Just a PSA that if your button layout uses left bumper to activate your equipment, you’re gonna want to change your layout for the hornet section because lowering the hornet with left bumper also activates your equipment for some reason, and you don’t wanna waste the camo if you don’t need to :)
Dylan Valenti I use Universal zoom and shoot so I had that problem when playing
Wow too late for that but thanks
That seems like a weird glitch
I wish i'd read this sooner because now i'm stuck lol, no camo and the hunters seem to kill all of the flood before the lift even gets down so then its just me vs like 6 brutes and the hunters :)
@@mrmcjeff385same here, took about 40 resets before i rushed through and got through lol
I wonder what the marines are thinking when they see chief destroy a scarab, land, get out, and punch the leg
It’s like touching an airplane’s outside after you land
"he's just asserting dominance"
I'm probably never going to do LASO but these are interesting to watch and help me with legendary runs.
Pussy
Geometry Dash Ninja lol
You can do it bro! I thought it was impossible but with Silver's help I've done most of it solo!
@@EUGeometry117 sure.....
@@fidelpastry3446 yea i can prove it ;)
Kind of a weird alternate strategy for the Scarabs, but you can ride on the side of a hornet and the pilot will fly to a scarab for you to jump on. After you destroy and run back to the front of the scarab a hornet will return to pick you up and fly you to the next one. Might be easier for some people who find vehicle parts tedious.
Dude I was trying the pilot strategy for an hour and it legit was so long and tedious. Tried this and finished basically the third try. I was more easily able to assassinate all the brutes and the scarab itself was allowing me to constantly gain back shields and blocking the other scarabs shots. Banshees were a nonfactor at that point and I personally found this a lot easier. The hornet marines aren’t very good at dodging but with enough rng they do the job well.
@@jasurmakhkamov The Stars have to align for it to work, but I its faster you mainly have to deal with the three brutes on the first one and after landing on the 2nd just jump off and try not to get ran over.
@@Paxton171 guess I got lucky then lol. The chieftain on the first scarab power drained all the other brutes so it made then super easy to kill. After assassinating the first chieftain I destroyed the scarab and then the hornet got to it in time to take me to the next scarab, where I had to assassinate all three brutes (excluding the one on the bottom on the turret). And then I just ran as fast as I could and finished the mission same as the guide shows. (Big thanks to silver)
My man you just saved me from wasting more time on that stupid section. I can confirm that this strat works consistently with the only RNG being killed randomly by the turret or fuel rod brute. But all in all its great to complete that section. Thanks again
@@AN1MAX I only did it because just shooting them in the back was so long that dying means doing it over. This in my mind seemed like a faster reset.
I did die to random ghosts a few times when running to meet up with the 343 and the Arbiter.
“It’s a lot safer if you lead with the butt.”
-Silver, 2020
In my (lengendary) run I gave the near empty laser to a marine and kept him as a pet passenger.
He wrecked aboslutely everyone until the final battle with the scarabs.
Walked behind the rock at the beach and while moving along the invisible wall a destroyed hornet crushed me
You probably hear this every day but here’s another obligatory THANK YOU for making these.
When you finish a laso level you are like :😩
When it restarts at the last checkpoint: 🙃
Extremely easy/safe way to do the first bit;
Follow Silver up until he starts taking on the first Wraith. Use 4 shots of Spartan Laser to kill it, and then run up to the tree. Immediately double back and find the Mongoose and Marine(s). You may have to go down the hill a bit to find one or both of them.
Trade a Marine your Spartan Laser, and get him on the back of the Mongoose. Go to where Silver used the Ghost to kill the Wraith, and just sit there. It will take a few minutes and he'll miss a lot, but the Marine will take out the two Prowlers and the two Ghosts pretty easily. Then slowly make your way down (taking the path should give you a checkpoint), letting your Marine take out the turrets and the jackals/grunts on the far off ledge. Once everything has been dealt with, slowly inch towards the interior of the Forerunner structure, and let your Marine kill all the Grunts/Jackals/Brutes and the turret. Don't be afraid to back away if things get hairy.
Made that first bit pretty quick, and pretty easy.
Those down range fuel rod shots were impressive man!
Thanks! I was super happy finding that strat.
This was one of the funnest halo levels. Never though of just skipping the first fight either. So many good tricks in these guides.
At the start areas I just gave a marine my spartan laser and put him on the back of the mongoose, took everything out with almost no trouble.
Alright! To start off we're just gonna turn left and walk straight in to the ocean.
Thanks heaps dude! Your really helping me and my brother a bunch in completing our laso playthrough
These videos are put together really well! Awesome gameplay and awesome guid
Thank you!
I could never get past a single level without you
Wow! In all my years of playing, I NEVER knew you could blow the back off of a scarab. I've always tried to eject from my hornet, kill the thing and get back into my hornet, which usually gets lost and destroyed, forcing me to take down the other one from the ground.
