After watching a bunch of reviews of different brands it seemed that the WeatherTech, while more expensive, were a cut above the competition. With that I ended up getting WeatherTech for my Scion xB and I couldn't be happier. The WT are worth every dollar.
Yes you helped me decide to go with WeatherTech. I own the weathertech floor mats already and I’m happy the product after 3 yrs of use they are still doing a great job. Thanks again for the detailed review of both major brands
This video was great and after watching several that made me less and less confident about the reviewers rather than the products, this vid gave me clear info that feels thorough and well considered. Thanks!
Thank you for the info! Weather Tech are made in the US and I have bought their mats for years and very happy with them.. but never the deflectors and you answered all my questions.
I have them on my 2010 Infiniti G37x sedan and I love them, they are made in Germany, very high quality, installation was the breeze and they perform very well. Now I ordered them for my recent car, the 2016 Infiniti Q70L AWD sedan.
Great video young brother. I agree whole heartedly. I had AVS on my Civic in-channel with 3M tapes. While it looked great, I hated the fitment. It wasn't as snug and tight fitting enough as there was a little give to it. It kept triggering my passenger window from closing properly. No matter how I adjusted it, within a few weeks, the same issue would arise again. It got so annoying to the point where I hesistated opening my passenger window at all. Right before Winter, I knew I had to make a change. So I ripped out the AVS and went with WeatherTech. Much pricier, but so worth it. Quality comes at a price. You really get what you pay for. Aesthetically, the AVS looked better to me. But fitment and quality- wise, Weathertech is the way to go. No need for double sides tapes so you can re-adjust it, if needed until it seats properly. It's been over 4 months and no issues at all. I can open and close my windows without getting all paranoid like before with the AVS. 😅
Bro...great channel...thanks for well detailed and well thought out reviews on high quality products and comparisons with other products. I'm looking at getting a the same truck myself and am already looking at small upgrades like yours. I like how you're thought process in each piece is well thought out.
Weather tech is the way to go. I have them on my 2019 raptor and it works great. Everything works and fits great. Yea the price is high but you are paying for a quality product.
Just installed mine on my 2022 Tacoma literally in the dark and they fit like a sleeve, pretty straight forward we owe it to the German craftsmanship I guess!!!
Thank you young man. I was looking at the AVS & Westin deflectors. Of course with AVS being cheaper they were my first choice. But, if the AVS are scratched, and damaged they are not good at any price. So, looks like it will be Westin for my Wrangler.
Having a 2024 f250 some options were limited in aftermarket accessories as of yet. Unknowingly I purchased a low profile hood bug deflector which 3m'd down to the hood and would do nothing for deflection. I then ordered the AVS per my nephews advice which mechanically connected. Spend a few more $$ for free shipping, I figured add side window deflectors. EGR, AVS, or Weathertech, something told me get the Weathertech and no taping. Attempting zero "tape mount" accessories now in order to be able to revert back easily without mess or screwing up paint.
I have had the AVS in the past and they didn’t last very long and would crack or break after a year or two although the rear window ones lasted longer. I attribute that to not rolling down the windows as often. Thought it was me, until I got Weather Tech ones they are much better quality and hopefully they will last much longer.
I bought AVS for my Tacoma recently and returned them after installing just one visor lol it keep rubbing against my window really bad and I was like NOPE
Really great review. And your summing up that WeatherTech met all your expectations just not worth the price. And due to lower price AVS being a worthy choice gives you complete credibility.
Great review! My AVS visors arrived boxed and fine. Unfortunately after installed, the windows hit the flanges and would not go all the way up. That seems to be a common problem.
Yeah, that can always be a problem with any in channel visors. Sometimes you just have to pull it outwards while rolling the windows up and let it sit like that for awhile. That can remedy the problem.
On my 2021 ranger i installed the weathertech the back seem to slip, they came with adhesive not clips. And on all 4 windows they hit when they roll up, is that normal?
Besides the rain, do you think they help the wind noise? My driver's window makes a fluttering noise when it's open and it's annoying. Great review, too!
