long story)since he was in 5th grade. He turned 18 one month before Ron died. He wanted to remain with me just bcoz it's "home". He was still in school and has quit school. Then we lost his dog. Austin is refusing professional help.
So if you can't sober up for yourself....look into the eyes of your children.

Truly an inspiration brother, I’ve been going back on the booze on and off every other week or so. The guilt gets to me every time. Going to try and lay low for a while so I don’t put myself in a situation that I would normally drink in. Like you said one day at a time. God bless you and the community 🙏🏻

I never want to go back to that old life and having to have a drink first thing in the morning before I could function. Like you, I had alot of time to think about things while laying in a hospital bed scared out of my mind and wondering how I got there. Nights were the worst as my room was at the end of the hall, so unless someone was coming into my room I never saw anyone which gave me alot of time to self reflect! I can honestly say one of the best things I have ever done is click on your first video a week after that horrible time in the hospital. You and this community have changed my life! I am super excited about the discord, I think it will be a great thing! I am good with you saying my name. Thank you for all that you do!

I never get to spend real time living with my loved ones bc life is so hectic, so I've been taking major advantage. @liverdisease-qb6rk as far as my sobriety goes I will have one year September the sixth. My problem isn't with alcohol at the moment but more so with my health. I'm on hospice and they refuse to do any medical procedures. I can't even get them to do a blood test for my A1C. When I had it checked by a doctor in February it was 7.6 which classifies me as diabetic. I might have no other recourse but to drop hospice. Idk Any ideas?
@@SamPonder-pr5js hey sam! Congratulations on 1 year!!! You don't have long until September 6th!!! That's absolutely amazing!!!! I am so sorry that you are on hospice right now and can't get any procedures done. I'm pretty sure that you can get an at home a1c test. And yes.... that a1c is diabetic. It's actually a good a1c for someone with diabetes, so good for you! I would look into getting at at home test. As far as the hospice goes, I can't give you any advice on that. Only you will know what to do there. I just can't say either way. Take some time and pray on it, think about the good and the bads that might happen if you stop. Will your pain be under control? Are you in a lot of pain? That could be a catalyst that changes the dynamics on what decision you make. If you get off of hospice, you will lose that ability to address the pain, if they are helping you with that, not saying that they are. I'm just bringing this up because I know how much pain I was in during the time I was bed ridden with the ascites and all I I would have given anything for help with the pain. @liverdisease-qb6rk thank you for your kind words. Yes I deal with extreme pain with the ascites and hernias. but refuse to take their pain meds. (Oxycodone). I don't want to be addicted to anything anymore. I guess I have picked my poison and so I must stand by my decision. I do think I'm going to drop hospice though so I can see my primary doctor. I hope your son had a good birthday, LD. I am trying to change a lot in my life right now. You could say I am "in transition." These two months of sobriety I have now is the longest period I have had in a while. I don't like the smell of alcohol either and I can smell any form a mile away.

You hit the nail on the head with the hand sanitizer. I can't even use it anymore because it's such a huge trigger and if I absolutely half to use it I try not to breath through my nose so I don't smell it. I was a huge vodka drinker so I can relate to that.

I had fatty liver, any amount of alcohol will cause further damage and inflammation. After drinking the liver gets irritated and causes the body to store more water. When i was a frequent drinker my face would be red and swollen all the time.
Hey, Simon!! If you have fatty liver, then I'd be trying my best to cut back. If you're looking to quit, though, and you drink that volume regularly, then I'd speak to a medical provider about how to do it safely!! You can do this. I'm sending you tons of strength and warm wishes ❤❤

Hey LD, I hope you had a great weekend, and happy birthday to your son! 🎉🎁I was at the NYS Fair with family over the weekend and I must admit it was a bit tough. The smell of booze in the air and the wine slushie booths were somewhat triggering, but I was able to manage and I ended up having a great time! Didn't do too many rides though. After 3 or 4, I just get a really bad headache! Great message today my friend! I'm glad to have my life back on track, things aren't perfect, but nothing ever is anyway. I'm making progress and I'm so happy about that! Take it easy, brother!! ❤

@@liverdisease-qb6rk Thank you, friend. Its sounds a bit crazy, as if I made it just like that. Truth is, I fought over 30 years. Relapse, after relapse, after relapse, maybe 40 times in hospital, to detox. I couldnt make it. I dont even know, why this time worked. Anyway , what I do like to say, is. If I could make it, anybody can. I was considered a hopeless case, a failure. I was homeless , two times.
Now, its, as if I found a spot of peace in my head. A place, I have never been before.
Anyway. ANYBODY CAN MAKE IT. ( I have never been a religious person. Even that changed. I cant believe , I would have done it , without help from .......I dont know yet, but I was not alone.)

Thank you for the encouragement and sharing your story! 1st had Rum 151 at 11 years old. So crazy. It's just normalized in the culture I grew up around, in a lot of cultures. Alcohol really is one of the most dangerous drugs though. Struggled hard with minimizing..."just this one time, with this one special person, on this one special occasion", but made the commitment and NO REGRETS. Amen to communities like this. We have to take the reigns, we're the only ones who can make the changes that we need for our lives, and you are a living testament that it can be done. You were delivered the worst possible news by your doctors. You didn't ignore it and move on, you didn't let it consume you and drag you further into addiction. You acknowledged it and decided to work hard to live as well as possible. And look at you now!! According to your doctors, you shouldn't be here. But you are, you're going strong, and you're doing amazing things. How we look at life, the cards we're dealt, and how we choose to interact with all of it determines our quality of life, and I believe our longevity. So I hope someone sees this video and recognizes that they have the power within themselves and the ability to live well.
