    IMPORTANT
    #1 apparently I put the rear guard in wrong. figured this out due to some helpful comments. that being said the way the AVS fits is still really weird even when done correctly so whether tec still wins.
    plus it still hits on the front window which sucks. ...
    #2 just because avs do not fit my car doesn't mean they are like this for ALL CARS this is just my experience.
    hope this helped some of you!

    Thanks for the pointer on peeling off the weather tech sticker. I just bought these window vents and I peeled them off before the sun could bake them on. Rubbing alcohol seems to take the adhesive off pretty well without damaging the acrylic.

    I just installed WT deflectors on front and read windows. Just watched a couple of videos and it was done inside of 30 minutes. You have to fuss the deflectors a bit when rolling up the windows. There is a safety feature on most cars where it will prevent fingers from getting jammed when the window rolls up. The window will roll down automatically if it senses interference. So you have to roll up the window a bit at a time and then work the deflector away from the window as it rolls up. Gradually the window will roll to the top position. The WT deflectors look good on my car. Incidentally I didn't get these for rain. I live in Arizona. I bought them so that I can crack the window down a bit when the car is parked in the sun. Nobody will know the window is down a bit, and it helps to keep the inside of the car cooler.

Here is what Jay Tee discovered: "After watching this video and experiencing the same issue, I felt that AVS dropped the ball but they did not! According to the instructions the tabs on the front and the back end of the vent visor needs to be insert between the rubber and the post! An instruction I followed for my 2017 Buick Verano and they now fit perfectly and work flawlessly!!! You do not put the tabs inside the window channel itself!!! I’ve installed both brands on various cars & trucks over the years & always need to do some modifications to the visors. Usually it’s trimming the ends with a razor knife.Getting them hot & flexible helps too. Or using a dremel to remove thickness or ridges from the injection mold. I haven’t seen a set that didn’t need some kind of mod to fit properly. Just installed a set on a 2020 murano that according to a RUclips video wouldn’t work. They fit perfectly after a little massaging & heat.

    I'm sure the results vary from vehicle to vehicle. I installed a set of AVS in-channel deflectors in my Ford E-150 van, they installed easily and performed flawlessly for over 13 years. I just traded in that truck for a new Ram ProMaster van but I don't think AVS makes one for it. I've seen mixed reviews for WeatherTech for this vehicle, mostly breaking during installation. The only other in-channel deflector I've come across is Heko. I haven't decided yet.

    I recently purchased 2 sets (at separate times) of AVS visors for my 19 Acadia, highly disappointed with the install of them. Actually broke 2 of the driver door ones due to it not having any adhesive on the rear side of the visor. I took them back and just ordered the weather tech ones. I'm hoping that it's a much better quality product as it was about 50 dollars more. I feel confident that the installation will go relatively smooth. They seem to sell a good reliable product.

    Weathertech for the win in my opinion, when you remove them or they break you are stuck with the goo from the 3M tape in the channel if you use the AVS. You dont want goo in your crack...

  • @championplayerdo7604
    @championplayerdo7604 4 года назад +1

    Bought two sets of the AVS! One of them for a Suburban and the other for Enclave. They don't have that Groove on the visors for the Suburban but they do on The Enclave. However. The fitment is purely determined by the inside of the channel of the car, and I ran into the same problem you did with the back of it catching on the window on the enclave! That was extremely frustrating! The problem is on certain model vehicles they have a soft rubbery seal in channel that moves in and out, but that's not good for the install of the visor. On the Suburban it has a firm felt inside Channel all the way up and down. So the visors we're able to stay in place but on other models that have that soft rubbery seal in channel. It's going to be a problem.

  • @PorkyHontas
    @PorkyHontas 3 года назад

    I had the opposite problem. The AVS worked for me and fit in the channel on all three sides and the Weathertech version wouldn't fit. Broke one and had to order another one and it still wouldn't fit correctly. And ended up forcing a Weathertech in and of course my window wouldn't roll up.

    What this guy said 👇🏼 the weather techs that I got for my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ended up falling out several times driving on the highway so I would have to pull over and run back to get them. They would also make an annoying rattling noise and I would have to push the front ones in from falling out every so often. I went with the AVS visors for my 2014 Xterra Pro4X and the front fit perfect but the back have the same issue where the window won’t roll up unless you pull the visor back while rolling the window up at the same time. 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @XxxFrontier_Overland6494

      @gary the weather tech brand was for my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I got AVS brand for my Nissan Xterra. Both have issues. The 3M tape probably would have worked for the Mitsubishi though. The AVS I feel like I would have to shave some of the plastic off the visor to have it clear the window. 😔

    For the in-channel visors, how does that rubber seal being pushed out (notice in the period between 5:15-6:00) affect rain from getting in the window - especially when driving down the road and forcing water back along the glass? I've only ever had the kind that stick on the outside of the door, so I'm wondering.