Really?
33:30 is where all my H3 LASO runs die. That section afterwards is just...impossible.
Hey everyone. What I did in the first tower to prevent the hammer brute from using his invincibility was leaving 1 other raging brute left and then do the move to the side then melee his back method and then kill the last ordinary brute because for me when hes the last brute left the chieftain always uses his invincibility.
He doesn’t always use invincibility when he’s last
i just did a way to save my shields in the second tower. its a trick jump rather than a grenade boost with the brute shot. its by going up the ramp on the right before the window we are supposed to brute-shot jump through. there is a column on the right that we could crouch jump on and quickly jump off of, because the game wont allow you to stay on the farthest most edge you want to land on. you want to lightly jump the second time so you dont catch the roof and fall down. it could take a few tries to get used to but this way allows me to duel wield fresh plasma pistols instead of relying on just the fresh one up top and i have full shields.
Love your videos and streams! Watch them while at work and they greet me through the day and most importantly it gets me through the levels. Thanks brother!
21:13 I love the utter chaos here
On the way back on the bridge section, I mostly played through it regularly. The thing that made it simple was that I kept pace with the Arbiter, which meant that when Flood appears in front of you, he's always attacking the nearest threat, instead of running ahead of the flood spawns. I don't think this is as efficient as Silver's method, but it was fun enough
My favorite mission in all of halo! I’m currently on vacation so I cannot do the final three missions but you bet I’m looking forward to doing this mission when I return
at the beginning I found it easier to headshot all the grunts in the ghost before I even started shooting at the Wraith. It took some time waiting for them to turn so I could headshot them, but it was worth it, so I had more Laser ammo and managed to destroy the Prowlers with two shots each, effectively having one shot for the turret
Stunning as always
Your channel deserves way more subscribers
The bit we thought would give us trouble in co-op LASO was exactly the bit that gave us trouble in co-op LASO.
Dealing with those Brutes and Flood while escaping the tower. All I had left was a hammer and an energy pistol and he had access to a fuel rod cannon, which sounds great but is effectively nothing when you need to fight in close range combat and avoid hunters.
We sure as hell weren't sticking around to fight them all, that never went well.
But once we got through there, it was more or less trial-and-error the rest of the way, trying not to get blown up. He used the tank, I rode with the rocket guy on the mongoose and we cleared the way slowly. Me usually dying more often than him if he missed anything. On the inside hallway with the Covenant and Flood forces, at the end, we had a little trouble getting past the giant group of jetpack brutes, mainly because of the chieftain taking us out on the last guy or a brute shot explosive getting lucky. All that really left was the way out, which we died a couple times due to him rushing up ahead (got a little impatient given it's late, I guess), but the sentinels dealt with most of the dangerous Flood for us and we were pretty much clear to jump down the shaft.
Oh and we had to deal with lag again. That was fucking swell.
Scarabs about to blow!
Chief what are you doing?!
*smacks leg of Scarab*
Recharging my shields
Definitely hop into an ally's hornet. It's too much to spend 20 minutes chipping away at banshees only to get hit once and die to a scarab.
FASTER WAY TO TAKE DOWN SCARABS
There are 2 Hornets. Kill one Marine Driver and Hop on on the other as a guest. The marine will drive to the scarab and you jump and take the turret. Brutes usually don't follow you to the scarab heart. For the second one, jump down and go back to the hornet that you killed the marine and simply go to the scarab, jump, and do the exact same thing.
Thank you for this! I died 3 times (mostly my own stupidity) trying to do the strat from the video and it was taking an eternity so I tried this and took down both first try. Only difference was that the second hornet was gone so I ran back up and got the tank to take out a leg of the second Scarab and then boarded it old-fashioned style.
@@Pyronix337 I think i tried this with a tank too but The tank was missing. The tank just disseapeared.
For the Scarabs I just cleared the brutes off one and then landed on it, destroyed it, then took a vehicle back up to the scorpion and used it to destroy the other.
I couldn't destroy the Scarabs with the Hornet after downing them. On LASO, it takes a ton of damage to destroy the back of the Scarab to expose the power source, and the Scarab will get back up before you can destroy the back of it. You effectively have two chances to down each Scarab by taking out their two front legs, taking out the back legs is a lot harder. What I ended up doing was killing the marine at the start who gets into the second Hornet so the second Hornet would remain available in the event I needed it. I took out all Banshees, Ghosts, Prowlers, and then the Brutes on the Scarab before focusing on the Scarabs. When downing the first Scarab, I would fly to the front of the Scarab to land on it, bail out of the Hornet and pick up one of the Plasma turrets to destroy the Scarab. If the Hornet was still accessible and not destroyed from the Scarab explosion (or probably the Scarab stomping on it if it got back up and the Hornet fell to the ground), I'd fly to the second Scarab and finish it the same way, otherwise I'd go pick up the spare Hornet before taking on the second Scarab. You'd want to make sure to destroy the second wave of the Ghosts and the Prowler before doing this, that way nothing is on the ground to kill you when walking up to the citadel.
