These glasses are much easier to fold from foil origami paper, but they can be folded from kami, especially if you employ wet folding technique where you put paper clips on the model to hold it together and then dunk it in water and set it out in the sun to dry. After it's completely dry, take of the paper clips and you paper glasses will hold together very well. I did not use this technique on the glasses that I folded in this tutorial and I was still able to use them for the intro of my Flasher Sword tutorial.
Where can you buy large origami foil??? Well here's someone who sells (laminated-by-hand) tissue foil for complex origami projects: www.etsy.com/shop/UnfoldedSto... It would certainly work like a charm for this model, and obviously for more complex models as well.
For a large roll of good quality origami foil (not handmade) here is what I found:

I bought this foil paper to see if it would ok to recommend to my origami audience (RUclips), and it certainly passed my folding test which included folding my Surfer on Wave model (see attached video). It's a little thicker than Japanese origami foil, but I actually like that more for big models because it's not as floppy. That said, the Surfer on a Wave folded from this size (26-inch square), was still too floppy for the action mechanism to work properly, but that's not the paper's fault. If I had cut it to a smaller square I'm certain it would have worked perfectly. This foil was able to withstand my stress test of reversing a crease 40 times...the blue stayed intact at the crease. So, origamiwise I give it an A+ 👍"

Wow you look cool with those! I really wanted to fold serious wearable glasses and not ones that cover your eyes so you can’t see anything or pretend that you are blind, and also glasses that are only for decoration and not to wear them.

I’ve been subscribed to your channel since 2012 and I folded exactly 60 of your models but I only know how to fold like 20 of them because I have a very bad memory to know all the steps of each one to fold, and because I take long breaks from folding so that’s why I forget how to fold them! But anyway, thank you!
Thank you LuistationChannel, for you nice comment. Believe me, at least 95% of the models taught on this channel I don't remember how to fold, though I could probably redesign them in a pinch, but I rely on my videos (or books) if I want refold any of them.
