The answer to why the reinforcements on the escape the prison segment died is simple. If you sit in the back of the second level lifts (where it has a wall mold that sticks up a bit), for whatever reason, it deactivates the lift, causing everything coming down to hit the fall timer instantly.
Is that a repeatable thing or is it one of those "I think that's why it did it in my playthrough" while others had their own little spot where it happened or it doesn't happen when they did exactly as you or someone else told them would do it. Because I have had the lift deactivate in some of my playthroughs but I dunno if there was a specific spot or trick.
It is repeatable. I always stand in the center of the 2nd floor lifts. It's also timing. You have to get there before Cortan tells you that reinforcements are coming. Wait a bit, or until you see weapons fall over the side and you're good.
Pro tip for anyone wanting to get this acheivement; to make it easier everytime you die save and quit and reload from your last checkpoint because if you get a checkpoint at 6:45 and then die at 8:13 reloading the game will also reset the timer back to 6:45
You've got to be careful doing this though. One of the posts on TrueAchievements says that you can do this, but not in the last area of a level, otherwise the time won't count.

Welcome to the club, frog. H2 best speedgame. Learn cancels, they're free. It takes literally 5 minutes. Flies hard, Cancels free. Also, general tips: Cairo: You can just sword lunge the first two jetpack elites. No need for sticking with nades or anything like that. Metro: The moonjump strat for boarding scarab is easier and more consistent, and saves a nade. The antenna can get knocked down by wraith shots, which is what happened to you. It is also possible to deload the scarab after you board it if you go too fast. You probably weren't going that fast but there's a 6 second window where you're kinda doomed if you early-board the scarab. If you really were going fast its possible the antenna falling saved you from this. Arbiter: After you clear the hangar, 3 grunts will spawn with FRGs. A few seconds after they are cleared, a checkpoint will pop and the far door will open. So as soon as you spawn the grunts, take a couple out, grab a FRG and run for the door. Don't hang around or you'll have to deal with all the other spawns too. There's also an easy way to safely get through the room beneath the hangar, go up the ramp, headclip the box until you get camo then jump across the rafters next to you. Always bring a fuel rod gun from the grunts in the hangar. You'll want it to clear out one nasty hallway of grunts with needlers. Oracle: You can headclip to be safe for the whole elevator ride. When you hear the second lot of sentinels spawn in the death barrier goes away and it becomes possible to jump down to the lower platform early. Also, the lab fight is on a timer after you kill the initial flood, the heretics who enter, then 4 more flood. Flood will stop infinite spawning after 60 seconds. You can just chill for that time, then take out the remaining flood, and the door will open to let you continue. Regret: At the beginning there are fairly easy skips on MCC, it isn't too hard to learn something called the God Despawn. For some reason everyone uses a nade jump to cross the gap but its waaaaaaaay easier to just use a slidejump bouncing off the left railing. Also a lot of "guides" dont seem to mention that once you're on the gondola you have to delay the checkpoint until the phantom spawns in or the full trick won't work, so once youre on the gondola melee constantly until you hear the phantom fly over. But honestly the whole level is a cluster. lol you should see how bad it is on Classic. There are only a few IL submissions because the start is so awful - So enjoy MCC regret because it is the easy version. QZ: in the first room where flood are fighting sentinels, don't drive down the ramps, just boost the ghost straight towards the exit door. Fly off the ledge, its much faster and just as safe. Press jump to lift the nose of the ghost a bit to clear the "lip" on the ledge. Also yes you clipped a spawn trigger. There are a couple triggers that are crucial and a couple that are optional. If the FIRST room in the crashed sentinel factory is empty, you skipped a crucial one. If the wraith as you exit the sentinel factory isn't there, you skipped a crucial one. The skip you got in the middle is fine. GM: Good job making it through as fast as you did, but prison skip isn't *that* hard to learn. I would consider prison skip easier to learn than learning to do prison fast. Uprising: If you fly through that room you can sometimes skip a trigger that loads the enemies in the next few rooms. It is a few seconds slower for speedrunners since you have nobody to cancel on. But it is safe so thats cool. HC: Don't feel bad, that one room is hard for everyone - but you went in with a carbine+sword. In the second dark "garden room" there's a flood with a rocket launcher. Grab that RL for the best chance to get through the room fastish. Also - when you're going up the elevator, melee or swing a sword until the elevator is near the top. That'll delay a checkpoint until just before you get to the top, so if you need to reset it will be a quick reset not a long elevator ride. Great Journey: If you leave the starting spectre among the trees on the left, it becomes near 100% consistent but loses a few seconds. Where you left it is usually safe but you can get unlucky. Listen for explosions as you ghost away. Consider resetting if you hear something that could be your spectre blowing up. Often halfjaw will boost his wraith through it and wreck it. Sometimes an elite or brute can jump in it and drive it off, and it'll despawn that way too. At the very end you jumped into the load zone. Since you were there with a banshee you could fly the banshee into the load zone and the banshee would come into the monkey fight with you. Even if you dont wanna use the banshee you could load on the first possible frame since you can just hover in the load trigger. Anyway GG. Also running CE is for skrubs.

