If you're having ammo issues with the Sniper Rifle, you could actually do a trick with your Marine partner. If you trade a weapon with an empty mag with a Marine, they will reload it for you for free. So at the part where you're sniping enemies after the Prowlers, you could trade your Sniper for the Marine's rockets for a few seconds and then trade back for effectively infinite ammo.
I found this out right after this guide published lol. Can be very useful. I tried it on stream and it was tough since my marine kept getting back on the mongoose nearby so it wasn't so smooth. And the brutes shields recover over time so youd want to be quick about it. I could probably figure out a good way of doing it though. Good tip! This will be in my LASO 3.0 guides lol.
@@HaloCompletionist You could maybe incorporate it in the ODST LASO guides since the exploit works on all Halo games where you can trade with allies.
It's a year later but if you park the mongoose on the rock mound to the left the marine won't try to get back in the mongoose
Did they patch this? I can't give an empty gun to the marine.
@@drewbaby299 no , you have to have spare ammo, so if you have only 3 bullets then the marine will only load 3 shots
If you're a fool like me who wastes all his BR ammo prior to the final fight, don't worry! There are carbines along the side of the room that you can sneak to and there are certain spots in the room where the enemies just don't fire back for whatever reason.
It's not nearly as flashy as Silver's John Wick approach but it's a slow and safe approach :) Hope this helps!
pog comment
The reason they don’t shoot at that final part is that the chieftain challenges you to a duel. So the other brutes don’t attack until after you kill the chieftain.
I also recommend carring some Plasma Pistols down there, then using the camo immediately to kill the Hammer chieftan then just using noob combo on the others. Hammer Chieftan is so unreliable for me.
Noticed this on Sierra 117 as well, but the number of shots it takes for me to bring down the shields of a brute is much more than what you're showing in these videos. Back then with the beam rifle, I think it was 4 shots to your 2, and this time with the sniper it was 14-16 to your 10. Instead of going for the third brute (had nowhere near enough ammo for that, even with the br added to the mix), I took down all the grunts and let my rocket marine take care of the last brute. 32/46
Feels like he plays without mythic on.
If that’s the case then these guides are not accurate
@@snowman2116 Yep, idk why, but he also played reach's laso without the mythic skull.
After he made these guides 343 added the mythic skulls to the LASO playlists that didn't formerly have the skull.
@@logs5886 Maybe they buffed it instead? In the intro of first episode of this playlist he explicitly mentions the mythic skull being apart of the skulls on for this playlist.
@36:51 if you quickly assassinate the grunt on the bottom left of the first room and then wait for the brute to turn around and start walking down the stairs, you can completely stealth through this room and not risk getting killed by grunt grenades. Awesome guide!
Fun Chopper fact: if you rapidly press the shooting button on your controller/mouse/keyboard, the Brute Chopper will fire a tad faster than holding it down.
same thing works with plasma rifles
4:40 If your marines die before the prowlers are gone you will get reinforcements that eventually come in the same way we did
Never knew that because I've never had them all die, pretty cool!
@No-Bark Noonan I never knew until my LASO playthrough myself haha
Silver I swear you are a beautiful gem! Keep it up my man, you’re appreciated!
Amazing as always brother 👏👏
Had a bit of trouble with this mission, thanks as always silver
Love the longer episodes
Going into the final brute fight I only had 1 shot of BR ammo. Had to make my run to the door the jackals came out and once it opened grav hammer them to grab their carbine. Great guide!
Kinda disappointing that none of the missions in this game have huge skips like Delta Halo or Assault on the Control Room.
Were it so easy
Were it so easy?~ arbiter in halo 3 i think
I actually prefer it being possible to win fairly less complicated that way
I feel like that's because Halo 3 had a much smoother development compared to Halo: CE and especially Halo 2, so there aren't as much glitches/exploits in Halo 3.
@@Chuked it's a statement, not a question.
Your guides are awesome man
this one was painful honestly, thank god for your guides brotha
the last battle was awesome
That power drain trick is pure genius!
