Level - Cortana
Difficulty - Legendary
Skulls - Skulls will automatically be selected when you select the Halo 3 LASO playlist. They are as follows: Black Eye, Blind, Catch, Cowbell, Famine, Fog, Grunt Birthday Party, Iron, IWHBYD, Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Tough Luck.

For real, watching Regret LASO just made me sad
Mauz Gravemind is worse in just about every way. The only bad parts of Regret are the beginning, the exit of the second elevator, and the boss skip because of how long the setup takes with no guarantee of a checkpoint once you start the fight.
@@221Prohunter got PTSD from gravemind restarting twice, and being stuck on prison skip till I decided fuck it I'll do the prison
diego srvin I managed to do the skip by binding my jump, melee, and swap weapon keys to 3 buttons next to each other on PC. It made it much easier to spam the combo consistently, I used B, N, and M.
Yes I played halo 2 heroic and went back to halo 3 heroic and it feels like easy mode I'm surprised at how much damage I can take without dying I feel invincible.

FR. So many sections where I have flood ranged guys on walls hitting me where he has absolutely zero. There's 3 on that active camo. 3 in the room where you destroy the reactors hitting you even when you're up top. Sheesh
I remember this being a lot more difficult on just legendary. to the point where on the 360 me and a bunch of random people got into a modded/hacked lobby that allowed 8 to 16 people in campaign just to do this mission on legendary
I swear the difficulty was lowered on this mission over time. On release Cortana was hell, but going through it now on mcc it's easy peasy
JohnJackLynch It’s arguably easier on LASO because of Black Eye. On legendary without skulls, you get melted by the ranged ones and have to wait to regen while tons of flood run at you at the same time. Also, you’ve been playing Halo for years so you’re better now than you were back then wether you realize it or not lol
The difficulty is the same, you're having that Mandela effect
@@PcCAvioN Apparently there's a problem with many of the flood just standing there and doing nothing in MCC. Could be much easier now because of this.
Damn really? I just played this level today on legendary and it was pretty bad but I beat it in around 35 mins which isn’t great but not terrible. My best guess is that maybe mcc is easier than halo 3 on the 360.

You know, I didn't find this mission on plain legendary all that bad. My biggest sadness in recent days has been to see that there are no skips for the gravemind/cortana hijacking your brain sequences. They're possibly the most irritating thing about this mission. Thanks for the guide though, all of these are super helpful!

4babou Way to be an egotist. It really is difficult. It’s easy in coop if you have a group but solo it’s generally not fun other than the missions where you have tons of melee kills handed to you easily.

Man, the bowl room kept kicking my butt. Staying light on my feet while also making those jumps didn't do me any favors, and got me swarmed a bunch.

Well...I recorded it during the corona pandemic so it's kinda corona LASO.
I might have to turn on Black Eye just to get through vanilla legendary for this

When i did a run through of this on just legendary and it had most of my deaths throughout the whole campaign. Then this mad man gets through in 15 minutes wat
I fucking hate this level so goddamn much. On the last part, literally every flood form turns into those goddamn ranged fuckers and knocks me off while I’m trying to jump off on the ledge. As I’m running through the level every fucking flood form I sword attacks me and I lose all my shield immediately. And every goddamn carrier has grenades inside. Fuck this level.

PSA: you can place the disposable cover on the bridge to make the jump to the higher portion of the reactor room a lot easier/safer.
Speed running the whole level is the only way you can clear this level on LASO.
If you stay and fight it's substantially more difficult I agree. It's the general strategy on Legendary as well, just run thru it and know the route and some ways to improvise. If you take it slow, you'll have to get near perfect sword chains to not get overrun. It helps that the AI isn't super responsive, they do attack once they notice you, but if you're super fast they take a second to attack.