Works every time.

I was about to write a joke where I said "Halo 2 on Legendary is like playing as Kat from that scene at the end of New Alexandria" but you beat me to it damn
On 'the oracle', during that slow elevator ride down, you can do several jumps and load glitches that will bring you to the bottom of that shaft in like 1 minute flat. I could never get it right, myself, but if you know the loading zones, you can at least drop yourself to the bottom near the end of the elevator, and you don't even need to glitch a death barrier or shuffle around in the way speedrunners do. My cheap method only saves like a minute or so, but it's better than nothing! I personally just can't seem to figure out all of the load glitches, only the final one.
@Frogarchist I really love the content. Keep up the good work. Also, I was inspired by this video, so I did Halo 2 Legendary for the first time, it's very enjoyable.
Monopolized is probably the achievement I'm most proud of, not just from the MCC but across all of Xbox. It was a lot of work, especially since I'm not great. I can't remember what my total time was (and Waypoint is having issues when I try to look it up), but suffice it to say I had very little time to spare.
I'm sure someone else has brought it up, but the long elevator at the beginning of the oracle is on a simple timer; you can head-glitch into a spot on the upper structure of the elevator, wait till the kill-barrier is dismissed, and then drop down to the doorway safely. No fighting necessary Edit: also the sick guitar is the amazing Steve Vai, a lot of it was improvised in studio, there's some videos floating around on here of the OG session, and it's crazy to watch everyone realize they're listening to pure gold
Hey Frog! Someone who's gotten all 700 achievements on here, Monopolized was by far one of the hardest, honestly in some regards harder than the LASO. Good job getting it!
Master Chief in the books: Kills 120 grunts in 2 minutes, slaps a scorpion missile away, etc Thel 'Vadam in the games: Jams his head into a wall so the enemies can't see him.
Dude as a kid on Outskirts I used to jump on the Pelican that picks up the Marines later, then go onto the buildings. Until I watched speedrunners a couple years ago, I didn't know you could go so much earlier haha There's an energy sword up above in the Sniper Alley, was never mentioned in the guide book.
Halo 2 definitely had the richest story and additions to lore, but in terms of enjoyment and emotional payoff at the end, Halo 3 comes out as my favorite.
Honestly, Halo 2 is pretty boring for me. Everytime I play it I feel like I'm wasting my time with it, something that I never feel while playing any other Halo game, especially it's predecessor (Halo CE my beloved). The story is probably the best in the franchise, but I can just watch that on youtube.
For fun you should try the mermaid marine glitch, when going on the under water elevator slam the door on a marine so they levitate outside. For some reason they don’t die while under water and depending on the angle they stick on they’ll swim super fast laps around the elevator in their idle position
In the Quarantine Zone gondola I always just sit at the back behind the little "railing" at ground level. If you crouch there, Flood won't bother you, no need to platform.
these level times make me less intimidated by gravemind, I was basically trying to go for sub 25 but I think I'll be okay with even sub 40, given that great journey doesn't take 3-5 business days
On a side note, I think I may know some ''speed run trick'' that apparently others don't (based on this video, no idea about the rest). In the infamous super long final gondola of Quarantine Zone, if right at the beginning you enter the channel at the bottom center of the gondola (some flood spawn there early if you don't), then you will not be seen for the rest of the ride. It's a lot easier than the jumping around frogarchist did and just as effective.
