Yeah I've been quite surprised by the modding community for Cars icl it's very cool
I acctully replayed it last week, mostly for nostalgic reason, might of been my first ever, it still holds up, just need to get used to the controlls, wich are fine on Wii

Played this game on my PS2 back in the day.
Throughout the years i kinda went back and forth on what i thought was the better out of the two games, i used to enjoy the first one more because of it's atmosphere and exploration, but as time went on years i ended up enjoying this one more because of it's track variety and difficulty.
I also liked how this game and Race -o-Rama tried to be their own stories and have elements and settings unique to them.
Yes I do like the original stories, the race o rama story especially

I actually enjoyed it a LOT more than the Cars 1.
It may as well have been an expansion to it but I had a pretty fun time with it.
Honestly the physics felt better than the first game but it still had it's moments.
I even played the Wii version in my Discord server and my friend got to witness the jankness (I had Mike Wazowski flip upside down in the hub world and he had to respawn)

I actually never had mater national on console only for DS game but overall in my opinion is that it's strange that Mike and Sulley are in this game
It was also strange for me. At the first time I played this game (I was seven years old) I was a bit scared but this wasn't a problem for me later.
This was my childhood cars game. I played it on the Wii and enjoyed it so much. Thanks to you I’m going to go back to it. This video was awesome 😁👍

Although the physics can be jank at times, I actually prefer them to the original Cars game's physics simply because drifting is a lot easier.
This is a good point, drifting was easier in this game
THQ was really kicking it out of the park with the Cars game trilogy... Sure... all the games are on the easy side, but they're still treasures for fans of the films (err... film... at least). All this time later, I still sing "THE MOUNTAIN IS HIGHHH THE VALLEY IS LOWWW" nonchalantly when taking showers.

between mater national and the first game i think i like this one more. love the world building they did with the additional characters and places like the airport and such just have so much aura to me its a vibe that i don’t get in too many other places, that or it could also be nostalgia from when i owned the game on the ps2

thanks for using that song in the background, I love it so much I learned it myself on the guitar, it's so good. and also idk what was up with your drifting and why it never worked properly. My whole life I've played the pc port and it was perfectly serviceable almost all the time

Awesome video, but some of the glitches/issues you encountered were emulator-related issues that should not have factored into the review. You claimed that the PS3 version ran at 60 fps. Although that's how it plays default on RPCS3, the native PS3 version runs at 30 fps, much like the Xbox 360 version. The game, rather than basing code on time units, bases it on frames. So, the issue you encountered while playing the Ghosting Mater minigame was an issue exclusive to the RPCS3 emulator, and for those wondering, is NOT an issue if you're playing on an actual PS3. This also applies to general driving physics (although some of the unreliable physics will still be there) and Filmore's Fuel Frenzy.
The Wii version is the only one to run at 60 FPS. Me personally, I had no issues with the physics, although it can be a little janky at times, but it's like that on all platforms.
Ah okay thank you, as clayface said below, I know the Wii version is at 60 (for some reason lol) and that definitely had the same issues with the mater ghost minigame
The PS3 version of the game becomes 60fps if you set your display resolution to 720p in the PS3's system settings.

Cars 2 game was unique i enjoyed it as it is

I love Cars 2, and I’m dying on that hill. I’d take it as a sequel over the games any day. At least Cars 2 tries to do something different instead of repeating the idea of racing over and over again. I would’ve honestly given up on the series if it had just been about only racing.

Also THANK YOU for mentioning the glitch in Ghosting Mater on the console versions, I'm glad I don't have this glitch alone myself. It's very annoying to do this mission and is impossible to complete.

Maternational is a great game. The DS version is my favorite but also the home console versions (where I only played the PS2 version) are great. The maps are smaller and less worth to exploarte than in Cars 1 but there are other things which I like a lot and also more than in other Cars games. I like it to drive in Stadiums which are also pretty well designed. I like this way more than the stale Piston Cups events in Cars 1. The races where you change a character after completing a lap is maybe not the newest idea of all time but definitely the best. I really love it when you changes chars after completing a lap because that makes things interesting without changing the race track too much. I'm really surprised that Mario Kart haven't done this before when a racing game from 2007 did it before. I also like it that there are more than one Mater races. In Cars 1 there are only one and also very simplistic track but in Maternational there are at least five of them and all of them are great designed. The difficulty is okay. Not too high but also not too low. The first Cars game is way easier. I was always first and didn't have any problem even at the end. In Maternational if you're further in the game it gets a bit harder. Not much but you know that at this point this isn't just a game for beginners. I also like it that there's a progression which shows you how many percent of the story you made and also shows the next goal. The minigames are cool but not all. Tractor tipping returns which is very cool even if I prefer the original Tractor Tipping in Cars 1, but it's still a great minigame. Ramones rhythm game is also cool and the Mike vs. Sully Event is also a cool idea even if I also agree that Mikes controls aren't that great. Because I never played the PS3 or Wii version of Maternational I could never experienced Ghosting Mater and I honestly didn't know that this game existed before the video. But it looks fun and I think that some people says that the glitches aren't from the original consoles they're from the emulator. Fillmores Fuel Frenzy on the other hand isn't as fun as I thought and it's also my least favorite minigame in this game and also my least favorite minigame from the first two Cars home console games. It's impossible to do the minigame right. If you collect too many of the fuels Filmore says that you shouldn't be wasteful with the fuels. But if try to not be like that than your opponents steals all of your fuel and you can't get enough to reach the minimum amount of laps to clear the challenge, so the only way to survive is taking every fuel tank before Doc, Mater or another car does the same to you.
At the end Maternational is also a very important game for my life. Maybe not as important as Cars 1 but I also had a lot of fun and every version (besides the GBA one) has something which I want to see in a Mario Kart game and wasn't there before like changing chars in every lap like the home console versions or eliminating chars when they are last like the DS version.
I wouldn't rank the Cars games in the moment because I didn't know every Cars game well and I also want to wait till I see every Cars game and also every (honorable) version of the Cars games. Also I'm very interested for Cars 2 Mobile.