Hmmmm. Got AVS for my 2020 Ridgeline. Shrink wrapped package inside a sturdy cardboard box. Perfect condition. Installed easily and look great. They are the inside track low profile and look like they came from the factory. My third set over the years. Same positive results. Sorry to hear of your miserable experience. For the money I’d encourage folks to try the AVS First. My only gripe is the all too loud white AVS badge on each front unit. A black sharpie took care of that.
Any problems with your Toyota auto up feature for the window switch? With no ventshades my window hit the gasket and backed down automatically. It did this on 3 degree day. Had to manually force it up with switch. Toyota said it's not covered under the plan and I had to pay for a new gasket. Would this create more problems down the line. My window i use every day, and that must work on my car. I bought AVS shades but havent put them on due to a small dent on the metal that goes to the roof from an apple.
Wait, the car damaged itself due to poor design and that’s not covered by a warranty? I would’ve been pissed if they told me that. It’s too late now but in the future, check with multiple dealerships until one will cover it under warranty. That’s some poor customer service. As far as with a vent shade, I can’t guarantee anything. I had issues with the auto-up when using the AVS but not the Weathertech. Your situation may differ as you already have prior issues.
Whether Tech is worth the extra money, I have used them on my vehicles and they last. The only damage I have every had to a weather tech visor was from Hurricane Ian when a shingle hit the drivers door visor and scratched it. Out side of that I have never had an issue with long term durability of a weather tech visor.
Thanks Bro. this help me decide which one will I buy. This video come in time because I was planning to buy a window deflector. The WeatherTech is really expensive but for the review of the AVS I'm thinking If I will buy cheap but in return you experience defective product don't want to go to the hassle. So I might go to WeatherTech.
Thanks for sharing this vid! Which would you recommend more, in-channel guards or out-channel?? Don't mind the out-channel but when it was time to change, it was a pain. Had to scrape off a lot of the adhesive off the door trim. I have a 2 week old Tacoma and don't want that to happen again. So would the in-channel be a better option?
I have bought many WeatherTech vents over the years with no problems. I just purchased a 2020 Tacoma a few months ago, and the first thing I bought was the WT vents again. On the front windows, I had no problems at all. On the back windows, I could NEVER get those darn clips to hold the visors in. I tried for over 4 hours, with 3 calls to WT and sending them pictures of my back window channels. I finally just gave up. Did you have any problem installing your back visors?
I need help so I don't waist money when your buying a window Visor, it always says "Quantity". Is choosing 1 quantity for both sides of the car or do you have to choose 2 Quantity when ordering ?? Someone get back to me soon !!!
Outstanding review! I'll now be going with WeatherTech. As far as the price, I believe it's better to buy once and cry once. +1 Sub and looking at your other videos after this.
Weathertech doesn't have deflectors for my car so I had to go with the AVS. They were stacked as you say but had some kind of paper to separate them from what I remember so mine were undamaged and I have been happy, but Weathertech was my first choice.
I concur with your comments re: AVS shipping/packaging. I got their front (hood) bug deflector and the AVS badge/logo had come off in shipping and rubbed against the plastic such that it arrived with little scratches around the location the badge used to be. I was thrilled there was no badge - I didn't black out my truck just to have bright logos all over it. I'm not a sponsored NASCAR driver. But the bad part was the quality control (or lack thereof).
Is the Weather Tech Dark Smoked Deflector opaque or translucent? My preference is to have full visibility seeing the outside environment by looking from the inside the truck. What is your opinion, Hai?
My wife's friend called earlier wanting me to put her rain guards on she got for Christmas, I watched your video prior to her arrival but I didn't know which brand she had-it was the AVS brand and the 2 for the back windows were scratched all to h#ll-I wonder why they don't put the protective film on them as the 2 front ones were fine. I told her I wouldn't even bother putting them on they looked so bad, the 2 front ones went on without a hitch so there is that. Thanks for the info video....