    Do they keep rain out when the car is parked with the window down an inch?
    Do they allow air to circulate so that the interior is not an oven?
    Do they reduce wind noise when you drive with the window down?
    Etc.

    You don’t have the front ones in right. You don’t put the small piece at the end of the visor, in the window channel where your window is hitting. That little piece of plastic goes between a small piece of weather strip and the frame of the door not the window channel. That way it holds the visor out of the way of the window when you roll it up. I just installed them on my car and works great and doesn’t hit anywhere when done right. All 4 windows roll up great!!!

    I bought really expensive WeatherTechs for my Si. Kept reading how easy they were to install on their website. Not the case for me. Broke one trying to bend them into the channels. They replaced it for free but they've been inside a box for 3 months now because I'm not comfortable even attempting to try again. Really disappointed. Maybe I'm missing something but the Inside the channel WeatherTechs are not that easy imo.

    It’s the same for my 16 Optima. The window hits the AVS vents and goes back down!😡

    I have a 2017 Accord Sport and I bought the Weathertech ones for my car. They look exactly for the most part like the ones in your video. The back ones had the 3M Tape, but the front ones didn't which is a huge problem. They don't come with any type of anchors to lock them in place. The problem with that which he fails to mention in the video and actually says incorrectly at the 5:25 mark in the video. So when I bought these I almost immediately had to have them replaced by Weathertech because they do come off. I didn't even have these for a week and was driving into work on the freeway at about 6:10 in the morning. I had my drivers side window rolled down about half way and the wind caught the guard and ripped it right out of the channel causing it to fly off my car and hit the grill of the truck driving behind me. I got the replacement set to which I only needed the one piece, but they sent me everything and I put it on again. Three weeks later the exact same thing happened again when driving home from work on the freeway. Luckily there was nobody right behind me and the guard just hit the ground and slid to the side of the freeway. The Weathertech ones look great, but the front ones suck and will not hold. Please be careful. I even asked their supposed customer service people if there is a fix to this and they have no clue and don't even really know much about their own product. If you can figure out where to just buy clips at or anchors then I'm sure you can figure out a Macgyver for it, but I as of yet can't find a place that sells just the anchors or clips.

    I tried to install the AVS on my Chevy Silverado and they don't fit properly. The first time I rolled the window down, the deflector went with it. They do not fit properly & I can't return them because I removed the plastic strip from the sticky tape. "Very disappointed" is an understatement.

      THAT SUCKS! Where did you get them from. Luckly the guy on ebay I bought from gave me my money back right away. IMO i shouldnt matter. It doesn't fit your car therefore your product is faulty!!

    You do realize that the rear avs that tab doesn't go inside the window...that's why the tape is on the other side. It sticks on the outside.

    Can t go wrong with either one.The key is the installation and following instructions.Try AVS first.WeatherTech is more expensive, so try the inexpensive one first and if it works.....you saved yourself at least $50.

  • @adamgarrison9169
    @adamgarrison9169 6 лет назад

    Good video and very informative. However you do not have the AVS installed correctly. That back flange does not go inside the actual window channel as you have it. The rear flange is designed to go between the rubber and the door post. This is the case for both visors(this also why the rear wouldn't fit at all). Thank you again for the good feedback though. If we send you another set, would you be interested in showing the install on your channel?

    Weathertech came off on the freeway. Oops.. but my miror caught it. If, the fit in the channel isn't tight, the in door/in window channel ventshade will come out. Avs different story. It's 3m tape, might come off or mebbe not. Just be mindful.

    Thanks for confirming that the AVS are complete garbage. Our 2018 Kia Sorento AVS IN CHANNEL VISORS did the exact same. The window will now not fully close as it hits the edge where the flap inserts in the channel. I have installed many different types on vehicles & these AVS were the first as no other company makes them for our Sorento. They are flimsy & weak...total waste of money. DO NOT BUY AVS...you have been warned.

    These will NOT work on Ford Fusions. I have the 2017. Some wizard in the comments below explain how they were able to install them because they know how to follow instructions not knowing that they probably fit in different brands. As per the manufacturer, “ you have to bump the window while closing”. That is not in the instructions.