The dislike is from the prophets
there are now 3 dislikes which is perfect
Regret got his face bashed in 😁
This level was agony. Hardest mission on LASO in Halo 3 by far
I just got to the 40min mark of your video that took me the better part of my day just for the iron skull to completely screw me. Save and quit for whatever reason decided to not work for the one time and now I got to do the whole level again...borderline wanna cry lol
Now you know how I feel with chapter 3 on CE LASO. Still haven’t passed it, even though it’s been like ohhhhhhh, 5 months
The same thing happened to me at the end of gravemind laso. If this happens, unplug the internet and use ctrl alt delete to shutdown steam and then your game. This will prevent it from uploading the save to the cloud. Now if you go into your steam folder > userdata > then click through the folders with a bunch on numbers. For mine it's 398347270 > 976730 > remote 25334898315139. In that folder you should see a folder "Saves" then "SaveGame". Those are your local saves for halo, so if you delete that folder it will have to download a copy from the cloud. Delete that, reconnect to the internet and start the game back up. This will bring you back to the place you were the last time you closed the MCC. Unless you played the whole level in one sitting, you will probably have some progress on the mission.
For me, this got me back to the prison grav lift on gravemind, rather than having to start from the beginning. Of course i'm assuming your using steam and have cloud saves enabled.
Also be careful not to add anything into this folder because that will prevent it from saving your game.
Thank you bro
I'm pretty sure you're playing without Mythic on, because the invis Brute at 42:46 survives a stick + melee
It makes sense, when he kills Arbiter it takes more than the 5 melees and headshot that he says it does.
4:00 beware the two prowlers will come before you even touch the mongeese if you do something like kill all the enemies in the area.
It was really frustrating for me because i keept dying a lot in the scarab section, and afterwards i didnt get a checkpoint, i fucked up with the sniper and the rockets basically i did the rest od the mission solo and after 40 attemps after the scarab to get there.
But i did it, thanks to you silver, and a lot of luck and skill
So while I was boarding the 2nd Anti Air Wraith, when I hit it the first time for some reason, a spike grenade that was laying on the ground blew up and killed me. Gotta love it.
Rocket Marine saves the day!
This series should have way more views! So cool! I haven't seen anybody else who's done this online
Probably because it’s extremely difficult and only the most masochistic insane psychotic individuals would attempt it.. Most people barely ever attempt Heroic and Legendary, let alone the LASO mode.. Its pretty insane how people are able to do this!
Instructions unclear. Marines kept being Houdini.
If you do the despawn on co-op, then after getting the Scorpions, it will warp you both to in front of the camp you despawned. On the far side (the side you came from initially). Happened to us both for the speedrun and while on LASO. It's not the absolute worst because you can grab a vehicle and rush back to the tanks, but it was a surprise.
@virtue @EDB I'm about to try this coop on MCC in a few minutes. Knowing this would you still recommend doing the despawn? I don't fully understand, does it warp you with the scorpion? If not, how do you get back to it?
My body is ready
Oh wait, it's 46 minutes! My body is NOT ready. I repeat: NOT READY!
at 18:39 I find it easier to just switch to sticky grenades and stick the brutes 1 by 1, then you can melee the last one, they like the throw drain in close proximity, so watch out but they can also drain their own shields too! You can then board the nearest wraith and finish the last one from the back with ease
If you didn’t get the power drain like me before the dawn lands there’s another during the 2nd tank section, at 30:00 you can see a elevated area at the top left and there’s a fuel rod and power drain. Hope this helps
I seen comments about the unlimited sniper ammo this also works for the rocket launcher which is nice
I was having a lot of difficulty with the final battle. I juggled all the plasma pistols to the stairwell you go down for the battle. I then utilized the active camo to assassinate the Chieftan and picked up his invicibility and quickly ran back. If you stand near the door to the stairwell the Brutes will jetpack over to you making for easy noob combos to take them out and use the powerdrain on any groups. The Jackals are easy to take out from distance. Was much easier and quicker for me.
Let's go ma boi
21:00 it is nearly impossible to blow up the wraith with the ghost
40:23 so much more effective that my sniper survived the mission, somehow....