In the Citadel itself, I got lucky with a jetpack Brute flying to me with his back to me, so it was an easy melee for shields. I didn't want to take any chances with the Hammer Chieftan and dodging his hammer, so I brought my full Fuel Rod Gun and just lit him up until he died. On the way back, once the gravity hammer ran out, there's a crate in the second segment with Plasma Rifles, I used dual Plasma Rifles to get through the Elite Flood since they have a ton of shields on LASO and would melee them for shields to kill them. They have a predictable attack pattern and they telegraph their melee so it's easy to get out of the way.
Once you get past this level, Cortana and Halo are a breeze compared to this, and you've definitely gotten past the hardest part of this game's LASO campaign!
2:38 he was star struck lmaoo
I've noticed this in other parts of Halo 3, but it was most pronounced in this mission. For some reason, it ALWAYS takes more damage for me to perform some of the same actions you're doing. For instance, at the beginning of The Ark when we line up sniper shots to take out 2 brutes, it took so much ammo that it was impossible for me to take out the 3rd brute in the area (next to the grunts), even with the BR.
On this mission though, for the 2 Scarabs, I HAD to stay in the tank and mostly anywhere on the ridge to take everything out. I spent nearly 2 hours trying to use the Hornets and they just didn't deal enough damage fast enough before I got tired and slipped up and took one of the few hits that would kill me (started this section with no shields). The Scarab's turret won't shoot you up there and the main gun needs line of sight to begin charging and is easy enough to dodge given the distance. Once all 4 Banshees were destroyed, the AI Hornets would buzz around the Scarabs and reveal their back and let me damage them until all of the Hornets died. I had to get lucky and kill 1 of the Scarabs (left one preferably as there's a LOT of cover you can drive around by the right one) before all of the Hornets died.
With just the right Scarab left (killed both Ghosts, Prowler, and peppered the Scarab enough to feel I moved the brutes onboard off), I prepared 3 of the legs to be destroyed in 1 or 2 shots and went down the hill and to the right. I popped a leg and moved to the back while preparing to go under the structure the light bridge will connect to just in case I couldn't break the back and kill the Scarab. I got lucky and did it with just the 1 leg, but this area should make it possible to break a 2nd leg and rush on and grab a turret to take out the core on foot (and get shields back).
Inside, the 5 jetpack brutes took 5 shots to kill, not 3. Again, I don't know why I'm not dealing as much damage as you are in Halo 3. I know all of the shots are hitting because it's pretty easy to see them hit the brute.
Yeah silver forgot the mythic skull for these guides haha, but it’s okay, usually all of his strats should still work roughly the same
@@DylanValenti I figured that might be the case. I didn't need to improvise much for this mission at least. Hardest part was probably the 3 brutes in the beginning of The Ark since there wasn't enough sniper ammo to take out the 3rd. I had to get lucky with the rocket marine and hope he took out both the Ghost and Chopper as I also had no Prowler to serve as a distraction.
@Xan Der I can understand there being an update I didn't know about (no need to be an ass about it) and was never mentioned by ANYONE in the comments of these guides (I've read most of them). You're aware that there was an update to the scoring as well? It doesn't matter how good you are, it's not possible to get some of the scores at the times he's at across these guides anymore because of that.
However, parts like the jetpack Brutes or the 3 sniped on The Ark (where someone literally can't go wrong unless they're spasming their aim or something, THEY'RE SITTING TARGETS FFS!!), proves that the guide is slightly outdated. It definitely took 5 rods to kill a single Brute at that point. There's literally no way to "GiT gUd" for the strategy used in the video.
There was plenty of ammo and I wasn't complaining this was a bad guide. I merely stated what I had to do to make that part (the Scarabs) bearable to possibly help others (who can't time travel back before the update) because of an update to the Mythic skull that's not in any pinned comment in any of the videos. H3 was still by far the easiest LASO up to that point given these guides.
@Artifact Ward Well that I didn't know about! Guess I'll try it next time I play H3.
taking down the f-ing legs of the scarabs takes too long. I feel I'm about to go insane
Masochism is so funny
Took me 3 hours to complete this mission
Dude. Thank you so much
Around 12:00 when you fight the brutes in that room found out you can bait them in and melee/headshot them through the glass. Decent exploit when they try to jump at you from across the room lol
Silver is an absolute legend
After jackal snipers , brute-shot brute is the most annoying enemy in whole Halo triology.