They are pretty snug but i like them better than the others on the market they are much more durable. Have your window down just enough to fit the visor where it needs to go install it and slowly roll the window up have someone operate the window while you apply outward pressure on the visor once up leave the window up for a day or so and it will be perfect
Which one makes less noise from wind while driving? One would think since the weathertech goes all the way down to the window, it would block more air from entering underneath the vent when driving? My avs ones I had were very loud and noisy. I'm looking for the quietest for my new vehicle. The WIND differences between brands should be a MAJOR marketing STRATEGY IN ADVERTISEMENT, AND ON PACKAGING? I , and would assume a lot of people would most definitely pay for the quietest product, no matter what the price difference is. LOL..
def worth the 100 bucks for the weathertech probably. i mean works lifetime of the car, and 100 bucks is only half a tank of gas in the year 2022. if you can afford to work and still use gasoline, you can afford weathertech for half the price!
@@HaiTran these PNW gas prices are getting crazy though. Did you notice an MPG drop from the rain guards affecting the aerodynamics? also since it blocks wind, how does it affect rain x blowing water off the drivers window? im assuming youre using rain x too here in the PNW
I sold this truck quite awhile back so I can't answer your questions. However, I can't imagine the deflectors having a dramatic effect on fuel economy. Maybe 1-2 mpg loss but just about anything added will do that.
Just ordered some WeatherTech Deflectors also, I prefer the look of them more than AVS. Also, do you still run the APS iArmor Boards on your tacoma from your previous video? If so how are they holding up and would you still recommend them?
I actually sold my Tacoma! But I was running the APS until the end. As warned in the video, the hardware did rust but it was very minor. Pretty much anywhere that was not covered in paint, began to rust but again, very minor. If you buy them, just make sure all hardware surfaces are covered in paint to avoid future headaches. The boards themselves don’t rust. I would still recommend them 👍🏽
@kym chiappin you can go on there website weathertech.com and enter your vehicle info and it will let you know if they do. Wich I think they do anyways
@@towers691 Thank you looks like they dont list the L200 on there list. I just cant find any in chanel ones in Australia .Heko in the UK do them but dont ship to Australia, but thanks for your responce. Cheers Kym
They are great! But mine are stamped made in Germany not the good old U.S.A. Regardless they're a good product. Pricey but Weather tech has lots of good products. Great video! Thanks!!
yeah, i just got a set of AVS visors for my 17 Ridgeline, I thought packaging looking and felt like something from a 90s informmercial. The install was easy but the front definitely catch and I will have to finagle them more. Leading to an issue where my front power windows will roll down to mid if there is any resistance. I think it is due to the thicker acoustic laminated glass in the front. Honestly, if they weren't on sale for 40$ I probably wouldn't get them
Just received my AVS's in the mail today and one is cracked the other shattered and the two fronts are scratched up. I don't know what they expect shipping them like that, absolutely no protection at all.
Threw out my AVS for my Ram 1500. The rear caught and broke a piece off. Weathertech are so much better!!! Easier to install, a lot more secure even with less tape, and nice sanded edges for smooth window operation. Don't skimp.
I just bought these for my truck I had the same issue at first after installing the front ones I rolled up the window too fast and it caught. So remember everyone roll up the windows very slowly at first. After a little adjustment it worked fine. I agree with you that the price is expensive, however they do look great and look good.
I actually ordered my weather tech vent visors from my Ford dealer. They were cheaper than the weather tech site. The in Chanels look so much nicer. I always use avs before, but the last couple of times the adhesive was horrible
I have weathertechs on my 4Runner. They are pretty nice, add a bit of wind noise, but love that I can leave my windows open an inch in hot weather and vent some interior heat without anyone knowing the windows are open if I leave the vehicle. Also nice for situations where you are sitting in a parked car in the rain and want some ventilation. Mine are 5 years old and still look and work like new. You get what you pay for.