I find it easier to take out the left Anti-air Wraith from inside the cave with the Chopper, before you destroy the conventional one. That way you don't have to board it or put yourself in a lot of danger to take it out
Almost two years late, but I was at the 2 AA wraith section and I just destroyed both of them without killing all the brutes, and seems like the rest of them just despawned
i never found the power drain but the invis alone can make the last fight a breeze. You can 1v1 the hamboy with all of the others watching and they will not shoot you until he's dead as far as I know. I just let the hamboy do his jump attack and then circled around and backsmacked him as seen in the Sierra 117 video. After that the remaining brutes all do this battle cry animation, so from right to left I backsmack the 1st and 2nd, and then popped invis to smack as many as I can and to take cover near where the jackals spawn so I could kill them. After that I had only two brutes left and they were easily dropped with the noob combo. It's even easier if you snag the invincibility from the hamboy before you take on the jackals
There's always one part in these missions that give me hell, for some reason in the room where you assassinate 3 brutes, the second just doesn't go down, and if he does the third has already started shooting loads of brute shots at me. Been on this part for 30 mins already...
If you're like me and the brutes are taking more shots on the sniping part what I did was just kill the first 2 brutes then kill as many grunts with the sniper ammo I had then continue as silver did but I just had an extra brute to kill with the marine prowler and rocket goose which made no difference to me because my rocket guy took the brutes shields down from a distance in around a minute or two and I headshotted him as he beserked towards us.
THANK YOU
@@syllabic4389 no worrys. Theres a part on the covenant aswell on the final bridge where silver kills some brutes long range with three fuel rod cannons each. For me it takes 5 because there must've been an update to buff enemy health on laso. You should have enough fuel rod ammo from the grunts from the previous section though.
I beat this level last night, I got a huge break at the end of the level. For some reason the Hammer Chieftan at the end was already dead, he was dead at the doorway leading out from the room with the invisible Brutes to the final part of the level. I got down there and found his hammer and invincibility on the floor! I didn't complain, you take every break you get in LASO, but I'm not sure what I did to trigger that. I was still super cautious and brought like five Plasma Pistols, a Regenerator, a Cloak, and the Invincibility into the final room and picked off the Brutes one by one, can't be too careful.
Also, I didn't have enough ammo to snipe out that third Brute early on, after sniping the first two Brutes consecutively, I brought the Prowler and the rocket Marine on the Mongoose down. I waited until a Chopper came around the rock to hijack it not just for shields, but I used the Chopper to finish off the final Brute that you sniped off, in addition to the Grunts.
Is there any particular reason to not hijack the Choppers? Because they usually give you extra shields
For the rocket marine just drive him into the room with the terminal you just came out of. He'll become a driver but he won't drive through the doors.
Make sure you destory ALL unused ghosts a brute left the area 5 minutes later he came back in a ghost i left back near tunnel on the anti air wraith section and chased me up to the rockface
Oh man longest one so far
Took me like 5 times to get past the ghost rock climb part cause of the 2 enemy ghosts always shooting you if you slow down for a sec but it's possible if you're quick
I would try to watch them and I would notice the one on the right would sometimes move off to the side and hide behind a rock and then I would go that way there was only 1 shooting at me
there are 2 ghosts next to me when I try to use the rockwall to get past the load zone. Where they there for you or am I getting bad rng?
Yeah they're always there, sometimes they shoot, sometimes they don't.
They ALWAYS shoot at me!
I reccomend taking the warthog over the chopper as it is more accurate
These guides are great while watching high.
3:25 Ah yes, the plural for mongoose is "mongeese." I've been saying this for years!
5:09 : get that shit outta here!
So we got through Ark today after a bunch of lag trouble. Best advice I can give before the tanks is to follow his advice and speed past enemies. The grunts and brute at the top of the hill get in your way a lot, but once you get past them it's another checkpoint and safety before you're thrown back into it.
Getting through the rest of it, we mostly used the prowler and its turret (my partner) and the mongoose with a soldier on it with a rocket launcher. They dropped the prowler eventually for a chopper and used that to deal with most of the enemies. I'd pop up close a little sometimes to get my rockets to kill them.
Then once the tanks showed up we had no trouble up until the very end of the level with the brutes blocking the way down the hall. No real advice there. We both had power drains and I used mine. Then we backstabbed the turret chieftain and moved on. Last room the chieftain dropped an invincibility and I used that and the hammer to clear some of the enemies while he used the power drain to weaken as many as he could. The snipers showed up and gave us trouble but we cleared them after a try or two as well.