8:47 the difference is our games is incredible.
As soon as I leave this door, to my left is a flood brute with a brute shot, a flood tank and a flood elite with a sword. To my right are two flood rang shooters thingies and across from my is a flood tank and a flood range. 🙃
This level is really dictated by RNG. The first time you drop down with the first cortana scene, silver just ran past a bunch of the flood. On my run, there’s always a shotty flood in the path lol
In the reactor room, I have done this level twice now and each time a random piece of equipment despawns on me. First run, the 1st Bubbleshield disappeared on the escape and on the 2nd run the Camo by the door disappeared on the escape. 1st Bubbleshield wasnt a huge issue, was able to complete easily without it however without the camo it made it much more difficulty

Not quite as easy in co-op, but not so bad either. The swords you get are a godsend. Sangheili Flood Combat Forms are dangerous and take three strikes with a sword to eliminate, but they're predictable even when they have shields, so they're not *too* bad, but sometimes they lunge and you can't figure out how to avoid them.
Our main issues came from the large room where the skull is located (you grab a camo in there on the way through and on the way back when the place is blowing up you have to camo to escape through the door). So many enemies. The first time through was bad, because we both needed camo and had to take separate routes, but I got through just fine moving straight. Aim for the infection form in the tank's face and it's not a problem to one-shot. On the way back the sword-wielding Flood were a problem. We only had one camo left so he had to deal with it.
Also I couldn't make a jump on the way to the reactor room and had to hide in one of the corners. Enemies don't go over there, though, so I just had to wait for my partner to clear out the next area (which he only died once or twice, so it wasn't too hard for him) before I got teleported after the cutscene.
Again, since I didn't have camo he had to run to the ship solo, but he managed well enough. Not sure how he handled it.
This like kinda off topic but are there are any references to halo 2 while being on high charity like rooms the only one I know is the energy sword is in the middle of the room that where you go up the lift in halo 2 to get on the ship thanks
Wow, 12 minutes. That's nuts. I'm pretty sure I'm usually stuck in that level for about an hour. This looks like a really efficient route! :)
I dont know why the flood are making a wall in front of me whereas i m speedrunning the mission compare to you your field is empty lol
Nice! I just finished my first Halo LASO Run... It was H3 ODST. Solo, no TV mark, no Internet tips ect.
First, third and last mission(that Highway) were a CHORE though but it was worth it!

Got to the part where I brute shot the reactors and one of them exploded but the coil thing that connects that hanging section is still there and I haven’t gotten the “escape” objective. Help pls :(
Is it the far one? You probably didnt actually shoot it and need to get closer. Brute shot rounds blow up mid-air after traveling a certain distance.

I'm playing MCC on PC, and the save and quit workaround only works about 80% of the time. I save and quit instantly when I die. Even when I save and quit when I am still alive it sometimes resets the misson. Am I missing something?
It's just inconsistent/glitchy for a small percentage of players. It works 100% of the time for most people. There's also the possibility that you accidentally selected "Restart" instead of "Save and Quit" at one point since the options are right next to each other. I've done that before.

I've had this issue before and I think it has something to do with menu navigation when you're back in the playlists menu. If you try to do everything too fast, you end up restarting the level accidentally
this mission isn't even hard tbh but it's REALLY annoying. i died a lot lol but somehow i didn't find it required that much skill to beat. i can see why it was so hard to beat this mission in deathless laso now.
Jesus it took me 30 mins just to finish it on legendary...while you LASO'd it in 12ish minutes

Which part are you stuck on? You can avoid the rocket nade jumps by just driving your original warthog to the final section after you clear out the tunnels with the tank...I totally forgot about that warthog O.O

I'm having same issue I kept moving and never stopped but they are always set up
I had the same issue too, what I did was instead of running through the room, I hid underneath the platform thingy in the center of the room (there's 2 active camos and some needlers down there) and I just let all the flood in the room come to me. Once I had killed all of the combat forms and tank forms, I picked up a needler, cloaked myself, and killed most of the ranged forms. Then I picked up the second cloak and kept going
Also I strongly recommend carrying a Needler as your secondary weapon over a Carbine for most of the level because it's so good at dealing with those annoying spike shooters
This level, like every other level in Halo 3 laso, is soooo much more difficult since 343 added the mythic skull.
Dude honestly those jumps are RNG and fucking impossible. I've rngd with 10 dudes on that empty ass walk way you slide jump up lmao. Impossible