I want to let everyone know about my experience with Auto Ventshade. I installed a set on my 2008 chevy trailblazer in 2008. A couple of weeks ago the most important one(driver front) broke going through a car wash.Remembering they had a "lifetime" warranty , I reached out to their customer service , explaining the situation.First reply from them wanted a purchase receipt,i wrote back , not available , 14 years ago, they asked for a picture,i sent one, 2 days later I had a complete replacement set. HOLY F'IN SH#T. WHAT COMPANY ON THIS PLANET WOULD DO THAT???? THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MY LIFE..2 sidenotes. first the tape they used was still rock solid , second ,I recently lost one of my weather tech ,no tape vent visors , no idea how it just blew away. I will be contacting them to see what kind of CS they have.
I've had both and never a problem with either. Here in Chicagoland we have a factory outlet store in Bolingbrook, Il right be the factory so we can just go in and pick them up. Once I had one break and it was within 1 year so they sent me a new one for free. Yeah some of their stuff is so overpriced I would never buy iy. Mike
I found on RUclips a guy telling the internal rain guard always damage the window regulator, but I google it and I couldn't find any information about it.
looks like the fronts are simply bowed out vs the rears.....as evidenced by the 1 finger under the rears and 2 for the fronts. I prefer the lower profile like the rears.
Very insightful review. I always used Weathetech but their quality has hit the skids. No longer the quality they once were - looks like they want to lower quality to compete with others. (And put more money in their pockets). It took Weathertech 3 Years to come out with the 2019 Hyundai I wanted!! Seems they pick and choose the money-makers! I honestly would have a problem buying either of these brands!! Thanks again for your insight!!
That’s not an ideal approach considering that the deflectors can incur damage over time and may have to be replaced. At that point and if you glue them on, you’d pretty much be screwed.
After watching a bunch of reviews of different brands it seemed that the WeatherTech, while more expensive, were a cut above the competition. With that I ended up getting WeatherTech for my Scion xB and I couldn't be happier. The WT are worth every dollar.

I can’t speak for the AVS but gave my thoughts on the WeatherTech in the video.
def worth the 100 bucks for the weathertech probably. i mean works lifetime of the car, and 100 bucks is only half a tank of gas in the year 2022. if you can afford to work and still use gasoline, you can afford weathertech for half the price!
Whatever works 👍🏽
@@HaiTran these PNW gas prices are getting crazy though. Did you notice an MPG drop from the rain guards affecting the aerodynamics? also since it blocks wind, how does it affect rain x blowing water off the drivers window? im assuming youre using rain x too here in the PNW
I sold this truck quite awhile back so I can't answer your questions. However, I can't imagine the deflectors having a dramatic effect on fuel economy. Maybe 1-2 mpg loss but just about anything added will do that.
Any issues with tinted windows?
Unless you installed tint on the outside of the window, it shouldn't be a problem.
Exactly what I want !
Give it a try 👍🏽
What about wells?
You looking to find some water?
@@HaiTran WELLsVisors
I've never tried them so can't say anything about them.
Thanks Mr Tran pretty clear compared what about hood bugs deflector from Weather Tec
I’ve never used them so I don’t have any opinions.
Great video. Thanks!
You're welcome!
I would still recommend them 👍🏽
The WeatherTech is a far superior product. Well worth the little extra money they cost.
If it’s in your budget, Weathertech is definitely an all around better product.
Can anyone tell me if the weathertech deflectors are available for a 2020 Mitsubishi Dual Cab Triton or it is also called a L200.
Cheers Kym
@kym chiappin you can go on there website weathertech.com and enter your vehicle info and it will let you know if they do. Wich I think they do anyways
@@towers691 Thank you looks like they dont list the L200 on there list. I just cant find any in chanel ones in Australia .Heko in the UK do them but dont ship to Australia, but thanks for your responce. Cheers Kym
Stick with the weathertec, great products and customer service
Made in the USA and great quality
Whatever works for you 👍🏽
They are great!
Honestly, if they weren't on sale for 40$ I probably wouldn't get them
Yeah, the low price is how they got me to buy too.
Excellent review thank you
Thanks for watching!