Cars Mater National is actually my favourite cars game in my opinion
I do like the racing gameplay the mini games and everything
But I don’t like about this game I can’t even do Ramone dancing minigame because I’m so trash at that I never got to level 7 so I give up on it, Inside The Turkey is so annoying because I didn’t know which way to go until now and it’s easy to get lost and Canyon Run oh my gosh my most hated one of my opinion… I rather not talk about it
But there is good stuff about it though! I really like Mike and Sully last laughed because I don’t know it’s really fun in my opinion even though Mike controls is not good but Sully does have good handling of control, Team relay race was really fun I just kind of enjoyed a lot! Doc’s law N Chase really fun I know people think it’s kind of boring but I think it’s really fun. Fillmore’s Fuel Frenzy was really good even though you had to collect fuel by racing as well to reach the laps to complete it which I’m actually good at and The racing is the same but still really good and tractor tipping still a hard bit game but still good
At the final part, the story… The store. This game is really really interesting
And that’s all I have to say about this game Cars Mater National is my favourite cars game ever and I have it on Wii as well
Edit: Also one more thing Ghosting Mater is really bad. I just really hate that mini game so much.

Why is this game's plot similar to cars 2 movie plot but way better than the actual cars 2
The PC version is broken but on newer versions of windows on windows 7, vista, and xp should be fine and maybe 8
The only issue i have with mater national is that you dont have fully access to the maps of the game, just like cars the video game. For example you cant go to willys bute in radiator springs of the waterfall in tailfin pass. In general they made the maps smaller

Although I’m now 22 years old I have always wanted to pick up a copy of Mater National and Race O Rama since playing the original video game but have never got round to it. It right off the bat I think one thing I don’t like about mater national (not sure if it’s the same for Race O Rama here) is the heavily reduced map in free roam, going by the original 1st game there were so many areas you could drive around but from what I have seen from other play throughs The areas to explore while In free roam are heavily reduced, Tailfin Pass for example was much larger in the original cars one game but from seeing Mater National all I have seen is the small area around the Wheel Well, also the entrance to Ornament Valley is much closer to the end of radiator springs whereas in the original cars one game you had a small section of road to travel down before you were prompted if you wanted to enter Ornament valley or not, if I am right here then to me that is such a shame, it would have been nice to keep the original Cars 1 map when you are in free roam because then you would have a lot more to explore, If I’m not right though and the map is actually similar to the first cars game let me know.
I played Maternational and yes the maps are all smaller than in Cars 1. Radiator Springs is smaller and worse than in Cars 1. Ornament Valley is different but still decent and I liked the Cars 1 Ornament Valley not much but I like it how it look in Maternational. Talfin Pass is very small but tbh I like it more than in Cars 1 where Talfin Pass is just long straight lines without possibilities to go off road and a very small open area around Wheel Well.
For Race O Rama what I've seen it looked like they used the same maps from Cars 1 again but also used some new worldmaps.
This game just feels like a bunch of nothing. The main story missions are mostly just 3 hours of nit very exciting racing, and the side missions are mostly just dull minigames with frustrating elements. I can see why someone would like this game if they liked the first Cars game and Race O Rama, and I also like those games, but this one just doesn’t do it for me.

I don’t know why but when I play this game, the AI racers keep hitting the pit maneuver on me, it’s really funny but also kinda annoying
Also the third road race in North Willy’s Butte was a massive difficulty spike for me (I play on Champion), Snot Rod was just too fast for me, he would keep up a two second lead for the entire race; only reason I won that race is because he got caught by one of the twisters on the final lap
I've only fully played cars 1 and play a little bit of race o rama but thats about it.

I played cars video game, mater national and race o rama for plenty of years and to this day cars the video game is still my favorite cars video game of all time. The entire movie cast returning, the locations to visit, the cutscenes, and the races themselves and even the story and how mcqueen's character arc is further expanded on is what makes the game golden. mater national is good too but not all cast members returned, no sally chick or mack, the exploration worlds while improved and different are smaller than in the original video game, and mcqueen going from his usual cocky self to being all about friendship never suited well with me. Race o Rama is fine too but the physics are quite janky at times and while I liked the new locations they are only used for a few races or so with the main focus being in radiator springs, ornament valley, and the rs speedway and the return of mack and chick, still no sally? but hey they brought back mia and tia and the explore hubs from the first 2 games are returned to their original sizes with 1 or 2 additions in each area. Not to mention the video game has concept art (like the next two titles) but also deleted scenes too (not found on the gamecube version) and even movie scenes and other trailers. I still like how in the video game they made chick a racer now with a short temper and has to use his smarts and deviousness to one-up mcqueen and pull strings behind the curtain.
You make a lot of cool points there, McQueen is definitely too friendly in the second two games

You forgot to mention how terrible Gudmund performs in the PS3 version, cause that's an issue which Gudmund did not have in the PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and PC versions