Not great, but we got it just over 2 hours.
EDIT: Oh and we didn't do the skip with the ghost. I did it the first time when we lagged so hard we had to quit, but he couldn't join me so it wasn't worth it. Solo it's probably great, but not in co-op with only one ghost.
We start the ark today. Thanks for your advice, soldier
@@greenthunder1000 I didn't think anyone would actually be listening, but I hope my experience helps you with your run. And good luck!
I love you
Near the end, where Arbiter gets into the banshee, for some reason I found the next room difficult for some reason. After trying to clear all the enemies for some time, what worked for me was I quickly headshot the first few grunts and took out the jackals before the extra brutes entered the room. Then near the right side, I was waiting for them to come in, in which I ran for the exit, throwing a bubble shield to cover from all the brute shots. If you're able to do exactly what Silver said in this section, then don't worry about this, but this is what worked for me.
Edit; I don't remember if I got a checkpoint right after or not, I feel like I did at the door of the next room I did, but it wasn't a problem for me since I found the next room to be so much easier.
Somehow got the achievement that requires you not entering a vehicle? Might be glitched
saving and quitting will bug it out, i saw it happen to my brother on a laso halo 2 mission where the game thought he just started the mission even though he resumed the last part of metropolis right before he jumps onto the scarab at the end
bro me and my friend and I drove the gauss hog all the way through the ending are and used it to kill the final brutes in the mission. LMAO
Ngl I brought a gauss hog into the end fight with the chieftain
I finally got to 13:00 after 3 hours then the game just restarts the whole mission instead of going back to the checkpoint.
Taking care of the marines on this mission is like driving a short bus with how dumb they are. I swear I would be fine the marines didn’t shoot for like a minute than the moment I go to high jack a stunned brute the marine decides to shoot him with a rocket launcher killing me.
My sniper seems to do half the damage yours does.
I'm not entirely sure that mounting the mongoose is what spawns in the prowlers. I keep getting a checkpoint where I'm about to stick a mongoose and I get shot in the back by the prowlers. I can't seem to figure out what since you killed both brutes in the video so it can't be that triggering it. Nor is it all the grunts dying since they tend to spawn with multiple grunts still alive in my game.
They'll spawn eventually given enough time, but if you get in that mongoose they'll spawn at that point. They'll also spawn if you move to the next section. They have multiple triggers essentially.
I didn't follow the guide there either. Trusty plasma pistol and BR got me through there with a little bit of blood sweat and tears
Wow the third part with the marines rocket launcher i dont know why but even if i only kill the two brutes and no grunt i haven t any time to destroy the fisrt mongoose and take the other until the prawler come to kill me i restarted two times becquse of a spawnkill cp
Same thing is happening to me
MCC on PC must have bugged damage values or something because everything takes more shots to kill, for example in earlier missions when you need to kill the arbiter it takes 7 melees to take down his shields when your vids consistently show 5, and the sniper section at 5:45 is actually impossible to kill all 3 brutes on because you will run out of sniper ammo long before their shields break. Incredibly annoying to work with. And yes before anyone asks I've been playing with 60fps cap since higher framerates mess things up.
I have the same issue, you found a solution? Everything takes more shots to kill, i ran out of sniper ammo and the third brute still alive and the arbiter takes 7 melees to take down the shields. I don't know why is this happening.
@@amethcabrera9863 I didn't, I just tried to work around it and eventually made it through the game, for that section in particular I just took out as many brutes and grunts as I could with the sniper and then took the Prowler with the rocket launcher marine to clean up a chopper and ghost that were left
Thanks Spartan
Yup. It's ffffeed
How does your plasma grenade one hits, but mine doesn't :O I Stick too
Why does it seem like all of the things you say you've never seen before on your runs, happen on my runs.
Took me 3 hours to complete this mission.
Just wanna let you know that the old floodgate and ark guides are still in the Laso playlist instead of the new ones
Edit: Fixed, thanks silver!
Thanks bud! Just fixed it. I've been deep in The Covenant for the last 72 hours.
