I’m 7.5 years sober and still get cravings. Mostly at restaurants. Italian food seems to require wine. I didn’t go out for a long while. I distanced myself from all drinking friends which were the only people I hung out with. Still don’t have a lot of friends but I’m ok with that. I live with a big drinker which can be difficult but he drinks beer which doesn’t tempt me. What I thought was boredom was really just peace and learning to be alone. About 2 years in I started exercising every day. God is good😊

Melanie, I remember just waiting for the day to be over so I could just go to bed and have another day down. Just go along ,one day at a time. Don’t look in the future. It really is just today you have to think about. Not much better than waking up not hungover. I’m still grateful for that after 7 years. You can do it
Great words! My idea was not to STOP something but to START living healthy. For me that was exercise, a good diet and generally just a whole new lifestyle that didn’t involve drinking. Drinking just didn’t fit into my “new” life so I left it behind. Thank you for your honesty.
Thank you So Much LD for making this video!❤ 13 Days alcohol free and so far so good but I have been concerned about my birthday next week. I may struggle on my birthday but I Shall Not Drink!! I have a sober family member who I will be spending the day with. They have been sober for 11 years and really really Hate alcohol so it should be helpful. I’m staying super busy too.
I would like to give you a few tips to help, if only on the day/night of your birthday ( if you get through that day you will be so proud of yourself) 1. Your birthday is really just another day. Don’t play it up in your mind. 2. Eat plenty. Treat yourself to as much of your favourite food as you can. 3. When you see people, family and friends drinking, imagine the poison sign ( skull and crossbones) on their glasses and bottles. Don’t envy them drinking, feel sorry that they don’t know what they are doing to their brain, liver, pancreas etc. they will be having to process all that toxic liquid the next few days. You will wake up feeling great. 4. Treat yourself to a nice gift for the next day! It doesn’t have to be big. A plant for the garden, a special food you love… Wishing you all the best for you and have a fab sober, healthy birthday that you will remember with joy! Sending love from England. ❤
You are so welcome cindy! I am so happy to hear that you are staying busy! It helps so much! And you are starting a flower garden too!!!! That's right up my alley! Everyday you water them, they have changed just a little, it's so much fun!!! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help for your birthday, I know how tough it is. The sparkling water is amazing for replacing beer. I have about a six pack a day sometimes, they are delicious. And also consuming copious amounts of sobriety community content like yours, LD! I have worked really hard to just reframe what alcohol is to me (or rather reminding myself of what it actually is in reality: straight up poison and such a stupid destructive activity).
You’re right, it's a fact that quitting booze not only makes your world a better place to be in, good things start to “magically” happen and the energy is insane! Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever, that’s the best shortcut I go’ogled that took less than a week to work without suffering withdrawal.
what works for me is warm of hot liquid, especially when it is like a soup, from an instant knorr or something, it has a good taste, and calms down the stomach especially when it is irritated and bloated from alchool...calms down also any nausea and opens the body to having more soups during the day... so the best that i did over the past week is just drinking alchool in the morning on an empty stomach, though i try to sneak in some water too, and then once i have eaten for the morning i try to keep clean for the whole day. I have a rehab in a week, i will be 7 days in there, no access to devices, no going outside, it will be very unusual to me but they have good reviews, there will be people with me, with same problems as me as well as carers, and i will have an ebook, there will be a medical detox, although my alchool consumption was not that high but was almost every morning..i hope for the best to keep my sobriety once out of the rehab, and this video and the ones like it are the ones that are helping me, thanks guys

I can make it better lol
Wow!!!!15 years? Really? Why don't you go out? Is it a trigger for you? Thank you Kristen! God bless❤❤❤
@@liverdisease-qb6rk I don’t know LD. I go out just not past say 2.
I am safe at home. Too many people, not enough patience, I’ve always only gone out if I needed something.
We used to take “R” to movies, out to eat, events, we’d go to football games but now that he’s out & 19 idk. Ok so 15 yrs was a bit of a stretch.. I don’t know what it is.
OCD… negative intrusive thoughts?
I’ve become extremely rigid after my surgery to save my life. We moved here in 2011. I was living, thriving & then BAM 💥 life happened and once again outside wasn’t safe.
I run out but straight back.
I’m stuck in the “freeze” response.
Fight, flight, fawn or freeze. Surgery triggered something I can’t explain it.
@@liverdisease-qb6rk Now that I think about it I think it comes down to trying to control my anxiety, rage or any other negative feeling I’d have in response to other people.
I know I can’t learn anything if I don’t go out. (Therapist in my head)
I’ve become a recluse lol!
I didn’t go out much back home either.
❤❤ love you, Kristen!!
Just fast forward that drink in your mind. Is it worth it?
You are so right! Thank you! God bless😊😊😊