Jumping up there is absolutely free, there's no way to mess it up. You jump onto the "handrail" bit, then jump onto the pillar. That's all the jumping needed. But its also slightly faster casually because you can run out THROUGH the front wall of it directly into the library as the gondola arrives, rather than having to leave a hidey-hole and run to the edge. But either way it is much faster for serious speedruns as once we're up there we can manipulate the position of some flood and do a funky sliding swordfly to make it all the way to the human's gondola entrance, which saves like 10 seconds.
This video doees help a little with getting through some levels that took me hours Doesn't help me with getting not killed within seconds At least i have the strategy guide thanks to a frog
If you have sticky nades you can stick one inside of regrets shield to do a lotta damage. You just have to time the button press as you board. And occasionally it will stick to you and kill you if you don’t time it right but it makes it so you only have to board him 3/4 times.

Hey Frog! Someone who's gotten all 700 achievements on here, Monopolized was by far one of the hardest, honestly in some regards harder than the LASO. Good job getting it!
Another banger video
6:29 the sentinel death there was so clean 😂
I’m excited to see you learn sword flying. Very fun thing to watch and the payoff is insane.
For speed at least, the payoff isn't that big. It saves like 2 minutes in the run. Cancels are the most important trick to learn.
Master Chief in the books: Kills 120 grunts in 2 minutes, slaps a scorpion missile away, etc
Thel 'Vadam in the games: Jams his head into a wall so the enemies can't see him.
Good job! I personally know what it’s like playing legendary but never under 3 hours.
I love your videos!
6:28 a beautiful moment watching a sentinel get slammed
frogida forg frog
Just a tip for Gravemind, you can fire the needler as fast as you can pull the trigger, so you can get supercombines much faster
Halo 2 best halo
..imo, No. 😭
Good job, like the progress of all the games.
Definition of halo 2: dual wield....jackal sniper....gondela.....epic one-liners.
One day frog will go for the laso achievement 🤞
very well done. also, nice achievement
12:26 pretty rude of those speedrunners tbh, I'd NEVER ask such a question
For fun you should try the mermaid marine glitch, when going on the under water elevator slam the door on a marine so they levitate outside. For some reason they don’t die while under water and depending on the angle they stick on they’ll swim super fast laps around the elevator in their idle position
In the Quarantine Zone gondola I always just sit at the back behind the little "railing" at ground level. If you crouch there, Flood won't bother you, no need to platform.
Love ur vids
Not bad at all considering you don't main this game. Good stuff, Frog
these level times make me less intimidated by gravemind, I was basically trying to go for sub 25 but I think I'll be okay with even sub 40, given that great journey doesn't take 3-5 business days
@@muji5875 makes sense, thanks
Frog is goat
i remember my first halo was cea, i loved the series ever since
This video doees help a little with getting through some levels that took me hours
Doesn't help me with getting not killed within seconds
At least i have the strategy guide thanks to a frog
damn nice, I still have to do this.
If you have sticky nades you can stick one inside of regrets shield to do a lotta damage. You just have to time the button press as you board.
And occasionally it will stick to you and kill you if you don’t time it right but it makes it so you only have to board him 3/4 times.
Would not have this cheevo if it wasnt for Bean, top speedrun carry.
2:34 I hear a lot about how Halo 2’s Legendary is the hardest, but I can promise you this would’ve killed you on Reach
Gravemind prison, Regret fuel rod grunt gondola and Regret fight drives me nuts....sniper jackals dont even scare me anymore tbh
“Gravemind is my favorite level in the whole franchise” you ok man?
Dont know about anybody else but on legendary i call gravemind gravegrind
When a I grow up I wanna be like you (I'm 24 lol), the under 3 hrs achievements are the only ones that I have missing in MCC
When your casual playthrough is so good people think youre a bad speedrunner 😂😂
12:19 that always happens on mcc i think it's a bug or they died in the lift
I wanna see a meme category where all enemies get replaced with jackal snipers
8:51 now that was just uncalled for
The real achievement is the friends we made along the way.
OMG, 20 years, and I had no idea there was a Warthog in the back of the bridge 🤯😱
I just got monopolized yesterday and i am slightly pissed causr i learned some of the speedrun tricks and some of your times were still better than mine. Oh well i had some great times in there too.
4:17
"Wait what the fuc-"
Trying to get the par time on regret on easy was a nightmare. 15 minutes is average my ass. I only beat it by 2 seconds.
Watching the Super Bowl👎
Watching Frogarchist 👍