Halo Completionist After this one the recommended next to watch video is your video of LASO “The Covenant” from 5 years ago. Lol. Can’t wait to see the updated one! These are so entertaining to watch.
Halo Completionist Wow. Your hours don’t go unappreciated we promise! Thanks for these amazing guides!
Is it just me, or so brute shields take a lot more to go down than in the guide? At 5:58, it takes 10 shots to take down the shields, but mine consistently takes 14. I’m not spacing the shots out any longer either.
Yeah same here I just killed all the grunts I could after the 2 brutes then did it the same as silver did next but I had to get my marine to take out the remaining brute from long range.
@@connor4475 that’s what I ended up having to do as well. I also came across a similar issue on the level Covenant on the last bridge where each jetpack brute waiting above took 4 fuel rods instead of 3.
@@hellohi2516 ahh ok I'll look out for it. I'm literally doing the scarab part of this mission as we speak 😂
@@hellohi2516 lol it's taking 5 for me 😂. I bet anything silver didnt have mythic on
@@connor4475 They might’ve actually taken 5 for me too, but they were blown all over the place so I couldn’t really tell. I think MCC changed in an update, because a lot of people remember them taking fewer shots.
Not getting a checkpoint at 12:40 and having to go through 3 minutes of set up each time the despawn doesnt work
I didn't get it either and couldn't get the despawn to work either, I don't know if an update changed the game or something, maybe we weren't fast enough?
I figured it out, if you notice carefully Silver says "Make sure you fall to the left side of this rock." I parked my ghost way further left than he did, and then fell a good amount to the left of the rock and I had a checkpoint. Then I went to do the despawn and the 2 ghosts were there so I went as fast as I could and on the last rock I launched myself as far as I could, and the 2nd group was despawned and the ghosts didn't follow me. I hope this helps someone.
6:30 sniper strat no longer works, full ammo won't break through the shields of a single brute (on PC version at least).
Not a bad mission actually just super long
I beat it, but damn it hurts.
Any reason you dont use the trick to get into the AA Wraith? Might make the rest of the level easier?
The scorpion is much easier to use and you get it at pretty much the same time you'd be hijacking the AA wraith so not really worth it.
AA Wraith has surprisingly short range on the cannons, and leading targets is a nightmare. Much easier/safer to snipe with the Scorpion.
Interesting, I've survived hijacking the AA wraith in The Covenant on LASO. Maybe you had low shields/health and something in the hijack process dished out the last bit of damage needed to kill you? Hmm.
3:27 the brutes start coming when you or the marines kills the last grunt, not when you pick up the mongoose, be careful of no killing the last one before taking the rocket and blow up the second mongoose
Every single time for me the brutes come in when I'm on the mongoose and there is still a couple grunts alive. Been stuck in this bit for like 30 mins now
I really wish I'd read this comment earlier
First again
Not really, because I already HAVE that game that’s up there.
Should've mentioned to not let both ghosts get destroyed, I got softlocked
Well I got unstuck lol, taking out ghosts with a chopper is hard
are you just re uploading all these?
No they're brand new way better strats/quality
@@HaloCompletionist oh ok because i was seeing ones from 5 years ago recommended to me
I'm setting the old ones to Unlisted as the new ones replace them, but there's still some oldies in the mix. Soon they'll all be gone!
My run of this level was awful. Had two forced level resets (instance where the save/quit strat failed), and an awful, _awful_ time with the section with the two prowlers. I got really lucky when one of the choppers I was fighting in the arena down below flipped itself. Then, with the ghost despawn section, I fell down early but managed to finagle my way up the wall at the base of the cliff and still got the despawn. Then on the brute section before the mini cutscene, when I dropped one of my dual wielded plasma pistols _it phased through the floor._ Very up and down run.
Lmao I gave my rockets to a marine on my tank because i didn’t think I needed it anymore 😂 FUCK
It’s fine tho. I went back up and found a fuel rod to substitute.
Hey silver can you finish your legendary halo 2 playthrough after this series? I would use your monopolized series but I’m playing the legendary playlist and I can’t use any of the skulls
It takes like three times longer on LASO than Legendary.
chad
More easy😂
this level sucks
Bet you wont pin this
Congrats, you were right.