Reach concussion rifle elite would like a word with you
Yeah I agree
@@TURBOWANDS yeah he's pesky too but noob combo makes it easy to deal with him
@@Phantomtrooper22 not unless its legendary they eat up the charged shot
Reach fuel-rod brute chieftan
I want 500 pounds of meat, brought to you by SilverScorpion the butcher.
Long mission, great guide!
By the way in that area just before the first tower there are a few pistols dropped from the pelican. For whatever reason the pistols can stun the jackals and cause them to expose their head. Take advantage.
Trying to figure out why we bothered collecting the fuel rod ammo in the tank section when we just used a BR and PP inside the control room.
All the excess fuel rods guns i gave them to my passengers. Very effective
At 36:48 my fuel rods despawn before they can hit the brute, as a workaround, I just moved closer to the ledge and they all land. (On PC btw)
Took a few pointers from the comments, ended up hijacking the ghosts in front of the first tower rather than destroying them and startight up flew to the scarabs (enemy banshee bombs kept on getting me). After the first scarab, my gauss hog marine shot down a banshee right in front of me, and it was still in good enough nick for me to pilot onto the second one. 33/46 and done with 3/4 of the combat missions.
PSA: it now takes 5-6 fuel rods to take out the jetpack brutes
I will do halo 3 laso eventually but I’m gonna do the challenge for the new halo 3 skull before it expires
Watch my Crows Nest LASO guide to easily get that. Theres the part where I throw down a deployable cover in front of a turret and kill a ton of buggers. Just do that, revert your checkpoint and repeat until you have enough. Takes about 5 minutes.
Halo Completionist okay I will
Halo Completionist yeah well I still have to get past the first mission
Also another PSA, you can juggle equipment as well as weapons.
Just finished doing all of Halo 3 on LASO today. One day of figuring this all out. Maybe shoulda waited for the guides to finish lol
Me and my buddy got kicked to Menu after getting through the scarabs on the first go, right as the cortana/rampant cutscene finished.
What gives?
Hey Silver. Thanks so much for all the guides! They've been a huge help. You mentioned on your latest stream that you were looking for a way to despawn the scarabs on the Covenant. I was having trouble finding a good safe strategy for that fight on my legendary speedrun, and I found a video which shows how to skip that fight entirely. It's a fairly safe and very consistent method that involves moving into previous load zones and eventually despawns the citadel door, meaning you can fly straight into the citadel with a hornet and finish the level. I think I'll use it whenever I get around to Halo 3 LASO.
Here's the video if you're interested:

What the actual ef!
@The Moonquisition me too
Can confirm this works very well. You can actually re-purpose the invisibility to sneak past the remaining group of brutes once you've un-loaded the door.
ark_ryl if you’re using the controls “universal reclaimer,” hitting LB in the hornet section to descend will throw out your equipment. It wastes invincibilities, regenerators, or even fucks you over with power drains.
I run into a vehicle barrier when I try this
Hello! How are you today?
1: How do you make it look so easy?
2: How do you get such good Enemy placement and RNG?
When I did this level, enemies decided to fuck me 5 ways to Sunday.
You just gotta adapt and go to the flow.
For example in Tsavo highway for me, neither the fuel rod shots were destroying the forcefields neither the respawn silver showed in his guide worked, so I just had to push like a maniac until it was done.
I can feel, that last part for me it's gonna suck, fuel rod just sucks in general for me in H3.
you forgot to use your camo you pick up at tower 2
Is there any reason to not hijack the anti air wraith at the beginning?
43:58 are you sure? Am I?
Do you crouch jump on the brute shot jump? I can’t get up there
How do u kill these guys in so few shots? On my game it takes about double, all headshots.
I don't understand, how do u kill a driver from wraith?
I can’t get the jump down in the first mission
my feet feel funny
Managed to FINALLY get to the third tower without banshees, phantoms, AA guns, and turrets messing me up.. jumped out of the hornet and game decides to give me the checkpoint right as two bruteshots are about to pummel me..... Ffs
You didnt use the camo tho...
Nope, in the video I recommend using it to escape the 3rd tower though, while I show you how to escape without it in case you forget it or accidentally use it before then.
@@HaloCompletionist I know but you said you prefer to use it later, right?
Was this reuploaded
Nope brand new strats and way better quality.
I tried your butt first method to get through prison safely......it didnt work out.....
LOL finished both Scarabs to miss the ramp exiting the Hornet and falling to my death.....Checkpoint sent me back to before the scarabs
Those splices are weird is there a reason behind them
deaths im assuming
Yeah, there were some deaths in here, if you provide timestamps I can confirm. I got deathless runs with these strats previously, but not when I hit record, of course! Could have just ran it again, but didn't have time.
Anyone wanna go for a Halo 3 LASO on COOP
Totally landed next to the 2nd scarab to get my shields back and when I got back in the hornet it was stuck under the leg yeah buddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy probably the most boring laso fight in the series