Just received my AVS's in the mail today and one is cracked the other shattered and the two fronts are scratched up. I don't know what they expect shipping them like that, absolutely no protection at all.
They’re cheaper for a reason. AVS definitely skimps on shipping.
Very informative. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Threw out my AVS for my Ram 1500. The rear caught and broke a piece off. Weathertech are so much better!!! Easier to install, a lot more secure even with less tape, and nice sanded edges for smooth window operation. Don't skimp.
Glad they worked out for you 👍🏽
Thx for the great review
You’re welcome!
I just bought these for my truck I had the same issue at first after installing the front ones I rolled up the window too fast and it caught. So remember everyone roll up the windows very slowly at first. After a little adjustment it worked fine. I agree with you that the price is expensive, however they do look great and look good.
Glad to hear they're working out for you 👍🏽
I actually ordered my weather tech vent visors from my Ford dealer. They were cheaper than the weather tech site. The in Chanels look so much nicer. I always use avs before, but the last couple of times the adhesive was horrible
Glad you found something that works 👍🏽
I have weathertechs on my 4Runner. They are pretty nice, add a bit of wind noise, but love that I can leave my windows open an inch in hot weather and vent some interior heat without anyone knowing the windows are open if I leave the vehicle. Also nice for situations where you are sitting in a parked car in the rain and want some ventilation. Mine are 5 years old and still look and work like new. You get what you pay for.
Glad they are working out for you 👍🏽
Great channel! Subbed,
Thanks for the support!
Glad it worked out for you 👍🏽
Great video
Thanks!
Was considering AVS, probs just gonna order oem.
Sounds good 👍🏽
Anyone notice more road noise?
It’s nothing that jumps out at me.
Mike
Glad something worked 👍🏽
Thanks
Welcome
the $130 price tag is for all the windows. if you get just the front windows, it's $60+ tax.
Indeed.
I hate when people try and put their hands in my crack. 😉 Weather Tech, you get what you pay for. Great video 👍🏻
Thanks 👍🏽
I found on RUclips a guy telling the internal rain guard always damage the window regulator, but I google it and I couldn't find any information about it.
I guess that's ultimately a risk that you have to decide if you're willing to take.
looks like the fronts are simply bowed out vs the rears.....as evidenced by the 1 finger under the rears and 2 for the fronts. I prefer the lower profile like the rears.
Whatever works for you 👍🏽
sounds like im getting weather tech lol
Better safe than sorry 👍🏽
Very insightful review. I always used Weathetech but their quality has hit the skids.
No longer the quality they once were - looks like they want to lower quality to compete with others. (And put more money in their pockets).
It took Weathertech 3 Years to come out with the 2019 Hyundai I wanted!! Seems they pick and choose the money-makers!
I honestly would have a problem buying either of these brands!!
Thanks again for your insight!!
You're welcome!
Good video
Thank you.
You could have just used adhesive glue if it didnt stick well
That’s not an ideal approach considering that the deflectors can incur damage over time and may have to be replaced. At that point and if you glue them on, you’d pretty much be screwed.
That's not the point either. You paid for ones that install correctly. I agree! Glad you sent them back.
Weathertech has the best fit. ... You get what you pay ......for!!!!
Whatever works for you 👍🏽
Just got mine in from weathertech, they cost me about $59 on their website
Great deal!
2 or 4???
In this case you get what you paid for I think the price of the weather tech is justified for the amount of pain you went through with AVS
It just depends on the person. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't care about a few scratches and would rather take the money savings.
Why buy the AVS when there's just going to come in damage 😕 😫 😢 😞...
I'm happy with Weathertech products.
Some people would rather save the money.
"$126.34" welp loooking for another brand then I'll get these next month
Whatever works 👍🏽
My avs were full of scratches brought them back and tried another set scratched as well just ordered weathertech much much better product
Glad you were able to get something that works 👍🏽
Sounds like you get what you pay for. Weather tech is more but probably better
Just depends on what you're looking for.
